DH has been on them for a couple of months and they've changed our lives for the better. He's an over eater/ mild binger and generally quite obsessed with food. Never managed to keep weight off.

Now he's happy, calm, doesn't think about food, eats like a 'normal person' and it's freed up so much space and joy in our lives.

Apparently in the future it'll be a pill you can either take that day or not, e.g. Most days but not Christmas day. Incredible!

Yes I know people get side effects and they don't work for everyone, etc. But I'm very impressed.
Apparently they also help alcoholics and other addicts as they work on the reward centre's of the brain. Amazing.

None of us? Assuming you are right and everyone agrees with you is childish it’s a forum for debate. You are adding your own interpretation here. No where did I say is was a bad pharmacy? It was the very one everyone has spoken about. I work in healthcare and have seen it first hand. You are making a lot of assumptions yet a quick google will show you plenty of people caught out by severe side effects.
I have no idea why some posters are getting so upset? It’s a great drug when used correctly but to be able to buy it without a prescription is a concern

What one? Med express? oushk? They do not prescribe without a full length photo. So you’re mistaken,

HollyKnight · 05/12/2024 08:07

It is prescribed. It is prescribed based on what you tell the prescriber. I could phone my GP today and tell them I've been coughing up gunk for 5 days and be prescribed penicillin based on that. I can go to Superdrug online and tell them I'm having a flare up of herpes and be prescribed antivirals based on that. No one needs to see me in person to look at my cough or genitals. Doctors don't work on the assumption that everyone is a liar or idiot.

The pharmacist has no access to medical records that’s the problem. If it were prescribed by a GP either a private GP or your own then there would be a greater level of safety for the person taking it.

If you elect not to let your doctor know and lie that’s on you.

I discussed with my doc in advance, I had them notified. Most pharmacies would even prescribe wothout letting the gp know. Gp’s are instructed to review.

but I agree that there should not be an option not to let doctors know. However lying to obtain drugs illegally, is on the person.

the very low instance of medical serious issues would signify what you’re talking about is low.

@NearlyNewHip Yes! And..

Guinea pig
I work in healthcare

Possibly ‘whataboutary’ too?

That is 100% not true. I have seen a family member get Mounjaro without any pictures what so ever. Yes they lie about BMI. The issue is that any underlying health issue cannot be taken into account nor does the online pharmacy have access to someone’s medical records so they have no idea of contraindications. Lots of people don’t understand the interactions between medications because they are not medically trained.

Pharmacists are incredibly well trained in drug interactions. That's literally their specialty. I've had them pick up issues with GP prescriptions and have to get GP to reissue. They ask you all the medication you take, including over the counter every time you order. If people lie that's not a reason to stop legitimate users from having straightforward access to a drug that has incredible benefits in terms of personal and public health

NearlyNewHip · 05/12/2024 08:19

Oh look!!! If you watch the news, you needn't worry anymore. Access to the injections will be rolled out via GP weight loss clinics......in 12 fucking years!!!!! I'd rather be honest on medical questionnaires and have it prescribed by my pharmacist now. (Yes I'm in the fortunate position that I can afford -just-to pay for it privately)

NearlyNewHip · 05/12/2024 08:22

But maybe because some idiot 18 year olds are lying to obtain drugs illegally, I should wait 12 years and stay obese.....

Maybe the 12 year wait is my penance for being a lazy, gluttonous, fat fucker!!!

Dietingfool · 05/12/2024 08:25

Why aren’t people just honest. Just say it. Own it.

“im envious as I want the drugs and can’t afford them/aren’t fat enough/have major health anxiety/am on contradictory drugs,”
“I’m pissed off as I work so hard to be slim I resent others being slim too on what I see as the easy option.”

id have more respect.

DarkForces · 05/12/2024 08:25

I wouldn't qualify for NHS access as I'm healthy despite being obese. It seems crazy to wait to get an additional qualifying condition rather than just get on with losing the weight. I'm saving the NHS money, but somehow am responsible for the Kardashians getting the drug in the US!

Thank you for a balanced view.
I totally respect how you have handled being on the drug having your GP involved is what most responsible adults would do.
I am trying to explain how there is a rise in people being admitted to hospital with side effects such as seizures because they have not informed their GP or got advice and are taking it when they shouldn’t. Yes that’s on the person but there are a lot of young adults that are immature and able to get the drug too easily. The drug should be for those people that would really benefit from it.

Currently it is being abused by people who are able to circumvent the rules making it harder for people who should be on it to get it and in some instances ending with them using hospital resources because they have made themselves very ill. This is a growing trend.

Really great to hear it's working well for him. My friend's husband is on them though and he's completely disinterested in sex. Something to do with it being unable to distinguish between kinds of rewards? She preferred him overweight (he wasn't by much and he got them privately online) and wanting to have sex with her!

Is she sure he’s not losing weight for someone else…?

Please link to this rise in seizures due to people using the drug illegally? That’s not a claim I’ve seen. So you need to evidence it.

amd it isn’t harder for people to get who should be on it due to a small amount of folks abusing it. It’s what you’re arguing for. Tighter regulations, make it harder, it isn’t happening though,

If you’re referring to me you are incorrect as I am on it. I have multiple health conditions and I applaud anyone who loses weight they’re unhappy
with. What I don’t like is seeing 2 people in one week in hospital with side effects caused because they no not need to have seen a GP even a private one.

Honestly you’re going to have to evidence this stuff you keep posting. Otherwise I’m sure you know it looks like you’re making stuff up.

I’ve seen it at the hospital I work at. Look up Lottie Moss as she would represent what we are seeing

It would be no harder to get having a Private GP appointment

NearlyNewHip · 05/12/2024 08:33

I dont know who lottie moss (by the surname, was she slim like her mum) is. Was she obese? If not, honestly don't give a shit.

Ok so you can’t evidence it. And no one celeb does not a case make.

im sorry, but no matter how hard you try with your unsubstantiated anecdotal stories, where you know all the patients at your hospital , we are going to go with the evidenced stats available.

HollyKnight · 05/12/2024 08:37

Lottie Moss took a higher dose than you are supposed to at the start. Hence why she had bad side effects. There is a reason everyone starts on a very low non-theraputic dose. It is to minimise the side effects while gradually adjusting to a higher dose.

She didn't buy it online either. She got it from a friend of a friend.

I don't know what she is an example of other than an idiot.

For someone who works in the health service you seem to have very little respect for pharmacists. I also work in the health service and massively appreciate their skilled work in prescribing and monitoring drugs. GPs rely on them to do medication reviews due to their training and experience. GPs time can be much better used than prescribing medications that have been approved by the MRA as suitable for prescribing by pharmacists.

HollyKnight · 05/12/2024 08:40

If people just start jabbing themselves with stupid doses of course they're going to end up in hospital. No online prescriber let's you start on a higher dose. And generally when you switch providers you have to prove what dose you are currently on before they will prescribe it for you. If you don't, you have to start from the bottom again.

To be honest the amount of people who have typed they don’t give a shit or couldn’t care less about anyone else is sad.
You’ve taken it out of context. It’s nothing to do with how good a pharmacist is and everything to do with the fact it’s available to people that don’t need it with not enough information.

A Nurse has died from using Mounjaro this is why there is no way I would be trying it until there is more evidence of the long term effects. She was a qualified medical professional and died.

Make your mind up!! 🙄🤔

Exactly a quick skim of the article shows what an airhead she is in her views and choices. Idiotic.

But where are all the po faced threads about the misuse of over the counter painkillers?
