@Mysticmaiden2024 oh no that's a shame. The active is usually tretinion for acne and you might have needed to buffer it with a moisturiser underneath. My daughter is using it atm and it's doing wonders for her acne. My prescription is fantastic for my rosacea.

I was on it for around 6 months and yes always used moisturiser first. I am older so maybe it works better for teens/younger skin? Not hormonal acne like mine

I've been having Botox since I was 37-now 45. Tiny amount, more of a preventative than anything else. It's actually worked so well as I don't have many lines at all-but I don't have so much that my face is stuck or that anyone notices really except to say I look well when I've had it after the prior lot has worn off a touch. I'd draw the line at filler I think as I've seen so much of it done badly, but I'm happy with my baby Botox :)

Which areas do you focus it on? I’ve started with some lines of my forehead which are the obvious target, but my main concern is wrinkles around my eyes, but not sure Botox is suitable for that.

Oceangreyscale · 28/12/2024 10:46

Last 5mg done, that seemed to go quickly.
Still no side effects apart from red and itchy injection sites which is annoying, but not the worst.

Lost 10lb over 7 weeks which isn't fast but I'm fine with that, particularly considering I haven't been calorie counting and have been eating quite a bit of christmassy stuff.

Still seems to be quite a bit in the pen, any reason my husband couldn't use that later today? He is also prescribed and planning to go up to 5mg now.

@Goldleafcat @WoodsWanderer my prescription from dermatica had ivermectin which is the active ingredient in soolantra. It did wonders for my red spotty nose. Im just on azaelic acid and niacinamide now it's a lot clearer. I might treat myself to Botox at the end of my MJ if I can afford it.

Thanks for sharing this - I’ve had rosacea for years and used lots of different creams and lotions aimed at reducing redness but nothing really made much difference. Just ordered Soolantra from an online pharmacy and they’ve already approved it! Hoping this will finally make a difference.

Other than my redness, my skin is quite good - the girl that does my nails and occasional facial always comments on how few lines I have considering my age!

Just before Xmas I was teaching one of my classes (resit gcse students) and one of the girls asked how old my kids were (we were taking présents) and I said my eldest was 20. She commented I must have had him really young - I said ‘not really, I was 28’. You could see her doing the maths in her head and she gasped really loudly and exclaimed ‘no way!’ - she’s now my favourite student as she thought I was only in my late 30’s 😂 - then another student piped up that my hair was confusing. I ditched the hair dye in Feb 2022 and as I started going grey in my late teens, I have very silvery, salt and pepper hair!

piscofrisco · 28/12/2024 11:17

@Goldleafcat I have it in my forehead, my 11's at the top of the nose (didn't really have any lines there but my dentist said they have to do that to do the forehead successfully), and at the side of my eyes which are the lines I was most worried about. It's worked pretty well near my eyes though not as successfully as the other areas just because I suppose that area is more mobile and I've got quite big hamster ish cheeks which tend to form the lines when I smile 😊.
The rule I think is anything above or level with eyes is Botox, anything below is filler. I probs need tear trough filler really, but I've read that's it's hard to get right and impossible to fix when it goes awry so I daren't!

I just jabbed and there was liquid on my skin after I took the needle out. This hasn’t happened before. Does it mean some didn’t go in?

Normal. I always have a little drop on my skin after jabbing.

MsRumpole · 28/12/2024 11:27

I think I have probably put a bit of weight back on at least, but not nearly as much as I would have done over Christmas previously. I think I am going to go up to 5mg after this pen (but also want to see if a bit more thought about my diet helps).

Pumpkinforever · 28/12/2024 11:42

Sneaky hop on the scales this morning. Didn’t put on any weight over Christmas festivities. That is a first for me and is my second Christmas miracle. (The first Christmas miracle was finally being under 14 stone in Tuesday)

off for a walk now

PandasMum · 28/12/2024 11:44

I saw a tv programme with surveys etc and it found Botox makes most people look older because the flat shiny effect makes the brain of someone do a double take. However, despite that I decided to give it a go. I found it remarkable and couldn’t stop looking at myself! I do look a teeny bit odd in hindsight looking at photos despite loving it at the time…. but it’s been 3 years since I gave it a try and to this day my lines remain less pronounced than pre Botox 3 years ago!!!

JasonTindallsTan · 28/12/2024 12:45

After several frustrating weeks of back and forth with the same two to three pounds going in and coming off again, it seems to be falling off at the minute. Only thing I am doing differently is less moving 🤦🏼‍♀️ due to the festivities I haven’t been to the gym in a week and I haven’t hit my 10000 steps for days now. Bizarre.

Ralala · 28/12/2024 12:58

Hello all! Sorry I have been awol! Xmas is full on with little people. I have just ordered my 3rd pen. I’m sticking at 5mg as I’m actually only injecting 3:75 anyway as 5 makes me violently unwell. I have 5kg to go to target weight ….. I can do this!!!

murraymcgill · 28/12/2024 13:20

Been ill no energy for 4 days is this normal I'm in my 2nd month of 5mg 1st jab I've lost 2stone exactly

murraymcgill · 28/12/2024 13:22

@TeenLifeMum hi I'm on 5mg I've just started my 2nd 5mg pen I was too scared to move up to 7.5 but I hardly have any suppression on 5mg think I've wasted money

PinkArt · 28/12/2024 13:49

Weighing in a day late because of Christmas:
W8D1
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:18st 7lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
TL: 1st 2lb

Not sure if I'm counting it as a hold or a gain. It's a the same as this time last week but my pre-Christmas mid week weight in was two pounds lighter. Either way, not bad going. I didn't feel I ate massive amounts, and definitely less than a normal Christmas, but more than I have been to date since starting Mounjaro. There was lebkuchen and wine!

Did my first 5mg last night when I got home and that should nudge me back into some more virtuous eating again. Aiming to be back down to 18st 5lbs for my birthday on Friday.

I think I’m going to order some too!

By the end of all of this we will be transformed! 😂

Afternoon all. Just checking back in after Christmas. I ate very carefully throughout as that’s all I honestly fancied. My weight loss has nevertheless completely stalled but I haven’t gained any back so I’m pleased overall. No complaints. As I would usually gain third of a stone over normal Christmas. I think the stalling currently is I’ve completely lost my motivation with the 10 000 steps per day due to being off work. So the losses have stalled as a result. I’ve stuck at 5mg for a second month in a row. Hoping to see some mini losses again once I manage to get moving again after this lazy Christmas slump.

Dreamqueen · 28/12/2024 15:39

Also checking in after christmas. We all seem to be suffering from the RSV virus, headaches, cough, wheezing and general fatigue. When I was a chid my Nan used to give us all types of treats when we were ill to encourage us to eat and that's my go to when I'm under the weather. I"m dabbling in a tin of belgian biscuits and various puddings.
Been good with food and drink on the whole over Christmas. I've just reordered a 5 pen from Curely. Not going up to 7.5 as supression is ok on 5. It's much stronger at the begining of the week but as it wears off, I feel in control rather than been too nauseous to eat.

Well done everyone of restrained eating over christmas. looking forward to cracking on in January from a good point rather than being 5lbs heavier than the week before Christmas.

PandasMum · 28/12/2024 16:08

Day 3 of 7.5 & thought I’d share as I know lots of you are still on the 5. It’s definitely felt like a change as by the end of the 5 I wasn’t finding it was having much suppression & losses were 1lb a week. I’m on day 3 and so far I’ve had 1 day of burping / farting & very mild nausea (nothing too major) & then no symptoms since. I’m able to eat normally but am definitely not craving, snacking or over eating. I did have a piece of chocolate & immediately rushed to the toilet so I do need to be more careful about food types but it’s been otherwise fine. Let’s hope the losses follow!

I should add I’m 19 stone 7 & very obese - so I would guess that also makes a difference to whether the dose is smaller / higher in comparison to you.

I’ve been struggling with this mentality myself but am trying to view plateaus as a huge success - maintaining the loss we’ve already achieved is in itself brilliant at any time of year let alone Christmas

BagQueenBee · 28/12/2024 17:35

Also checking in…..did my first 5mg yesterday (prev 5 doses 2.5).
weighed in and lost 1lb, so happy with that considering Christmas week.

Not massively indulged but have eaten things I wouldn’t now eat, but remained in calorie deficit.

Today feel a bit yuk. sickly, headache, rumble tummy and burpy, no appetite but just ate 2 small slices buttered whole meal toast….am trying to keep drinking water.

Thanks for the update, really useful to know. My plan is to start mine next Thursday.

Out for dinner tonight at a lovely local Sicilian restaurant. I had what seemed to be a mountain of grilled lamb chops and grilled vegetables which was absolutely delicious. Tum ok so far….

edit - also had chickpea fritters and wine. Eek. Avoided pasta and creamy stuff at least, so fingers crossed no tummy drama. I still really enjoy food on MJ.

Whattodowithaminute · 28/12/2024 21:15

Was so so sick in the night… like the worst reflux I’ve had in years, chicken Kiev to blame after Thursday injection. I always feel at my worst on Fridays. Looking forward to being home (family for Xmas period) and regular food with lots of veg…

murraymcgill · 28/12/2024 21:41

Weigh in tomorrow last jab of 5mg was on Friday I have another 5 pen here but ordered an 7.5 as I don't feel as if the 5mg is as good

Happy Christmas to you all!

We're back from DSiL's (who has never knowingly under-catered), and my only mishap was Christmas dinner when I made the mistake of drinking 2 glasses of fizz and eating the whole (very nice) bites-of-fishy things starter which meant I could only manage around 3 bites of the actual main. It was a bit conspicuous - my DSiL plates up, so I sent rather a lot back, and felt a bit embarrassed.

Interestingly it showed how little DH has noticed the impact on my eating over the past couple of months, though he knows I'm taking the jabs and losing weight quite quickly as a result. He was taken aback by how little I managed of Christmas dinner (and had been one of the people happily adding "just a couple more" potatoes to my plate). Clearly my ever-decreasing portion sizes have been passing him by.

Christmas eating overall is pretty much as I'd hoped, really. I have a very strong "stop" point, and I usually can't eat all of something if it's greasy, sweet or rich, but nothing has actually been off limits. I am REALLY appreciating the crudités right now though, which isn't usually my Christmas highlight but there you are! 😂

I went for a boozy lunch last weekend and our friends did notice I hadn’t eaten as much as usual so in did tell them about MJ and they were very supportive 🥰

I hear you on the crudités tho 😂
