For those asking:
A good skincare regime does need time. Letting products absorb in before the next layer is important. A regime typically is
Cleanse (double cleanse if removing make up)
Acid Tone (if your skin will tolerate, pixi glow is a good starting product)
Treat -sp apply serum or vitamin product
Moisturise - something with a peptide complex is ideal. (The inkey list does a reasonably priced one)
SPF (daytime) apply religiously even if it is not summer.
remember that eye areas and neckrequire different products to suit the delicacy of the skin in those areas. Might go to for these are NiOD fractionating eye concentrate. (Pricey but effective) and Strivectin peptight range for both eyes and neck. Prai neck creams are also really good and are often on special offer at boots. Might be worth asking Santa for those.
vitamin C products are brightening products and should be used in the treat section in the morning. Vitamin C deteriorates quickly once opened so don’t buy anything which is too large in size. My absolute fave but expensive is Oskia as the vitamin C comes in separate capsules. These can irritate the skin so introduce slowly.
Vitamin A products or retinol should be introduced gradually and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There are many products on the market and its personal preference as to which you use depending on how sensitive your skin is. Start with a very low percentage.
If money is no object. I would recommend Elemis, Zelens, Kate Somerville, Sara Chapman and Dr Dennis Gross but l would stress that it really isn’t necessary to spend tons of money. TK Maxx often has expensive ranges at a discounted rate but make sure you check the expiry dates before purchase.
In general skincare doesn’t have to be exceedingly expensive the ordinary do an excellent range as does the inkey list. Superfacialist is also recently priced and available at most supermarkets. The main factor is to buy the products which do the job you need rather than buy one all-encompassing cream.
I like to use the nuface device, but you can get excellent results from a really good home facial massage.
as a lady of a certain age now, I find that the whisker situation is quite impressive so I do have professional derma planning once a month and every 6 to 8 weeks I have something called an eyelash lift which is basically a perm on your eyelashes to open them up. It really makes a difference, especially if you are not wearing make up. I use a product called Sweed at night which is an eyelash growth promotion product. Again it’s quite pricey, but it is really effective.
Obviously there are many schools of thoughts to whether any of this stuff works, but I find the process quite relaxing and is a bit of me time for a change. I certainly wouldn’t encourage anyone to spend more than they can afford. Everyone has a Nan who had great skin and just use a little bit of Nivea or ponds cold cream!
