Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Would it be ok if I asked what people are roughly paying? There is a local cosmetic clinic (presume they have a qualified RN or Doc etc doing Botox) who are advertising as "from £45 per week".

mounjaro2025 · 02/01/2025 20:29

I am with Juniper. They’re expensive but I wanted the support.

I’m not a January starter but I had to respond to this.

This sounds really scary and irresponsible.

Mounjaro is a prescription only medication, issued to you and you alone. Beauticians should not be offering it out to their clients.

The price is around £100-200 per pen directly from regulated pharmacies.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 02/01/2025 20:32

MedExpress had a 50% off offer in December so I paid £75 and will be paying £150 going forward.

I paid £140 from Asda pharmacy online. £45/week sounds pricey to me - plus not sure how they're able to legally prescribe unless they're GPs doing beauty on the side?!

sociallydistained · 02/01/2025 21:10

Absolutely wouldn't be going with anyone but a reputable online pharmacy or gp. 180 from the get go is steep and it doesn't sound legit either 😩

mounjaro2025 · 02/01/2025 12:08

@therocinante how exciting - we are starting our journeys at exactly the same time! How much weight are you hoping to lose?

@emmsyg glad you managed to inject all smoothly! I am actually doing it with Juniper as I wanted the extra support. I am aware it will start to get pricey but I hope it’s worth it. I also agree re over analysing everything - I know I am going to be a sucker for this so I really just need to calm down and go with the flow.

I want to lose 5 stone - which feels absolutely impossible at the moment, but first dose just done now so let's see how I get on! What about you?

hetty37 · 02/01/2025 21:30

Well first full day done - I never eat breakfast but normally look forward to lunch about 11.30 start to get hungry - not today!!!! Just don’t fancy anything - had homemade soup and when I got home after a sauna I had a bowl of Greek yogurt with dates - in bed now - not hungry - only side effect dry mouth but drank water all day - this is so weird but brilliant!!!

mounjaro2025 · 02/01/2025 21:32

@hetty37 I jabbed for the first time about 1.5 hours ago and I feel like my mouth is suddenly very dry 😂

Go for it, what have you got to lose! 😉

Ahardyfool · 02/01/2025 21:43

I’ve just sat and gone through ALL my plant based/focused recipe books looking for ideas for meals. Planning to cut all sugar (other than naturally occurring) as have managed an entire year sugar free in the past and it made everything taste sweeter after about a month so I actually quite enjoyed that experience after the initial cold turkey. I find breakfasts the hardest. When I do have breakfast it’s usually involving toast and butter or porridge made with water which would be fine if I didn’t then add two tablespoons of clotted cream and a loaf of brown sugar on top! Am hoping that stirring but butter into porridge and maybe banana might be tasty and more suitable. Not sure how to replace toast yet…
less worried about main meals as I will be happy with veg and a small amount of protein.
how much meat have people got away with if you’ve done this before? We live on a farm and have a freezer full of our own pork and neighbour’s beef which I was looking forward to eating!

Ahardyfool · 02/01/2025 21:57

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for where I might bulk buy nuts and also dates (and no I won’t be exclusively purchasing Medjool dates just so I can blend them up in a magimix thanks very much Ella Woodward!) so I don’t have to remortgage the house in order to stock up?

RosaBaby2 · 02/01/2025 21:58

Day 6

Here's my meals for anyone it might help, I don't mind being repetitive and I can't describe how unbothered I've been about food. I've been to the cinema and not eaten a thing, I've been to mcdonalds twice and not eaten a thing - it is so strange I just don't care about food anymore BUT I've really enjoyed tracking my food and making healthier meals.

I've eaten porridge with 2 tsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds and a drizzle of honey every morning.

Lunches have been

1 slice warburtons Protein bread, 2, 3 chicken mini fillets
Cucumber
Subway Chicken tikka salad

Dinners

Chicken breast
Beef stir fry
Pork steaks (the flavoured asda ones)

Mostly with just broccoli but also sprouts, carrots etc

Snacks

Nature Valley protein bars
Babybel light

Clear protein shakes
Electrolyte tab in water once
Lots of water
Lots of cuppas with a tiny bit milk each time.

mounjaro2025 · 02/01/2025 22:50

When did everyone’s appetite suppression kick in?

I only did my first jab 3 hours ago but I think I was expecting to go to bed not wanting any food tomorrow. Except I am going to bed thinking about what I can gauge on for breakfast 😅😖

Fruitbatdancer · 02/01/2025 23:03

I’m 24 hours post first jab, appetite is gone, had to push myself to eat a little of something as knew I needed fuel even if not hungry.
had tummy pains on and off today, and lots of trapped wind/ burps, and a headache, small bruise at injection site, but all pretty manageable with a paracetamol and more water. I hope that’s as bad as it gets!

broccolini · 02/01/2025 23:56

First 2.5 in the tum done! Lots to lose... fingers crossed

DGonMJ · 03/01/2025 02:35

Hi all, would love to join you. Have just confirmed my order through Juniper on the last day of my holiday. Seems like deciding to go on WLI is a bit like TTC - scary, excited about the possibilities, but so private due to fear of judgement. Hoping first dose will arrive Saturday for a Sunday start. Back to work Monday.

ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned · 03/01/2025 06:11

I’m exactly 6 days from my first dose. I had no side effects at all (I don’t think-I’ve had a really heavy cold so I’m not sure what is cold and what is MJ!).

The first 5 days, the appetite suppression was great-no hunger at all really, and when I did get hungry it was just a few pangs, and then I would have a plain piece of chicken breast or a protein bar and it would be gone again. I have had 2-3 snacks a day, but they have been completely different to what I normally go for-normally I am all about the sweets and this week it has been slices of apple or a very small bowl of yoghurt and honey, and it has really hit the spot! I haven’t had any hunger shakes, I haven’t felt weak and I haven’t had any brain fog.

I had a HUGE wee the first night I was on it, and over the first two days the scales moved from 85.7kgs to 84.6, which felt amazing. I stayed at 84.6/84.7 for the next few days, but knew I was in calorie deficit so just carried on as normal. We had a really busy New Year’s Eve, and I walked for nearly 2 hours with my 7.5 year old in a sling on my back, so was physically exhausted by the end of the day and knew I must have burnt some decent calories. I also had a glass of Prosecco at midnight and two slices of takeaway pizza, but chose the two smallest, which is very unlike me!! I was scared I would be really sick because of the pizza, but had no ill effects from it at all.

The scales didn’t move for the rest of the week, but yesterday the hunger definitely started creeping back in. I am finding that most of the day I am happily eating barely anything, but need something a little more substantial for tea.

I had a really important deadline to hit by midnight last night. Normally the stress of that would have me eating like a mad-woman (my kids feed off my stress, so even though I stay calm on the surface they become impossible to put to bed, make 1,000x more mess and become way more demanding in the run up to a deadline, so that any time I have to work in the evening is eaten up, therefore fuelling more stress and more eating!). I slept really poorly on Wednesday as was trying to work from my youngest’s bed until 4am, and a bad night’s sleep usually has me hitting the sugar, but despite me registering the fact that I wanted junk food I found it so much easier to just not go and get any.

Yesterday the hunger started creeping in about 4pm. I had a protein bar, but was hungry again an hour later so also had a protein yoghurt and a little bit of fruit. At 8.30pm I was hungry again so made an omelette, and was working until midnight so found myself hungry again at 10pm, when I had another protein yoghurt and an apple, with a small bowl of ice cream (and didn’t feel the urge to go back for seconds!!). I have woken up this morning (5 hours later) hungry, which I haven’t had all week-normally I have been able to stretch it until 11am. HOWEVER, I had another massive wee in the night and the scales have dropped again from 84.6 to 83.7!!! I lost a whole kilo overnight!! So I am exactly 2 kilos down in 6 days!!!! That is absolutely insane!!!

I have tried and tried and tried diets-I have done keto, Exante (and NewYou when Exante shut down), I have tried going vegan, I have followed Deliciously Ella, I have done Fast 800, I have done OMAD, and nothing has really helped. I went from 95kgs to 77kgs on Exante and was really proud of myself, but found it near impossible to keep going as we meet at friends’ houses for tea a lot, and they come to us etc, and everyone was always really disparaging about me doing it despite the weight loss being obvious after a while, and in the end I couldn’t hack the comments and gave up. Over the next year I crept back up to 85kgs, but told myself if I could maintain for 6 months I could go onto MJ as a last ditch attempt, and I am so glad that I did!!

Seaitoverthere · 03/01/2025 07:21

Well done @ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned !

Week 1 weigh in for me, 1.2lb off.

Therealmetherealme · 03/01/2025 07:27

@ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned you're a few days ahead of me, so thanks for the heads-up on losing the suppression. I started Wednesday morning and I can't yet decide how much is will power/awareness
of what I'm eating and how much is MJ.

My main issue at the minute is the burping, over night they became 'wet'! That's the only way I can describe it. They've gone again this morning thankfully. I have a food shop being delivered tomorrow, anyone have any tips on what to get.

So far

Peppermint tea (although I know I won't like it)
Gaviscon tablets.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 03/01/2025 07:31

@ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned Thanks for the detail. I hoping to start next week and hearing experiences is so helpful!

SneakyLilNameChange · 03/01/2025 07:41

I’m starting 2.5 today- feeling v nervous but needs doing. Im a lower BMI than some (28)but have PCOS and hypertension despite being less than 40 so giving it a go.

Changingnameagain · 03/01/2025 07:52

So I'm about 12 hours in from jab 1 and I really felt the dry mouth badly after about 3.5 hours @hetty37 ! Woken up with dry mouth too. I've spent the night up and down weeing as well and had a few gripe pains like I need a number 2 but nothing actually happening that end.
Not desperately hungry right now but will eat some smoked salmon on wholemeal at some point this morning as a breakfast
