Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

I've had the same @Mounjaropen the letter from my GP just says it's not their job to review the medication's suitability. Nothing on my records of any concern. And I've told MedExpress the medication I'm on.

It's less than a hundredth of a teaspoon if that helps at all.

@BBlueWalker not to be scared of thanks

Maybe drop them a line or ring them? Worth checking it is not a mistake?

I think everyone is individual and what works for me might not be right for you. Listen to your body - if your suppression is waning, I’d consider going up.

Hi haven't updated for a while... I started taking mj at the end of November and managed 3 weeks at 2.5ml before I had to take a break due to a skin reaction around my eyes. By some miracle I managed to keep my weight stable over Xmas. But 2 weeks ago I restarted at 2.5ml as I was struggling to lose weight without it, and so far so good! To the person below saying 5ml is giving them terrible side effects, my plan is to actually stay on 2.5ml for the foreseeable. I feel like I'm still benefitting from the lack of food noise and hunger pangs, and my body has learnt to tolerate this amount. So far I'm 2 stone down (although lost half a stone over 8 weeks before I started), with one more to go to reach my target weight. Obviously if 2.5ml stops helping, I will move up to the 5ml pen... but I'm also hoping that having a lower dose will make it easier to figure out a way to maintain my weight long term when I do finally reach the target weight. The biggest benefit for me is not snacking/binging and thinking about food constantly... I really do find it incredible how mj is able to help me with my disordered eating habits and also resist a few glasses of wine in the evening!

murraymcgill · 21/01/2025 17:43

I'm on 7.5 and at times I could easily eat sweets if I could get my hands on them if there not there I'll roll on so I think I need to go up

Cantbesure · 21/01/2025 17:52

It's not a mistake @Mounjaropen as I can see it's in response to my GP letter to them. I just wanted to ask if anyone else has had the same happen? I'll ask on the main thread.

Great to see your update - congrats on the losses so far! Sounds like you have a great plan.

Feeling a bit down today. I've been ill since the start of Jan, and whilst I'm on the mend finally I still have awful nausea from a combo of the jab and cattarh from my chest infection.

I'm on 5mg and still have massive suppression, to the point where I struggle to eat much at all, even by the end of the week. My weight loss is great, averaging 2-4 lbs a week (maybe a bit too fast). I'm almost 2 1/2 stone down since mid Nov which is brilliant.

But I am just feeling down at the moment. The idea of months more of this feeling of being repulsed by food is just getting to me. I still need to shift about 4 stone, so this is going to take a while! I am happy with not wanting to snack and with feeling full, but it is more than that, I just don't enjoy eating anymore.

For the first time today I contemplated stopping MJ and attempting to do it myself, but I know I won't do it and I need longer to break my bad habits and change my headspace. The fact that I am missing the fun and sociability of food is part of the problem!

I'm sure it is a wobble, brought on by feeling so ill for three weeks. Any words of encouragement to get me through this blip are very welcome!

That sounds really tough. I think you need to go easy on yourself - you’ve been ill, it’s bloody January, it’s cold and dark and miserable, and you’re still getting used to a new medication. Maybe reduce your dose a little - go to 3.5 or space out the jabs a bit more or similar. Hopefully as the catarrh clears you’ll start to feel a bit more upbeat.

Also, think about your socialising and food habits. You can’t just never go out again! Just order what you feel like and if that’s not much, so what? Your new normal is going to be eating less, so start to get yourself and your friends used to it. You have the perfect excuse right now - you’ve been ill and you aren’t fancying food as much. What are you doing when you get invited out? Is it friends or relatives or your partner? Try to work out a way to keep up your social life - post on here and we’ll help!

Hope you find the answer. I think I worded my reply badly, I meant give the GP a ring maybe to check their concerns? Fingers crossed for you.

Has anyone had an email from MedExpress asking you to send them your medical records. I can see it's been prompted by a letter from my GP which basically says it's not their responsibility to review the suitability of the medication so they should ask me for my medical records.

It seems totally at odds though from what the MedExpress letter to my GP states which is that they aren't asking my GP for specific information from my medical record.

I don't feel comfortable sending information over email. Or snail mail tbh. And also I'm not sure why I'm being asked for jt when the med express letter to my GP says they don't need it. Quite happy I'd already decided to switch providers.

I had this - my GP had sent them a letter saying it wasn’t their job to check suitability or something along those lines. I think if they’d just filed the letter away and not said anything, Medexpress wouldn’t have cared. It certainly didn’t seem like the letter regarding the jab prescription needed a reply.

I ended up sending them a screen shot of my Heath record and repeat medication list, which seemed to satisfy them. Until the same thing happened after they prescribed the next jab and they asked for it again πŸ™„ - I ignored the second request and they haven’t chased

Cantbesure · 21/01/2025 17:58

@WellyBootsandPuddleSuits my GP letter was the same. They must have a template. Thanks for letting me know what you did. I'm going to question their reasoning but I'm probably not going to use them again now anyway. Unless they offer me a good discount!

Cantbesure · 21/01/2025 18:01

@Mounjaropen I think the GP response is a standard template and is a bit sniffy about being asked information for medication they haven't prescribed. I suppose as more people take up MJ on private prescriptions GPs are mindful of a potential increase in workload and doing extra work when the private pharmacies are the ones making the £££.

I agree, but as far as I know, there is nothing preventing GP’s setting up their own in-house clinic and privately prescribing - they’re happy to charge for holiday travel jabs, sick notes etc. You’d think by looking at a patients notes they’d be happy that they are trying to do what the NHS recommends and lose weight!

Yes, I have and I had to go to my doc to get a patient summery printed off and I took a phot of it and sent it by email. That was sufficient.

I'm similar - no sickness at all on 7.5 and just sort of assumed i needed to increase for it to keep working? so i bought a 10mg pen but gave myself a 3/4 dose to see if i can eke it out a bit longer. If supression dips i will up to full dose.

FYI in last 12 months i've tried both Ozempic and Wegovy and had stronger side effects on both of those (and way less supression) I seem to have the digestion of a rhino!

murraymcgill · 21/01/2025 19:24

@mustwashmycurtains my best suppression was on 2.5 God knows why i moved up it was stupid but here I am 3x7.5 left and a 10mg on its way I've not had much side effects except a bit of diarrhea or constipation but for me I have IBS so it's normal I need to get to 12.7 for surgery so 10lbs to go but ideally 12st would be great

Hope you feel better soon! I’m actually in Scotland for Burns night this year πŸ₯°

Oh that’ll be fantastic! Have an amazing time. I was born in Edinburgh and try to keep some traditions going. Plus I like haggis πŸ˜‚

(we have a real one and a veggie one, though might just be a real one this year at this rate!)

Unexpected result… Today I moved down a stone bracket and weigh 11st 12.2lbs taking my loss to date 26.8lbs πŸ₯° - tantalising close to a 2 stone loss since Nov 4th and now I’d wish I’d waited to weigh after a β€˜movement’ πŸ˜‚ but I’ll take the win. BMI is now 27.7. I now have less than 2stone to get to my first GW of 10st.

Activity today is Tennis for 2 hrs and a 44min Pvolve class plus I’m going to enjoy trying on my swimwear ready for my upcoming spa weekend without getting into a complete sweaty mess… πŸ₯³
