I've just taken my bonus dose and had a bit of a freak out over the size of the needle. I used a link from a thread here and it's an insulin needle so is ok to use subcutaneously but I think I will look for smaller needles next time. Trying to distract myself from the panic. Drew about 0.7 so an increased dose too.

I have had 3 meals out and drinks (eating loads less, drinking about the same as usual) and need to wobble my head about a half pound loss this week. Normally I'd be gaining. Overall I'm 9lbs down in 4 weeks. 5lbs of this in week 1.

Hi, sorry this advice is a bit late as you’ve already used the insulin needle, but I researched a bit on inject technique and found a medical information leaflet noise which indicated the 8mm (insulin needles) should be injected at a 45 degree angle (rather than a straight downwards 90 degree) and is helpful to pinch the skin as you inject (to create a lil fat cushion!)

Cantbesure · 17/12/2024 15:05

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo thank you. I'm definitely going to do more research if I do this again. I went spiralling into an absolute health crisis and imagined all sorts after I'd done it. I feel ok now so I imagine all is well but it's not worth a few hours of blind panic.

@Mounjaropen Thank you for the skincare tips! Definitely going to look at introducing vitamin C and retinol to my routine. Will also start making an effort to cleanse my skin properly - I’m so lazy with it that I often use facewipes!

Kids wet wipes here! 😂

Wow! After feeling horrible for two days I have woken up feeling great! Managed to eat just smaller portions and the sickness and diarrhoea stopped! Hurrah!!

Yay! 👏 so glad you’re feeling better! :)

I still don’t know what I’m going to do moving forwards as it was a grim 48 hours . Back to 2.5mg but then I don’t feel anything from it. 3.75mg feels good today. Suppression in that I’m not snacking and having smaller meals. The 5mg made me feel horrendous. Maybe I do 2.5mg with it being Xmas next week. I’m due to jab again on Saturday

Would 3mg maybe hit the sweet spot Ralala?

I'm intrigued by this but honestly don't know if I have the courage to actually put my stats in yet

I’m actually glad I’ve done it as I can see what everyone else sees really. As rubbish as that is.

On the upside today, the eyebrow lady opened the door and said “OMG! How much weight have you lost? You look fantastic” which did cheer me up 🥰

I completely missed the new thread!

I started on 5mg on Sunday. No real side effects so far, felt a bit sick this morning but I think that was more to do with the fact I'd been awake since 3 and was exhausted. I lost 10lbs in the 4 weeks I was on 2.5mg, and only 1lb in the fourth week, which I know is decent in the grand scheme of things but it's hard not to compare against the "I lost 3 stone in a week" people.

Well done! I’m in the slow loss club too. Keep going. We’ve got this 💪🏻

Been tired and dizzy this week but have had a UTI. 3 days antibiotics but still tired and dizzy. Hope it's not the pen.

Able to eat more at the moment but nothing sweet as it turns my stomach.
If I eat anything greasy I feel sick as well

I haven’t seen 9 on scales since I was in my 20’s so congratulations!

I've been experiencing sore eyelids on and off for a couple of weeks, but last night my eyes were feeling very sore and this morning they were so swollen I could hardly open them. I went to the gp who has prescribed antihistamines but they haven't yet taken the swelling down yet and I'm worried it means my mj journey is over, assuming it's the cause of the swelling. I was meant to do my 4th jab today but too scared to do it now. I have my 5mg pen in the fridge too... it's so frustrating.

Hey lostinchaos sorry to hear you’re getting sore eyelids. How many weeks are you in now? I’m just thinking maybe if you are several weeks in, could it be down to something else? I would think an allergic reaction would be apparent earlier on when starting MJ but I am not a medic and it could be some kind of delayed reaction. But maybe it is down to something else.

For example I get sore eyelids (and itchy) due to Blepharitis (sorry if that’s the wrong spelling) and treat it with eyelid wipes to help clear it up. I’ve had a flare up whilst on MJ but hard to tell whether this would have happened anyway as it is a re-occurring condition for me now.

Hooe you get to the bottom of it and GP’s don’t always get it right, if the antihistamines aren’t working I’d be going back again, eye care health is so important.

So sorry to read this. Is is possible it is a coincidence and it’s another environmental factor?

Ooh I might try some tea then in case it's working in reverse for me! I like the concept of tea but find it very meh as a drink.

Go for it, you never know! …and report back on said experiment 😁

Also COMPLETELY off marmite, and I normally love the stuff!

lostinchaos · 17/12/2024 15:27

Yes, possible it's unrelated... but it's impossible to know! Right now my main concern is getting the swelling to go down as it looks awful 😞

I started in the 15’s too Pumpkinforever and I was very excited to see 13.13 on my scales yesterday! Has been a looooong time since I’ve seen the 13’s so is a huge milestone win! (That is the only Christmas present I’ve been wanting tbh!)

Keep going - that 13 number is just around the corner!

I know it’s a long way to just overweight but let’s keep trucking, every pound counts! I heard it said once that with every lb lost it is the equivalent of 4 lbs off the knees (in terms or pressure) which is v encouraging :)

Congratulations! A new number at the start is such a boost.

Yes, possible it's unrelated... but it's impossible to know! Right now my main concern is getting the swelling to go down as it looks awful 😞

Weirdly, out of the blue last October my eyes suddenly went all red and I had horrible swollen eyelids. Took medicated eyedrops which helped but then the ‘infection’ seemed to leap from eye to eye (one would improve, the other go downhill etc.). This went on for weeks and weeks, and I had to keep trying different drops etc. Finally the GP suggested blepharitis (like @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo ). I wasn’t convinced but tried what they suggested, which included washing my eyes using cotton buds and warm water with a small amount of baby shampoo in it (it’s on the NHS website), and then regularly using eyedrops. It worked! I still have problems with eyes feeling weird and dry in the middle of the night - it can even be difficult to open them - but if I massage the eyelid it helps. So weird. And annoying!

Hmmm I could it be an eye infection? I’d get back on the GP or even do a walk in at a local Opticians for an eye health check asap. So sorry it sounds really uncomfortable, let us know how you get on x

Thank you, I was v excited (and slightly in disbelief tbh! 😂) Cannot even remember the last time I saw this number :)

lostinchaos · 17/12/2024 15:54

The gp said it didn't look like an infection as my eyes are still white. There is swelling below the eyebrow and under the eye, and dry, red skin on the eyelid that I'm concerned about. It's very noticeable and suggests to me something is wrong. I'm trying not to worry too much! Does that sound like blepharitis? I appreciate you are not a doctor but interested to learn from your experience if possible! Thanks for all the helpful responses, much appreciated x

Is it a bit flaky? I think sebhorreic dermatitis might sometimes happen that way. I get it sometimes on my scalp and in my eyebrows/round my nose, upper lip, chin.

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 17/12/2024 17:12

Hmm it is the actual eyelids that swell up for me (rather than under the eye and below the eyebrow) but yeah they do tend to go red (and also itchy). The advice was do not scratch though as can make it worse and spread it to the other eye

Sorry it’s difficult to tell but I would call the dr again tomorrow and explain the swelling is still there and you’re concerned.

but if it does prove to be Blepharitis, the treatment Goldleafcat described helped clear mine up (and sterile eye lid wipes help to treat minor ones and keep it at bay)

What extra do you get with the burrs check calorie counting app if you pay? I’ve got it and can add good in for free, so I’m wondering what extra there is if you pay?

A very very random and funny thing just happened this afternoon... A headhunter called me to see if I'm interested in a senior job with HeliosX, the company that owns MedExpress... And one of the benefits is that you can get free medication. I'm sure that's not actually ethical, but goodness, it really made me laugh!
