Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

1000 replies

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

I started on 27th November - when did you two start?

OnTheMJ · 22/12/2024 10:19

@ohmyohmy123 I've heard many stories of mj reducing the desire to drink so hopefully that will kick in for you soon.

I'm eating eggs, meat and fish mostly for protein.

Started 1st December. Your 5mg is bang on 1st Jan isn't it? Will you be taking it then or delaying for the new year? Oh I see @50somethingHRTaddict too. Same question then. 😅 and well done on your loss too.

@OnTheMJ your loss is the same as mine in 3 weeks. It's so nice to have lost some weight before Xmas isn't it.

I'm glad your side effects are minimal. I've not eaten anything too fatty so haven't had any side effects.

I'm due to take my bonus dose on Xmas day....then I'll go up to 5 the week after. I didn't want to stay on the 2.5 as the 5 is meant to be the proper dose so I'll see how that goes.

I love that I still feel hungry without the urge to do anything about it!

I'm not calorie counting but am being so careful with what I consume. I don't eat bread etc.

I have bran flakes every morning and it's stopped me having any bowel issues. I'm finding it hard to eat protein so am having a lot of sweet potato and cottage cheese meals!

Well done, @ohohmyohmy123. I always look out for you as we started on the same day.

I have lost 11.4 lbs to date. I weigh daily, and the scales fluctuate every day, but it keeps me motivated.

I'm definitely noticing an increase in noise but have resisted the urge to succumb to chocolate so far, which is not easy at this time of year

Good for you eating bran flakes...I can't stand them.

Getting enough protein is hard. I make up a protein drink to help and try to eat as much fish as I can, yet I have never hit the recommended amount. The most has been 80% so far

ohmyohmy123 · 22/12/2024 10:29

I'm going to delay this week to Boxing Day and then the 2nd I think - although I might do 1st as it's just another day.

I've been overweight and eating like it's Xmas every day for so long that I don't want food to ruin this year for me. Food is such an evil addiction to have. Mid forties and want to be healthy to be able to play with my grandkids - eventually if I get any haha

PresidentBarklett · 22/12/2024 10:30

Another kg down! Feeling good. I've noticed, since taking the 3.75 on Friday that portions which were about right on the 2.5 are filling me too much. I've eaten then and then felt a little nauseous afterwards. Will experiment with a little less today and see if that changes things. Still no real side effects, although today I have some little burps that taste a little (sorry about this) like omelette. Not the sulphur I'd been led to expect but definitely not normal. Hmm.

ohmyohmy123 · 22/12/2024 10:42

@PresidentBarklett are you taking a probiotic? I started taking one at the start because people mentioned about the burps and touch wood so far I haven't had any. I just got one from Amazon from new leaf.

27th November as well

Slimwannabe · 22/12/2024 10:52

W4 D1, 2.5mg injected in thigh still. Another 3lb off this week, so 12lb total in three weeks. Hoping to have lost a stone by wk5, but it's Christmas, so I'll settle for maintaining or a small gain!

SW: 273lb
CW: 261lb

Good call. I'm not, but I'll give it a go. Thanks.

Well done @PresidentBarklett and @Slimwannabe on your losses. 😊

I also took my first 2.5mg dose on 27 November.
I plan to take a 5th dose from the 2.5mg pen this week then start January on 3.75mg (from a 5mg pen).

Oh, another 27/11 starter 😁
I was hoping to get a bit more than 2.5mg from the 1st pen....maybe I am being too optimistic?
Either way, I think I will go straight to 5mg with the new pen....my maths isn't good enough to work it out the further doses 🤣

Luxecalmeetvolupte · 22/12/2024 12:51

It's the end of week 1 for me today - I've just weighed myself and I've lost HALF A STONE. Half a stone! I'm astounded. I've not really had any side effects but as I got to the end of the week I've noticed appetite returning. Still no desire to eat any crap though which is wondrous. For the first time in about a decade I was able to eat one Celebration from a big tub and not just keep going. Amazing stuff.

SW 16st 6lb
CW 15st 13lb
GW 11st (to begin with)

Second jab will be tonight, hoping that means the strongest suppression will be on Christmas Eve as it was definitely Tue last week. The Christmas and New Year period is a long haul foodwise though so I'm not hugely bothered if I don't eat much on Christmas Day itself - also I'm hosting so nobody much will notice...

Luxecalmeetvolupte · 22/12/2024 12:52

Also I meant to say I've ordered loads of veg this year as I'm hosting my veggie MIL so a different balance won't look out of place on my roast dinner plate.

JunoRoma · 22/12/2024 13:40

@Luxecalmeetvolupte what a flying start!

PresidentBarklett · 22/12/2024 15:35

Thanks @OnTheMJ. Suppression definitely stronger on 3.75. Had fruit and yoghurt at 10am and still not at all hungry. I bought some Slimfast shakes today in anticipation of this, so nay have one of these soon in order to ensure I'm still eating enough calories. Salmon and veg for tea.

MissPobjoysPonies · 22/12/2024 18:00

A quick question, I haven’t started my jab yet as have had a rough week personally (I’ve lost 4lbs but…)

I have always suffered from feeling a bit lightheaded if I don’t eat - is this something that might also happen on M?

Heather1991 · 22/12/2024 18:17

Hi I have just ordered mine and will be starting in January. Just wondering what supplements/vitamins people are taking to help support their journey. Thanks

It might, if your body chooses to respond by killing all appetite. On 2.5 I still got hungry at the appropriate times so not an issue. On 3.75 (I'm going up in small increments to avoid side effects) I'm finding I'm far less likely to get traditional rumbling tummy so I'm looking for that 'empty' feeling instead, which is still there.

Your light-headedness may actually be useful as it'll be your sign that you NEED to eat. Some people don't eat enough at all on MJ as they feel they don't need it, which is obviously extremely unhealthy.

Truth is, there's literally no way of knowing how your hunger will react until you try it! Best thing to do is have regular meals regardless of what you actually physically feel, I think.

Good luck! Best thing I ever did.

Frutter · 22/12/2024 18:18

Glad things are going well for people.

I'm w3D2
SW 89.something kg
Cw 85.1kg
Gw not sure

Today is the first day I have noticed my clothes feeling looser which is amazing. Have eaten a lot more this week as wanting to try to carry on exercising and there are christmas chocolates EVERYWHERE at work!

I'm going to take the bonus dose too as need to save every penny I can! Then may try 3.75mg then 5mg, I don't like the feeling when I feel really full as can barely eat anything so trying to keep in the middle ground without too much suppression.

ohmyohmy123 · 22/12/2024 18:43

Hi heather - I just take a probiotic at the moment as I didn't want any tummy/digestive issues. I need to get some collagen and things but haven't got round to it yet.

Oh I take vitamin d too.

What I have found with this jab is that I'm in the kitchen less...therefore I am forgetting to take my tablets...I must set an alarm or something Xmas Grin

PresidentBarklett · 22/12/2024 18:53

Does anyone know if Voy will allow you to stay on the sane dose rather than moving up with each order? It's a bit early to tell right now, but I feel quite comfortable where I am, so just thinking ahead.

Hi, I'm taking a multivitamin every morning - and after a few days of feeling a bit dizzy ive added in an electrolyte pill in the morning as well. Im not sure if its just my body getting used to the medication or if it is the electrolyte helping but i feel way less faint.

@MissPobjoysPonies I had some dizzy spells when I started, especially after exercise. I wasnt sure if it was low blood pressure, lack of food or electrolytes. But its made me quite regimented about my eating, so i make sure i have breakfast, healthy snack before/after gym, lunch and dinner. And touch wood its been fine since then

MJDecember24 · 22/12/2024 19:06

I’m having breakfast, lunch and dinner regardless of whether I feel hungry. Healthy meals, with fibre and protein a focus. I usually have a lot of snacks in additions to my meals but I’m not anymore.

not had any dizziness, burps, etc yet. I’ve felt pretty good!

NotMeNoNo · 22/12/2024 20:46

I took my first injection yesterday, and I'm noticeably not hungry today. But I think I've caught a cough from a family member at the same time, so am wheezing and coughing. I hope I don't feel this tired all the time!
