Week 2, day 7
Finally shifted that weight I gained at the beginning of the week. So this week’s loss is 0.9kg/2lb compared to 3.8kg/8lb in the first week - but I’m happy with that.
Jab 3 tomorrow. I’ll see how I get on this week, I’m with Juniper and automatically get sent the 5mg dose next but I’d like to stay on 2.5 if I can continue to lose at 2lb a week. Appetite suppression is low on the last couple of days (getting hungry in time for all meals), but willpower from knowing I’ve got another jab coming is currently keeping the snacking at bay. And as long as I’m in charge of my portions I’m finishing what’s on my plate but not going for seconds or craving a dessert.

SW 79.6kg
CW 74.9kg (total loss 4.7kg)
GW 65kg

stilllovingmysleep · 18/01/2025 08:07

@Thelittlestranger I've also completely lost my taste for booze. I normally don't drink much, only 1-2 glasses of wine a week, but on my first 8 days on MJ it has 100% lost its appeal

Tomorrow I'm going out for meal with DH - as a test will have a glass of white wine and see how I feel.

millenialmolly · 18/01/2025 07:39

Just wondering what people find to be effective for heart burn?

I'm on W1 D3, have felt OK so far but the heartburn in the night was bad!

@millenialmolly I had that one evening and mild reflux after eating a bowl of lentil soup - took 1 nexium next morning which I bought from supermarket and it passed

Also temporarily avoiding big bowls of lentil soup 🙂

DGonMJ · 18/01/2025 08:14

@Changingnameagain I stopped drinking last year to lose weight, and actually gained for a bit before I started losing (although incredibly slowly). I wondered if it was because the alcohol sometimes worked as diuretic, dehydrating me overnight. But do stick with the lower units, they’re empty calories and your body will eventually thank you for reducing the amount of toxins it has to process.

NikkiC1975 · 18/01/2025 08:47

Morning team 😊
Just did my second weigh in and I’ve lost another 5.8lbs which I’m chuffed with as it takes me to a total of 13.2lbs lost over 2 weeks. I’m not expecting this rate of loss to continue but I’m motivated to stick to eating clean, plenty of protein and loads of water.

it’s jab day and I’ve woken up with a headache so I’m going to have a light breakfast of yoghurt and fruit before getting stuck in to W3!

Keep going everyone, good luck! 😊

Usernamesarenoteasy · 18/01/2025 09:21

So I went out for dinner last night, the day after jab 3. First time eating out whilst on MJ. Probably not the best idea, but it was a first date so couldn't say no really 😆
I had a mixed vegetable starter, then chicken and veg for main. I barely ate half the main, as i was just full.
Whereas before I would have forced it down me so as not to waste money or food. I've never had willpower like that, and it was quite an amazing feeling.
Although I still feel too full to eat breakfast, despite just having been for a run.

Josephi · 18/01/2025 09:36

W2D2 of microdosing (1.25mg). Bit of stomach pain, I feel hunger in my stomach but not in my head. Food shopping this morning was difficult because I really didn’t fancy anything. I don’t think I really lost any weight but I will stick to microdose as I eat smaller portions.
SW 99.0 kg
CW 97.60 kg

stilllovingmysleep · 18/01/2025 09:47

@NikkiC1975 well done for your weight loss that's brilliant

Agree, this quick early weight loss won't continue and actually shouldn't continue I feel as losing too fast affects our muscles and probably destabilises the body. But early quick loss really adds to motivation

JoanCollinsDiva · 18/01/2025 09:47

Hi all, more amazing losses! Losing nigh on a stone in two weeks is just, wow.

I jabbed last night about an hour before going out (impatient person that I am) and was fine, only had two drinks with my meal and no dessert which is pretty unheard of.

I do feel a bit strange this morning, I've had diarrhoea (not unusual after eating out for me as I have mild ibs) and just feel....not hungry! I never eat breakfast anyway but I do usually feel hungry and am thinking about food. The thought of eating something right now doesn't interest me at all.

Also just noting for my own record:
SW: 13 st 6lb
GW: 11 st

My weight was a bit of a shocker as I'd put 13st using my old scales on the Juniper app - was sent some fancy electric ones yesterday and weighed a whole 6lbs more - so that was annoying. But. Onwards!

stilllovingmysleep · 18/01/2025 09:52

Hope you feel better soon @JoanCollinsDiva

Wonder if we can all gather some ideas for good quality high protein snacks and food choices? Just to have options to mix it up a bit. So far I've been doing

Boiled eggs
High protein breakfast bars
Hummus with raw veg
Natural yoghurt with mixed nuts / mixed seeds

Other ideas?

Jins · 18/01/2025 09:55

Second jab yesterday afternoon and at 10pm I was absolutely starving hungry. I managed to push through temptation and I’ve woken this morning feeling as if the suppression has kicked in.

Today I’m planning to be on as low carb as I can achieve. I made a huge pan of ratatouille last night so my main meals this week will be something and ratatouille. Unfortunately that is likely to push my total fibre intake too high but by cutting right down on starch I’m hoping that I don’t get too bunged up.

I’m at peace with staying the same weight in week one. I’m in the right mindset to lose, I’ve committed to it financially and the Mounjaro is giving me will power.

Changingnameagain · 18/01/2025 07:41

Weighed today and have been sitting on 19st4 for 5 days now which has felt disheartening as I've stuck to 1500 cals or less a day, made efforts to get my steps up at least 3 days a week and have cut my alcohol down by 90%- having 1 drink a week compared to 8 or 9. I did start my period on Thursday which I thought might help things shift but nope.
I had huge losses in first two weeks and I knew that wouldn't continue but I don't know why I'm losing not even half a pound in nearly a week and usually this is the point I'd give up on the diet. MJ is helping suppress sugar cravings and junk which is good and as ice spent the money ill stick with it but I had hoped to maybe stay on 2
5 for 2 months instead of 1 and seems like that won't be an option although suppression is still good for 5 out of 7 days.

Abyone else had no loss at all for nearly a week so early into the process?

Hi, apologies if this is blunt or if you already know this, but its meant with the best intentions...It's still cals in vs cals out even with the medication so you need to accurately track your cals and either do a TDEE calculation online (total daily energy expenditure) to work out how many cals you burn, or join a PT or Teamrh who can calculate and advise. This is also crucial for maintenance later on so you don't put all the weight back. Without tracking cals you have no idea if you're in a deficit, which is the basis for losing weight. 99% of the time it's inaccurate racking that's the reason for no loss 😊

Thank you. My TDEE was 2300 cals when I did it and am using My fitness pal to track cals- and they calculated my daily cals as 1539 to lose 2lbs a week on a sedentary lifestyle. I am tracking all of my calories religiously- which I'm also finding hugely time consuming and tedious but that's losing weight for you!(or not losing as I seem to be currently 😅)

Boiled eggs

I've been enjoying boiled eggs, Raw protein bars for my lunch at work and Skyr yoghurt in evenings with 15g Linseed and 30g of raisin granola.

DGonMJ · 18/01/2025 10:26

Adding to the protein snack ideas 😊

Roasted chickpeas
Edamame
Overnight oats with chia seeds
Cottage cheese (although I’m mildly lactose intolerant and haven’t been able to find lacto-free cottage cheese)

SENlife · 18/01/2025 10:31

2nd dose yesterday.
SW 104.9kg
CW 102.1kg
GW 70/75kg
Lost 20cm across the whole body. Not too bad for the first week. Struggling with food though

I had t thought of roasted chickpeas- do you roast your own or buy? If you do your own could you share the recipe please? Thanks!
I’ve also been having a look here for meal ideas www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/high-protein-recipes

What's the struggle currently @SENlife in case we can help / come up with ideas

stilllovingmysleep · 18/01/2025 11:00

@Waffles21 thanks I'll have a look at that bbc site

DGonMJ · 18/01/2025 11:03

@Waffles21
Drain, rinse, dry (with kitchen roll) chickpeas
Air fryer in a single layer for 12-15mins at 190 - shaking every 5mins or so
Add a bit of oil while hot so the seasoning sticks then season with S&P, preferred spices (we have fajita mix)
Ta-da!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 18/01/2025 11:04

I ate too much last night, I’m clearly struggling to change my old mindset, decided to treat myself after seeing such a big loss on the scales so had a bag of crisps, bar of chocolate, a few crackers and a couple of sweets over the course of the evening. I feel terrible this morning, had some diarrhoea (sorry TMI) and just feel uncomfortably full. Haven’t managed any breakfast and don’t think I’ll be eating anything for a while. I won’t make that mistake again, I think it’s actually a good thing overall though, on previous diets (slimming world etc) I would always have a bit of a binge after weigh in which is obviously not a healthy way to live. I’ll be really happy if I can break this habit now.

SENlife · 18/01/2025 11:05

@stilllovingmysleep I have a very limited diet and finding foods that I can eat that are healthy and palatable is an absolute nightmare the majority of my diet this week was a buttered English muffin and mixed nuts 🤦🏻‍♀️

violetsunrise · 18/01/2025 11:05

I lost about a stone and a half in Sept/Oct time last year on MJ, but had to stop as couldn’t justify the cost while tightening my belt for xmas etc. I’ve put on a few pounds but nothing extreme - so there’s a bit of proof maintenance is possible after coming off. I’ll blame the slight gain on xmas 😆

So first 2.5mg dose just after midnight on Friday morning. Day one I felt fine - no side effects except maybe a bit tired. I wouldn’t say I had complete food suppression. I did feel peckish once or twice but had no inclination to act on it and no inclination to eat crisps or any kind of rubbish - so no “food noise”. I ended the day on about 1000cals which I know is too low, but felt I ate well and made good choices. Day 2 I’ll be aiming for 1200cals.

I eat protein yoghurts but they are quite expensive.
Can we have some high fibre snack suggestions too? As I think it's important to keep that up. I can't eat gluten so things like fibre one are out sadly.

Slimming world hifi bars

Raspberries

@MummyInTheNecropolis it happens! You're a human. - and as you say these exactly the habits that got us where we are

Really sorry for the symptoms, hope they ease soon
