Thanks @Goldleafcat I actually store out of the fridge once I'm using the pen (house is freezing anyway 😂) so that isn't a factor for me.

I have this problem and @Oceangrey recommended taking the pen out the fridge to get it to room temperature plus antihistamine cream. The pharmacy said longer needles (someone else suggested 0.6 so still pretty small) would also help but I haven't tried that. Going up a dose didn't make it worse.

I'm going to try antihistamine cream on jab site straight after then for a couple of days as mine reacts about 3 days after injection

jay55 · 13/01/2025 15:30

Ordered a new water bottle today, really need to get off the fizz as my stomach doesn't appreciate it.
Working from home is the worst for my water intake, in the office it's so easy to top up with lovely cold stuff.

Really hope everyone's digestion stops erupting.

I came on to find out if anyone else is having this problem! I've had a reaction for the last 3 weeks ever since I moved to the 5mg pen.

I let it come to room temp every time I use it so it's not that for me. 24 hours after my jab it goes red and itchy, and stops itching about 48 hours after, and stays red for a few days. I've tried Hydrocortisone cream but not antihistamine cream so will try that later. I don't want to take an antihistamine tablet as they make me drowsy or thirsty.

I've just realised that the needles are a different size! I still have a longer needle left from my last pen (MedExpress sent 6 each time) so I will try that next week and see if it makes a difference. And if it does I'll check my stash of needles (i have to buy them separately with The Family Chemist) and get some longer ones.

Persuaded myself that 2.5mg now completely ineffective, ate gigantic burger lunch as a kind of last hurrah pending move up to 5.0mg on Friday. Now feeling extremely sorry for myself and realising that 2.5mg still significantly affecting my overall capacity 😬

No weight loss this week. I have felt like I was only inching down over last couple of weeks. Was hoping to stick on 5mg but not sure if need to go up now. Hmm.

Novjaro · 13/01/2025 17:47

Sorry to hear so many of you are suffering with side effects, particularly on the 7.5. I took my first 7.5 last Weds and have luckily only had burps etc but had been very unwell on the first couple of 5mg I took. The only difference is the (prescribed) omprazole I’ve been taking (to reduce side effects of steroids) but it seems to be doing the trick.
D&V are the worst. My worst moment was 2am one morning after a 5mg jab, sitting on the loo and needing to vom at the same time but only having a carrier bag handy. Not something I want to repeat. Sorry for the TMI but hope you all feel better soon.

TeenLifeMum · 13/01/2025 18:50

I took my first 7.5mg dose yesterday and I’ve had no side effects at all. Suppression on 5mg was zero, which is so weird compared to week one on 2.5mg where I had such amazing suppression.

KentishMama · 13/01/2025 19:13

Caplin · 13/01/2025 10:17

Need some encouragement, I’ve had this respiratory infection all last week. The cough was intense and I did throw up last week as the cough was bad and was just after my jab. Gradually it eased and by Saturday I felt ok, bit of a cough. Last night the cough and catarrh got worse, and I had jabbed last night. I was so sick all night, fever, nausea.

can’t tell whether the constant catarrh is giving my nausea, or my jab, or both, but I feel like death. Managed to prop myself up on the sofa. Feel a bit better having taken some paracetamol.

husband just trotted off though leaving me to walk the dog, felt so ill!

no point other than feeling sorry for myself, it has been years since I was this ill 😭

I also have a bad cold - caught in the office, several of us are down with the same thing. Absolutely streaming nose and now starting to cough. It's hard to deal with the lurgy and dieting or medication side effects at the same time, so cut yourself some slack and try to calmly wait it out. This is just a blip!

Oceangrey · 13/01/2025 20:05

A surprise 1.5lb off since yesterday 😁.
Next lb down will be a whole stone.

No side effects here on 7.5mg, apart from injection site itchiness which is still there but a lot better if the pen is room temperature.

I usually struggle to drink water but 'fortunately' my office is freezing so I'm really going for the herbal teas.

Ralala · 13/01/2025 20:51

Hello! Sorry I have been awol. Life has been busy lately. Dropped just under 3lbs in the last 2.5 weeks. I’m on jab 11. Taking 3.75 as I can’t tolerate 5mg. 3.75 definitely isn’t as effective but is helping me to manage snacking and keep my food on track. I’m likely going to stop at the end of this pen at the end of month. I would love to get another 5kg off this month but I’m not sure I will manage it.

BeNavyScroller · 13/01/2025 21:34

I don’t log on for a few days and you guys have been chatting like crazy and I’m about 10 pages behind!

I'm on week 7, 2nd week on 5mg
SW 12 stone 2
CW 10 stone 7

really happy with progress so far and getting through a birthday buffet unscathed!

mustwashmycurtains · 13/01/2025 21:51

I've been lurking up til now but thought I should jump in to keep myself motivated. Had logged out of mumsnet as I was wasting too much time on social media so banned myself from commenting on mumsnet threads - but thought this one might be beneficial so i'm back ;-)

SW - 97kg (started MJ early Nov)
CW - 90.5
GW - 69kg

Have been exercising a lot too since October and feel sooooo much more positive that this time I can crack it. I was on both Wegovy and Ozempic over the preceding year. Lost approx 5 kg in total but was nowhere near as effective for me. Mounjaro does not make me feel sick and tired the way the others did either (maybe also why it's working?)

I've just bought my first pen to move up to 10mg but not started yet. Am not sure I should have jumped up to higher dose so i think I'll reduce the size of my first dose when I start that next week.

I have a friend who has now lost 29kg in 5 months on this! She's inspired me and is motivating me to keep working hard at it :-)

KentishMama · 13/01/2025 22:11

Sharing this as it might be relevant and interesting to others. Just had an email exchange with my endocrinologist (Professor at major London hospital, has worked on trials of the meds we're taking - one of the most experienced people with GLP1 in the UK).

I'm 10 weeks in. Have taken 3x 2.5 mg, 4x 3.75 mg, 3x 5 mg. I had 2 days of bad diarrhoea on my second 5 mg dose, but nothing major before or after (the 3rd 5 mg dose seems totally fine).

I asked if I should move up 7.5 mg with my next pen as suppression is not as strong any more.

Response: Stay with 5 mg for one more pen to be sure that the diarrhoea doesn't become a bigger problem. Give the body time to adjust.

Also he was cool with the fact that I titrated up slowly via 3.75 mg.

My read of this: We're playing a long game, people. Slow and steady wins.

I'm curious about how much is just the excitement about actually losing weight and at a better rate than doing it alone, and how much is directly caused by the jab itself and what it's doing hormonally. I've been SO much happier since starting MJ - much more excited and optimistic about the months ahead.
It's definitely liberating not going to bed every night cross and disappointed in myself for having fucked up my eating yet again and full of misplaced optimism that tomorrow would be different.

I caught the tail end of the panorama programme but I think there was talk about increased productivity and mood improvement. I’m going to try and watch it tomorrow at some point.

Holy shit @Demjay (no pun intended). I had food poisoning years ago and it was nowhere near as bad as this. I spent one night on the bathroom floor but two days overall unable to function, I was off work (which I never am) and the stomach cramps were unbearable.

I'm in week 9, currently still on 5mg, and had no side effects at all apart from heartburn and a few sulphur burps until this started last week out of the blue. I inject on a Sunday evening and this started on a Wednesday evening so 72 hours would be about right. But it would have been my fourth week on 5mg so not a reaction to a sudden increase.

If this week is the same I'll have to stop, there's no way I could live like that. I'd take the food noise over crippling diarrhoea and pain, no contest.

Hope it's better for you now!

Gosh - sounds bloody awful. Hope you are better now?

This is my consideration also. No weight loss, but no significant Side effects and I have great suppression.

I felt that my suppression had lessoned a lot on the 5mg and I’ve only lost 2lbs the last 3 weeks , so decided to go up, but I’m honestly now regretting it so much 😭. If your suppression is still good I’d stick to the 5 honestly..

Welcome! 7.5kgs off is fantastic! Interesting that you have taken the other WLI too. Thanks for the insight! Good luck with the new pen.

Your friend’s loss is amazing!

is anyone else on 10mg yet? i've bought the pen as i had no adverse effects on 7.5 so assumed I should move up, but think I've made a mistake and should maybe stick at 7.5?

I think that if you have good enough suppression and you are losing weight steadily, there's no need to move up.

mustwashmycurtains · 13/01/2025 22:38

yes she's done so well - has entirely changed shape. She admitted she was really overeating before but hasn't increased exercise or anything, just the jab and being really careful with diet. inspiring.
another friend however has now lost 20kg in maybe 6-8 months on Wegovy - which barely worked for me at all.

Basically jealousy is now my main motivation! not sure how healthy that is but i'm feeling quite happy on this so running with it......
