Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

2nd jab done today and 5lb lost in first week, yay! I never lose much in first week unless I absolutely starve myself and I really haven't felt deprived of food this week.
I'm keeping a food diary but not actually calorie counting yet. Normally would have polished off all the Christmas chocolates but have really not felt any temptation. I know the weight loss is probably just excess water but it feels helpful to keep me going. My face definitely doesn't look quite so bloated.

Thanks for the tip re 5th dose @ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned 🤗

@user1471600203 give them a call, something may have slipped through the system. They were very quick for me, but I ordered before Christmas as I suspected there would be a huge demand after!

@mounjaro2025 I hope things start working for you soon. I haven't heard of anyone not losing at all if they kept with it, so maybe you're going to have to wait a little longer to see any effect. Think there will always be outliers in any group experience.

@Fruitbatdancer taking an hour for myself (lunch break or not) is high on my list for this year. Take a walk, sit and have lunch, go for a run, do some weights. Anything for me only. I rarely take one, but start early and work late. So, that 'should' be an easy fix. Easy to say after two weeks off...remind me in a month 😂

Chazzadc · 04/01/2025 12:10

Moving up to 5mg how would you use it to transition to say 3.5mg rather than straight to 5mg and how many doses would you get out a 5mg pen before deciding to go to 5mg? Is it certain amount of clicks or is it buy insulin needles and despense urself if so how much ? Tu a just don't like reading the side effects of the transition from 2.5 to 5 straight away so av choose to stay on 2.5 for 2 months see how i go then order 5mg but transition slowly onto it for minimise side effects while time comes ty x

Thank you for your kind words, everyone.

I think I am just a bit disappointed that I still feel the same, still hungry, still thinking about food.

I am wondering if I am in the right mindset to lose weight. But I know I have to do something as I am obese and hate the way I look.

Is 1900 calories high for someone who is 16 stone?

So sorry you are struggling @mounjaro2025 . It depends on your height and age, put the figure in here and see what it says :

https://tdeecalculator.net

It is really early days yet but it must be really frustrating if you don’t feel any different surrounded by a lot of people who are feeling a bit or very different, especially having spent a lot of money. There’s a really really good chance that you will start to notice it as the weeks go on or if nothing happens on the 2.5mg it hopefully will on the 5mg.

The money has gone now and time will pass anyway so even if you don’t feel it makes any difference how do you feel about sticking with us all and using the time whilst you are waiting to make some small changes to what you eat? One thing at a time so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. See if anything comes into your mind and how you feel about making that one change every day for a week, increasing the amount of fruit and veg, drinking more water. It doesn’t really matter what it is, just something so that you can get to the end of the week and feel something small has changed.

With your night out with your friend could you say to her that like half the country you are wanting to make some changes to your health this year and then suggest some places where you know it will be easier to order things that you feel more confident won’t upset your stomach? If she is a good friend she will understand.

Is 1900 calories high for someone who is 16 stone?

So yesterday I felt like I had appetite suppression and didn't really want to eat much.
Now I'm wondering if it was simply that I've eaten so much over Xmas my body literally just didn't need many more calories because today I had breakfast around 0830 and I'm already feeling really strong hunger pangs and like I'm starving hungry. So perhaps I wasn't experiencing suppression at all yday!
Had hoped I could hold out until 2pm for family lunch but going to eat a protein bar now in hope not being ravenous will help me make better choices at family lunch and still keep within my calories.
With my weight which was 20st 5, my fitness pal said to aim for 1570 cals. I have a very sedentary lifestyle and rarely hit more than 4k steps a day (which I am working to improve as part of this journey). 1900 for someone who is 16 stone sounds high to me if you have a sedentary lifestyle BUT losing slowly is better than losing fast because you're more likely to keep it off. I have deffo only lost water weight so far. Keep going- don't give up!

Changingnameagain · 04/01/2025 12:38

@Seaitoverthere thanks for sharing that link
I've just done my calculation and it is saying 2400 cals for maintenance - so is my fitness pal right that 900 cals less than this is a good figure to aim for?

JoJothegerbil · 04/01/2025 12:39

May I join? I took Wegovy for 3 months early last year but I had terrible diarrhoea so I stopped. I've read that Mounjaro has lesser side effects so I've just placed my order with Zava. I need to lose 4 stone and get my menopausal flag under control.

Dietonthego · 04/01/2025 12:42

May i join you on this exciting journey?😊
Just had my first dose of MJ half an hour ago and not sure if i’m imagining things but as soon as it hit me, i felt an instant fatigue/shaky feeling.
I have started a reduced calorie diet a week ago and it’s been going really well mentally. Not sure if it’s do to with me thinking this is it! there is no going back. i’ve reached near pre diabetic range and the heaviest i’ve ever been plus if im spending so much on this, i can not fail.
Anyhow i have kept to a 1600 cal daily intake no bread or sweet treats. I’m hoping to adapt to a little and often diet.
What is everyone planning on eating?

Oasisac · 04/01/2025 12:42

Hi all my delivery from Numan just came without needles ? Has anyone had this and knows where to buy the correct needles quickly I was hoping to take my first dose today. Thanks

Seaitoverthere · 04/01/2025 12:48

Might be worth checking a couple of calculators and see if they come up with the same figure. Can’t remember the one I used to use . I haven’t used MFP for ages , is it like Nutracheck where you set it with the amount you want to lose weekly ? If so I am guessing you set it to lose 2lbs a week and that MFP uses a slightly different calculation and has decided your TDEE is about 100 calories higher and taken 1000 cals off that figure which would give about 2lb a week loss.

500 daily deficit is a pound and 750 cals 1.5lb . I don’t think it works for everyone so there might need to be a bit of playing around with figures to find your level but that will take a bit of time to find as weight loss isn’t linear. Hope that makes sense.

Bellabluea · 04/01/2025 13:12

Got my juniper package today! My BMI is 32 and I suffer with joint issues and I need to get it down.
i think because I’m tall people think I’m thinner than I am and DH doesn’t accept I need help so I’m scared to tell him! Which is silly as we have been married forever and he’s lush but he absolutely believes I’m the most beautiful woman in the world so won’t understand.
I might wait until Thursday to start as I have a few long shifts at work this week and don’t fancy the side effects.
excited but scared!

Changingnameagain · 04/01/2025 13:18

@Oasisac I bought spare needles yesterday at chemist it was £6 for box of 100!
I'll try and upload pics of needles that came with my pen.

Getting a bit down to be honest that I don’t seem to have any appetite suppression whilst everyone seems to have lost theirs. Still have food noise too. I am on day 2.

I signed up to Team RH yesterday and they have given me 1900 calories a day which seems way too much.

Feeling a bit lost.

Also going out for a meal tonight and my friend has suggested restaurants where the food is greasy etc. I am nervous incase it causes some gastric issues tomorrow.

@mounjaro2025 please don't feel too despondent. I took my first dose yesterday and don't feel any different today, I must admit feeling a little disappointed based on other people's posts on this thread- I would love to suddenly feel not hungry! But I'm reminding myself that 2.5 isn't actually a therapeutic dose, it's just to get the body used to the meds, so it's ok for them not to have an immediate effect. If you do a search on MN there are a couple of threads about this, so you/ we are not alone. The good news is that the OPs updated their threads to say that all was fine in the end.

TicTac80 · 04/01/2025 14:04

Hey guys!

So I'm just over 24hrs in after taking first 2.5mg dose. I don't actually feel hungry at all - not sure if this is just a placebo effect or whether things are working - I am about to eat something in a sec. Yesterday, I did a 38min run. For food, I had a piece of wholemeal toast with butter and marmalade for my "brunch". For supper, I had a grilled chicken skewer, some air fried chips and mixed salad. Couldn't finish it all. Later I had a small bowl of rice pudding (I made it with semi skimmed milk) and a satsuma.

Today, I've not yet eaten. No side effects or symptoms (so far!). I've just not felt hungry! I did a 1hr upper body workout (using up some PT sessions before my gym membership finishes on 1st Feb) this morning. The lovely PT is showing me exercises I can adapt to use at home, which is great. Didn't feel shaky after the session but I think I will have to put in reminders to actually eat stuff!

I'm quitting the gym membership as I'm not using it as much as I ought to (FT shifts, single parenting, you know the score). I have a treadmill, exercise bike and dumbbells at home, so can do plenty at home instead.

I'm going to have a small bowl of the rice pudding and throw in some All Bran with it for extra fibre. Tonight, I think I'll make Chilli and peanut Noodles with tofu (and other veg) for me and the kids. It's a Thermomix recipe that I've had my eye on for a while. 609cal per portion, with 25g protein, 30g fat, 54g carbs.

@Bellabluea, I'd just let your hubby know and talk through your reasons for doing it. The Juniper people wouldn't have let the order go through if you didn't meet the criteria. None of us are going into this for a quick fix or for silly reasons, and we all just want to get on top of our health. If it makes things less scary, then tell him. Then at least you'll have his support :)

Thelittlestranger · 04/01/2025 14:11

@TicTac80 nice meal planning!

Today I ate chicken broth and sourdough bread for lunch (which was also last night's tea)

Tonight is eggs, bacon and beans 😋

Tomorrow is weigh in, and 2nd jab day. Quite looking forward to seeing the effects of the second one and how/if they differ.

Bellabluea · 04/01/2025 14:17

I just told him. He was a bit eye rolly but I explained my reasons and he’s fine with it.
Im a biochemist so I do know my stuff and there is mountains of research going back years so im confident this is the way to go.
Ive been thinking back to when i was a comfortable weight and i think 12-13 stone is the target which gives me 3-4 stones to lose.
Bring it on!
Also if anyone follows scibabe on facebook she’s awesome and just did a post about weight loss injections which was very informative.

Oasisac · 04/01/2025 14:47

Thanks @Changingnameagain just got some from the pharmacy!

Pandora71 · 04/01/2025 15:07

I did it! Well kinda…

As I’m a shortie I decided to ease right in starting with a half dose on 1.25ml and see how I get on. I only want to tip the balance by a couple hundred calories intake and I’m content to take my time and find the lowest dose that just gives enough suppression. At least that’s my theory!

SW 160lbs / 11st 6lbs
GW 130lbs / 9st 4lbs (top of BMI healthy)

Pandora71 · 04/01/2025 15:16

@Dietonthego maybe a bit of nerves? How you feeling now?

Dunkou · 04/01/2025 15:19

@Pandora71 I'm interested how you get on with that dose.

I'm short as well, and for my second dose tomorrow I'm considering taking just 2, as I found 2.5 quite intense with the suppression and side-effects. I had a cold at the same time though so don't know how much was due to that.

Yes me to, day 5 and feel hungry. Definitely hunger pangs and having to be super disciplined (which I was hoping the injection would help with). Going to inject again day 7, it maybe that it doesn’t kick in for me until the higher dosage.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/01/2025 15:25

My meds have been posted! I should get them tomorrow. I decided ages ago I'd jab on Fridays (I have to stick to the same day each week) as I have a very in person /client job and will struggle if I get the runs/nausea. I thought after work Friday would give me the weekend to hopefully face side effects.

What day did people feel side effects worse?

However I'm impulsive and will find it hard to resist doing it tomorrow... Which leads me onto my second point!

I'm literally waiting for adhd/autism assessment. It so obviously looks like a link for so many of us. Im a bit nervous about starting adhd meds after only being in MJ a month or two but lkng term really hoping both will help! Also don't want the MJ to mask my adhd for the assessment if that makes sense!!
