Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

I've just been to collect my pen which is exciting but I'm also so nervous!

I've read on here people are getting 5 doses from their 2.5mg pens but the chemist has only given me 4 needles? Is that what other people have found?

Morning all! I am doing my first injection tonight after I’ve eaten.

Getting nervous but also excited to make this change!

2.5mg mounjaro is my first dose

Same here. My pen arrived today and I'm injecting this evening. Nervous and I've been unwell with just a lingering cold now but keen to get going hoping side effects are non existent 🙈

First day back at work tomorrow so I'm a bit nervous about how I'll feel and what to eat
Is anyone else feeling clueless about what on earth to eat? I want to make sure I'm eating healthy and am prepared but at the same time I'm hopeful this injection will take away all this stress with food away 🙈

curlyk456 · 02/01/2025 16:25

I just jabbed my second jab (2.5) today! Have lost 6lbs in a week so far. My side effects last week were awful and it almost made my period come early but I'm mentally so much better with food, I literally tell myself to stop eating and I do lol

Yes I have no idea what to eat! I don’t know whether I just continue as I am until my body regulates the medication and hope the appetite suppression kicks in soon, or also eat healthily too.

Oh no - what happened?

curlyk456 · 02/01/2025 16:37

THE WORSR sulphur burps, never in my life have I experienced anything so gross as them. I had awful trapped wind and gas, so painful. I just felt crap and sickly now and again. This was over 2 days. I'm armed with rennies antacids and rennies deflatine just in case it happens again.

It was just a shock to the system. It passed and went much smoother after the 2/3 days

sociallydistained · 02/01/2025 16:50

I am really worried about Sulphur burps
And gastro issues as can see me getting them but I'm hoping not eating anything rich will help? I have got Rennie incase!
I'm glad it subsided for you

I'm jabbing tonight too!
Very very nervous.

I'm going to do lean in 15 dinners as they tend to be high protein and lowish carb.
On work days I'm going to stick to whole grain toast for mornings and eggs (boiled for work days- will boil night before)and I've bought some protein bars for snacks. On weekends I'm going to do granola and Skyr yoghurt.
No idea what I will do for lunches... maybe sushi meal deal with fruit instead of crisps.

Usually manage 2l water a day anyway so will maintain that.

Good luck with your first jab! My anxiety is sky high as I'm so worried about side effects being severe. Fingers crossed we are fine! 🤞

Hi everyone!

I’ve just joined mumsnet purely for this chat thread! I’m still in the stage of “should I, shouldn’t I” so I’m hoping this will help me decide once and for all. Can I ask, has anyone found a supplier that lets you stay on a lower dose if it’s working for you? I’m not sure I want to move up every 4 weeks if I don’t need to.

The potential side effects are what’s putting me off taking the leap! Are most of you doing ok so far?

Thanks!

It’s always your choice how long you stay on any dose

It is not recommended to use the remaining drug that’s left.

Its advisable for everyone to always have a spare box of needles , as sometimes when you try to prime the pen, it doesn’t work and the solution is always to change the needle. You can get a big box of them from a chemist for about £10

Therealmetherealme · 01/01/2025 08:18

Just taken my first dose. Instructions were great, thought I'd missed the '1' but got there eventually. Incredibly fine needle and painless. Easiest injection I've ever had to give myself.

I know the 2.5mg shouldn't work, but I'm hopeful. Just knowing I'm starting and being post Christmas, I've already lost a couple of pounds since Boxing Day. I'm going to try and measure myself today and set up my scales app.

1/01/25. 15 st 4.

It does for many people. Some stay on 2.5

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 02/01/2025 17:45

If anyone when they had their babies were considered a geriatric mother, and had to do the injections for a while after giving birth - is the injection a bit like that?

Grecianrainbow · 02/01/2025 17:49

Eek, done my first dose. Didn’t realise there were no wipes in the box so I’ve got some on order now. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

The Mounjaro jab is a much smaller needle than the clexane ones.

Sorry, realised I had the pre-birth injections. But it's much smaller than those!

Just done mine and found the same re wipes!
So will order some tonight and do as @BabaGanouch has suggested too and get some spare needles. Will get those at chemist as don't think I'd trust online for some weird reason.
I had a minor panic as when I first primed the len it didn't have a drop of medicine come out but on second priming it did. Phew!
Now having totally ridiculous thoughts that I feel weird at the injection site (jab itself didn't hurt at all) and my neck is feeling weird and achy. So annoying being such an anxious person 😅🤦‍♀️

Usernamesarenoteasy · 02/01/2025 18:39

I did it! Jab done. I had wipes in the box, and 6 or 7 needles so plenty of spare.
I do feel a bit sick now though.
Can't be anything to do with the jab, it's been 15 minutes 🤣
Sure it's just nerves.

emmsyg · 02/01/2025 18:42

@GorgeousLadyofWrestling i had the post birth injections, I remember getting some bruises with them. The mounjaro one was pain free for me, easy to put in gently and slowly, you don’t need to stab yourself with it. Honestly, drawing blood for the gestational diabetes blood sugar checks was far worse (and it wasn’t that bad either 😂).

Brand new to Mumsnet and joined as I found this thread. My prescription for this has just been approved and i'm now waiting for it to arrive in the post. Really hoping someone can help me with a couple of queries.

  1. i'm not telling anybody about this, but do have to go out for work lunches regularly. Will i still be able to eat at these as normal or am I going to really struggle? I just don't want it to be obvious as everyone knows how much I like my food.

  2. i like to run regularly. I fully accept this may affect my running in energy levels but does anyone have any experience with exactly how much it's affected? Any tips for still managing a good run? I'm thinking energy gels for even short runs (where i would only usually use them for long runs).

Hey, I took it on NYE post 6 mile run and ran today the same route. Times were pretty much identical and didn’t feel any different

curlyk456 · 02/01/2025 18:47

I had the post birth jabs and they hurt me and felt not very nice. This is so tiny u genuinely feel nothing. Trust me, I hate needles, I was panicking and my husband said put it next to ur skin, so I did. And then he said push it a little. And in it went and I didn't even realise. He kept saying it's done

Also 2.5mg does work for ppl, iv lost 6 lbs in one week so far. The hunger suppression did wear off by day 5/6 but I'm teaching myself to stay in the same mindset of I'm full etc and it's going great

Noddy21 · 02/01/2025 19:21

I took my first 2.5mg yesterday morning and feel absolutely fine, not as hungry, not an uncomfortable full feeling, slight headache this morning that eased with analgesia. So far so good

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 02/01/2025 19:56

Evening everyone - I’ve had my pen in the fridge for a couple of days.

Thinking of doing my first jab this evening. Those that took it at night, did you eat light beforehand or just have a ‘normal’ sized meal?

Eat light the day before too

mounjaro2025 · 02/01/2025 20:09

Evening everyone.

Well, I’ve just done it! Injected my first 2.5mg of mounjaro about 10 mins ago.

It was completely fine - nothing to worry about. Although I did have to go in twice to get the “0” fully in the box.

I’ve eaten quite a lot today, as I guess I always do, so now I am worried I am going to really suffer, but I think that’s just in my head.
