Wow that is such an interesting article. I didn’t realise a private Doctor could prescribe MJ if BMI not over 27 with health conditions or BMI 30 without.
i thought when it said microdosing she would be taking 1.25mg or less which I know in USA is more common. However she is taking 2.5mg so not surprised she had such suppression as that’s the dose I have been on most of the time. Even after 8 weeks I am still debating if 3.75mg is too much for me.

I have always eaten 2 meals a day as normally Intermittent Fast 16/8. Though my downfall was evening binges of chocolate and crisps…..
I try to eat 100g of protein and 30g fibre with very little carbs or processed food. I also weight train as terrified of losing muscle mass, which if not eating enough protein and doing weight training is shown in the research will happen. No point being slim if more liable for falls etc as get older.

I’m the uk they cannot. In America they can.

Bluenose1966 · 18/12/2024 09:16

I know. But reading the article it was a Dr in Mayfair who prescribed it to her and she had a MJ pen for 2.5mg. Very strange.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/12/2024 09:31

I've never messed about with doses but I am feeling very tired and very nauseous on 5mg. I'd like to feel better over Christmas. Could I do 2.5 for two weeks then go back up to 5 after the festive period?

I am still on 2.5mg and going to go to 3.75mg if suppression reduces. Don’t see the point of being on 5mg if makes you feel nauseous and tired unless the lower dose isn’t working. As long as we are not taking more than recommended dose don’t see issue taking lower dose if required.

EVK · 18/12/2024 18:30

@lapuf great article and so much along the lines of my thinking. @Bluenose1966 im with you on sticking to the lowest you possibly can and taking slow. The status quo is to continue moving up but there is no need to do this unless you feel you need to in order to stabilise blood sugar and appetite- without causing side effects. I think the future use of this medication will look different and in a way we are already discovering this for ourselves. There can’t be any harm in lowering your dose.

EVK · 18/12/2024 20:19

@rockingbird im so glad you felt confident and good about yourself and that your Christmas do was wonderful.

UtterlyQuackers · 18/12/2024 20:50

I went out for dinner... And had a pudding! First sweet treat I have had for 2 months. Totally unheard of! I was a chocolate fiend.

I have gone over my calories today, but hopefully it won't have too much of an impact?!? 🤞

EVK · 18/12/2024 20:54

No- you’ll be fine and it’s important to enjoy something sweet without guilt every now and then 🎉

Crazydogmumma · 19/12/2024 05:44

Have missed most of this thread- so lovely to catch up with how everyone is doing.
I’m glad other people are also staying on the lowest dose that is effective for them- that is my plan. I have just started 5 after a couple of 2.5 pens and hoping to stay on 5 for as long as I can.
For the first time in a long time I am looking forward to having nice food over Christmas (but in smaller amounts) and feel
confident I won’t out on my usual 10lbs over the holiday period.
This drug is a complete life changer for me!

@Crazydogmummagreat weight loss 🎉 i feel the same about Christmas- I’m looking forward to seeing family and having a lovely time together. I’m hosting and will hopefully enjoy the cooking without feeling awful about eating loads and putting in tons of weight. I’m looking forward to dressing up and feeling good. It’s my birthday today and although I have a horrid cold - I’m so happy to be waking up without my first thought being ‘I need to lose weight’ and my first feelings being those of shame and disappointment! Instead I feel fabulous about the new me! I’m 56 today and haven’t felt this happy with myself for the past 4-5years. It’s liberating and the best gift I could ever receive!

Mincepieinthesky · 19/12/2024 06:21

Happy birthday @EVK hope your day is as fabulous as you feel 🎉

ItsMintUpNorth · 19/12/2024 06:32

lapuf · 19/12/2024 06:36

Losingthetimber · 19/12/2024 06:37

Happy birthday EVK, have an awesome day, wear something lovely, celebrate and feel proud 🍾🎉

letshavetea · 19/12/2024 07:56

@EVK happy birthday and enjoy your day - despite the cold!

Bluenose1966 · 19/12/2024 08:09

Happy birthday @EVK, yes your weight loss is a fab birthday present to yourself. Hope you get over your cold quickly.
I feel so much better in myself as well, haven’t bought many new clothes as had loads of size 12s from years ago, though some still a bit tight. Just nice to look in mirror and not be horrified by my reflection, though admittedly that is only when clothes are on😂.
Currently weigh 10st 7lb and my plan is to to lose another stone, however will be arranging a maintenance plan consultation with Oushk when I am half way there as I know I am going to be on some type of maintenance for years, if not ever as have lost weight before and know despite my best intentions will regain.
My dilemma is how to keep the costs down, considering their £20 a month maintenance plan and maybe a couple of pens a year.

HappyNewt · 19/12/2024 09:48

So, after deliberating about the possible Christmas effect, as I am away for a week, I have just jabbed (Jab no. 13) a day early... and will go back to my normal day next week. I have stayed the same weight over the last week.

10kg down over all, which I am really pleased with. I wasn't looking for total suppression or massive whoosh drops in weight as I feared that would not be sustainable. I had read loads before signing up and part of my concern about starting was the way that a lot of the information available is somewhat anecdotal and specific to the individual contributor.

My intention is to be able to establish new habits and a manageable approach to food, exercise and my overall health and well-being going forward. I have decided to stick with the 5mg as my side effects aren't dramatic and I can still eat..I am just doing it sensibly and I have cut the snacking, all things that I knew before, but just couldn't stick to. Thankfully I hardly drink as I have definitely found that one side effect is that I don't feel great after just one pint of Guinness!!! I will be upping the exercise when I get back as I know that will be key long term on many levels.

Thanks again for all of the contributions and enjoy the next couple of weeks!!

I’ve gone back to 2.5 this week as I could not eat at all with the 5mg nausea. It’s so much better as I’m able to eat healthy protein-rich food again. And have had enough energy to go to the gym.

hoyo12 · 19/12/2024 10:22

Hiya, I’ve just finished a 5mg pen and I’ve ordered a 7.5 after no weight loss in the first week and a half on 5mg. However this week and last week I am back on track with the weight loss, I was wondering if I can order 5mg (Medexpress ). Is it possible to go back a step or do you have to keep increasing doses? Sorry if it’s been asked before or if it’s a silly question, I’m just apprehensive of starting 7.5mg as the 5mg is starting to work.

@EVK wishing you the happiest of birthdays - and hope you won't mind sharing your day with our brand new grand-daughter [originally due on Christmas Day] who arrived safely this morning at 5.44am weighing 6lbs 10oz. A bit battered and bruised after a difficult forceps delivery but Mum, Dad and baby all doing well now. We will be away shortly to make afternoon visiting slot as the new little family are 80 miles away. Can't wait for newborn cuddles!!
