I bought my first, then second MJ from MedExpress, no problems, ticked the inform my GP box.

MedExpress has asked my gp to confirm my Medical history.
My gp has refused?
I now have to get a patient summary of my health records and forward to MedExpress. Luckily I have plenty time to do this prior to reordering my next MJ.

I had this - I sent them screen shots of my ‘health conditions’ record from the NHS app and that seemed to be enough for them.

my mum who i see every few days commented i'd lost weight this weekend but none of my relatives i haven't seen for months said anything. we aren't known for being coy around such matters!

This made me laugh! Every time I see a new GP, they are frantically trying to make sense of my health history, including 2x cancer, one of which is ultra ultra rare... Usually I come in, sit down, and ask them if they want a short summary. And then they nod with gratitude... 😂

Day 1 of 5mg and I’ve only had 600 calories but not hungry. As I ate out in Bath yesterday I’m not stressing about today being too low but will plan better tomorrow. No symptoms at all so far, which seems odd considering everyone else’s experiences. Slightly worried the side effects will suddenly arrive Wednesday when I have a presentation.

A larger lady at work has lost a lot of weight (no idea if she’s on mj or not but she’s looking fab) so the attention is on her and definitely not me. I also feel bloated with my period today too.

onwards to Christmas. Just think of the people who’ll start with the new year new me plans and we’re all already 2 months ahead!

We had lamb shoulder last week and I also found it made me really nauseous for a couple of days afterwards. I think you're right it's the fatty foods that cause the issue. No issues at all with beef, chicken or fish.

Oh dear - I’m cooking lamb for friends this weekend…..

@Ralala Do you think maybe one of the other weight loss injections might suit you better? I know there’s a few different brands you could try? Might be worth asking the pharmacy you buy MJ through?

@Mounjaropen thanks for the popcorn recipe, I’m going to make it with my daughter and we’re going to watch ‘The Box of Delights’ whilst munching 😊.

I also can’t eat anything remotely fatty at the moment, it instantly makes me feel sick. I’m vegetarian so have been eating veg based soups. I got sick of tinned and now this is my favourite:

3 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion finely chopped
3 carrots finely chopped
3 celery sticks finely chopped (I often omit these)
150g red lentils (rinsed and drained)
2 tsp cumin seeds
2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
300ml boiling water
1 stock cube (veg or chicken)
salt and pepper

Heat 1/2 the olive oil on a medium heat, fry the onion for 10 mins until soft. Add the rest of the oil, carrots and celery and fry for 5 mins until softened.

Stir in lentils, cumin seeds, tomatoes, water and stock and season with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil, simmer for 20 mins or until lentils are soft.

Wizz it all up with a hand blender or whatever you have and add extra water if it’s really thick.

I find this great on MJ because it’s filling and nutritious but not at all greasy.

Ooh thanks for the recipe! will try next week…

Those of you who haven't told anyone that you're taking MJ, what do you tell people who comment on how little that you're eating? Only my DS and DIL know that I'm taking it but others keep commenting on my lack of appetite. It's only going to become more noticeable over the festive period.

I’ve told everyone tbh. I’m not ashamed and tbf, plenty of people asking how it works, how i feel etc.

So far no-one has noticed my 1.5 Stone weight loss (11 pounds of that has been mj over the last 3 weeks) since October, or the fact I'm eating much less. I have not told anyone what I am doing and if my husband ever actually notices, my plan is to say I'm just trying to be a bit healthier with my eating / exercise. I wouldn't over think it... just say your on weight watchers or something like that and perhaps mention a new personal trainer!

DH is considering taking MJ in the new year. He has been impressed with my loss so far which is nice.

Does anyone feel cold while using MJ? So I’m one of these people that never feels cold… recently I do though, I wonder if that’s due to an endocrinological change 🤷‍♀️

lostinchaos · 16/12/2024 19:44

The reason I haven't told my husband is because he just says exercise more as the answer to my weight problems... he doesn't understand disordered eating and binge eating, as he has always been very restrained around food. He simply would not approve of me paying for a drug to help me overcome my problems and get back to a healthy weight.

I bet you can tell and @lostinchaos too,

I saw a mum from DD’s old school in the supermarket last week. She looked like she’d lost a load of weight. I assumed Ozempic was the reason she was looking thin…I stupidly said ‘Ooh you are wasting away”. Turns out she had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I felt truly terrible. She was very gracious about it. I don’t think I would comment again if I was in the same position, so don’t take silence as no one noticing… they might just not want to comment. Or have foot in mouth disease like me 😩

It is a known side effect.

My DH used to be like that until he struggled to lose weight in his 50’s and developed a heart condition. He has a changed mindset now.

Yes. I do feel the cold but not usually in this house (newish and well insulated). I’m freezing all the time and dh has got me a heated throw for Christmas. He’s also making me hot water bottles every evening/night.

My medical history normally has to be explained in detail whenever I see a different medical professional too (2x cancer myself but neither particularly rare) - but I think because none of their checklist of issues were noted, they just popped a note on their records. I guess they have their criteria and as long as you fit in those parameters, nothing else really matters!

Week 7 D1 - I weighed this morning and have lost a further 2 lbs. Pleased with the loss but am not feeling in control of my eating (have started grazing when I don't want to) so bit disappointed about that. I think it is because I have had more carbs in the last few days.

Total loss to date: 19lb
I took a second dose of 3.75mg this week. Am aiming to increase to 5mg in the New Year I think.

Well done everyone.

I have had 5 emails today from Med Express, had a discussion with receptionist at Gp and she confirmed what med express said and forwarded me the email my Gp emailed to Medexpress.

Ah I see. I ticked the consent box too but I have no idea if they contacted them or not as haven’t heard anything . 💁🏼‍♀️

I logged into my NHS app for the first time in months today and it turns out I have had 3 letters from Med Express scanned in by my GP surgery informing them I am on Mounjaro, that I have declared I do not have a list of health conditions, and that the practice only needs to contact them if that information is incorrect. I found it quite reassuring they were checking in.

I don’t really like it to be honest. But I haven’t heard anything so hopefully that’s all fine and I won’t have any issues.

I agree, it fills me with confidence that there is a line of communication.

I have nothing to hide, I told ME the truth about my medical history, my GP is just being a bit of a dick by not confirming it, however, tomorrow , I should get a patient summary from doc which I will email over to ME.

Fab loss! W7D1 here too. Just taken my third dose of 5mg. 🤞 the symptoms stay away this week!

@Mounjaropen

i've learned never comment on someone's weight unless i knew them very well as it's a bit like pregnancy, don't comment unless you can see the head 😂

i can tell as my clothes are starting to look loose and my mr greedy side profile has changed significantly. but if people don't comment that's fine.

i don't have to lie about using jabs that way so kind of a win.

if i do manage the last stone and still no one notices i might have a sulk then!
