Thank you @MsRumpole! Yesterday's dinner was slow cooked beef - absolutely delicious, but I think I also need to be very cautious with this sort of thing. I've ordered sea bass for tonight (you have to select what you want the day before), so that should be somewhat safer. I'll report back 😂

Ralala · 16/12/2024 11:56

Sorry I can’t find the message to reply too! I was on 2.5mg and was largely ok on it minus a few symptoms but nothing too bad. I moved up to 5mg and was completely floored the first week. It was thought it was a vomiting big as opposed to the jab. Last week I opted to do 2.5mg from my 5mg pen which helped massively but by mid week I was starving and lots of food noise. So I opted to try 3.75 this week but it’s not agreeing with me at all. The 2.5 isn’t really worth the money tbh but I can’t tolerate anything higher!

Ralala · 16/12/2024 11:57

I will do a weigh in at the end of the week as I suspect any weigh in right now isn’t reliable as it will all be water weight due to keeping nothing in

I adjusted my jab days last week so I do it on a Thursday now. So hopefully supression will be less on Christmas Day & I can jab on boxing day.

I do mine on a Thursday and I find it really helps with most suppression taking place over the weekend where temptation is highest!

I'm only on 2.5, but I made slow-cooked shoulder of lamb (so quite a fatty cut) and fried potatoes last night and really struggled with the lamb as it was both delicious and seriously rich. I definitely find fatty food harder to manage than I did.

We had lamb shoulder last week and I also found it made me really nauseous for a couple of days afterwards. I think you're right it's the fatty foods that cause the issue. No issues at all with beef, chicken or fish.

lostinchaos · 16/12/2024 12:20

I am on my last day before my 4th jab and feeling peckish today. I think it's influenced by the fact I have my period though too, as I've found 2.5 has been great for me in terms of appetite suppression so far. I have also resisted weighing today as I know the scales will have gone up as a consequence of my hormones, and don't want to feel too disheartened as a consequence. Any tips for navigating the next 24 hrs without reaching for my usual treats at this time of the month, would be gratefully received!

Demjay · 16/12/2024 13:09

So I keep messing up my injection. This time I forgot to hold it in for 10 secs 🙈. Do you think it will still work? I’m so hungry right now so panicking.

BleachedJumper · 16/12/2024 13:16

Did you notice any fluid on the surface of your jab site @Demjay? I think a tiny bit is normal/okay, but there is a chance it hasn’t absorbed fully.

I didn’t notice any fluid no. Uggghh I think I may have messed it up again. You’d think it would be simple - but not for my adhd brain unfortunately 🤦🏼‍♀️

lostinchaos · 16/12/2024 13:36

I forgot to leave it in for ten secs the first time, but I really don't think it mattered as I definitely felt the side effects. How long ago did you jab?

Demjay · 16/12/2024 13:46

Ahh that's good to here. only jabbed a couple of hours ago to be fair 😅. Hopefully suppression kicks in x

Just done my second 5mg jab and keeping everything crossed that last week’s nausea isn’t repeated. That, on top of the suppression, meant I struggled to hit a sensible calorie intake most days which is something I need to work on. Apart from a rogue mince pie yesterday, I have managed to make sure that all my food calories have been healthy ones which is something I guess. And I’ve had to retire my favourite jeans - they got to the point where they looked like I’d borrowed them from someone else. I do have a few pairs that will tide me over, I don’t want to be buying new clothes until I’m nearer where I want to be. I think I have this and the next size down sorted - tops I’m not worried about as they’ll be covered by coats and jumpers anyway.

That’s another 5lb off this week, which I’m putting down more to not eating enough, which isn’t really what I want to be doing. I’m 1lb away from a 2st loss and I’d be happy just to lose that this week if I can get my eating right. Saying that, I’d love to see in the new year in one-derland, and that’s 5lb away. Just over a 2lb a week loss for the next fortnight will get me there.

That’s incredible! Well done. I started the same weight as you and am a stone behind 😬

Good luck - I’m sure you’ll get to your goal for NY.

I am officially not obese! <jumps for joy> I lost 0.6 lb overnight and Shotsy is now saying my BMI is 29.9! Hurray!

In other news I dragged another pair of jeans that were previously too tight out of the wardrobe and they are loose! These are my two biggest pairs of jeans, mind you - haven’t tried any of the smaller ones. DD has been wearing a pair of Levi’s I bought in the summer and never wore because they were too small. I picked them off her floor yesterday and washed them, and I’m going to try them on when they’ve dried. They were significantly smaller than these, though (despite both being 30” waist) so I might not be there yet.

I keep pausing on my way past the hall mirror to pull up my jumper and admire the lack of muffin top!

Woohoo way to go! That’s brilliant.

I’ve found if I eat greasy food it doesn’t end well (trips to the loo!).

Your holiday and the food sounds lovely, hope you’re having a great time.

Okay you’ve both convinced me. It does make sense - weekends are my downfall! Will do it from Boxing Day and then through January and see how I get on.

StarShapedWindow · 16/12/2024 14:42

@Ralala Do you think maybe one of the other weight loss injections might suit you better? I know there’s a few different brands you could try? Might be worth asking the pharmacy you buy MJ through?

@Mounjaropen thanks for the popcorn recipe, I’m going to make it with my daughter and we’re going to watch ‘The Box of Delights’ whilst munching 😊.

I also can’t eat anything remotely fatty at the moment, it instantly makes me feel sick. I’m vegetarian so have been eating veg based soups. I got sick of tinned and now this is my favourite:

3 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion finely chopped
3 carrots finely chopped
3 celery sticks finely chopped (I often omit these)
150g red lentils (rinsed and drained)
2 tsp cumin seeds
2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
300ml boiling water
1 stock cube (veg or chicken)
salt and pepper

Heat 1/2 the olive oil on a medium heat, fry the onion for 10 mins until soft. Add the rest of the oil, carrots and celery and fry for 5 mins until softened.

Stir in lentils, cumin seeds, tomatoes, water and stock and season with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil, simmer for 20 mins or until lentils are soft.

Wizz it all up with a hand blender or whatever you have and add extra water if it’s really thick.

I find this great on MJ because it’s filling and nutritious but not at all greasy.

MsRumpole · 16/12/2024 14:48

I was so sad because the lamb was cooked to perfection (if I do say so myself), the gravy was glorious and I had actually removed the vast majority of the fat that could be seen but it was just too much for my new and improved post-Mounjaro digestive tract

Pumpkinforever · 16/12/2024 14:51

@StarShapedWindow thanks for the recipe. I am really into lentil soups now.

Dreamqueen · 16/12/2024 16:44

Those of you who haven't told anyone that you're taking MJ, what do you tell people who comment on how little that you're eating? Only my DS and DIL know that I'm taking it but others keep commenting on my lack of appetite. It's only going to become more noticeable over the festive period.

Pumpkinforever · 16/12/2024 17:03

I just say I am on a diet. Given I am a larger lady my friends are supportive

DarkForces · 16/12/2024 17:17

I don't have a problem saying I'm on Mounjaro. If people judge me then honestly they're not my people. I'd rather not have people in my life who judge me trying to live healthily

lostinchaos · 16/12/2024 17:23

So far no-one has noticed my 1.5 Stone weight loss (11 pounds of that has been mj over the last 3 weeks) since October, or the fact I'm eating much less. I have not told anyone what I am doing and if my husband ever actually notices, my plan is to say I'm just trying to be a bit healthier with my eating / exercise. I wouldn't over think it... just say your on weight watchers or something like that and perhaps mention a new personal trainer!

lovealongbath · 16/12/2024 17:28

I bought my first, then second MJ from MedExpress, no problems, ticked the inform my GP box.

MedExpress has asked my gp to confirm my Medical history.
My gp has refused?
I now have to get a patient summary of my health records and forward to MedExpress. Luckily I have plenty time to do this prior to reordering my next MJ.

IndigoHexagon · 16/12/2024 17:35

@Dreamqueen my go to when I went out with friends who asked if I hadn’t enjoyed my dinner was that I was on antibiotics that were making me feel a little queasy 😂 when I was asked why I was taking them I just replied that it was nothing I wanted to mention while they were eating. Shut them up instantly!

StarShapedWindow · 16/12/2024 17:42

I’d just say ‘l’ve had enough, I’m full’. It’s rude for people to comment. I’m very much a fan of ‘never explain, never complain’.
