Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰W12D3

Unexpected result… Today I moved down a stone bracket and weigh 11st 12.2lbs taking my loss to date 26.8lbs πŸ₯° - tantalising close to a 2 stone loss since Nov 4th and now I’d wish I’d waited to weigh after a β€˜movement’ πŸ˜‚ but I’ll take the win. BMI is now 27.7. I now have less than 2stone to get to my first GW of 10st.

Activity today is Tennis for 2 hrs and a 44min Pvolve class plus I’m going to enjoy trying on my swimwear ready for my upcoming spa weekend without getting into a complete sweaty mess… πŸ₯³

Awesome update - nice work! 🍾

phyllidafosset · 22/01/2025 07:08

@Mounjaropen that is fantastic! Both the loss and your fitness!! Congratulations!!!πŸ™Œ

evilharpy · 22/01/2025 07:22

Woohooo @Mounjaropen amazing update, well done!

I wish my insides would stop gurgling!

Mounjaropen · 22/01/2025 07:40

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. I’m really interested in the science as to why after a long time of trying, the weight is finally coming off because I don’t want to pile it back on post MJ. Aside from consistency (which is probably a huge factor)The difference in my activity since November is only really the inclusion of Pilates (and I’m pretty sure had I not invested the Β£500+ in Pvolve I’d have given that up by now..), but I was already at or around 10k steps per day before MJ. I know no alcohol during the week has been consistent rather than sporadic and that is a significant amount of empty calories removed from the equation, and Obviously food noise is reduced, meaning I don’t really snack beyond a couple of dates but I’ve had the odd choc with a coffee. I don’t particularly take care at the weekend - I drink and I go out to eat as I did before and I have more than one meal a day on those days. Perhaps I’m answering my own question here, but I guess the unexpected factor for me is the amount of energy I have on the calories I’m consuming per day at the exercise level which has been really surprising result.

Woo hoo @Mounjaropen !

I love this thread. Love the support, the celebration of everyone's wins, the top tips. So glad I found it!

I'm trying to survive on tea, bananas, toast and rice until I'm out of the post-jab danger zone. Jabbed 5mg again this week and definitely feel better for it, but the lack of food has me feeling tired and a bit zonked out. Hopefully once I get past today, I can get more food in me and get back to the gym. I'm not willing to quit mj just yet - I'm finally able to look in the mirror and see a normal shaped body looking back and I'm absolutely loving it.

Hit my initial goal of 85kg this morning which just blows my mind. 10kg to go to hit my next goal.

In disbelief that this is working!

Della82 · 22/01/2025 09:06

Well done @SerenePeer that’s an awesome result πŸ’ͺ

@Mounjaropen I think the difference for me is booze and snacking, I could scoff a whole big bag of giant buttons of an evening and think β€œwhoops but I’ve been good all day so it’s ok”

im also eating significantly smaller portions in my evening meal, not that I ate loads before but it was definitely more than I needed!

hoping I can maintain good habits when I stop.

jay55 · 22/01/2025 09:25

@Mounjaropen great result well done.
I do think one of the keys to maintenance is being strict in the week after a relaxed weekend and learning how to not let it continue.

I think the money spent is a motivator too, I've not spent this much on jabs to have to do it again.

Cantbesure · 22/01/2025 09:36

Well done @Mounjaropen and @SerenePeer on hitting those milestones.

I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about and researching how to maintain the weight loss. Even though I'm only half way through my journey! I've lost it before with SW, and was more or less maintaining until lockdown and then it all crept back on. Lost a stone. Crept back on. Lost a stone, started to gain it back. Etc etc. I'm 52 and I want to live the rest of my life with energy, functional fitness and at a size I'm happy with. I don't want to be on the weight loss rollercoaster for the chapter of my life. I really want this to be the start of a better relationship with weight, food and health.

Oceangrey · 22/01/2025 09:47

I'm pretty convinced that the MJ does something apart from just reducing the calories we eat.

Being able to consistently eat less without feeling hungry all the time is obviously massive. But, I don't feel like I'm eating less than on previous diets, and yet the weight loss is far more. I've still been eating croissant, occasionally desserts, not doing loads of exercise. Yes I've been having smaller portions and eating fewer snacks but I've don't that before and not had these results.

Keep going! It's lovely when you can see your hard work paying off in the mirror πŸ˜ƒRe: energy, Can you up your protein count and reduce the carb content? It might give you more energy to get to the gym? Each Banana has around 30g of carbs and rice is similar for 100g. I find I'm really sluggish after carbs but have more energy on protein - nothing fancy, just a boiled or poached egg.

I think we've all had an adjustment in terms of portion control and also snacking control. I want to understand how I might mimic the effects of MJ once I'm off it - research for the next couple of months I think!

I agree on both counts. Usually I would think I'll have a glass of wine because it's Monday/the bottle is open and unfinished. What I've learned is that the world doesn't stop because there is an unfinished bottle of wine open!

My sentiments exactly. I don't want to be an Oprah in this journey at all. Please share if you discover any articles of interest!

I think this is what I'm trying to understand. I know it isn't magic or snake oil. Shame Michael Moseley is no longer with us, he'd have done a great programme on this I bet.

Eggs 🀒 Nope. Not risking those!! πŸ˜‚ Good point re protein though.

Well done @MMounjaropen it's a great feeling when that happens

Cantbesure · 22/01/2025 10:26

@Mounjaropen MM did have something to say about WLI before his untimely death. Basically that they are a tool for weight loss but should be used in conjunction with a healthy eating plan (not surprisingly he promoted his fast 800 plan) and learning new habits. He was also concerned about losing muscle mass. thefast800.com/what-dr-michael-mosley-thinks-about-weight-loss-medications/

My own plan is to move to oushk so I have maintenance support available to me. I'm worried about getting to a good BMI and not being able to go back on MJ if I can feel I'm struggling without it. My ideal of course, is that I won't need MJ again but I'm being open and pragmatic, and mindful of my past experiences.

I'm very interested in microdosing and the potential for smaller and/or less frequent use of MJ. As well as the new GLP1 drugs in development.

ShaunaSadeki · 22/01/2025 10:32

My suppression was great yesterday in the day but it meant I was trying to sleep with hunger pangs last night. Distracted myself by imagining a nice drop on the scales this morning, but no cigar. Reminded myself that I am not eating enough to maintain and the DOMs I am feeling from strength training show stuff is happening muscle wise and I am almost certainly losing fat this week if not weight and dragged myself out for a jog, will do a home weights work out after work and then walk to get DD from her mates after that.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/01/2025 10:47

Yay, well done @Mounjaropen and @SerenePeer! Amazing results!

@Oceangrey, I’m sure it does too. I’ve been eating carbs and the odd chocolate, but still losing weight at a faster rate than when I did Fast800 religiously for 4 months. That video linked a week or two ago suggested that there were loads of mechanisms in the body it works on, including burning more visceral fat.
