Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

My weight when I ordered was 20st5lb
Just weighed and I'm 20st 1lb.

Don't think the weeing I did was 4lb of fluid so think I might need to get some new scales...!

sociallydistained · 03/01/2025 08:17

Same here I've lost 5lb since weigh day Saturday for my prescription but I've had a terrible cold and flu bug since Monday and have been eating less than normal anyway. Trust now for me to start losing weight before the drug 😂

So I took mine last night at 8pm after a day of feeling marginally better and well not sure it was the best idea as I was shaking like a leaf all night like I had a temperature again. Couldn't get warm then was sweating. I'm at work today and thinking whay a silly idea to start it being unwell before first day back but here we are. I'm at work and so far the thought of any food makes me feel sick.

cloudjumper · 03/01/2025 08:22

@mounjaro2025 I did the jab in Tuesday evening and woke up the next day with no hunger/appetite.

@Changingnameagain I've also had a really dry mouth and felt dehydrated when waking up yesterday and the day before, I was wondering if that was the drug. I've been drinking nearly 3 L of water each day, so I'm not actually dehydrated.

I am amazed at how well it is working. I literally forgot to have lunch yesterday, that never happens! And I'm actually struggling to get to my daily calorie target because I just don't fancy eating. And more surprisingly, I don't fancy sweets! All the food noise is gone. Liking this, I really hope it lasts.

undercoverhero74 · 03/01/2025 08:43

So that's the first week done!

SW-101.9kg
CW - 99.05kg
GW - 80kg

That's an initial loss of 2.85kg in 1 week!!

I have felt very little suppression but have stuck to a calorie deficit where I can which has been a lot easier.

I don't think I have had any noticeable side effects. I had a horrid cold at the start of last week so don't know if the headache/laches was due to that of the jab but nothing unbearable.

Just taken my second dose and excited for this week 😊

Anyone thinking about doing it just do it! You won't regret it.

Thelittlestranger · 03/01/2025 08:45

Some good news from those who jabbed first. My jab day is Sunday, so will jump on the scales then. A quick look two days in was already showing good signs.

I was also really thirsty on day 3. Sounds like a potential trend..?

Went out for a curry last night. I ate a little bit of everything, enjoyed it, and came home feeling 'just right.' Not so bloated I couldn't talk and wanted to sleep. You feel better when not eating all the food 😁

Today is Day 5 - not hungry, and will skip breakfast again and have lunch and dinner. Thinking eggs and maybe bacon for lunch, and home made chicken soup with crusty bread for dinner.

Going to have a glass of wine tonight - have decided not to count the cals of that. I'm in enough of a deficit from the lack of calories the first two days to have some flex - and on NYE, despite only having three drinks, I ate less to stay low - and felt quite weak the next day.

For those wondering when to start, I'm quite pleased that I took my jab on a Sunday, as the suppression is following how I would usually try to eat on a 'diet.' Lower cals on Sunday/Mon/Tues/wed, calories target on Thurs and a little extra flex on Fri/Sat. @Seaitoverthere - you mentioned you do similar flex on your cals I think? And well done on the loss!

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 08:56

I have woken up after doing first jab last night at 8pm and I don’t know if I want to eat breakfast or not? I don’t actually really have anything in either to eat.

I did have, and still do, an incredibly dry mouth though all night!!

I also feel really tired but that’s probably just me and not MJ.

Dunkou · 03/01/2025 09:00

Well done all, it's great hearing the updates.

I jabbed Sunday - in the couple of days afterwards my weight went up 2 pounds and has now settled back to SW. I'm not concerned, I've had quite a big calorie deficit so know it will come off at some point. I also didn't put on any xmas weight, so I suspect if I hadn't started on the MJ I would have put on 2lbs this week as I ate a lot in the week before I jabbed.

So with that logic I'm feeling I've 'lost' 2lbs. Whether right or wrong, my 'logic' keeps me happy!

I think it's quite individual as to whether you skip breakfast. I've never been able to fast as I just feel too sick, and it's the same on MJ. I have to eat something, however small, pretty regularly not to feel nauseous.

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 09:07

Do I just continue to eat normally for now? Or be more healthy?

RosaBaby2 · 03/01/2025 09:13

Week 1 weigh -6lbs

Seaitoverthere · 03/01/2025 09:16

Thanks @Thelittlestranger , not much loss but that’s ok. Yes I try not to have exactly the same amount of calories each day and generally go for heavier days at the weekend and cut back during the week as in my head when a naturally slim person has a big meal they have a lighter day the next day to compensate. As I am not one I don’t know if this is actually true 😀

Also I think it makes it more sustainable long term, prepares for maintenance and gives a psychological break from feeling restricted. I don’t think it will work for everyone as everyone has a different way of thinking and I think it is really important to try and work out what that is and go with it.

However given these drugs seem to affect people and result in them thinking in ways they haven’t before ie. Seen people describe it as flicking a switch in brain then that may all not matter whilst on them but might come into play again further down the line at maintenance for people who chose to come off totally.

Seaitoverthere · 03/01/2025 09:17

Some great week 1 losses!

I’d try to be more healthy. What you ate normally got you to being obese so you are going to need to change it now and for the future to stop you regaining in the future.

The drug will help but we will all need to work at it. I think the advice is to make sure you keep your protein and fibre levels up.

sociallydistained · 03/01/2025 09:33

Im definitely going to try and use this new power for good 😂 I.e. making healthy meals. I got so bad I couldn't even prepare meals I just wanted to snack and eat immediately so no thought whatsoever went into what I was eating and why. I have all the nutritional knowledge but couldn't apply it at all!

UnderandOverwhelmed · 03/01/2025 09:44

Hi all, I just started on Wednesday on Mounjaro and I was violently sick last night. I don't think it can have been overeating as I ate very little yesterday anyone have any advice?

MuddledMiddle · 03/01/2025 09:50

It's so reassuring to hear everyone else's experiences and to be able to swap tips and tricks. Thank you all.

I did the first jab Tuesday when it arrived, and was surprised how easy it was. That evening I had a few twinges in the injection site (stomach) and weirdly on my arms where I've had previous jabs/injections too. But that passed very quickly.

It's tricky to know what other symptoms are side effects of MJ and which are my usual as I have a disability (ehlers danlos) and PCOS. I already take Omeprazole for GERD but did notice that despite taking it, I was still having a few acid burps although it was only briefly. Yesterday I had a slight headache but again this isn't unusual for me so hard to pinpoint if MJ is the cause.

In terms of intended effect though, I found Wednesday I had a complete change to my attitude to food and hunger. We went for brunch and i would usually want a large breakfast, but chose eggs benedict instead. I could usually 'go again' after something like that but this time I was satisfied and that was that. Didn't want any snacks or even eat out of boredom/wandering hands. Felt slightly hunger for dinner, ate a smaller than normal portion and turned down pudding as I was nicely full. Didn't even fancy a glass of wine.

This pattern has repeated Thursday. I'm ready for normal meals, but eating more balanced meals at a sensible portion size and being satisfied with that. I feel like now, calorie counting isn't about starving myself and ignoring the hunger pangs, as they're just not there. I'm really hopeful that, as I've got this effect just from the starting dose, that progressing through, this will actually change my life.

Sw: 31.12.24 221lbs
Cw: 3.1.24 218.2lbs
Gw: 130lbs (may change)

So current loss 2.8lbs. I know this will largely be water weight, but I definitely feel less bloated!

I was sick the first night as well.

I got some Rennies and slept with 2 pillows after that for a couple of nights. I was getting acid burps as well.

I'm 5 days in and haven't been sick again but nauseous a lot. I'm sticking to eating little and often with little fat, spice or fizzy drinks.

Overthemoun · 03/01/2025 10:03

I’m trying and failing at not symptom spotting but 24 hours in, I think I feel completely the same. I did manage to stick to 1200 calories yesterday and no refined sugar.

Thank you! I have the acid burps as well, I thought it might be from the eggs I ate but its difficult to cut them out as I'm a veggie and need protein from somewhere!

Dunkou · 03/01/2025 10:08

@UnderandOverwhelmed I've had to go heavy on carbs and protein bars for a few days as just couldn't stomach eggs etc.

Managed some chicken last night so I think it's just a short term thing.

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 10:09

I really want to stick with this, I do. However I already have quite bad toilet anxiety (as in I am worried I will need the toilet and won’t be able to find one), I am just getting myself into a bit of a panic thinking long term about the programme and how severe the gastro effects might get. I am fully aware I might not get any.. but my anxious brain is already telling me “well you can’t go to xyz anymore incase you are ill”. I don’t know if that makes any sense?

I am obese and I desperately need to lose weight this year but I don’t know, I’ve just woken up this morning with a bit of regret.

BraveStarr · 03/01/2025 10:21

Late to the party but can I join please?

Just been approved and awaiting my delivery.

5 stone to lose and really hoping this will help me!

Kay2000 · 03/01/2025 10:35

My delivery is today and I think I’m going to do injection on Sunday. Although wondering if I should do it straight away, as Friday nights and weekends tend to be when diets traditionally fail for me. But I’m trying not to see it as a diet, just eating when I’m hungry and (hopefully) saying no to the extra food that does the damage. I’m really hoping I get no horrible side effects like vomiting as I’m needing to lose a lot of weight and will be in for a long haul if MJ helps me stick to a calorie deficit diet. I decided to print a BMI chart to add to my health journal, thinking it’d be motivation to see progress. To discover I’m actually off the scale of most 🥴. Hubby said well there’s your first target, the weight that gets you on the chart. I’m 22 stone, so yes very overweight but I’m sure I’m not the fattest person in the U.K. 🤔

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 03/01/2025 10:38

Wk1, day 5 I am HUNGRY this morning! Just had scrambled eggs on toast and have eaten a good hour earlier than I've eaten for the rest of the week. Although I do feel full now.
Got on the scales and I'm down from 101.7 kgs to 100.1 hoping to get below 100kg by the end of the week! I know that everyone is different but I've honestly had no gastric side effects, no constipation or diarrhoea just as regular as always (tmi).
This is not the heaviest I've been but I was creeping back up there and I feel like such an idiot as I worked so hard to get down to 73kgs but bad choices and menopause really piled the weight back on over the last 3 years. I tried everything to shift it, I've done WW which worked the first time, Zoe which cost an absolute fortune and was NOT worth it, the blood sugar diet which is not sustainable and countless others! I'm hoping that this will help me to recognise when I am full and switch off the food noises which have decreased this week.
If you are on the fence, although I am in very early days, particularly if you have the pen sitting in the fridge, I'd say go for it!

I felt similarly to you in terms of anxiety over toilet access etc. However I think if you eat lightly on day before jab, day of jab and day after you should be fine. And keep up 2l water intake too. So far my main toilet issue has been needing to wee so often- which will be an issue when I go back to work (teacher) but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. If it continues to be really problematic I will speak to HR and explain I'm on meds which are causing frequent urination and make a plan. There's always a way round these things. I appreciate if I had no2 issues that would be a different ball game.
Would it make you feel better to carry an 'in case of emergency pack' with you? Eg couple of nappy sacks, spare undies, pair of leggings, wet wipes, hand sanitiser and diocalm tablets or similar? That way you at least know you're prepared for all eventualities if the absolute worst should happen (which I'm pretty sure it won't)
