@infosec well done on your progress. You have had some pretty big drops along your timeline. Is there anything you did differently on those weeks?

Edited

It usually coincides with the week of my period. I find the week before the most difficult, I'm hungrier and moodier and weight loss feels like I have to work harder for it. Then as soon as my period actually starts, the scales drop.

ginnybag · 20/01/2025 16:24

About 1/2 way through week 19 here, but thought I'd share with people who'll get it...

After stalling a bit over Christmas, and then again last week, I gambled a sneaky weigh this morning and I've lost 50 lbs.

50!

I'm really short, so I still have at least another 30 (and more likely 40+) to go, but still!

In a bonus NSV, I have a beautiful 'favourite' dress I bought years ago that I wanted to wear again 'now that it'll fit' but I tried it on at new year and it was huge! Cue a bit of a panic, because I have a black tie awards evening in mid-Feb and now no dress...

Then, last week, I got incredibly lucky and found it on Ebay - but in a 14. T'was only a tenner so thought, stuff it, no chance for this one, but maybe for the next one in May...

Well, it came today and it fits!

It's possibly a tiny bit tight, but I was wearing boring, comfy underwear (which I definitely won't be!) and the event I need it for is 3 1/2 weeks away, so there's time to drop a little more.

I'm seriously in disbelief that I might be attending in Feb close to 4 stone lighter and in a 14, though. If you'd asked me in August, I never would have believed that!

SpottyBumPony · 20/01/2025 16:50

@ginnybag what a wonderful surprise!

sylv165 · 20/01/2025 17:07

50lbs @ginnybag!! What a milestone, congrats!

MandarinDentistTiger · 20/01/2025 17:26

Congratulations on your 50lb @ginnybag

Thanks for sharing @InfoSecInTheCity I'm menopausal. After years of really challenging periods, it's all a bit of a mystery.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 20/01/2025 18:03

I'm another one who always struggles (energy, mood, tiredness, water retention) in the week or so before a period, and then has a woosh of weight loss once it happens. I'm a daily weigher and it's made me so much more aware of fluctuations!

85.4kg today - which marks my first dip below 35BMI (hooray, obese category 1!) and a 2 stone loss!!

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/01/2025 18:07

Just saw this article on BBC about a new study showing a range of health benefits of WL

"The study used data on US veterans with type 2 diabetes, some of whom were given Ozempic or Wegovy and some more standard drugs - to measure their effect on 175 other illnesses.

There appeared to be a significant boon to heart health, with lower levels of heart attacks, stroke, heart failure and high blood pressure, in those taking the new weight-loss drugs.

They also cut the risk of substance abuse (including alcohol, opioids and cannabis) as well as reducing schizophrenia, suicidal thoughts and seizures.

Despite the study being short, and people taking the drugs for only 3.5 years because of how new they are, it reported a 12% reduction in Alzheimer's disease.

There was also less liver cancer, muscle pain and chronic kidney disease as well as a noted reduction in bacterial infections and fever.

On the flip side, people were more likely to have problems in their digestive system. Feeling sick, tummy pain, inflammation in the stomach, diverticulitis (bulges in the intestines that can be painful) and haemorrhoids were more common on Ozempic or Wegovy."

MandarinDentistTiger · 20/01/2025 21:48

I have had a massive reduction in general inflammation. Rosacea is now nonexistent.

mimosa1 · 21/01/2025 08:06

@MandarinDentistTiger I have lipidema (properly diagnosed) and while it's hard to tell what is pure weight loss and exercise, I do feel that I'm getting less leg swelling/inflammation.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/01/2025 08:18

172.8 lbs this morning, I'd like to be at or under 170 by end of month, that would then mean I'd only have to lose 4 lb in Feb to meet my goal of being healthy BMI by end of February which feels achievable. It would also mean I'd have gone from Obese to Healthy in 6 months.

sylv165 · 21/01/2025 08:56

Weighed a day early this week because I’m going away for work for the next couple of days. After 3 weeks STS I have finally lost 2lbs 🎉.

I have, however, woken up absolutely starving this morning, after jabbing yesterday morning. Very unusual for me, but my period has just started so most likely related to that. Just trying to resist eating all the food!

SpottyBumPony · 21/01/2025 11:29

Week 21,

Despite changing my injection site I still had an itchy reaction, I really must pick up some anti-histamine cream.

Drum roll please ... I've hit a 4 stone loss! I've never manages that on a diet before.

I just went to take the fourth dose of my 10mg pen and the pen didn't work. It felt jammed. I know from here that some of you have found it harder to get the bonus dose lately, but I don’t use that, I just squirt a little of the fluid every week to check the flow etc before injecting. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel really pissed off as I've had to move onto a new pen a week early, and it's not cost-effective, especially as I'm with Voy. If it has happened to you, did you complain and did they offer a new pen/money off? It's the first time this has happened.

UPDATE: Voy has refunded me a quarter of the pen's cost which is definitely better than nothing!

sylv165 · 21/01/2025 13:13

Well done @SpottyBumPony! There are some incredible losses on this thread now!!

20bloodypounds · 21/01/2025 13:26

Thanks for that link @InfoSecInTheCity I'm sure there will more positive news as more people take it.

@ginnybag @SpottyBumPony great progress!

ginnybag · 21/01/2025 13:51

@spottybumpony that's incredible!!

Well done!!

LittleBitAlexa · 21/01/2025 14:45

Has anyone noticed they are getting fewer colds? I usually get every bug going but I haven't had a single illness since starting MJ in September. Maybe it's coincidence. A couple of times I thought I was coming down with something but it never appeared.

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/01/2025 17:53

I haven't had any illness since September either, I did have the covid and flu vaccines though.

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/01/2025 17:54

friendlymummy · 21/01/2025 12:27

UPDATE: Voy has refunded me a quarter of the pen's cost which is definitely better than nothing!

You could still use the pen as well with an insulin needle

MandarinDentistTiger · 21/01/2025 18:15

Well done @SpottyBumPony

I'm a week behind you. My total weight loss is -2.0 st 11.5 lbs or total loss 17.20 %. Amazing really, albeit slower than I would like.

I am feeling ill again. It's definitely MJ reaction, my stomach has been very upset today. So strange that first jab at 7.5mg was fine. Next two have been awful. This week has been a little better. I've not been able to eat yet today.

SpiderMother · 21/01/2025 22:06

Can I share a scale victory?

As of today I have lost 3 stone. Which because I’m short is 24% of my body weight. It’s a good point to pause and appreciate what I’ve been able to achieve with MJ..Gone from obese to healthy BMI, feel healthier, replaced my favourite jeans in a 14 which were too tight with the same jeans in a size 8. Lost 8 inches off my waist. Reduced body fat by 10%.

I am so thankful I was in a position to afford this. It has been life changing. I’m almost at the end of this journey, another 7 pounds to go. Then the start of the maintenance journey. Which is scary but feels feasible for the first time ever.

Thank you to everyone on this thread for the support and for sharing the journey.

SpiderMother · 21/01/2025 22:07

@SpottyBumPony amazing! 4 stone is incredible.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/01/2025 22:17

@SpottyBumPony and @SpiderMother well done to you both! Wonder Women!

Cantbesure · 21/01/2025 22:38

@friendlymummy coming in from the December board. I had this today with a new pen. But it was an issue with the needle. I tried a new needle and it worked fine. Don't know if this is any help to you.
