fat girl GIF by jessthechen

Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Late to the party but can I join please?

Just been approved and awaiting my delivery.

5 stone to lose and really hoping this will help me!

Welcome, it looks like there's a few with 5/6 stone to lose

therocinante · 03/01/2025 11:33

First day after the jab and I haven't eaten any of the leftover Christmas chocolate in the office which is something! I felt really nauseous last night when I was falling asleep but fine today thankfully. My problem is that I have also have ARFID so finding something that I can eat that's healthy/won't disagree with my stomach while on the mounjaro is tricky, so need to do a big shop tonight with stuff I know I'll actually eat, or I fear I'll struggle a bit!

TicTac80 · 03/01/2025 11:45

Hey all, mine has just been delivered!

Current weight this morning: 76.2kg, body fat: 36.5%.

That fat % is the thing that really worries me.

What time do people normally start taking this? Is it better to do it in the evening or first thing? I work shifts (long day shifts) and am not back at work until Tuesday. So that should give me some clear days to get a hold of any side effects.

I've been trying to get going with intermittent fasting (16:8) and logging food intake, which hasn't gone badly. Had a rest day yesterday, but otherwise have been doing more exercise.

Same here I've lost 5lb since weigh day Saturday for my prescription but I've had a terrible cold and flu bug since Monday and have been eating less than normal anyway. Trust now for me to start losing weight before the drug 😂

So I took mine last night at 8pm after a day of feeling marginally better and well not sure it was the best idea as I was shaking like a leaf all night like I had a temperature again. Couldn't get warm then was sweating. I'm at work today and thinking whay a silly idea to start it being unwell before first day back but here we are. I'm at work and so far the thought of any food makes me feel sick.

Hope you're feeling better soon! Rotten luck to be feeling poorly at same time as starting the jab.

Hope you have a successful big shop later today! Key thing is creating the calorie deficit so even just learning to eat less of your normal safe foods will be a win!

Changingnameagain · 03/01/2025 11:56

@TicTac80 I did mine yesterday about an hour after dinner and a few hours before bed. I started getting a really dry mouth before bed and was conscious of feeling a bit achey in night although that could be because I'm on 3rd day of kettle bell workout in evenings.

Dunkou · 03/01/2025 11:59

@mounjaro2025 please don't be too worried. I'd suggest you tweak what you are eating though. It's recommended to keep away from processed food, saturated fat and fried food. And increase lean protein.

Even then maybe introduce each food to see if it's 'safe'. I've seen on other threads that people react to different things, even mushrooms and lettuce.

I have been nauseous, but toilet wise no issues - it's actually an improvement, I usually have a nervous stomach and suddenly need the loo, but there has been none of that so far.

MounjaroNC · 03/01/2025 12:22

Nervously ordered my first set of pens (two months worth). I’m in the overweight category but am pretty short so the two stone of extra weight seems more significant on a small frame. Pretty worried about side effects and energy levels with two young kids. How is everyone finding it?
Very best of luck to everyone on this journey.

TicTac80 · 03/01/2025 12:22

Blow it, I have just given myself first dose :) I'll keep you guys posted as to how I do.

I'm going to get on treadmill to do my jog (30mins, only 4mph), and then get on and do my food prep: I normally batch cook a load of meals for the freezer and prep a large salad (and fruit salad) for the week. This just means that there is healthy stuff to grab as and when I/the DC fancy it (rather than being tempted to dial for takeout). For work, I tend to take in a salad with either some cheese, hardboiled egg or chicken/beef (I slow/pressure cook these and stash in freezer)...or some leftovers. On the days I work, I'm out of the house between 6:30am and 8:30pm, so it's important for us to have some easy meals on hand to reheat (or for the DC to reheat).

Luckily, I don't:
-have a sedentary job (nurse).
-add sugar to drinks (I rarely drink fizzy drinks, and only have black coffee or tea).
-have cakes/biscuits/chocolate in the house very often. I do have the occasional thing like that but not too often.

I do have a weakness for cheese and crackers...but I still have two unopened boxes of cheese from Xmas!!

Hoping to start cycling to work when the weather is not so cold!! I spent my teens, 20's and 30's at around 55kg - 60kg. Went up to 70kg when I was last pregnant (2013) and then lost that weight quickly. I didn't start driving until my late 20's so would walk/cycle everywhere. I'm sure that helped keep me fit/trim. But small steps first: jogging on treadmill for 30mins or so :)

UnderandOverwhelmed · 03/01/2025 12:28

I should say I also have almost 6 stone to lose.
Starting weight - 223.6lbs
Goal weight- 140lbs
I've yoyoed over the last 12 years, got down to 127lbs but then back up and most recently down to 162lbs just before getting pregnant. I'm aiming for slow and steady this time rather than my usual frenzied and extreme dieting that obviously just doesn't work long term. Interested to see my weight next Wednesday after 1 week.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 03/01/2025 13:34

I didn't think I'd felt much suppression after the jab yesterday, as I've been thinking about food all day.
Until I had to force myself to eat lunch, and I realised that yes, I was thinking about food, but more on the lines of 'oh I'd be eating this now, and this now, and i'd be thinking of lunch now' not actually wanting to eat it.
What is this voodoo magic?

VelvetWildflower · 03/01/2025 13:59

Half a pound off this morning. Not surprising since I ate nearly 1600 calories yesterday so getting that under control today. Just had a big chicken salad!

4.5lb off since last Sunday which is insane to me. When I diet generally I don't lose this much water weight in a week. Hoping to start Sunday with a 5lb total week loss!

Cabinfever20 · 03/01/2025 14:41

Day 2 for me. I don't have any appetite at all and just had cottage cheese and raw cauliflower and broccoli for lunch. I had an edamame stir fry last night and will have the same with chicken tonight. I've bought some protein yoghurts and Fromage Frais to try and keep my protein levels up, but think I will struggle with the extra water. I only managed 650ml yesterday with some mugs of tea. I haven't had any side effects, apart from feeling very cold in bed, but it might be my cold causing that. My daughter who is also on Mounjaro said that she wasn't able to get the bonus dose out of her pen today and thinks the manufacturers have changed the design. Has anyone else found this? Although I guess no-one on this thread has got to that stage yet.

Cabinfever20 · 03/01/2025 14:43

I forgot to say there is a tin of Heroes which someone left here on New Year's Day. I have no interest in it at all!

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 14:57

I definitely don’t have any suppression yet. I am hungry!

DearDeadrie · 03/01/2025 16:08

Day 4 for me and no side effects at all, i even forgot to eat my yogurt as I'm a binge eater, so forgetting to eat something is unheard of, i got hungry yesterday só had some fruit and that was enough, not yet eaten today but i have prepared dinner and normally i can't wait but until now i forgot all about it.

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 16:35

I am feeling quite down that I still feel like I want to eat. So many people seem to get immediate suppression within the first couple of hours.

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 16:58

Has anyone signed up to the Team RH app to support those who are taking mounjaro?

Grecianrainbow · 03/01/2025 17:01

Not sure if I have side effects on day 1 as I’m also ill so had a headache before first dose yesterday. But I had my usual breakfast- yoghurt and fruit with a tsp of chia seeds. Then didn’t want lunch till 2 which is unusual and felt satisfied with a smaller portion. And I’ve not been tempted to snack on leftover Christmas biscuits etc.
whether that’s a bit of a placebo effect or suppression already I’m not sure. But hopefully it’s a good start.

After reading some of the horror stories on here I definitely wouldn't!

MissPobjoysPonies · 03/01/2025 17:42

So just done jab 2, starting weight in 17/12/24 (not Mounjaro but then has a super stressful week)
start: 14 st 1.8lb
27/12/24: 13 st 10.6 (-5.2lb)
3/1/24: 13 st 10.2 (-0.4lb)
not much of a loss for my first week but then I had lost quite a bit on that first stressful week which may have “distorted” it. One thing I do know is that my clothes fit better and I’m not as bloated. I am possibly a little constipated 🫣 but not uncomfortably so.

i also know I don’t usually lose weight so quickly at all but the fact that it has stayed off this week has given me hope that I can continue and lose weight going forward. Additionally I have been quite sedentary this week which will not have helped!

Good point actually, thank you! Luckily in the last few years I've had quite a lot of safe foods compared to lots of people, including stuff across most food groups, so there is choice there :)

mounjaro2025 · 03/01/2025 16:35

I am feeling quite down that I still feel like I want to eat. So many people seem to get immediate suppression within the first couple of hours.

Don't worry, I think that's actually pretty normal - the first pen is a sub-therapeutic dose so I assume that means that in trials lots of people didn't get suppression from it. Might kick in a bit on the next jab for you, fingers crossed!

Gintime74 · 03/01/2025 19:16

I have just ordered! Excited and nervous!

StrugglingSUPGirl · 03/01/2025 19:21

Hi all, just like many of you, I toyed with the idea of injections for a while before deciding to go for it. It’s reassuring to know I’m not alone!
First 2.5mg Mountjaro injected yesterday and all fine. Some slight tummy ache and injection area is sore, but nothing severe. Appetite has just disappeared and I’m having to make a conscious effort to fuel my body, which is surreal. Weight has ballooned over the last 4 years due to peri menopause, so I have 3 stone plus to lose. Not planning on calorie counting at all, just going with the flow….
