Does anyone else struggle to resist the munchies in the evening? I've been so good all day but decided to put on a Christmas movie and now all I can think about is having something to eat. It seems to be the one time that it doesn't switch off the food noise in my head.

Yes. I usually pre plan a snack. It could be a mince pie or banana sliced with chia seeds depending on the rest of the day. Treat food twice a week max though. Plus herbal or green tea. Popcorn is a good snack too.

As it’s pre planned it stops me eating every snack.

I’m trying to set up maintenance lifestyle changes that I might be able to stick to. Maybe.

No, I definitely have the urge to have a little treat of some sort if I've been restrained all day. I'm having a herbal tea to distract myself!

I keep a stash of the bags of mini Maryland cookies and ginger men for sweet snacks, both under 100 cals and enough to ward off any craving.
I find around 3 I get hungry but evenings are not too bad at the moment.

What have you eaten today? Maybe we can put heads together and find be culprit.

Edited

For me it’s def dairy. Specifically cheese. Unfortunately Stilton was brought into the house and I couldn’t resist 🙈

Sad times. I’ve avoided cheese - very odd for me as I love Camembert in December with bread dipped. I’ve avoided buying it as even mj wouldn’t stop that binge.

Ive grazed today. Its been mindless. I cant wait to take my next jab to get that suppression back. I’m not going to start properly losing again until I do i don’t think,

The way this drug works is bonkers. I spent the whole first two and a bit weeks asking myself regularly whether I felt hungry and the answer was always no, I would often forget about food and I would wonder if I wanted a bit of chocolate and the answer was genuinely ‘nah I don’t fancy it’.

The last couple of days my intake has been utterly mindless, I’m not thinking about food so much as it is now just a massive part of my life again, whereas at the beginning I could take or leave it.

I jab on a Friday and by Tuesday I'm always ready to sabotage, ordinarily, I'd have a binge on something but even with the supression waning and food noise coming back I'm not being too reckless so that's something. Food has not been brilliant today (think work canteen for all meals) but I have eaten three times, not overboard but just crap food. I was going to do a split dose this week and do another 2.5 tonight but I've thought better of it ( had a small glass of red wine when I got home from my commute and don't want to tempt fate with side effects tomorrow as I've developed a head ache already) so will take 3.75 on Friday my normal jab day and see how I fare. Mindless grazing is a habit I would like to shift. Even on high supression days I often find myself opening the fridge and staring into it, just standing there until I have a word with myself and move on.

Morning everyone!

Checking in with some relief today! Scales had been creeping up over the weekend and I was eating a lot more than usual so I was starting to think I’d made a mistake staying on 2.5 but monthly cycle has arrived early so now it’s all making sense and scales have gone back down!

weekend was a bit lax with food tracking so I’ve reigned that back in and this weeks goal is to close all 3 rings on my watch every day which is so far going well!

Today will be:

🏃‍♀️slow jog/plod

B: Porridge
L: Omelette
D: Tuscan Chicken with steamed veg

Invisablepanic · 11/12/2024 07:30

About 1.5lb increase even though I've barely eaten since Saturday! I'm a little backed up but not that much...this is why I try and avoid mid-week weighing.

TeenLifeMum · 11/12/2024 07:50

I’ll join you all - I’ve put on 1lb and lost it again, that’s it, despite strict calorie counting. Overall I’ve had good loss but the weeks before Christmas week are declining and I’m not where I want to be.

McZeba · 11/12/2024 08:28

Only half a pound off this week, I have been in deficit all week and drinking 2 lts of water a day. However, I 'feel' slimmer and as I have mentioned before, alcohol was my best friend - now I rarely think about it x

PandasMum · 11/12/2024 08:33

I’ve been eating about 1,500 - 1,700 most days but that’s pretty low for my size as to maintain would be about 2,400. I also want to try and create sustainable habits.

Ralala · 11/12/2024 08:38

My weight definitely fluctuates over the week. I need to weight every other week to see any real weight loss/ gain. Don’t be too disheartened with any gains etc

I have put back on today too and still ravenous. I think maybe I should have gone straight to 5mg instead of 3.75

I know, I think because I've had more side effects since I'm injecting on Friday I felt I deserved a good loss!

I’m going up to 5mg on Sunday and I’m just going to do it and trust the dosing advice. Still a few days for loss to come for the week. I was hoping for 2lbs so not expecting big moment this week… but even that seems tricky right now.

Kialla · 11/12/2024 09:56

I'm really interested in the discussion about cortisol. @Mounjaropen do you happen to know which segment of R5Live it was on?

I've got PCOS and it has got harder to lose weight as I got older. Then Gestational Diabetes leading to pre-diabetes (I was on the cusp of T2 but reversed it be drastically cutting carbs). I strongly suspect I've got some insulin resistance going on.

I spent a good 3 months of this year in a consistent calorie deficit, plus exercise, and lost nothing. I spoke to my GP who did some blood and hormone tests but everything came back normal. I used to joke that I could eat 3 plain salads a day and still gain weight. So the comment about lettuce really resonates!

I have a completely non-qualified theory that mounjaro is working well for me because I have the conditions it is designed to help with. Not suggesting that it doesn't work for others, but it helps me to understand why this works when nothing else did

piscofrisco · 11/12/2024 10:09

I'm in week 4 day 3 now, (I jabbed late last week due to feeling awful with flu and couldn't face any side effects on top). Still on 2.5. Suppression is much less this week so will be going up to 5 on Sunday.

TeenLifeMum · 11/12/2024 10:18

Me too @piscofrisco . Sunday is the day!

TeenLifeMum · 11/12/2024 10:42

TMI, apologies in advance.

I moaned to dh about the 1lb on and off and he asked (20 years of marriage) when I last did a poo. He has a point. It has been a few days so maybe that’s the issue. Lots of water today.

Did you steal the bread from an orphan? If not there is no need for guilt, it's just food! It sounds like you've barely had 500 cals so far today - eat!

😂'Did you steal the bread from an orphan?"

Hi, it was on Naga Munchetti's 'time of the month' slot. Roughly 12-1 yesterday afternoon.

Absolutely agree with this. DD's old school carol concert last night. I would've smashed through at least 2 mulled wines - didn't even miss it yesterday and drove. Saved £'s on cab and fares getting there to have 2 glasses of low-quality alcohol. Mad isn't it?
