I had my first jab at 7.5mg this week. Yesterday I started doing horrendous sulphur burps. They honestly smell of rotten eggs. Has anyone else experienced this and if you did was there anything that helped?

Lots of people get that, it’s horrible.
Peppermint oil has been mentioned a few times to help.
I bought my capsules on Amazon 🙂

Thanks @Fizzleawayy . I will order some and see if that helps. I don't think I would be able to continue on mounjaro if I can't get a handle on it.

AnneinEdinburgh · 17/12/2024 17:32

I had them but they only lasted for about a week so it could be a passing 'feature' if you are lucky!

UtterlyQuackers · 17/12/2024 17:57

I've been drinking peppermint tea. Really helped me, but my eggy burps have calmed down.

Have been feeling quite queasy this week. Also really tired! Counting down the seconds until the Christmas holidays!!

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 17/12/2024 19:22

Well, 2 days into 2nd week of 7.5 and the side effects are finally hitting. I've had a little bit of nausea and the occasional bout of diarrhea so far, which has been easy to deal with, but today has been awful.

I've just struggled to eat a slice of toast, as I have not eaten all day due to feeling sick, and I feel soooooo cold. I am in three layers, sitting under a blanket with the heating on and I am still shivering!

The toast and tea has, I think, helped with the nausea, but its still the worse I have had and I cannot warm up for the life of me!

I hope this means its working a bit harder, as a bigger loss next week will make it worth it!

How many meals a day are people actually eating?

All 3 still?

2 or 1?

OP posts:
TheChosenTwo · 17/12/2024 23:43

I’m on 2 meals a day which is pretty much what I’ve always done, used to be brunch (11am ish) and then dinner in the evening but with plenty of snacks inbetween. Now it’s more like lunch 1pm and dinner later on with no snacks as just not thinking about them.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 17/12/2024 23:47

I haven't lost anything for the last 2 weeks. It might be "in the bank" though and come off suddenly in the morning.. please!! Suppression is still good. No side effects other than slowed down digestion.. I'm due to take week 6 of 5mg tomorrow.

rockingbird · 18/12/2024 06:13

Morning all.! I've had a cheeky mid week weigh in.. 9.11 😮 I haven't been this weight since Jan 2020 according to MFP!! It's the works Christmas Lunch today so I'm heading to London. Last time I see my work colleagues was at the summer party and the awful photos of that day made me really think about my weight. Feeling really confident this morning knowing my dress fits and my face is no longer round and puffy. Have a wonderful Wednesday all xx

I'm having two as managing fine on just a coffee until lunch, also only having carbs at one of those meals.

Yes, I was listening to this too, it was interesting - Im an avid radio 4 listener!! I was particularly interested in the conversations around malnutrition and MJ use! Got to make sure we eat well - cover those food groups and make every calorie a nutritional one!!
I'm so glad you’re ok @recklessgran - was worried there ! Having a Christmas break sounds sensible and then starting small

  • We all need to be mindful about how strong this medication is. I’m thinking a lot about being on a dose that works rather than thinking about continually upping the dose - it’s good not to have full suppression as that makes it harder to eat sensible quantities of good food. Eat too little and we get cold and metabolism adjusts by slowing down to conserve fat and try to hold
onto what the brain thinks is a safe level of fat! Also I feel it helps with future proofing weight loss. Some ‘food noise’ is ok and manageable- focus on changing habits and lifestyle and eating well. Remembering the all important information about plateauing, how long that can last and how long it takes to reset your new normal weight. It’s ok to have weeks where you are not losing - it’s a natural part of the process. Happy Wednesday all 🩷
NearlyNewHip · 18/12/2024 06:25

I have 3 meals if I want and 2 if I don't. I always take a portion of Müsli to work and eat it if I fancy or feel hungry. If not, I'll eat lunch and then dinner at home.

@rockingbird Have a lovely lunch and smile for the camera. You can do a side by side of the photos when you get home x x x

EVK · 18/12/2024 06:30

PS. I’m plateauing for sure - keep dancing between losing a pound and then putting it back on - now I have to hold my nerve. I’m doing everything right - definitely don’t need to up my dose as I’m getting plenty of suppression - I just need to know it’s a plateau ,
it may continue for some time and I just need to keep doing what I’m doing. My brain is trying to save me from starvation 🤣

recklessgran · 18/12/2024 06:33

Morning all. Just to let you know that I'm back to normal and feeling fine now - thanks for all the concern. MedEx think it must be something I ate that caused the problem but I haven't been able to work out what it might have been. I'm taking a break until after Christmas and will try again. I'll keep weighing and reporting back here until then. I'm just a bit concerned as I'm going on holiday 5tyh January for a week too. I think I'll start again on Boxing Day and see how it goes.

Oh well done! That’s a fab feeling and a great day for it to when seeing everyone,

. I had a cheeky mid week weigh in and I’m 13.0.5. My goal was to see 12 something by new year, and I’m thinking just maybe I can do it. I know it’s still basically 13 stone, but the mental high of seeing the lower stone number is something . So I get how delighted you are. Result!

i also hear you on the round puffy face . I hated pics getting taken and couldn’t work out why my face looked like it did, and yeah it was because it was round and puffy. I guess it still is to a certain extent, I’ve still got two and a half stone to lose, but I’ve cheekbones again.

and two and a half stone to lose, whilst a big number, is very different to five…😳

2-3. The manufacturers recommend eating small and often, and doing so clean.

late brekkie, generally fruit. Prunes, figs, mango, cranberries etc , I prefer it dried to fresh.
lunch, usually a Huel black as it’s 35g of protein and protein is critical. For muscle, hair and also keeping you full.
dinner, whatever everyone else is having, without the carbs, so meat or fish and veg or salad, I dint use dressings, or eat the fat.

snacks, if I feel peckish I eat some dried fruit or some chicken slices or something,

plus one coffee a day, I always drink it black, as I am not tolerant of milk and can’t stand it, but it’s a strong one, as we have a bean to cup machine, and in a large mug.

and 3-4 litres of water.

I've taken 7 weeks of 5mg and I'm finally starting to feel hungrier, after feeling full all week. I have a 7.5mg pen so going to move up to it slowly to limit side effects by counting clicks also so I'm not too full for Xmas next week. Maybe do 6mg then 7mg

lapuf · 18/12/2024 07:52

Finally had a mini whoosh of 1.2lbs overnight (I verbally threatened my scales this morning and they responded Grin)
Takes me to 10st 8.8 which is 51% of my way to my 9st 7 goal, 16.2lbs down

I eat 3 meals every day except after my night shifts so Sunday and Monday I'll often only eat 2 meals.

I aim for 500kcal per meal so a total of 1500kcal a day, I try to eat 100g protein and 30g fibre

Losingthetimber · 18/12/2024 08:34

I think also a key part of this medicine, is stablising blood sugars. Not just suppression. They are very different things.

unstable blood sugars have many negative impacts, from tired, irritable, anxious, low mood, etc and also makes us hungrier faster. And we crave sugar.

hence why finding the optimal dose is really Important. Not just to suppress our appetites, but to also ensure our blood sugar is stable. As I think many of us who became obese had unstable blood sugars. People who have that consume something like 300 calories more a day than those who don’t.

LumionaMoonsplash · 18/12/2024 08:34

Not much movement on the scales this week despite very small meals which is annoying but I do have some meals out / Xmas Do ahead so saving my calorie intake for then. I did have a Chinese last night DDs birthday and really enjoyed my small portion of it. I ended up having a third of the soup, a bit of the meat and a few chips. Other than the chips I stayed away from deep fried stuff and didn't have any cake and felt OK.
I'm considering moving my jab day from Friday to Sunday this week and onwards. I've not enjoyed the nausea on Friday and Saturday at all.

Wow that is such an interesting article. I didn’t realise a private Doctor could prescribe MJ if BMI not over 27 with health conditions or BMI 30 without.
i thought when it said microdosing she would be taking 1.25mg or less which I know in USA is more common. However she is taking 2.5mg so not surprised she had such suppression as that’s the dose I have been on most of the time. Even after 8 weeks I am still debating if 3.75mg is too much for me.

I have always eaten 2 meals a day as normally Intermittent Fast 16/8. Though my downfall was evening binges of chocolate and crisps…..
I try to eat 100g of protein and 30g fibre with very little carbs or processed food. I also weight train as terrified of losing muscle mass, which if not eating enough protein and doing weight training is shown in the research will happen. No point being slim if more liable for falls etc as get older.
