Weighed myself this morning and I’m 15 stone 6.5lbs. So it’s now officially a stone!

Highest ever weight - well over 20 stone (I’d stopped weighing myself after 20 🫣)
SW - 16 stone 6.5lbs
CW 15 stone 6.5lbs

I have some meals outs this week so will have to choose my food wisely - don’t want the scales to move the wrong way.

Yay! 🙌

Just my thoughts but I think you need to reframe your thinking a bit. It’s that MJ helps with dieting. I’m calorie counting and I cannot believe how much easier MJ is making it. Give it a go!

I agree with this, I was at a fancy brunch yesterday with unlimited starters. DH kept going with the starters but I was just happy with eating modestly. More importantly, I did not feel like I was missing out either.

@Pepperama

Hi so I took 3.75mg on week 4 using my bonus dose. I had limited suppression by day 5/6 each week and decided I wanted a progression to 5mg.
So far I've taken 3 x 2.5, 2 x 3.75 and 1 x 5mg due to take my second 5mg tonight. Definitely feel the suppression on 5mg again no waining by the end of the week and food noise almost gone now.
Having said that I am tracking everything, I know my weight is about me and the way I eat; I have to change that or once MJ is gone I will be back where I started or worse likely.
I have lost 21lb as per the scales this morning, I'm over the moon. Yes MJ is witchcraft but it's not forever. So I echo PP words take the opportunity to focus on diet and how to develop healthy eating habits.

PandasMum · 08/12/2024 10:11

The 2.5 isn’t an official dose it’s a micro dose to help your body get used to it. Some of the surge in hospitalisations is due to people not using this drug in the way intended so no I absolutely wouldn’t recommend you just bypass letting your body adjust and wacking up the dose. Yes lots of people start losing at 2.5 but that isn’t the purpose of the dose. Also learning new habits & ways to look at your nutrition and choices is vital if you’re to maintain so I do this by keeping a diary of calories but it also helps me look at how balanced my choices are.

lovealongbath · 08/12/2024 10:15

Can anyone recommend an app that is preferably free that I can track my progress?

I ordered my 2nd Pen today, I happy with the suppression I am getting with the 2.5mg so sticking with that for another month.

With respect to Christmas, this is a festival that I celebrate. My plan is to delay my pen that week and Inject on 26th in the evening and get back on it. It’s a once a year event, I plan to enjoy it without over indulging and making sure I make the right choices.

Caffeinequeen91 · 08/12/2024 10:17

On the topic of bigger meals at Christmas and other occasions etc. I am very early into this as I’m on W3 but I figure that it doesn’t matter when in a day when eat my calories so I’m not bothering to eat much when no one else is around which means I can eat ‘normal’ meals with my children and socially. Smaller portions and careful food choices with calorie counting but nothing too noticeable for my primary age children to notice. I don’t want them to know about the medication but it is very good for them to see mummy making healthy, balanced food choices at family mealtimes or when we are out for a special occasion.

DarkForces · 08/12/2024 10:17

@lovealongbath I find my fitness pal good. Free version lets you track calories and weight loss mostly by qr codes on food

NearlyNewHip · 08/12/2024 10:25

I have "monitor my weight" recommended in an older thread. Does nothing else (I have syncing etc disabled) but gives you bmi, time percentage, loss percentage and a pretty chart x
For food I use the NHS one, very basic but the library of foods eaten builds up as you enter. I like clear basic things, if they do to much and are too noisy with ads, I lose interest x x

NHS Better health weight loss app you can input your food and calories or just track weight and waist measurement....

I did my 3.75 yesterday and only ate a a protein shake and a couple of helpings of homemade soup and 4 little veggie nugget things, but that was will power rather than suppression. The regained kg hadn’t come back off yet, but reminding myself that even maintaining in December woukd usually be unheard of.
I am being impatient as going on holiday this weekend.

As I decided to do 3.75 instead of 5 I am going to leave my pen here in the fridge as I felt travelling with it to a v hot country, plus reducing dose sizes and wanting the bonus dose later on would be pushing things safety wise and it is safer at home in the fridge. It means that I will jab the day we fly, then go 14 days without. It will be a good test to see how I get on and it financially makes sense and takes away my worries about family finding out either when bags are checked or when we are there. But I will be sad to not feel deprived or lose control over Christmas.

I think such a long gap you’re meant to go back to 2.5 and let your body adjust again afterwards. Hope you have a great time I love the idea of getting out of the cold 🥶

Cantbesure · 08/12/2024 11:00

Thanks @Mounjaropen I'm a LONG way from 8 stone but good to get out of the 10s. I lost a stone last year but seemed to be stuck around 10.7 losing, gaining on a cycle. MJ has definitely helped me through that. Another half stone and I should start to look like I've lost weight I think.

@lovealongbath following from recs on these threads I use Shotsy. It tracks your weight loss and your jabs. And gives an indication of how much MJ is in your system. I weigh and track most days to see the fluctuations. The graph is really useful. For food I use my fitness pal although I'm less consistent with this.

Yes I think 2 weeks or thereabouts is the limit. I ummed and ahhhd and decided whatever I decided would prob be an issue somehow but my kids and parents finding out I am on Mounjaro and/or going straight up to 5 and having hideous side effects would be worse than other options.

LilyRose88 · 08/12/2024 11:25

I tried to get my bonus dose from my 2.5mg pen this morning and failed miserably! I managed to force the pen to turn round to the 'bonus' dose but the pen wouldn't push down. I did then use a syringe from the pack I bought online to remove the final dose but I chickened out of injecting it into me as I couldn't work out how much was in the syringe. I've also never injected myself with a syringe before. Somehow the pen seems so much easier. So I went straight to my new 5mg pen. it was only after I used it that I remembered that I was intending to only go up to 3.75mg for the first week! So today might be interesting.

Pumpkinforever · 08/12/2024 11:27

“my issues are snacks/binge eating in between, portion size of the healthy meals and bread… I love fresh bread!” Exactly @TeenLifeMum that is my list of downfalls too. MJ has stopped all the snacking - bloody miracle!

Week 6 is next week and I definitely would have fallen off the wagon by now with just conventional dieting alone as I would have been so despondent with the results or beating myself up for eating a large pack of something. I feel I (or MJ) has so much more control even at 2.5mg

Had exact same issue. I could just see the spring mechanism but it wouldn’t move the plunger any further. Wonder if they’ve designed out this so called hack now? I’m too chicken to use other types of needles and mess around like that so I’ve resigned myself to forgoing that elusive bonus. And sticking to the plan.

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 08/12/2024 12:52

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences of alcohol on Mounjaro - I had a bit of a rubbish day yesterday so was very ready for a few glasses in the evening. I was noticeably slower at finishing my drinks than I would normally be, but still managed to sink a fair few and didn’t feel any worse than I would have done pre-MJ. I did feel very dehydrated when I got up this morning, which was reflected with a 2lb loss from yesterday that I’m not expecting to stick around now I’ve had several pints of water! It’s nice not to be spending the day planning (obsessing) what takeaway I’m going to have later which normally goes hand in hand with a night out. Instead I’m going to do a roast as a mini test run for Christmas Day.

Congratulations to everyone who’s lost this week, and positive thoughts to those who haven’t / have yet to weigh in.

MounjNewb · 08/12/2024 13:28

Quick question to those who’ve successfully extracted a bonus dose with a separate syringe (which I am attempting tonight). Did the MJ pen plunger smoothly move down as the MJ was drawn out? Just a bit concerned about whether the pen mechanism messes with how easy it is.

So - back down to earth with a big reality check this week! Having lost 10lbs over first three weeks on 2.5mg, this week has stalled. All my own fault - it went a bit like this….

Last Sunday was W3D7 - 4th jab due that night. PILs were over for late lunch and DW cooked one of her amazing roasts. Suppression was almost nil by this time. I went for it - even caught myself kind of rushing to have seconds of potatoes and stuffing because I knew I would be feeling full sooner and wanted to enjoy eating before I felt I couldn’t anymore. That devil on my shoulder was chanting - eat, eat!!!

Jabbed the 4th 2.5mg dose that night. There it was on the scales in the morning - 2lb back up. I was back to where I started by Weds morning but then had pre-booked nights out Thurs and last night. So - zero progress.

It really forced me to reflect on how bad my eating behaviour can be and makes me worry about having to come off MJ at some point. Will be looking very hard at how to maintain a long term supply.

Anyway, being good today and looking forward to going up tonight. Will start at 3.75mg - hoping to get that out of bonus dose (have separate syringes), but also have 5mg and 7.5mg pens in fridge so will top up from the 5mg pen if needed.

I’m reminded now that some personal responsibility is still required, even with the magic Mounjaro!!

Hi MounjNewb I am also concerned that left to my own devices I will struggle to keep the weight off without MJ.

I am looking into providers who offer long term maintenance and thankfully there are a few but is not certain exactly how long they will be happy to prescribe once goal weight/ healthy weight has been achieved. I think I will take it as long as I can afford and as long as they are happy to prescribe.

I know someone who lost a ton of weight on WLI but had to come off for a reasons I won’t name (nothing to do with the meds which they were fine on/ got on well with) and gained it all back.

I really want this to be the last time I lose weight (at least the substantial amount, accepting that small fluctuations up and down are normal)

@JasonTindallsTan You broke the seal on the 15s!!! 💕

I'm about to take my last 2.5 and debating whether to go up to 5 on the next pen or whether to do Xmas on 2.5. Any views?

I’m going to go up to 3.75 for my next jab on Weds and see what that feels like, if suppression is good may stick with that until after Christmas

KentishMama · 08/12/2024 13:50

Pepperama · 07/12/2024 23:42

Coming in to see if someone else is struggling to lose much on 2.5mg. To be fair I’ve not been calorie counting but was hoping it’d be doing a bit more anyway. I’m at the end of week 3 and have only lost about 5lb since I started. Hardly notice the MJ at all, no effects and no side effects. Very tempted to go up to 3.75 or 5 next instead of another week on 2.5 (would basically use a bit of the bonus dose during the fourth injection instead of keeping it for the fifth week). Anyone else fed up with lack of progress and has done this?

I went to 3.75 mg using some of the bonus dose for week 4. Suppression on 2.5 mg had dropped a lot from week 2 to 3, and I decided to increase a bit early because I'm going on holiday next week, and didn't want to risk an increase from 2.5 to 5 mg 48h before going away!

I have to say I'm feeling very uncomfortably full on 3.75 mg so far. So I'm definitely staying there instead of increasing to 5 anytime soon.

NoOneAtTheInn · 08/12/2024 14:10

Hi all hope you are all doing well

I was MIA for a week or so due to work and life chaos.

Week 3 done and didn't lose last week. I only took 1.25mg due to side effects so have gone back to 2.5mg this week.

11lbs down so far although all in first two weeks. Hopefully will be back in the game this week!

How did you go to 3.75? Did you redial after doing your normal dose? I'm due my last 2.5 today but wonder if 5ml is too big a jump.

I injected a normal 2.5 dose first, and then used an insulin needle to access the bonus dose.
0.6 ml is full dose, so I only used 0.3 ml and injected that.

Edited to say you can also do this by counting clicks on a 5 mg pen. I believe 40 clicks are a full dose, so 30 clicks would give you 3.75 mg.

It’s 60 clicks for a full dose so 45 clicks if you want 3.75mg from a 5mg pen.
