Crikey! How are you feeling now?

It’s gone now and I feel fine - just a bit freaked out! Don’t know whether it was anything to worry about or not.

Gettingbysomehow · 27/12/2024 20:43

I attempted to overeat at xmas. I dismally failed to eat anything. One mince pie on xmas eve made me so nauseous that was it for 2 days.
Lucky I am teetotal or that would have finished me off....meh.

Goldleafcat · 27/12/2024 20:46

@Cantbesure @WeakAsIAm thanks both for the recommendations for skincare. Definitely going to look into it. The spots have been infuriating over the years - itchy, sore, an annoying combo of both sometimes dry and spotty skin! Antibiotics work well. One positive side to my skin is that I often am complemented that I look younger than I am, which is something. Now to crack the weight!!

I’ve just had a look at Boots online for the pixiglow products - is it the clay cleanser and the glow tonic?

My skin has been plagued with recurring acne since I was a teenager. I used to use oxytetracycline a couple of times a year which worked wonderfully but the GP is less keen to prescribe now. I had been using Duac (Benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin)
but my skin no longer gets on with it (it’s like it burns my skin, goes red and puffy, then peels!). Trying to find a less invasive solution. You’d think I’d have grown out of it by now…

Glycolic acid toner works well, I think it's in pixiglow. Also azelaic acid work wonderful on me, I've also had acne and scarring on my face and body since 16! Seen a dermatologist and they said it was hormonal, put me on the pill and differin - still happened.

@Goldleafcat if your acne js causing you concern then a subscription to skin & me or dermatica ia a good idea. I've used them both to help with my rosacea. I can send you a discount code for either if you want to DM me.

Tried them both for my 25+ years of acne, just made it worse and dried skin out

Cantbesure · 28/12/2024 08:14

@Mysticmaiden2024 oh no that's a shame. The active is usually tretinion for acne and you might have needed to buffer it with a moisturiser underneath. My daughter is using it atm and it's doing wonders for her acne. My prescription is fantastic for my rosacea.

WoodsWanderer · 28/12/2024 08:47

The only thing that ever worked for rosacea for me was soolantra, it's miracle stuff. I'm currently on 12 weeks of lymecycline because testosterone gave me teenage boy acne. Peri- the gift that keeps on giving. I'm treating myself to some botox next week, calling it self care 😂

Happy Christmas to you all!

We're back from DSiL's (who has never knowingly under-catered), and my only mishap was Christmas dinner when I made the mistake of drinking 2 glasses of fizz and eating the whole (very nice) bites-of-fishy things starter which meant I could only manage around 3 bites of the actual main. It was a bit conspicuous - my DSiL plates up, so I sent rather a lot back, and felt a bit embarrassed.

Interestingly it showed how little DH has noticed the impact on my eating over the past couple of months, though he knows I'm taking the jabs and losing weight quite quickly as a result. He was taken aback by how little I managed of Christmas dinner (and had been one of the people happily adding "just a couple more" potatoes to my plate). Clearly my ever-decreasing portion sizes have been passing him by.

Christmas eating overall is pretty much as I'd hoped, really. I have a very strong "stop" point, and I usually can't eat all of something if it's greasy, sweet or rich, but nothing has actually been off limits. I am REALLY appreciating the crudités right now though, which isn't usually my Christmas highlight but there you are! 😂

Goldleafcat · 28/12/2024 08:58

@Cantbesure @WoodsWanderer I have rosacea too! Have been plastering on foundation since I was 16 to try to cover it up.

Am starting to consider Botox as well. I’m an ‘older’ mum to a 2 year old (I’m 44) and worry I look very much out of place at times! Not had the dreaded ‘Are you his grandmother?’ comment as yet but I’m sure it’s a matter of time 😂

piscofrisco · 28/12/2024 08:59

Back to jabbing today for me after three days 'off' (I should have jabbed on Wednesday). I've eaten a lot over the three days and drank a fair bit on Christmas day. But I haven't gained, which is both weird and lucky!). I might go back to 2.5 for a week after going up to 3.75 last jab just as it's late and I don't want to shock my system too much. Plus the 2.5 was working perfectly well for the most part.

Cantbesure · 28/12/2024 09:02

@Goldleafcat @WoodsWanderer my prescription from dermatica had ivermectin which is the active ingredient in soolantra. It did wonders for my red spotty nose. Im just on azaelic acid and niacinamide now it's a lot clearer. I might treat myself to Botox at the end of my MJ if I can afford it.

I'm 43, 44 in April. DH tried to brush an eyelash off my face the other week. It wasn't an eyelash friends but a wrinkle, never thought it'd bother me but here we are. I have Christmas money from my gran and brother so I'm skipping off for some botox 😊

I actually did have that precise experience earlier this month. At nearly 49 I am edging into the "could be a young grandmother" territory agewise, but it's mainly that I was toying with growing my hair out and hadn't realised that since I started covering grey 15 years ago it's almost completely white underneath. My kid is 7 so I am nowhere near actual grandparentdom!

I have always been very into exercise despite being very overweight, but I think that experience has actually kick-started a real sea-change in my sense of personal care. The change in my skin is really striking. I'm not saying I look 20 and I wouldn't actually want to at 48, but I have clear soft skin (was prone to dermatitis) for the first time in ages after only a week or so of paying proper attention to it. I am honestly a bit furious with myself for not having made more of an effort sooner!

MsRumpole · 28/12/2024 09:06

PS I have also shelved growing my hair out for another decade. I don't want to completely cover the grey as it's hard to maintain but I have a mix of highlights and lowlights so that it looks like I am just starting to grey.

I did the same last time I went to the hairdressers. I was too blonde so I has some dark put through it to blend my regrowth which has gone a bit silvery. I think paying out for Mounjaro as an investment has made me re-evaluate self care for definite.

My mum was 41 when I had my first kid - she got taken for his mum more than once 🤣

Let us know how you get on! I’ve heard so many people use it. I had a recent experience when a lady at the hairdresser who was only mid - late 20s told me she uses it. I certainly don’t think she needs it. But I probably do 😬😅

MsRumpole · 28/12/2024 09:11

It's a bit like a midlife awakening for me - not exactly a crisis but just a sudden realisation that time is limited and I want to be my best physical self in what I have left, I guess.

Urgh it’s so annoying when that happens, and rather cheeky too. My husband has been called a grandfather a few times now.

That’s brilliant about your skincare overhaul though, especially to get great results so quickly. I’ve been using (a slightly random assortment of) moisturisers for years and SPF in foundation but I’ve not had success in tackling acne etc and my cleansing routine is a quick rub over with a facewipe which is absolutely rubbish. Took the time with an actual toner last night (which didn’t even take that long) and felt a lot better.

And you deserve it.

Jab day and the scales were less kind. Showing a 0.8lb gain from last week. Not a surprise considering how much extra I’ve been eating and drinking this past week. Back to calorie counting this week.

I think I’ll take the full 5mg today after taking 3.75mg last week.

Dose 6 today
Weight 11st 12.9lb
BMI 29.6
Gain this week 0.8lb
Total loss 11.1lb

Mounjaropen · 27/12/2024 17:38

Oh no! Hope she’s better soon!

Completely fine once she got out the car.

I ate far too much yesterday and no side effects. It’s like with mj. Due to jab tomorrow but shouldn’t have worn off yet. Too scared to get on the scales to establish the damage.

BlueWalker · 28/12/2024 09:58

W7D1
SW 16st 4lbs
CW 14st 12lbs
GW 10st (ish)

I weigh on jab day, so that's where I'm now at. Managed to lose this week despite FiL birthday dinner and Xmas a few days after. I have discovered some really tasty protein options at Lidl too, which is making it a lot easier to balance protein and carbs.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 28/12/2024 10:19

Morning! Still slightly up today but a) Christmas and b) my period’s due. No sign so far though so suspect MJ is messing with it. Yesterday I ate much more lightly, but today I’m going round to my mum’s for another big meal and a lot of drink. Then it will be DH’s birthday in a few days, although we’ll be at home so I can just have a small portion.

Coffeeandcinnamonbun · 28/12/2024 10:27

I just jabbed and there was liquid on my skin after I took the needle out. This hasn’t happened before. Does it mean some didn’t go in?

piscofrisco · 28/12/2024 10:28

I've been having Botox since I was 37-now 45. Tiny amount, more of a preventative than anything else. It's actually worked so well as I don't have many lines at all-but I don't have so much that my face is stuck or that anyone notices really except to say I look well when I've had it after the prior lot has worn off a touch. I'd draw the line at filler I think as I've seen so much of it done badly, but I'm happy with my baby Botox :)
