My appetite is still pretty much suppressed on 2.5 mg and I am still losing weight but I have 5mg pens in case I need an increase as little difference in price. Will increase to 3.75mg before going to 5mg though as have had intermittent diarrhoea and worry about side effects. I have been loosely following Fast 800, though probably eating about 1000 calories. I eat high protein, high fibre with very very little ultra processed food. Think I have had 3 chocolate bars and one packet of crisps in the 8 weeks which I would sometimes have had in a day sometimes.
Have lost 23lb in 8 weeks so conscious don’t want to lose weight any quicker, so sticking with the dose that works for me.

lapuf · 15/12/2024 10:40

My appetite is voracious today Blush I've just had a chunk of cheese to stave off until lunchtime. Going to do 3.75 tonight for ninth jab.
I saw a flicker of a movement on the scales earlier (so weird! But it tends to foresee a drop!)

letshavetea · 15/12/2024 10:52

@igivein - I think you’ve done amazingly well. You will slow down as you lose weight. I’m a slow loser and I’m not seeing a loss this week either (weigh in day tomorrow). Still so glad I’m on MJ! @rockingbird congrats on your impressive loss!
I started my first 5mg pen last week at 3.75 mg. My dilemma is whether to inject the full 5mg tonight or to have another 3.75 mg. I’m still experiencing decent suppression and haven’t had any side effects this week. It’s a tricky time of the year isn’t it? Next week I have some more Christmas events and don’t want to feel poorly.

That’s not necessarily wrong though, as 5mg maybe the right dose for you.

im also wary of some “prescribers” though, as often it’s a customer service person responding, who has little to no training and isn’t medically qualified. Rather than any medically qualified person.

I swear though, social media will end up killing someone one day, due to th4 amount of shite and misinformation that is posted. Mounjaro stopping working being a key one. It’s bullshit and defies any form of logic, it simply stops working if you’re on too low a dose and the wrong one for you.

the right one is the one below the one you can’t tolerate, and the doses are 5 10 and 15, the .5 doses are just prep to get you there.

the other nonsense folks post is that they didn’t test the .5 doses so don’t know. Which if you think about it, the decades of testing, the stringent requirements, is utterly nonsensical. The thought any regulatory body would approve and licence drugs where the manufacturer didn’t bother their arse testing different levels is crazy, simply it was done in earlier trials. Of course they know exactly what the dose is.

My prescriber is a pharmacist. I do pay over the odds with one of the main chemists in order to have monthly consultations with a pharmacist. But my hrt experience has shown me that pharmacists and GPs aren’t always up to date or follow national guidelines. I generally trust the medical world, and take professional advice over social media advice (!) but I also like to do a bit of reading so I’m making decent decisions for myself.

Then don’t question your decision, don’t worry, it is likely the right one for you, and you’re not staying on it longer due to social media idiocy . Many are though, sadly.

I’ve not posted for a bit - life gets in the way…

I’ve moved my injection day to Sunday, over the last 3 weeks, as I feel it will accommodate Christmas a little better.

I’ve discovered something that works (for me) to stop burps and queasiness- Peppersmith’s peppermints. Bloody expensive, but made with lots of proper peppermint and xylitol, which is a sugar which doesn’t swing the sugar in blood. Fairly minimal on the calorie count. Even the downside is a win for me as “excessive consumption may produce laxative effects”. 😌

todays figures 9 weeks (less 2 days as jab day move) 10th jab.

SW 201.6
CW 179.2
loss 22.4lbs
35.5 bmi to 31.7
11% of starting bodyweight and 36% of my overall goal! And I almost didn’t start, because there’s no point until after Christmas…🤦🏼‍♀️

@igivein That’s a really impressive loss. Even if you plateau until after Christmas, it’s brilliant. You must have worked so hard to loose as much as you have - and must be in the fast losers group. Pat yourself on the back.

@rockingbird That’s two stone off 🎉. I suspect you may be having an early birthday present.

@Losingthetimber thanks for that, it makes a lot of sense. I went down from 5.0 to 3.75 for a couple of weeks and am edging up to 5.0 again. However, the drop back was because the shift from 2.5 to 5.0 wasn’t a pleasant one - I nearly quit. I’ve just gone up to 4.0 and plan to go to 5.0 in the New Year- smaller jumps seems to work for me as I seem to be ok if the increase is gradual, so will probably use a gradual method when I’ve been on 5.0 for 4 weeks. I suppose the guidelines work for most, but tolerances are so very individual.

Hi all,
Is it me or does anyone else find their handspan isn’t big enough to jab with one hand? I find when I try I can’t ‘pinch’ the injection site as suggested. I’ve stopped jabbing my tummy because no matter how careful I bruise at the injection site.
I’m much better off alternating the front thigh without pinching the injection room area!
Anyway, I’m half way through my 5mg pen, 1st 5lbs down in 6 weeks which I’ really chuffed with.
Using the bonus 5mg to get me through to the end of the year and starting 7.5mg in January 👍🏻

I've just ordered my 3rd 2.5mg pen and losing an average of 2lb per week and really happy with that, suppression is still high and the food noise has disappeared so I'll be sticking at 2.5mg until I see the supression waining.

Tohaveandtohold · 15/12/2024 17:33

@Losingthetimber , what you’ve written is quite informative. When I had my first pen, my prescriber sent a message to talk about moving up doses but that I don’t need to if a current dose is working so I’ve bought the 5mg pen twice as it’s still working, both with suppression and weight loss so that was a good decision in a way. I’ll be ordering the 7.5 next hopefully.
@rockingbird , I feel you’ll be getting a very early Christmas present. You’re so close to goal and it’s so good to read about that it’s not unachievable after all.
Well done everyone, it’s always nice checking in

Not had a weird taste but my mouth goes dry almost immediately.

lapuf · 15/12/2024 21:53

Hmm mine might be a dryness rather than funny taste! Swigging the water here!

Losingthetimber · 15/12/2024 22:16

Welll I’ve done a clothes clear out today. I’m ashamed to say, 6 black sacks bulging full. All sorted for charity shop and recycle.

if wasn’t really big clothes or anything like that, more I couldn’t find anything in my wardrobes they were so full, I’d clothes that were donkeys old, clothes that I’d not worn for years and wouldn’t again as their day is done, clothes that were knackered with holes in, or washed out and tired. I’m a clothes hoarder, sigh, everything was crammed in and a mess.

so I just did it, my wardrobes are lovely and tidy now, and I can find things, and I like everything in there, even though some still don’t fit me again yet, and some will be too big soon enough.

I splurged and ordered some lovely casual tops from Reiss a couple of days ago, all in small or medium as they are stretchy, so will be fine when I am at target, and they really are lovely, I’ve not been buying myself anything for a long time as I was so fat. Getting dressed was about comfort , what fit, and what hid the fat as much as possible, which of course nothing did.

im going to attempt to wear something nice. Daily. Even when it’s just a nice casual top, and start taking some pride in my appearance, as I’m fairly sure slobbing around in leggings ans baggy jumper /t shirt really doesn’t help matters,. 😳

Yep I do, lasts a few days for me but does fade through the week. I also get a dry mouth which also improves through the week.

Yes! I have a very odd taste and dryness post jab. Last a day or two. Seems more prevalent this week on 3.75mg

igivein · 16/12/2024 07:22

Well done @Losingthetimber I need to throw things out too, but I’m keeping my largest ever pair of jeans to serve as a reminder and a warning.
I’ve noticed I want to dress up a bit more as well, and I’ve got more choice now in what to wear, which I’m really enjoying

NearlyNewHip · 16/12/2024 07:31

Jealous your wardrobes are done @Losingthetimber my clearout is on the to do list for the few days between christmas and new year. Sooo many clothes that were bought because they fit or would hide this or that bit, rather than because I really like them x

Losingthetimber · 16/12/2024 07:47

@igivein @NearlyNewHip , it was a long long overdue job to be honest.😳 Felt quite good this morning though, and I’m wearing one of my new jumpers that I got for half price 😃

on a serious note, as much as for many of us, this journey is primarily about health, our appearance does change significantly as we lose weight.

so I think starting to take pride in our appearance, and how we dress, is part of that journey, if we feel good about our selves day to day, it helps us along the way. Plus , you know , if dressing nicely makes us feel good, then we should take every win we can, I guess we all spent too long feeling shit about ourselves. I know I did,

letshavetea · 16/12/2024 08:09

@Losingthetimber I’m enjoying the discussion about taking pride in our appearance as well as losing weight for health (which is obviously the most important thing). I do love clothes but like everyone else I’ve been buying to skim over the fat. I have things in so many sizes and can’t wait to have a good wardrobe clear out. Nowhere near that yet I’m afraid.

I’m such a slow loser but have lost 3/4 lb this week. So I’m now 12 stone 2 pounds with another 23 pounds (to interim goal) to go. So that’s 8 and 3/4 pounds lost in 11 weeks with a two week holiday. Before MJ I’d have given up! I’d realsiistically (for me) like to see an 11 on the scales for the end of December.

Took jab 12 yesterday evening. Second 3.75 mg. I may stay on 3.75 for the Christmas week as well as I don’t want side effects over Christmas!
