Weigh in today. Down 4lbs this week which is the most ever but I'm more pleased that I've hit 14lbs which I think is a stone! Still loads to go though. No one has noticed the loss as I'm so huge to start with but I do think that my clothes are doing up slightly easier.

Supposed to be jab2 of the 5mg today but I'm out tonight and tomorrow eating and drinking and being festive so I might wait until tomorrow night. Not fancied alcohol at all since starting in November so this will be interesting 🍷

@Notadream I’m just coming to the end of week 3 and keep thinking I need to exercise but can’t face the gym (despite paying every month 🙈). It’s basically a charity donation at this point.

I’ve lost 4lbs on week 3 and am feeling nervous about going up to 5mg. My only real side effect is tiredness. I need to be able to function in my job, with the dc and with getting Christmas sorted.

Can you go up to 5 then back down to 2.5 if it’s awful? My sweet tooth is more present than it was but I’m still eating healthily.

I’m going back to 2.5. Everyone is different so do what feels right for you.

SW 16st 4lbs
CW 15st 8lbs

Another 2lbs off this week. I might try and get an extra dose out of the 2.5mg next week, but if it doesn't work then I have the new 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go.

And @LindtCurves good shout on the multiserve popcorn bags - I got my food shop in yesterday and they've been a game changer. I love the stuff anyway but can never be arsed making it from scratch - making it fresh with chilli flakes and dried seaweed rather than salt is delicious, but difficult to gauge amounts of oil use etc. and I always get a hard to scrape burnt bit on the pan.

Yay! 👏

3.75mg has definitely kicked in after 48 hours. I'm glad I didn't go straight to 5 mg and will probably do 3.75 for at least another couple of weeks, over the holidays. Suppression very strong, so I did a very low calorie day as a one-off yesterday as my weight had plateaued a bit. And hey presto, a whole pound lighter this morning. So that's 5 kg in 3 weeks!

Awesome!

Yay @JasonTindallsTan - fabulous news!!

I'm W3D5 and 8lbs down. Tipped into the 9stones today (I'm very very short!). Not been in the 9s since lockdown 1. Feeling more hungry this week. But that's quite nice as I had zero interest in food weeks 1 and 2 which meant I wasn't really eating meals and living on cup a soup, Quorn cocktail sausages and babybel lights. Now I want to eat but getting full more quickly.

Currently wondering about protein or vegan collagen powders.

It's coming up to ordering my new pen time and debating between staying on 2.5 or moving to 5 and maybe trying a 3.75 dose.

Congratulations! I’ve not seen 8st since I was 21 😂

Right, this is crazy. I’ve lost 20lb in 3 weeks now. My first target weight was 175lb and looks like I may reach it within first month?! First week was a 13lb loss but that was obviously water weight.

I stalled about a week ago but looks like I’ve cracked it this week. I seem to respond to quite a bit calorie deficit only, with a base rate of 1,600, 1,400 isn’t doing it for me at all, I need to get under 1,000 cals, which with MJ feels ok. Eat only nutritious, good foods, lots of different fruit and veg, and of course protein and fibre.

My usual exercise is weights but I’ve noticed that cardio is what really has an affect, so have taken up dancing. Makes me happy and really makes me lose.

I feel thirsty all the time at the moment though and water just goes right through me. At one of the dance workouts I finally felt nauseous and dying for a drink, it feels almost dangerous for me to not be near water constantly because of the extreme thirst I feel.

Congratulations on the losses! Not to be a Debbie Downer-and I’m not a Dr, but extreme thirst is associated with diabetes so please get yourself checked out in case the meds are highlighting something.

Weekly weigh in and injection. Second 5ml dose today.
starting BMI 50.4
Week 1 weigh in -14lbs
Week 2 weigh in -9lbs
Week 3 weigh in -5lbs
Week 4 weigh in -3.5lbs
Week 5 weigh in - 7lbs
current BMI 44.3

Unexpected whoosh this week. Am not feeling any different in terms of suppression on 5 compared to 2.5. Could easily binge (which I did in the week) and am using a LOT of will power.

Amazing losses! 👏

Week 2 day 2

I'm down about 8lb which is fantastic so far.

Suppression has been good so far and I’ve not touched alcohol, which is a nice side effect.

I didn’t leave the needle in the extra 5 seconds - will that have affected my dose much?

Congratulations on the loss!

Coming in to see if someone else is struggling to lose much on 2.5mg. To be fair I’ve not been calorie counting but was hoping it’d be doing a bit more anyway. I’m at the end of week 3 and have only lost about 5lb since I started. Hardly notice the MJ at all, no effects and no side effects. Very tempted to go up to 3.75 or 5 next instead of another week on 2.5 (would basically use a bit of the bonus dose during the fourth injection instead of keeping it for the fifth week). Anyone else fed up with lack of progress and has done this?

Personally I'd take it in accordance with the prescription, it's only another week. I wouldn't risk messing around with the dose although I appreciate it may be prescribed differently outside the UK. If you started having bad side effects you wouldn't know if it was the early step up that was the problem, or the medication itself.

DarkForces · 08/12/2024 08:17

@Pepperama 2.5 is the starter dose and just meant to get your body ready for 5 so losing 5lb is impressive. I'd do the final 2.5, forget the bonus dose and move to 5 after this. Don't worry if suppression takes a few days once you move up. Mine took about 3-4 days after taking 5 to really kick in and now it's impressive!

MounjNewb · 08/12/2024 08:30

So - back down to earth with a big reality check this week! Having lost 10lbs over first three weeks on 2.5mg, this week has stalled. All my own fault - it went a bit like this….

Last Sunday was W3D7 - 4th jab due that night. PILs were over for late lunch and DW cooked one of her amazing roasts. Suppression was almost nil by this time. I went for it - even caught myself kind of rushing to have seconds of potatoes and stuffing because I knew I would be feeling full sooner and wanted to enjoy eating before I felt I couldn’t anymore. That devil on my shoulder was chanting - eat, eat!!!

Jabbed the 4th 2.5mg dose that night. There it was on the scales in the morning - 2lb back up. I was back to where I started by Weds morning but then had pre-booked nights out Thurs and last night. So - zero progress.

It really forced me to reflect on how bad my eating behaviour can be and makes me worry about having to come off MJ at some point. Will be looking very hard at how to maintain a long term supply.

Anyway, being good today and looking forward to going up tonight. Will start at 3.75mg - hoping to get that out of bonus dose (have separate syringes), but also have 5mg and 7.5mg pens in fridge so will top up from the 5mg pen if needed.

I’m reminded now that some personal responsibility is still required, even with the magic Mounjaro!!

hi all,
Hit a mini target today - dipped under 100kg!
Had my 7th jab on Friday but a salty dinner saw me holding onto some water yesterday so I weighed again this morning. Very happy.

Although I’ve been on MJ for 6 weeks, I did four weeks with calorie counting and willpower, and have lost 13.8kg in total which is more than I’d thought I’d be able to do by Christmas!
the closest I’ve ever been to my target weight was pre-lockdown when I was 73kg (March 2020) after losing with cal counting and exercise. I was gutted when I started to regain after lockdown and an injury out à stop to my regular exercise. Five years on it was so much harder to lose, but finally with MJ, I’m starting to believe that my target weight is actually an achievable target and not a pipe dream!

Well done everyone and we’ve got this!

Goldleafcat · 08/12/2024 08:48

Weighed myself this morning and I’m 15 stone 6.5lbs. So it’s now officially a stone!

Highest ever weight - well over 20 stone (I’d stopped weighing myself after 20 🫣)
SW - 16 stone 6.5lbs
CW 15 stone 6.5lbs

I have some meals outs this week so will have to choose my food wisely - don’t want the scales to move the wrong way.

Excellent well done! That is a great loss. I’ve nudged under 100kg too and it is such a milestone.

I managed to get to just under 80kg in lockdown (weirdly I managed to lose weight during that awful time). Would love to get back to that weight (which is still not even normal BMI for me, but small steps!)

I look at it as a tool that enables me to actually follow a diet so I’ve had great losses but I’ve calorie counted and planned every meal. With mj I don’t feel hard done by or get swept away with emotional or exhaustion eating.

sadly, eating basically as you were and hoping the jab will magically make that healthy for you isn’t really how it works. Sorry. You do have to make lifestyle changes but hopefully that’ll re train you in portion size and less snacking. Good luck. Onwards on another week.

i would stick to the prescription but do a week calorie counting to understand what your calories are coming from.

This is a very helpful reminder - thank you. It's what I was thinking this week, because although I have had good losses without trying much it's slowed this week and also I don't think the quality of my meals has been brilliant.

I’ve also concluded (non scientifically) that eating veg and lean meat, you get less side effects. The time i get the side effects is when i eat crappy food.

We do eat healthily but my issues are snacks/binge eating in between, portion size of the healthy meals and bread… I love fresh bread!

Just my thoughts but I think you need to reframe your thinking a bit. It’s that MJ helps with dieting. I’m calorie counting and I cannot believe how much easier MJ is making it. Give it a go!
