I've been on it 4 months,maybe a bit more
Lost 3 and a half stone
But I'm having to use a lot of willpower,to not binge .
The binge urge is still strong.
I'm on 7.5 ,and next week go up to 10 ..
Maybe 7.5 hasn't worked to good for me
I don't know ,it almost feels like it's not working anymore

I could have wrote this, currently on 7.5 and I have gained 2lbs this week. I have another week to go till I move up, I can't wait. I started in September and lost 2 and a half stones, this is the first time I have no side effects abd absolutely no suppression. Its very disheartening as I'm really struggling not to binge.

ChaosDream · 05/01/2025 17:26

I felt like that on 5mg but when I moved to 7.5mg it seemed to work better. Maybe when you move up it'll kick back in.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 05/01/2025 17:32

@Newyearpug , your weight loss to date is amazing! In half that time I’ve managed to lose a stone which I’m pretty happy with.
Perhaps you should speak to your supplier and ask for advice. I hope the move up doses helps you.

Thanks for your replies
Today has been a bad day food wise .
It's stopped me snacking,like I don't eat between meals ,
But my meals are still to big ,I'm still overeating some days .
Or I'm completely unrealistic about what everyone else is eating
I've got it on my head most people are on around 1000 calories a day ,and struggling to eat that .
Where today I've eaten 1600 calories and feel like a failure
But I know long term I can't live on 1000 calories a day , especially without the medication

SilenceInside · 05/01/2025 18:06

1600 could be absolutely fine, or a little bit over for one day. Better to look at a whole week than one day. Do you know what your TDEE is? Then, to lose weight you need to be at least 500 cals below that each day.

HPandthelastwish · 05/01/2025 18:09

1600 sounds a healthier and sustainable amount.

How are you doing with general lifestyle changes - exercise, MH support / addressing the root of the binge eating?

Dueanamechange2025 · 05/01/2025 18:10

You need to look up your TDEE and go under that (around 500 I believe). Depending on your weight now etc that amount of calories might be perfectly fine.

Newyearpug · 05/01/2025 18:14

On Mumsnet, there's a thread where people are saying what they eat in a day on monjroro, and it's way less than I'm eating.i had a look at it ,and didn't get past the first page as it was small amounts of food .
People say they are to full to eat

OP posts:
Puppylucky · 05/01/2025 18:17

I'm on Mounjaro and a slow loser - largely because I'm not starving myself. I probably could eat a lot less than I do but whatever the end of this journey looks like has to be sustainable. I'm really starting to get a bit worried about the general noise around this drug and the expected weight loss. As with everything else on SM people are lying to make other people feel bad.

SilenceInside · 05/01/2025 18:17

@Newyearpug I never read that thread. I think for some of us it can be quite challenging to read things like that, and I'm not in someone else's life and circumstances so what I eat will be different to everyone else anyway.

Have you worked out your own TDEE?

I've not binged on food in years it's under control
But it's taking a lot of willpower to keep it that way
I suppose I'd got it in my head that monjroro helped with that .
Maybe I'm watching to much tictok and my expectations are to high

Yes .I think I've got sucked in ,to all that noise ,and my expectations are now to high
I'm loosing the way a bit

I could've written your post to be honest. 7.5 doesn't feel as if it's actually doing anything at all.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 05/01/2025 18:30

It's far better to eat healthily (1600 a day), than eat 1000 a day as it's not maintainable.

I'm sure people who are big losers tend to post, so those of us that have lost slowly think something is wrong, whereas the 1lb a week is more normal, it's just not shouted about.

I've been on mounjaro for 3 months and only lost 16lbs in that time. I tend to lose about 1lb a week (had a larger loss on the first week). I'm now in 7.5 but struggling a bit with suppression, but do wonder if I've got used to eating a bit more and snacking due to Christmas.

Keep going op, a loss is still a loss.

Shrinkingrose · 05/01/2025 18:33

How come you haven’t started the 10 yet, is it delays due to the bonus dose? Or did you delay for another reason?

Newyearpug · 05/01/2025 18:35

Sometimes it's crossed my mind ,I'm being fleeced by the provider and it's just water in the injections.
I'm having to work so hard to stick to my calories
All the hype around monjroro lead me think it would help me a lot more than it has .
Don't get me wrong ,it's obviously helping,as I never snack between meals now .
But sometimes there's no suppression,no side effects, and think I've injected water

I'd read that you must not go up every month ,you must stay on lower doses as much as possible,so I had an extra month on 7.5

Well no, you mustn’t anything, do you mean an extra 7,5 pen?

just move up to ten, you’re supposed to move up to your optimal dose and stay there,

Notsurename · 05/01/2025 18:55

I’m the same I have 2 more doses in 7.5 and can feel it wearing off a few days after the dose. This is my second 7.5 pen and I’m going up next time to 10. Should have gone up but never mind now. I’m hoping my bonus dose will be nearer 10 than 7.5. I’m not bingeing but eating more at the end of the week and cancelling out the calories gained at the beginning of the week so not loosing. Overall I’ve lost enough (3 stone ) in 5 months so seeing it as a short term blip. I’m eating about 1300 calls when good and 1800 at the end of the week.

Choux · 05/01/2025 19:01

I think many of us are struggling more as we have relaxed our diets over Christmas and faced more temptations than usual. It's hard to get back on the wagon as it were. Did you feel like this last January?

How much are you still trying to lose? What's your current BMI? Do you know your TDEE? I doubt a few days of 1,600 a day is going to cause a weight gain unless you are very tiny in height and weight.

If you still need to lose more weight go up to 10mg and then try to learn more about the calories your body needs so you can be rational about the effects what you are eating will have.

I'm in Sweden and we can only get WLI as part of a programme of change. I'm 3 weeks in and haven't even met the dr yet, just the dietician.

The healty eating plan she's got me on is based on 1500 cals so maybe your expectation of eating 1000 cals is unrealistic.

She's also got me eating at fixed times with 3 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day. I'm quite shocked that eating like this seemed to have turned off the food noise so much that I'm questioning if I'll even need the jabs. Are you going longer than 3-4 hours without eating? Could that be a factor.

That's interesting...do you have to pay for that .
I've felt a bit list really,as the pen didn't come with instructions on how to eat or what to eat .
Are you finding the diet advice helpful
I think I'd of liked that

Newyearpug · 05/01/2025 19:14

Actually,in hindsight
I should of gone up to 10 in December.
And yes 1000 calories a day is ridiculous..I know that ,so I don't know why I'm getting frustrated with myself when literally every day I can't stick to it .
I'm a very impatient person generally..I need to see this as a marathon not a sprint

The programme is free, paid for by public health. We do still have to pay for the jabs if we have them, but can do the programme without. I've been advised:

7.00 am breakfast (around 300 cals)
10.00 am snack (around 100 cals)
1.00 pm lunch (around 500 cals)
4.00 pm snack (100 cals)
7.00 pm dinner (500 cals)

Although she told me that it's more important to eat at the planned times than worry about the calories at my early stage.
