Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

I’m going to tell a few select friends who I know are thinking of trying MJ too. But if it works and I lose weight no one is going to believe I did it by dieting alone but by then I probably won’t care about telling people. I’m not telling my sister. I don’t see her often and last June she posted a pic of herself clearly slimmer and it turned out she’d been doing SW since January and had lost 3 stone. It had to be deliberate not to mention it to me, as there’s always been rivalry between us. I was upset she’d found something that had worked for her but didn’t say a word. If it had been me I’d have said hey this new SW is working for me, why don’t you try. So yes, ok, I confess there’s a bit of me thinking if I can lose enough weight by summer I’ll get my own back 😂

I took my first jab 2.5 yesterday afternoon.

Oof, I got all the side-effects last night - cold, tired, up twice for a poop (not diarrhoea), vomited, heart beating fast was awake 1am - 5am.

Ate a couple of spoonfuls of oats at 5am, slept an hour, and had an electrolyte tablet and feel 90% better, though still nauseous. Can't imagine I'll eat much today.

I'm going to have 1.25 as my next dose, I don't want to go through that again. I'm on the smaller side for MJ - I've got a BMI of 27 and I'm short. I also have a slow-ish thyroid. Adding those caveats as don't want any new starters to be put off! I've been trawling the other threads and the reaction I got seems uncommon at 2.5, more likely at 5.

That sounds awful. Have they recommended a smaller dose? I've read a lot about people micro dosing but I don't understand how people do it, without wasting a pen. I may wait till the kids are back at school for my first dose then!

Oh no! This is what I dread as I hate vomiting. If I get these side effects I’m not sure what I’ll do. Are they supposed to get easier as your body adjusts? I hope you feel better today. Is there any research that’s suggested the less you have to lose, the more likely side effects are?

Dunkou · 30/12/2024 09:48

@Therealmetherealme I haven't asked them, I'll just do it. I will be wasting some of the pen but I don't really care about that. Even if I manage a few weeks of slight appetite suppression and weight loss it will be worth it for me, as I think it will jumpstart me into keeping on track myself without MJ.

Dunkou · 30/12/2024 09:52

@Kay2000 I looked for the research on that but couldn't see any.

It might just be me - I get awful hangovers as well (gave up decades ago) with similar gastritis type vomiting, so might just be prone to it, even though this is for a different reason.

Just had some toast and feel ok, and will go back to bed for a bit so fingers crossed worst is over. It might also be what I ate last night - I had a smoothie with kefir, avocado, flax and cherries. Maybe the dairy in kefir didn't mix well with MJ, I've seen some people say they have stomach issues after having cheese with it.

So please don't anyone be put off! Just felt it was important to put not just positive updates up.

PrimalLass · 30/12/2024 10:24

I'm jumping in too - well have already really as I've taken two doses. I was on Wegoy last year, which quietly worked in the background, but I stopped taking it and could never quite get back on the horse.

Ordered first one through Juniper but didn't realise they sent scales I don't need (and which give the different weights if I get on and off) and try to justify being far more expensive than anyone else. I'll try and move suppliers.

PrimalLass · 30/12/2024 10:26

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/12/2024 10:37

Is it just that we are going to be literally eating less on this as it takes away the hunger? Or is it other magic?

For me - on Wegovy - it was other magic as I didn't eat loads in the first place. I've always had blood sugar issues and it really helped make it possible for my body to deal with insulin and lose weight.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/12/2024 10:38

Gosh @Dunkou that sounds hideous. I think that pretty much all the things I'm fearing 😬. I hope it eases for you.

I'm living in hope of sleeping more like a pp!!!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/12/2024 11:55

I had an email from a medexpress this morning to say there are currently delays due to high demand so I still haven’t been approved. Still hoping I might receive it before I go back to work next week 🤞

cloudjumper · 30/12/2024 12:04

My MedExpress account has now updated to say the pen is arriving tomorrow, so I might be able to start on the 1st after all. Really want to get going asap, so that I can get any nasty side effects out of the way before DH buggers off to his ski trip on Saturday Grin Probably should tell him about this at some point! Don't know why I'm so apprehensive about telling other people - I don't think taking Mounjaro is cheating, but somehow I'm worried others will...

IWantToGetOffHelp · 30/12/2024 12:08

Looking to finally jump on the horse as I have a massive amount of weight to lose and have just found out that my blood pressure is on the brink of being high. Can anyone recommend where I should get it from please or if there are any discount codes?

cloudjumper · 30/12/2024 12:10

@IWantToGetOffHelp I used this website to find a supplier: monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

VelvetWildflower · 30/12/2024 12:26

Mounjaro is like magic for me. Went to Tesco and wasn't tempted at all by anything crap. Bought the weekly shop and left with a 160 cal iced coffee.

It's been around 26 hours for me and suppression is high. I remember it being like this last time too. 2.5mg seems to work right out of the gate for me so touch wood it does the same for me this time and suppression stays high. I remember hunger and cravings creeping up around day 5 so I'm keeping a log.

Around 30 hours for me, and suppression also good. I could still eat, but am very happy not to. That's the difference. It's not a magical cure, you still need to think about the foods you choose to eat, but right now it is definitely making it so much easier.

I'm interested to know what others are eating?

Today I plan to have:

Lunch - Tuna mayo and salad on 1 x sourdough
Dinner - Roast chicken salad
Milk for tea/coffee

Have some cals left over for later in case I want something...

@Dunkou hope it eases. And agree, this thread shouldn't just be for the good. Hoping we can support through all of it.

Changingnameagain · 30/12/2024 13:22

Hi everyone- I've bitten the bullet and ordered MJ via Asda . Have sent my pics and just waiting approval which I'm hoping won't take too long as I'd love to do my first dose on Thursday and make Thursday my jab day.
I weighed myself for the first time in 2 years today and I am the heaviest I have ever been- ashamed to even write it tbh but here we are:
SW: 20st 5lb- 5ft 10- BMI 40.5
GW: 12st
I have a lot to lose and am praying this works for me. Have 2 young children and I want to be around for them into my old age.
I've recently had an AuDHD diagnosis and think my over eating is often anxiety related or dopamine seeking. I regularly feel overwhelmed my work/life/parenting and expect my cortisol levels are constantly high. I'm nervous about the side effects as I'm a teacher so can't just dash to a toilet if needed hence why I'm keen to start Thursday before school goes back on Monday next week.

Joining this group to keep accountability

Wishing everyone the best with their weight loss journeys

On second full day here - yesterday I was out for lunch and had an omelette with mushrooms but could only eat half.

For dinner we went to my mum's and had a roast dinner at 5pm - had lots of veg and fewer potatoes/yorkshire puddings than usual. Had a small portion of pudding but then nothing in the evening, where I might normally have wanted a slice of toast/crisps around 8pm, nothing.

Today, so far I've had around 400kcal from a potato and chorizo salad and planning on chicken & veg for dinner tonight. Have got some fruit and healthy nibbles in, in case I want something but so far haven't been tempted by snacking between meals.

Might have a small portion of Huel/similar later if daily calorie count seems too low as I'm slightly worried about eating too little as I just don't have an appetite.

RosaBaby2 · 30/12/2024 13:38

@Changingnameagain don't be ashamed.

I'm starting at 18st13 but am only 5ft 3 so BMI 46.7

Today's food:

30g porridge, with 50ml milk and water, chai seeds and pumpkin seeds and a tiny drizzle of honey

1 slice warburtons Protein bread with 3 chicken mini fillets, cucumber and a Babybel

1 water, 2 cups of tea.

Planning to have later

Mediterranean pork loin steak with broccoli

Nature valley cereal bar

Yesterday I had to push myself to eat past 600cals but I got to 1000 in the end.

Holgen · 30/12/2024 13:43

Hello, I’ve name changed because I am extremely embarrassed about my occupation and my weight. But I finally have decided to do something about it. I’ve just been approved for MJ with Numan. I think it will arrive on Thursday. The pictures I took to get the pen shocked me. I didn’t really realise how big I had gotten as I have trained myself to suck in my stomach at all times.

i would like to lose 10kg to start with; if I can tolerate it, I may go with more. I’m actually hoping to use MJ as a reset button, so I see how much food I actually need to eat, so I can embed the right eating habits in my brain and then stop and maintain my weight again.

I’m hoping losing weight will help me to finally fully recover from an injury that stops me running properly.

I have only told my DH and my sister so far. I don’t intend on telling anyone else. I have a wedding in June with a dress which is too small for me currently; if I fit into that then that’s my first goal achieved!

looking forward to chatting supporting etc

serendipities · 30/12/2024 13:54

Mine is arriving tomorrow and I’m SO excited to get started now. I’m probably going to use it straight away. I’m going away with family for the weekend and I’m not sure if it’s sensible to do it before a trip, but I just don’t want to wait any longer 🫣

Seaitoverthere · 30/12/2024 14:27

@Dunkou , so sorry to hear you are struggling, really hope it passes quickly. I think the reality is a number of us will encounter some issues along the way and hopefully we can all support each other.

Welcome to all newcomers!

Just back from a 4.5k walk with food in the middle. Had smashed avocado brunch which was avocado, poached egg, feta and onion in an flatbread and helpfully had the calories on the menu. I hadn’t eaten before hand so today has gone well so far. I think we are doing toasted marshmallows and melted chocolate later so will have just one probably as not sure they sound very appealing currently! Think it will be Asian turkey mince and noodles for dinner.

Seaitoverthere · 30/12/2024 14:31

@Changingnameagain my bmi was something like 42.4 at the end of 2023. It is lower now as have lost some during the last year. It’s onwards and downwards from here for us all !

When did you order? I ordered mine Friday and sent the photos in on Saturday. Mines coming tomorrow.

Overthemoun · 30/12/2024 16:24

Ooh I’ve had the notification it’s arriving tomorrow! I’m going to wait until the 2nd and I’m also going to have to tell DH… not sure how that’ll go down!!

good luck to all those that have already started. I’m naively hoping that it’ll just help me to break the sugar and snacking habits and then I just have to never get into those habits again!! I’ve done it before but I just have no willpower to even get through a week before I give up these days.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 30/12/2024 16:29

So I have noticed something today, I ache all over. Not really bad but feel a bit tender everywhere. Have looked it up and can't see it as a side effect but definitively didn't feel like this yesterday. Has anyone else had this?
