Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

So much for having a better quick. Day 5 since my 1.25mgs dose and have had diarrhoea and vomiting this morning.

I think this just isn’t for me. I’m still not eating over 1000 calories daily and don’t have enough energy to exercise.

I’m not taking any more but am planning to use the weight I’ve lost so far as a springboard so hopefully that will be a positive effect.

good luck on your MJ journey ladies ahd gents. X

W2 D1

SW - 90.1 kg
CW - 89.6 kg
GW 65 kg

Have just taken my second injection. Im not down by that much, but I'm under 90kg. So I'm taking that as a win.

Have quite enjoyed my first week, I'm trying to eat healthily and my urge to snack has just miraculously gone. I'm doing couch to 5k at the gym and survived my first 90 seconds of running this morning.

MJDecember24 · 17/12/2024 13:47

I took my first dose last night. I did 1.25mg into my thigh as I’m crippled with piles at the moment and really don’t want to risk constipation.

I had a terrible night sleep which I presume was just anxiety related. Today I feel mildly hungover - a bit disinterested and a mild headache.

I had some muesli for breakfast and just making a bean soup now, which I’ll prob have for lunch and dinner with some chicken shredded into it for extra protein. I’ve been drinking lots of water and had a fibrogel.

took the dogs out for a long walk. I went into the farm shop to get something for the soup. The mince pies etc didn’t really interest me but not really sure if that’s suppression or just the gloomy disinterest that’s hanging over me.

If any Android users are interested in trying the Shotsy app, it's now available in the Play Store.

You can use many of the features for free, including the weight loss graph with the injection doses labelled, and an estimate of the current level of the drug in your body today.

The graph showing how the the level of the drug in your body varies over time is a subscriber-only feature.

JunoRoma · 17/12/2024 15:29

Here is my results graph so far. Not very exciting yet, but it's early days.

Under 100kg today! That was my first goal. Have lost 3.6kg and am 5.5kg off my highest. Feeling so much better. Bras don’t hurt.

JunoRoma · 17/12/2024 15:39

I'm now using three different apps for this.

  1. Libra to record daily weight and show me the overall trend. I might phase this out but finding it helpful at the moment.
  2. MyFitnessPal to log what I eat and check I'm getting enough protein and fibre (also automatically incorporates my exercise from Google Fit).
  3. Shotsy to record doses of Mounjaro taken and estimate current level of Mounjaro in my body.
JunoRoma · 17/12/2024 15:41

@shrinkingthiswinter - well done for getting under 100kg. I'm hoping to join you there very soon.

Bulletbiting25 · 17/12/2024 15:46

May I join you?

i'm starting Mounjaro on the evening of Boxing Day. I cannot start until the 24th due to some recent surgery, and Christmas Day as my first full day is a bit hardcore for me! I'm starting in the evening in the hope that I'll sleep through any very first side effects.

i'm a bit nervous but quite excited too.

OrangeDonald · 17/12/2024 16:19

@JunoRoma is it worth paying the £18 a year for shotsy app? Ive just downloaded it, but no idea if free version is way less good than paid for one

I don't know, I only downloaded the app today, and only have the free version. This does show an estimate of how much Mounjaro is in my system today (dark mode screenshot).

One benefit of the subscription version is the graphs showing how the level of Mounjaro in your system varies over time (I found this example screenshot on Google). Presumably there must be more additional features but I'm not sure what they are.

Hi to everyone joining! It’s great to have a community for this!

@JJDogmum sorry to hear you had such a bad time. Maybe one of the other medicines will suit your system better. Good luck!

@shrinkingthiswinter
thank you.
The side effects on 1.25mgs were much milder and short lived compared to when I was on 2.5mgs.
I tempted to consider trying 0.5mgs - I’ve read online that this has worked for some people….

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 17/12/2024 20:16

Can I scoot on in?

I took my first injection on Sunday, I have a great blinking bruise from it, but the jab didn't hurt.
Due to gallstones I'm planning on very slow and steady and sticking at 2.5 or 5 and that's it if I can. Feeling fab so far.

LouisaPesel · 17/12/2024 21:10

Sorry to hear about the sickness @JJDogmum and wish you luck.

Does anyone happen to know if it matters how much excess skin/fat they have where they inject?

Eg I injected in my tummy this week however I have had skin removal there so I don't have a massive amount of excess skin there whereas I probably have more on my thigh....

I took this approach too, and was fine, if that helps!

I read that it's best to change sites each week. So W1 I did my stomach. Yesterday I did my thing, which I actually found a bit sore. Next week I'll do my upper arm.

saj90 · 17/12/2024 22:37

Thigh not thing!
But I definitely have more fat on my belly so that's maybe why it didn't hurt there.

BigTightropeWalker · 17/12/2024 23:15

@Slimwannabe you could be right about mentally adjusting a bit!

Anyone else due to jab Xmas day....I'm torn whether to wait until Boxing Day or just to stick to it. I'm not really bothered if I can't eat much on the day but my family will notice that and I can't be doing with the questions!

I'll be taking the bonus dose from my 2.5 pen so assuming it won't give me any additional side effects than I'm having now.

Sw 18.1.5
Cw 17.4
Gw 11

WittyLimeBiscuit · 18/12/2024 08:27

Did my first shot on Monday. So far no side effects at all, but also no weight loss. That said, not feeling so hungry and no desire to snack.
Post menopausal with BMI over 35, and don't want to lose too much too quickly, so here for the long haul.

TrinityWaves · 18/12/2024 09:07

Wow, how is it Wednesday again, I record and inject on Wed so I'll be doing it Christmas morning, I suppose.
Injected (W4D1) this morning and I've lost 1.4 lb this week - total 14.8 lb
SW 263.4 lb
CW 248.6
GW 168

I think it's fair to say it'll slow down now loss wise (in the past I have 2 weeks of bigger losses and then slow).

I figure I will just have a moderate day and then jab in the evening before I go to bed. Maybe will have a fairly normal Christmas lunch and then no dinner (normally eat late on Christmas day anyway) and only inject once I can feel my food has been digested.

The worst day to inject would actually be Christmas Eve I think!

I think I'm going to stick with Christmas day, also will be my bonus/5th dose (I've got the syringes ready!)
