Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Mine arrived yesterday so took first dose this morning.

Sw 105kg (lost 3 kg since i ordered on xmas eve myself)
GW 70kg

I have pcos, I'm neurodiverse plus perimenopausal. Food aversion + insulin resistance + wacky hormones = so hard to lose weight.

Let's see what happens.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 04/01/2025 08:32

I've had to stop using the gousto boxes, as I can't afford them and mj at the same time!
But pretty much every recipe I've ever had from them has been 500cals a portion or less, so I'm working through all the previous recipes again.

Changingnameagain · 04/01/2025 08:34

2 days post jab and scales saying 7lb down from starting weight!
Starting weight- 20st5lb
Current weight 19st12lb

Still needing to wee a lot- and not sleeping that well as a result. Also finding my muscles/skin feel tender at night - enough to be waking me a bit when I roll over. V thirsty and drinking lots of water.
Forcing breakfast down this morning to keep headaches and feeling weak at bay.
Yesterday I had 1300 of my 1500 cals.
Family birthday lunch today so will see how I get on with that... there will be crisps, sandwiches and cookies so I'm intrigued to see whether I want to eat them.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/01/2025 08:39

Headaches and feeling weak doesn't sound fun 😔. Hope it wears off soon.

Seaitoverthere · 04/01/2025 08:43

Well done to the losers and I hope it goes well for the new starters. There are Guosto recipes are on their website. I am trying to get together a range of easy, nutritious and quick recipes and DS has started getting interested in cooking which is helping.

Typing this from my bed with an Oodie style hoodie on, electric throw, duvet and another blanket on top as woke up really really cold. Thank goodness I got the electric throw.

Borntofollow · 04/01/2025 08:46

Done my 2nd dose this morning.

Appetite suppression was great days 1 - 5, last couple of days (especially yesterday) I noticed I was getting hungrier and this morning I woke up starving.

Stuck around 1200-1400 calories most of the week, but yesterday found myself having a couple of extra snacks in the evening and hit 1700 kcal - so still a deficit but noticeable that the suppression was wearing off.

Starting last Saturday at 14 stone 9.3 and weighed in this morning at 14 stone 4.4 - so just under 5 pounds/2.2kg lost in week 1 which I am delighted with.

No major side effects here in Week 1, hoping it stays this way!

Have been eating a mixture of Gousto recipes, chicken, veg & salads and soups. Trying to aim for 1000kcal over lunch and dinner, with up to 500kcal then to play with for snacks, milk in teas etc.

Not starting exercising yet as wanted to see how the first week went, but planning on weights 3x a week and a couple of runs (more like jogs...) on the treadmill from this week.

Hope everyone is doing OK and good luck to all the new starters

curlyk456 · 04/01/2025 08:57

@Borntofollow I could have written myself , I did the 2nd jab on Thursday. I lost 6lbs last week, had a couple of side effects and hunger suppression faded away by day 5.

This week I'm not sure I have much hunger suppression but have a little feeling of being full and don't really want to snack and eat. But I'm using my own willpower and have changed my mindset so just not snacking and only having small plates to eat

DaveMinion · 04/01/2025 09:07

I have to say even after only a few hours my adhd symptoms seem much less (ie the constant noise in my head has stfu). Anyone else noticed this. I did read it can help with this so it’s interesting. Also got right out of bed this morning rather than laying in for ages.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 04/01/2025 09:19

Joining this thread after lurking Grin
Had my first injection yesterday, I have 3 stone to lose, which I have lost regained about a million times in the last 25 years!! So this has to be the final time.
Feeling ok, I've had a headache and yesterday my stomach was aching a bit and making some very strange noises.
I have ADHD also and I've noticed today the food noise is so much less. I've always been an impulsive and binge eater so hoping this helps me to change my eating habits long term.

Changingnameagain · 04/01/2025 09:46

Yes! I have felt so much less irritable and overwhelmed yesterday compared to how I am normally since I took my 1st dose. I am pretty sure that one way I've dealt with my ADHD (only diagnosed a few months ago) all my life is getting dopamine hits from sugar and crunchy junk foods. So when I've dieted previously I'm not only dealing with hunger (hanger- v tough to deal with when emotional regulation not my strength) but also sugar withdrawal and low dopamine that I can't fix in the usual way. So this MJ seems to really be helping with the food noise and sugar cravings and keeping me from being hangry and my brain perhaps is not dopamine seeking from food now as a result? Not noticed any alternative ways it is dopamine seeking as yet....

sociallydistained · 04/01/2025 09:48

Yes same feel my adhd symptoms feel less. I feel really excited and hopeful about this medication for my future but then I remember the price and worry about coming off it. I need to stay on it for life but financially I don't think that's possible 🫠

Anyway, day 2 here (injected Thursday night) feeling okay! I'm unwell anyway so headaches and things not sure if they're MJ or not. Loving the appetite suppression so far! Didn't manage to eat many calories yesterday but tried to do protein and fibre. Still not enough protein so I'm going to add clear whey or a protein shake today.

I never ate breakfast I'm used to IF at least until lunch but now I need to be mindful of how I'll eat enough this way (madness to me, worrying about eating enough!!)

Changingnameagain · 04/01/2025 09:49

@DaftNoodle seems there's quite a few of us with ADHD! How brilliant if this helps quell our food noises and impulse eating for good!
I wonder if there's much/any official research into overeating in ADHD-ers. Would be interested to read it.

DaftNoodle · 04/01/2025 09:51

@sociallydistained I'm hoping what I save on junk food will help pay for the injections!!
Have you ever been medicated for your ADHD? I was and read so much about suppressing appetite but it never did for me.

DaftNoodle · 04/01/2025 09:54

@Changingnameagain I've read that addiction is very common with ADHD. I gave up alcohol 2 years ago as I had a very unhealthy relationship with it. Very similar to food - all or nothing!
I know I eat impulsively and also for the dopamine hit so it would be really interesting to see how this medication helps this

cloudjumper · 04/01/2025 09:56

Has anyone noticed that big meals are getting more difficult? We went out for dinner yesterday, and while I did not have a large meal at all (salad-y starter and fish for main, I dessert), I felt super-full and bloated afterwards and still (if slightly worse) this morning. That bleurgh feeling as if I had a massive blow-out and overate...
I'm getting very curious what my scales will say next week!
Energy levels are really good, which I'm very pleased with - went to the gym yesterday and had a good training session. In the past, I've really struggled with energy levels when in a calorie deficit. Fingers crossed this lasts!

mounjaro2025 · 04/01/2025 10:37

Getting a bit down to be honest that I don’t seem to have any appetite suppression whilst everyone seems to have lost theirs. Still have food noise too. I am on day 2.

I signed up to Team RH yesterday and they have given me 1900 calories a day which seems way too much.

Feeling a bit lost.

Also going out for a meal tonight and my friend has suggested restaurants where the food is greasy etc. I am nervous incase it causes some gastric issues tomorrow.

Dreamsof · 04/01/2025 10:54

Well I've just had my first jab! Eeek.

SW: 16 stone. This is the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I need to lose a good 6 stone which feels daunting.

My plan is, if MJ works, to lose 3 on MJ and then go back on to the body coach app. I really enjoy the food and workouts and a couple of years ago I was super fit but being this size now I can barely get into a sports bra let alone do a burpee. Does that sound doable to people? Or do people generally stay on MJ to goal weight?

FatGirlDosing · 04/01/2025 10:58

@Dreamsof, that my plan. I have two stone to lose ideally and then will hopefully manage to maintain. I’m very active and have a good diet - just seem to eat too much! The Zoe app/plan was a killer for me. Unrestricted foods and I piled on a stone on top of gradual stone I had put on since starting a very stressful job with loads of travel. It makes me furious when I see all the Zoe hype! (Appreciate it must work for lots of people though).

OP posts:
Dreamsof · 04/01/2025 11:18

@FatGirlDosing the stressful job is what did it for me. I put on 4 stone in 2.5 years. I've changed jobs now but honestly it just feels impossible to get back to the fit healthy me from this weight, hence MJ.

I haven't looked into Zoe but sounds like I'll be avoiding!

Hi, I started Wednesday and I'm not convinced I have food suppression. I'm eating less, but I'm at home as the kids are off school, so no nipping out for a nice lunch and I think I'm just generally mindful of what I'm eating. I don't see the point in eating as I was, if weight loss is to be sustainable. I could easily eat a giant Toblerone but I won't! Only time will tell.

Try not to let other people's experiences get you down. This is your own journey and they will all be different. Not everyone gets suppression instantly - like any new healthy eating regime this takes time, and making the right choices. Keep your head up - you are only a few days in.

Thelittlestranger · 04/01/2025 11:30

Another here who has let work take over - this year is about being more mindful about myself and what I need.

On 6th day today - don't feel hungry. Don't feel 'full' like earlier in the week - but happy not to eat.

BusyBeatle · 04/01/2025 11:30

@mounjaro2025 don't be down. I've read on other threads that for some suppression didn't kick in until the 2nd dose. Everyone is different. Who did you order through? Do they offer some sort of support? Hang in there. I've also read on some slow losses threads how others didn't feel anything until 5mg but managed to steadily lose weight for time. Consistency is key.

Fruitbatdancer · 04/01/2025 11:46

Interesting that I too put stressful job/jobs at the heart of this, I think I’m cortisol heavy too so I’m trying to be more zen! I’ve started the year with the resolution to do more stuff for me! Work life/ mum life took over last year, I always come last. I don’t mean I’m suddenly going to be selfish 😂 just that I’m going to book regular hair and nail appointments and do mounjaro! Might schedule the odd lunch break too!
