Thanks everyone for the encouragement! Yes, I weigh daily as I find it keeps me on track too. Yesterday I was half a pound heavier, which I felt ok about after the weekend. But considering I've pretty
Much gone teetotal and have been keeping to around 800 calories a day, aside from Friday and Saturday, where it was more like 1000, possibly 1200... it just feels a bit disheartening. Particularly as yesterday I was very conservative with my eating and had a good amount of exercise, and yet I gained another half a pound today.... Confused But I will try to shake it off and will stay focused on the end goal! Overall, I do think it's been so helpful to break my binge eating habits, and I do feel so much better already after losing 6 pounds. But i would love to get to a stone before Xmas.

Hey all 👋 I just wanted to come and say Hi and I haven't abandoned the group LOL. Currently away in the US seeing my best friend who moved here a few years ago. I was dreading coming, because I love visiting the US especially for all their massive portions 🙄and fabulous candy.....well mainly the M&Ms. Luckily I am staying at his house and have managed to resist most of the temptations until today when I just couldn't stay away from The Cheesecake Factory any longer !! Happy to report, I didn't have any cheesecake (insert smug face) and just chose 2 small starters that I couldn't finish and bough home in a to go box. I will be weighing when I get back to the UK as I don't want to ruin my stay with scales anxiety.

Massive well done to everyone out there, keep it going, we got this !!

That sounds amazing! Enjoy the rest of the holiday!

Good luck!

Thanks! Had a bit of a headache before sleep but two paracetamol sorted that. I did have the usual jab day insomnia at around 2am which was a bit of a bore. Scales have stayed the same after a weekend of some booze and eating out so I remain at 12st10.2lbs. I've done my 10k steps today (dog walk plus treadmill incline walk), 30 mins of pilates so I'd like to think that by Saturday Morning I might be down to 12st 8lb....fingers crossed.

How is it going at your end?

I'm on wk2 d6, and it appears I have not lost anything this week... in fact I've gained slightly. I did eat slightly more over the weekend with my family at an event, but definitely stayed under 1000 calories a day. I know it's just one week, but it's making me feel a bit teary as I'm trying so hard with my eating and exercise. Xmas Hmm

Honestly, check back over my posts. I’ve 100% been there, it still isn’t coming off as quickly as I’d like but that feeling of teary frustration is one that resonates with me big time.

Morning!

Some fab losses this week, well done everyone!

I've got sticky scales again, not completely unexpected as I've also had to revert to my old friend Senna...

We had a family meal on Saturday, I picked a beef stew and tiramisu. Managed about a third of each, much to the delight of my sister who got a free dessert! Other than the 2 spoonfuls of tiramisu, it seemed pretty healthy but I felt a bit ropey on Sunday. Almost hungover, but I hadn't had a drink.

I've re-ordered 5mg as it's been great so far with no side effects. I'm not hungry and the food noise isn't back, but have felt more 'picky' in the last couple of days. Not sure I'll be able to resist when the christmas chocolates come out.

I'll have a bonus dose left from my first 5mg pen plus the bonus dose from the new one. So was wondering about either trying to take about 6mg each week OR taking it every 5/6 days instead of weekly. Has anyone tried that? Reluctant to mess about with things too much but also don't want to lose the benefit over Christmas.

Personally, I 'd stick with the doses and intervals that have been approved at the trial stages - but I am risk averse.

Still bobbing around the same couple of weights in the high 15’s, suppression is almost non existent now so looking forward to moving up to 5mg on Thursday.

DarkForces · 10/12/2024 07:59

My shitty scales are showing my weight as between 12.9ish and 13 on the nose so I've no idea of my actual weight. Can't wait to get my new scales for Christmas as it's depressing to still not be in the 12s despite eating less than the first few weeks. Without Mounjaro I'd have given up but as it's not that painful ravenous hunger I've got the will power to carry on. I've lost roughly a stone in 5 weeks

Keep going. I reckon you might have a lovely surprise with the new scales! Just a reminder to make sure that the scales are level on a hard surface - carpet will play havoc with accuracy.

Morning all! The 2.5mg is working well for me this week. I feel comfortably full but can eat food. Whatever I had last week seems to be gone!! Hurrah! I’m a little constipated but I find I get that around 48/72hours post injection . Nothing too bad and should work itself out this week!
I have a Xmas party on Friday. 3 course meal. Urghhh!! I definitely won’t want to eat it. Those mass produced Xmas meals are bad enough at the best of times nevermind when you aren’t hungry!

Just eat what you fancy and leave the rest. I agree they are not the best!

@Ralala mass produced.... 😆 I went to a Christmas meal one year and had ordered a pâté starter. I swear to god it was a tray of cat food they put in front of me Xmas Confused

First stone lost in 4.5 weeks, feeling very happy after a few days here and there of not losing or gaining slightly. So happy I started this. 2.5 stone to go 🤞

Wonderful! You sound about where I am in terms of what is yet to shift...

On MJ, my weight tends to stay about the same (occasionally increasing by 100g or so) for 5-6 days and then I get a drop.

Could yours be similar? I weigh daily as I've done coaching in the past and that was always their recommendation. With this pattern, it's helping to keep me motivated.

Absolutely agree with this. My pattern is weekend eating - weigh in Monday (also jab day) with no movement on the best amount from the week before, Tuesday-Thursday no shift, Friday a little shift, Saturday a couple of lbs have gone. And repeat....

Thanks @Mounjaropen. I'm weighing on a hard floor but maybe I need to mark the spot somehow so at least it's consistent. Taking inspiration from your recipes too!

I'm trying to just eat a banana and small meal a day to get properly into the 12s but appreciate this can't go on long. Had some wine at the weekend but dh likes to share a bottle and I don't want everything to be dominated by restrictions. Obviously not allowed on work nights!

Second dose of 5 this pm

Pumpkinforever · 10/12/2024 12:18

@DarkForces I weigh on the same downstairs floor tile every week. If I weighed myself on carpets it can vary by 5lbs due to uneven floors and carpet wear.

I too am a @Mounjaropen food fan and on tonight’s menu is stroganoff with a mountain of green veg.

@Ralala I have found that no one has commented that Pumpkin isn’t licking the plate clean as always nor have they said Pumpkin hasn’t eaten her chips. I skipped pudding and had peppermint tea just like the very slender ladies in the group. (I am not anywhere near slender yet as firmly in the obese category). Blokes noticed nothing.

Off for lunchtime walk as I need to get my 10k steps in💪🏻

MounjaroMan66 · 10/12/2024 12:47

Morning all, hope you don’t mind a middle aged father of two joining the gang. I’m on week 3 now and lost 12lbs in the first two weeks. It really feels like a game changer. If anyone wants to ask anything about how it’s been going then feel free to reach out.

No side effects so I’ve been incredibly lucky. Started wth my DW and she’s 8lbs down. Using MedExpress who were really good and took theee pictures before they accepted me. This was reassuring as it showed they will not give it out to those who don’t need it.

mumsnet has been a great source of inspiration and knowledge. Love to you all.

Edited

We have laminate that should be smooth but it seems to be more about where/how I stand on the scales. Hopefully the new smart scales from Santa will be more consistent.

I swear thinking about how to use scales is replacing food as a constant thought 😂

Ok, so far on my MJ journey I’ve had limited appetite suppression (definitely seen a difference in my ability to avoid snacks though which was great), but since my 3rd 5mg dose yesterday (touches all matters of wood) (well maybe not all!) I am not hungry? At all? All I’ve had today is some soup at lunchtime (because I thought I had better eat!). Has it finally taken effect?!

(and eek, I have a work Christmas lunch tomorrow, not the best timing!)

Will see how I get on in the coming days. I was very hungry and could definitely overeat if I wanted to at the weekend.

Mounjaropen · 10/12/2024 15:06

Food today:

I've roasted a whole chicken this morning with lemon, garlic, thyme and rosemary in the cavity before collecting DD from the airport as she's home from Uni. We've just had both of the breasts with a rocket and tomato salad for a late lunch, followed by a. fruit salad of Kiwi, Mango, Strawberries and passion fruit - DH will have the legs tonight served with a roasting tin of Harissa vegetables that I have prepped as I'm off to DD's old school carol concert tonight.

Tomorrow I will make a chicken risotto from the left over pickings from the carcass along with some mushrooms and petit pots (not quite a MN mythical chicken that feeds a family of 6 for a week, but I'm happy to get two dinners out of it!).

Interesting discussion on R5L earlier about weight and PCOS. The Dr on the show said cortisol is an issue with people carrying excess weight and in her words 'They could eat lettuce and still put weight on and for those people the influence of cortisol is much more complex than simply calories in and calories out when trying to lose weight'.

@Mounjaropen if you're ever looking to adopt someone to feed I'd like to add my name to the ring!

Depressing about cortisol. I mean we have to eat, but if it's hopeless then that's awful. Got to keep trying though!

PinkArt · 10/12/2024 15:45

@Goldleafcat I get that the first couple of days after I jab. On the first day I left it to see how long until some sort of hunger kicked in and eventually ate at about half 3 when it didn't. I can eat still, although I'd struggle with a big meal, but the feeling of hunger goes completely. It doesn't last the whole week to that extent but it's very useful over the weekends when my 'bad' eating was probably worst.

Goldleafcat · 10/12/2024 15:48

@DarkForces @Mounjaropen I saw an article about that too. They recommend de-stressing your life and have tips about things like mindfulness (I never really get!) and to make sure you get plenty of sunlight which helps to regulate mood and cortisol levels. Also stuff like going to bed earlier, dialling back social media, special breathing. All good advice I never seem to adhere too! Interestingly there was a bit about workouts:

“Working out in general is a form of stress, as it activates our sympathetic nervous system,” says Mark Bohannon, senior trainer at Ultimate Performance, a personal training company that looks at the hormonal profiles of its clients.
“If people are struggling with chronic stress or cortisol issues, I would recommend removing any long-duration cardio from their routine. Protect your central nervous system from excessive systemic fatigue by stopping a couple of reps short of your limit when weight training.”

lostinchaos · 10/12/2024 15:50

That's interesting about pcos... i was diagnosed in my 20s. It affected me hugely as a teenager with my weight, but I managed to lose it and sustain the weight loss until after my pregnancies. But to maintain it I did restrict my diet a lot and exercised a crazy amount!
