Can you access your account with MedExpress?

I have just watched this video. 50 mins long but very informative.
Covers how Mounjaro works and the positive effects on Liver, brain, heart, and fat cells. Also covers why it’s important to exercise.
Bonus = the gentleman explaining everything is very easy on the eye 😉

I’ve just watched that, thanks @lovealongbath. Coincidentally I am posting from the bath, and equally coincidentally I did my first weights workout since October this afternoon. It was very interesting! He basically outlines all the positive benefits of semaglutide and tirpetazide, showing the ways in which it improves heart health, liver function, blood pressure, brain function, etc etc. He also has a fascinating section on exercise and muscle loss. Essentially, if you take either MJ or Ozempic, you will lose muscle, which can reduce your life expectancy. If you lose weight on the drugs without resistance exercise, you lose more weight (fat + muscle), but you have a really high chance of putting it back on. However, if you do resistance exercise, although you lose less overall weight (or lose it more slowly), you actually lose more fat. You turbo-charge fat loss though it might be less noticeable on the scales. You also maintain much more easily when you stop, because the muscle mass helps you to not regain.

However, what he doesn’t explain in this video is that he claims a lot of the benefits are only possible with micro-dosing. Not sure if he explains this anywhere else!

Anyway, leaving micro-dosing aside, he’s certainly given my newly minted weights regime a boost.

Med express did not deliver my 7.5mgs pen and my dose is due today.
They take days to respond to any message so I doubt I will hear from them until next week.
As a result I have been forced to take the golden dose which I never take and it took three insulin needle injections to get it all in as they are only one ml syringes.
To say I am pissed off is an understatement...and also punctured like an old tyre.
They certainly took my money though, days ago.

Edited

Uh oh. I haven’t ordered yet because a friend has signed up using my discount code, but so far hasn’t been approved and I’ve had no discount email. Worrying now about leaving it too late!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 09/01/2025 22:01

Actually, thinking about the micro-dosing aspect - all of the studies quoted in that video will have been done using the standard dosage, won’t they? Certainly the Surmount trial was. So I don’t see the evidence for micro-dosing.

How come it took so many syringes? A full dose is 0.6ml so one 1ml syringe is plenty?

Ooohhh!!! Interesting! Thanks for the summary. If I find a moment I’ll listen to it. I came on to say I have been to the gym today for the first time in over a year! I didn’t do weights, but did Pilates and a dance fitness class. Weights are next on my list! It felt great. My weight loss has kind of stalled but I’m moving to 5mg so hopefully the joint combo will push me forward!

PandasMum · 09/01/2025 22:47

How would it be possible to have assertions re micro dosing when there have been no trials / research to base it on? The evidence about exercise was very interesting especially seeing the exercise as the main differential to whether people sustain or regain. I’ll definitely focus more on this aspect now.

Cantbesure · 09/01/2025 14:16

@Hundredthmillionthdiet a full dose is 0.6ml. So another half dose would be 0.3ml. So 0.9ml.

I've done my first 5mg. I've realised I lost 4.2kg in my first 4 weeks. And now just 0.85kg in the next 3. It's far too expensive for me to be injecting myself once a week to not lose weight so I need to knuckle down. Hoping the full dose will take me back to better suppression.

Next step is daily exercise and back to hitting my 10K steps as a minimum.

I’m in exactly the same place! Hoping my new pen arrives tomorrow (should be starting it on Saturday). I still am getting terrible indigestion, but in fairness I had that before I started Mounjaro. It has just been worse. But hoping side effects of 5mg are not too awful, and weight loss speeds back up!

Betzlikemetz · 09/01/2025 22:55

Hi- searching the internet for a help forum and so happy I found this. Started 11/11/24 and just about to move on to 5mg.

I was a bit scared going straight up to 5mg due to horror stories of sides effects and also with it being Xmas so did a few weeks of in between doses.

Feeling good and 10kg down.

@phyllidafosset it was a shock to realise I've not really lost weight for 3 weeks. No issues after taking my 5mg so far. Fingers crossed for us both.

@Betzlikemetz 10kg is a great loss. Well done!

They haven’t delivered my 7.5ml either today- Royal Mail said it was out for delivery but hasn’t turned up. I still have two doses though as been taking in between smaller doses on my 5mg pen.

I’m guessing your syringes are smaller than 1ml size as you needed three. A full dose doing 60 clicks from the pen is only 0.6ml.

Fingers crossed the new pens get delivered tomorrow.

Welcome 😊 I am also just about to start 5mg. I had a number of away trips in Dec so didn’t want to risk terrible side effects. Weight loss has slowed to almost nothing (although I did reverse the slight Christmas gain). But want to move towards that new wardrobe necessity (or actually, I will be happy fitting all the clothes I seemed to rapidly expanded out of the minute after I turned 50!?!!).

My loss was quite good at first but then it slowed down. I’m happy with any loss though and thinking the full 5mg will be good for me now.

Well done with your loss x

Thanks. I just turned 40 which is what pushed me to take the injection. My health check was brill about from being obese. I was going to wait to start in Jan but then I thought stuff it- I’ve got to get it sorted for my health.

JasonTindallsTan · 09/01/2025 23:08

Took my bonus dose tonight and whacked another 2.5 in for good measure from my new 7.5 pen. So feck knows how much I’ve taken but I feel my usual mix of nausea and headache tonight - crazy how it comes on almost the minute I remove the needle - and I’m fully expecting more ludicrous dreams tonight.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 09/01/2025 22:58

What do you mean by micro dosing ?

I don’t really know - that particular guy used the term in his video without explaining. I’ve read articles where people stay on 2.5mg, but also others where they go down to 1.25mg. None of it is very clear and it’s all anecdotal.

Pumpkinforever · 09/01/2025 23:58

I think micro-dosing / maintenance is all very new and is an area that will develop over time

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 10/01/2025 07:29

Well it hasn't worked for me
..didn't get much in way of symtoms (except feeling itchy) but no suprression or anything. Just felt soooooo hungry .

I’ve not lost a lb this week but then I have been exercising, whereas I did nothing 23rd dec to 6th Jan so I’d hope my muscle gain is up. I’ll be taking my 11th shot on Monday which will be my 7th 5mg dose. According to shotsy I have 5.09mg in my system today which seems quite strong? I think although my losses have slowed, I’m going to stay on 5mg for another pen.

I think this is the main difference moving forward. As someone in their 50’s your focus does tend to shift towards how you might fare as an elderly person. And your health in General. Having watched both of my parents become bedbound through inactivity, I am determined to remain a sprightly old bird!
