If I had my time again, I’d have started HRT much earlier - probably 2-3years earlier (would’ve been mid 40’s for me). I think women wait until their periods stop or the sweats settle in rather than consider the other most subtle symptoms - joint pain, fatigue, feelings of despair (so weird), mood swings, insomnia etc. I realise not everyone can take it, but there are other benefits I’d also never considered- reduced likelihood of osteoporosis, possible reduction of dementia etc. Having watched both my own mother and MIL both end up with both of these health issues ( neither took HRT because of the scares surrounding cancer risk in the 80’s/90’s) it does make you look at preventative action.
Wear SPF every day. And take time to look after your skin - you’ll be obsessed with how many wrinkle you have in your 50’s 😂
I’d also have mixed up exercise activity- not just the gym. Walking has massive benefits for example - and is accessible. I think I’d also have weighed myself more and acknowledged I was gaining weight rather than just buying the same style clothes in a bigger size.
Definitely drink less alcohol and drink more water!
