Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Oh I also echo those with job stress. I need a new one and need to change career but it is really stressing me 😬

Getting a bit down to be honest that I don’t seem to have any appetite suppression whilst everyone seems to have lost theirs. Still have food noise too. I am on day 2.

I signed up to Team RH yesterday and they have given me 1900 calories a day which seems way too much.

Feeling a bit lost.

Also going out for a meal tonight and my friend has suggested restaurants where the food is greasy etc. I am nervous incase it causes some gastric issues tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this. I’ve also found the food noise load, principally because my hunger is still present and making me think about food.

It’s early days though so will see what happens come the second jab. It would be very unusual for it to not work for us

Hi everyone :) I've been reading your posts and I'm still switching between 'def doing this' and 'maybe not yet' - normally I'm quite good at making decisions, so I'm not sure why this is so difficult!

I have a pretty good diet, I stick to 1500 cals each day, I don't drink (unless it's a special occasion and then it's 2 cocktails and I'm done) so I'm worried that it's either not going to work, or will only work while I'm on it, then I'll go back to my usual eating and it'll all come back on.

I'm pretty tall and could lose 2 stone - ideally I'd like the lower doses to kick start everything then find a way to maintain it, or am I over reaching there!? I also really don't want any side effects, my body doesn't like medication at the best of times!

Why is this so difficult!

I was like you, I dithered for about 3 months and one morning I had a bit of a wake up call and I was more decisive and ordered it.
My only regret is I didn’t do it earlier. This is absolutely life changing for me. Apart from one episode of constipation, no real side effects. I have PM you.

Jan2025 · 04/01/2025 17:14

Does anyone worry about the stories around deaths linked to it? The Scottish nurse one keeps popping up when I research - I think that’s the one playing the heaviest on me.

Hi, sorry - did you mean me? (PM) as not got anything.

I'm not worried about that one as such as I think there were other issues but gastoperiss is a new one I've been worried about

However I am morbidly obese which carries so many risks which means I think on balance it's less risky to do MJ.

I think that's why it's only really for those with high bmi as its a risks/benefits calculation at the end of the day

I’ve just moved into “obese” BMI after a month of eating whatever I fancied - usually I’m in the ever so lovely “overweight” category but I also have high BP so I’ve got the extra tick. I just want to shift some weight at a faster rate than I’ve ever been able to do - and this seems to be the only thing I’ve not tried!

Hi @Peaceandquietandacuppa I'm in almost exactly the same situation as you! Have the welcome call with Voy on Monday, planning to start on the 1st Jan, BMI of 29 and hoping to lose 2 stone ☺️

Hi @Bucket07 did you start? I plan to start on Monday as the kids are back at school and feels like a good time. I was a bit hungover on NY day so I chickened out 🤣

I have my coaching call booked for Monday too!

Ahbist0 · 04/01/2025 17:59

Received my pen today. Feeling positive but nervous. Starting Monday. Good luck to everyone and well done to those who have started already.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/01/2025 18:01

Im so tempted to start Monday but I need to be with it in person for work with clients and really neeed to leave it til friday in case of side effects. But the pens arriving tomorrow/monday....

There's only one death with a direct GLP-1 link (the poor Scottish lady). People have been on tirzepatide (Mounjaro) since 2022 for diabetes without a link to further deaths.

It's clear it was a contributing factor but did not cause her death.

Overthemoun · 04/01/2025 18:08

i started Thursday am and my appetite has just kind of disappeared over yesterday and today. MFP just said I’ve not eaten enough - that’s new!! No side effects thankfully. No aversions. Just very able to avoid the tonne of Christmas choccy in the house.

ElanBridge · 04/01/2025 18:12

I’d like to join the group please. I did my first jab on NYE, so today I’m on W1D5. I haven’t had any bad side-effects, though I am eating a daily dried fig to prevent constipation! Yesterday I felt full of energy, as if a heavy weight internally has been taken away. I also seem to be more alert, as if a brain fog that I wasn’t even aware of, has gone. I’m using the Nutracheck app (which I’ve used on and off for years) to log my calories, but I’m more focused on getting enough protein and fibre. DH always cooks and we use Gousto boxes for dinners.

sociallydistained · 04/01/2025 18:46

I got a smart tape measure from Amazon to do my measurements, something I've never bothered with before but I think will be really good for this journey. I'd totally recommend, I just did ALL of my measurements so quickly and easily and it's all logged now. Was not pleasant seeing the numbers or myself in the mirror but it's okay cause I'm ready to melt that fat away!

AmythestBangle · 04/01/2025 18:49

I have just ordered my first meds, feeling a little nervous too. I am going to combine with dry January (and maybe dry much longer, possibly) and I already use Nutracheck (but have slipped on this over the last couple of years, hence the creeping up of the weight). I am curious to see what I will feel like eating, I am quite a picky eater but a lover of biscuits, chocolate, cakes etc. Trying to think what food I should get in (work from home most of the time).

Dies anyone have any tips for internet/YouTube workouts that someone who is very unfit could start on? I do belong to a gym and like swimming but I feel too fat for that at the moment, and I am also very time-poor.

Questions1234 · 04/01/2025 18:51

Pen arrived and I did my first jab. Gulp! Annoyingly no sharps box which I think should have been included? Going to read back through all my emails etc now…

AmythestBangle · 04/01/2025 19:04

Oh, I have just ordered a smart tape measure too, that sounds like a good thing!

I started yesterday- haven't noticed any impact as of yet so have taken the opportunity to finish off all the Christmas chocolate today! Good news is I haven't had any side effects though, so..... swings and roundabouts I guess. Good luck!

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 04/01/2025 19:56

My first pen should arrive tomorrow. I’m trying to get back into the mindset of healthy eating. This time last year I completely cut everything out and was averaging about 1100 calories a day. I managed that for 7 / 8 months but only lost a stone. So I’m really worried this pen won’t even help 😢 By Sept, I started to lose my will with it all but I do think if I’d managed to just keep going with that, I’d have eventually lost over the long term. I just couldn’t sustain it. And of course now I have piled it all back on again.

From my experience last year of being so strict but not losing tons relative to that, I’m not expecting the drastic weight losses other people report. Just hoping to kick start the healthy living mindset again.

Gintime74 · 04/01/2025 19:59

Still waiting for mine to be approved so aim to start a 3 meal a day mediterranean plan from monday and then hopefully pens will arrive in time to do first jab next monday.

I took my first jab on Thursday 2 January at 8:30pm and felt a bit weird but ok. Friday I had good food suppression and ate well.

Today I did really well until 6pm when I picked at the kids leftovers. I had a small dinner by my standards but feel uncomfortably bloated.

I’ve not had a poo since Friday which is a little worrying. Anyone else had this problem? I’m normally a very regular pooper..
