I would be up for long term micro dosing if that was available and I couldn’t maintain my goal weight but I do remember hearing an interview with Mick Jagger years ago and he said he started to gain weight at a certain time/age (can’t remember the finer details) so he massively reduced his food intake (I think steamed fish/veg) and he was hungry for about 18 months but then his body adapted.

I know from coming off MJ over Christmas that my appetite has shrunk and I think I’ll need another few months to get to my goal weight so I’m hoping I can train my body. It might also be useful to write down everything we eat once off MJ to keep a calorie count. Boring but worth it if it maintains the weight. I definitely prefer being slim to eating.

I’ve just watched that, thanks @lovealongbath. Coincidentally I am posting from the bath, and equally coincidentally I did my first weights workout since October this afternoon. It was very interesting! He basically outlines all the positive benefits of semaglutide and tirpetazide, showing the ways in which it improves heart health, liver function, blood pressure, brain function, etc etc. He also has a fascinating section on exercise and muscle loss. Essentially, if you take either MJ or Ozempic, you will lose muscle, which can reduce your life expectancy. If you lose weight on the drugs without resistance exercise, you lose more weight (fat + muscle), but you have a really high chance of putting it back on. However, if you do resistance exercise, although you lose less overall weight (or lose it more slowly), you actually lose more fat. You turbo-charge fat loss though it might be less noticeable on the scales. You also maintain much more easily when you stop, because the muscle mass helps you to not regain.

However, what he doesn’t explain in this video is that he claims a lot of the benefits are only possible with micro-dosing. Not sure if he explains this anywhere else!

Anyway, leaving micro-dosing aside, he’s certainly given my newly minted weights regime a boost.

Well done! 💪🏻🏋️🏋️🏋️🏋️

Dh and I went out for a tasting menu yesterday so no healthy option but I did pass about a third of mine to dh. I've made sure I'm eating less calories the rest of the week to balance it out!

I bet all the partners here are loving life/extra portions 😂

I’m on my third week of 7.5 and it’s definitely not as effective as the first 2. What happens when we get to 15 and it loses effectiveness? I’m trying not to overthink it as it’s changing my life

Interesting. In what way do you think it is less effective?

Weigh day, only .2kg lost which is annoying as hoped for more to get into the 70s-so close for the last 2 weeks. Hopefully now out of Xmas chaos can get back on track and whoosh

Also waiting for a whoosh next week!

Week 9 Day 1 here (going to take jab when the kids leave for school).
Start weight: 12 st 6
Current weight: 11 st 3.4
Total loss: 16.6 lbs
Loss this week: 2.2 lbs

Very pleased with that!

WoodsWanderer · 10/01/2025 08:17

Daily weigher here as I am on Team RH. Been plodding along losing a little each day this week, yesterday I was down 2lbs for the week and happy with that. Today its shot up by 1.6lbs and no clue why. I know I've not had above 1200 calories any day this week and some days it's been less. Tempted to go with my yesterday weigh in for this week.
Taking my 8th jab today. My next pen is also a 5mg.
If going on yesterday's weigh in total loss in 7 weeks is 15lbs. I expected and hoped for more but I'll take it. I need to start doing weights again I've only been walking for exercise. Feeling a bit disheartened and at the point where I'd normally eat myself happy cos what's the point? I won't obvs but the initial motivation is wearing off a bit today.

I'd take a 2lb loss! Well done! You've also lost over a stone in 7 weeks which I bet wouldn't have happened by sheer willpower alone (I certainly couldn't have achieved that). The weights will stop muscle loss as the body wants to rid itself of the foodstuff before the bad. Keep going!!

Hang in there, @Mounjaropen, your whoosh will come!

I’ve ordered a second 5mg pen because I am losing on it, and I still haven’t got my friend’s discount. This way, I can keep the discount code for a more expensive 7.5mg pen next time.

Final Pvolve for the week done 💪
45 min incline walk done (Episode 3 of 'Departure' on Netflix) very good btw💪
Dog walk done 💪
Ocado weekend food delivery unpacked 💪

Feeling positive and have plenty of energy so ready to tackle today's inevitable email nonsense 😂

Sharing last night's recipe and todays in case it provides inspo- will be leaving the cod/chorizo stew for next week. If anyone wants low-cal alternatives to a hearty food/friday night takeaway, I would recommend Tom Kerridge's weight loss series that was on BBC2 a few years back - he's a dedicated weight loser and has some fab recipes. Tonights is his chicken Tikka recipe which I tend to leave as a whole chicken (rather than chunks of the breast) and serve with salad without the sauce, but the sauce is also delish. I'd also recommend the Hairy Bikers weight loss recipes that were also on BBC2 some time ago - there is a great Chilli con Carne recipe. You can search both recipe archives on BBC Food.

Last night I sent DD this Salmon recipe for her to prep for the family dinner (she was looking for inspo for when she gets back to Uni) - we served it with Brown Basmati rice and Rocket. It's on the BBC good food website (the free bit, not the paid for content) She also prepped the chicken for tonight's dinner as practice for when she gets back to halls. She had made a carbonara for herself at lunchtime yesterday so I got her to make Nigella's Cappuccino Meringue with the leftover egg whites which will be pudding over the weekend for her and her Dad (I might have a cheeky thin sliver - it is delightfully light and very tasty!) It also helps DD understand what to do with leftover egg whites - she is part of a Sunday afternoon baking group at Uni which is quite sweet.

Happy Friday to you all!

I have just watched this video. 50 mins long but very informative.
Covers how Mounjaro works and the positive effects on Liver, brain, heart, and fat cells. Also covers why it’s important to exercise.
Bonus = the gentleman explaining everything is very easy on the eye 😉

This is such a good video! Thanks for sharing. Really interesting especially the muscle depletion....giving me the kick to get back in the gym and lifting weights

Weekly weigh in:

W9D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:17st 12lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 1st 11lb

That new goal does feel a long way off but everything seems to be moving at a really good pace still, so fingers crossed.

I just realised it's a bonus dose day, so I need to psych myself up for the needle, instead of the pen, again 🤢

SerenePeer · 10/01/2025 10:54

Ooh some lovely recipe ideas thanks @Mounjaropen

Those of you on 7.5mg or with diarrhea and vomiting side effects....how long did they take to calm down?

I'm away for work next week and the thought of having to hide in bathroom for a couple of hours in pain is not something I want to risk. Debating either skipping my dose next week or counting the clicks to just give myself 5mg. Anyone have any experience?

Thank you - the chicken tikka masala recipe looks delicious, will definitely be trying that. I actually had that cookbook. But I am a bit of a cookbook hoarder (love food and cooking!) (hence the blubber!) and I had to give myself a very good talking to in order to streamline my ‘collection’ and his was one of the casualties as I’d hardly made anything from his book. Perhaps I had acted in haste!

@Mounjaropen Meant to say I do absolutely love the Hairy Bikers and Hairy Dieter books though, some fabulous recipes. Such a shame to lose Dave Myers. I saw them live at Buxton Opera House and they were hilarious.

@PinkArt sorry if this is a stupid question but what's a bonus dose day? Is it using up the little left in your pen at the end of 4 weeks??

The bonus dose is what's left in the pen after the fourth dose, yes. Although mine have both been more than the actual dose, even though I prime each time. Both times I have got 0.7ml out which is more than the 0.6ml needed for the whole dose. I used a syringe obviously so I know the exact amount.

PinkArt · 10/01/2025 12:15

SerenePeer · 10/01/2025 11:46

@PinkArt sorry if this is a stupid question but what's a bonus dose day? Is it using up the little left in your pen at the end of 4 weeks??

Yes. The total amount in the pen contains the 4 doses, plus enough for priming. The priming amount is more generous than most people find they need though and the amount left equals or is even more than a full dose.
Given the cost of the pens, and that it's still within the 30 days safety window of the pen being opened, it feels wasteful to just bin it.

SerenePeer · 10/01/2025 12:47

Ah thank you @qotsa and @PinkArt
Makes sense.
I'm with Voy and get my pens automatically sent out but my goodness it's expensive. Worth it considering how much I've spent on diet plans, PTs and stupid shakes over the years though 😳 as these injections are actually working for me. Another reason why I'm desperate to figure out a way to manage the side effects as I do not want to stop yet. I've come so far but sill have a way to go before I'm a healthy BMI
