Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Ooh I’ve had the notification it’s arriving tomorrow! I’m going to wait until the 2nd and I’m also going to have to tell DH… not sure how that’ll go down!!

good luck to all those that have already started. I’m naively hoping that it’ll just help me to break the sugar and snacking habits and then I just have to never get into those habits again!! I’ve done it before but I just have no willpower to even get through a week before I give up these days.

My other half was mortified and thought I am crazy to even consider it. I started in August and so far lost just about 2Okg. Now that he knows I still eat the same stuff just less of it and I haven't got any major side effects that would affect every day life he is happy that I went for it. He even said to me recently that it is nice to see me happy again ☺️. When
he saw my recent blood tests, that show huge improvement re cholesterol, sugar levels and no more liver inflammation, he is no longer critical about it.

IwasatMandStoday · 30/12/2024 16:57

RamsayBoltonsConscience

yes, I had a really sore back for 2 days after jab1 then again after jab 2

VelvetWildflower · 30/12/2024 17:33

I've caved and ordered a Chinese for us tonight.

2 chicken balls, plain chow mein and a chicken curry for me. On my estimates, it's about 800 calories for dinner so a 1330 day.

I thought I'd order tonight rather than tomorrow for NYE because it'll be so busy but I ordered an hour and a half ago and they still haven't turned up so I think others have had the same idea!

LouScot · 30/12/2024 19:05

Littleponyperson · 30/12/2024 09:38

I just received an email saying ‘delivery tomorrow’. I am both excited and nervous.
Well done to those of you who have started already, being Scottish, I am not going to start until 2 January 😊

Ha, me too @littleponyperson (Scottish I mean!) but went for it on Saturday.

How's everyone doinh? Im feeling good, no side effects yet. Have been having a bigger evening meal and nothing much during the day, but already thinking of strategies to get through New Year's Day and the Second. Bought an enormous shortbread (its obligatory 😂)earlier and currently sitting with a coffee- normally I'd be tempted but it's sitting on the bunker without speaking to me - quite amazing!

I did eat 2 mini toffee éclairs earlier but the difference is I'd worked out calories beforehand, decided I'd have 2 to get to 1100 call for the day and then didn't want any more!

MissPobjoysPonies · 30/12/2024 19:50

So halfway through the week (first jab on Friday)

I’ve got a low lying headache at points during the day - will get some
electrolytes to deal with that.

supression - er hello, what? Just been out for a slap up lunch, managed the full portion of protein but nibbled on the other courses. I also have found I’m off alcohol - just don’t fancy it!

just had first dose of slightly gippy tummy but honestly it’s fine as no tummy ache.

i haven’t lost anything on the scales but all my clothes fit a bit better round the tummy area.

I have felt a little peculiar at times and super tired at other times but if it gets me to the goal……..

good luck, I’d say don’t bother with one last blown out, genuinely the “good noise” has gone poof and I just don’t fancy the naughty food so don’t feel like I’m missing out!

user1471600203 · 30/12/2024 19:52

I have ordered today, nervous about failing on yet another diet attempt but excited to see results, if that makes sense. I’d love to feel more confident and comfortable this summer.

FuzzyFeelingFairy · 30/12/2024 20:48

Hi ladies.
I started my MJ journey on Friday last week. I had cancelled all exercise classes until now as didn't want to be in the middle of a class and desperately need the loo! 😜
Today I went to Spin class. The instructor is full on but I love it. I felt full of beans all day, but in the class - ouchie - that was truly hard work!
Is anyone else seeing MJ change their energy levels during exercise?
Also aware that it might also be down to being a couch potato all over Christmas too 😂

Changingnameagain · 31/12/2024 06:15

My order has been approved and so I will go and collect on Thursday after 3pm. Feeling quite anxious about it all but hoping once I've done first jab I'll feel less worried. Mostly worried about side effects and any complications.
Just downloaded my fitness pal to help me track cals and also protein as that seems to be important
Ordering electrolyte tabs and protein bars online later today. Can't get over the cost of protein bars!!
Has anyone found any decent supermarket brand ones?

cloudjumper · 31/12/2024 06:42

@Changingnameagain Protein bars are so expensive, I agree! I usually go for Grenade, of all the ones I've tried, they tend to be the ones that taste best. Avoid MyProtein ones!

My carpal tunnel syndrome is really bad at the moment - I'm 99% certain that it's linked to my excess weight (last time I had it was when I was as overweight as I am now), and I do hope that losing the weight will make it go away 🤞🏻

Seaitoverthere · 31/12/2024 06:59

@Dunkou how are you feeling ?

emmsyg · 31/12/2024 08:10

Well my first pen will be arriving today!

I'm going to wait until Thursday to take it, as I’m away at a work conference next week and don't want to take it with me. I should probably wait until I’m closer to home, but it’s pretty low-key so I’m not too worried.

I don’t think I could wait another week - to quote When Harry Met Sally, which seems appropriate on New Year’s Eve, I want the rest of my life to start as soon as possible!😂

I’m obsessing with reading old threads and I really just need to see if this is going to work for me.

We have a voucher for a nice meal in Belfast to use, so off to do that for lunch, then might try to minimise how much I eat Wednesday in preparation.

Excited to get started, but definitely a bit nervous to get the first dose out of the way

Dunkou · 31/12/2024 08:23

@Seaitoverthere I'm ok, thanks! I have a slight headache but the nausea has gone.

My appetite is minuscule - I had 500 calories yesterday. I felt slightly hungry when I woke at 6am, but had 5 raspberries, half a cup of coffee and electrolyte drink and was full. I'm cooking chicken and veg later even though I don't fancy it at all.

I think I made a few mistakes with the first jab foodwise. Firstly was eating 'bad' food day before jab - pasta stuffed with cheese, cake, a ton of icecream.

I ate moderately on day of jab but drank a huge smoothie 3 hours after jab in the evening. I thought it would be fine as it was liquid but it must have been too much to sit in my stomach for hours when I went to bed. I also had a few dried apricots which I see now isn't advised.

Oh well , live and learn for next time!

Thelittlestranger · 31/12/2024 08:42

Morning all! Welcome to those who are starting soon!

@emmsyg I hear you on reading threads - I'm slightly obsessing over it all at the moment. I probably need to get back to work....

@FuzzyFeelingFairy my energy levels are ok and I've been exercising well. I'm on the third day of a cold, so probably not the best to respond.

@MissPobjoysPonies I would totally agree. I don't feel like I'm missing out on food at all. I can still enjoy it, even having less. Must remember this important lesson.

@Dunkou I've read little and often for food, perhaps try eat a little more to curb the nausea? That helped me with morning sickness for sure...

This is my 3rd day. I've been fasting until lunch each day as I haven't been hungry. Yesterday I felt slightly sick about 5pm, so had a couple of crab sticks which seemed to help. I've also found milky coffees (which I usually love) don't sit well in my stomach. Other than that, nothing else to report other than consistently making good food choices.

Seaitoverthere · 31/12/2024 09:02

@Dunkou Really pleased you are feeling better. Hopefully next time will be significantly easier. That’s a huge amount of suppression you are having .

I am not noticing a big effect. I think there is a small one as I have left a small amount of food twice but it is subtle generally I feel much as I was when doing it unmediated at the times I was in the swing of things and able to fast in the morning. However after being at this since Nov 23 I had been struggling since mid Nov this year and Mounjaro has got me back on track I feel.

Calories eaten since Friday are 1484, 1401, 1846 and 1773. Calorie deficit fo those days is 3150 total so approaching a pound loss which is what the scales said this morning. I weigh officially on Friday. I find with the exception of when my meds dose changes (gain or stall for 4 to 8 weeks) over time my loss does equate to 3.5k cal deficit equals a pound loss but it is not linear. It is actually about 10% more so I think my Fitbit estimates a little under on calorie burn though this is a new one so I don’t know yet how it measures up.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/12/2024 09:08

@emmsyg I totally get this. I have to wait until I think the 10th as I have to return a blood test and now I've made the decision I just want to start now. I've spent far too much time scouring threads/reading about side effects/googling losses!!

How did the curry go down? I'm too scared to have anything spicy.

Dunkou · 31/12/2024 09:41

@Seaitoverthere well done on the calorie deficit, that's about what I'll be aiming for as well in terms of deficit.

This was exactly how I was feeling about taking MJ. If it doesn't work then there's no hope for me! Only day 4 for me but I really don't want to reach for the biscuits etc that would normally be calling my name.

Grecianrainbow · 31/12/2024 10:09

I’m due to get mine Thursday too. Can’t decide if I should take it straight away or wait until next week as I’m working over the weekend. How bad have side affects been in days 1-3?

MjMadness · 31/12/2024 10:24

I've just injected!!! I'm so excited! Injection didn't hurt at all and now I'm just waiting to see what happens!! Hopefully it will kick in soon and the weight loss will start!!!

Cannot believe this is finally happening and I may actually lose weight!! Yeeey!!!

Must say, did feel a bit weird receivng the pen this morning! Like some kind of drug dealer!!!

Cuppaandcakes20 · 31/12/2024 10:24

I took my first on Saturday. I'm happy with how I feel- I feel fullish, I can still eat with the family but much less than normal. It's also easier to ignore the crisps and other snacking food in the cupboard. This is normally unheard off!

MjMadness · 31/12/2024 10:26

Wow, that's great for day 4!!

I feel the same about worrying this won't work. But I think it will. I can't wait for it to kick in and for me to actually forget about food or leave some on my plate!!! like the skinny people I know (my husband can happily eat one square of chocolate and leave the rest for weeks/months in the cupboard (obviously it's gone as soon as I find it!!!) and I can't wait to experience the same thing!! 🤞🤞🤞)

Kay2000 · 31/12/2024 10:38

Anyone else waiting to hear from Asda? I ordered on 26/12, haven’t heard a thing. I expected them to be back at work by Friday or Monday and understand they’re probably dealing with a backlog but an acknowledgment of my order would be good to stop me worrying.

Ikeepforgettingmyusername · 31/12/2024 10:45

I had my first jab yesterday and am hoping to reduce down 3 dress sizes so I will be a size 12.
I am telling family and friends as I am now past the age of caring what anyone thinks.
It's nice to know I am doing this with others to see how we all get on.

I ordered Sunday and had a message today from ASDA. Did you do the photos?
