@lapuf what book are you reading ?

@HansHolbein hope you’ll be back on soon after the storm! Some great weight loss 🎉

WafflingDreamer · 11/12/2024 18:43

Does anyone else find themselves really dry after injection day?

I drink a lot generally around 5-6L (this was advised by a neurologist as I have a problem with the fluid around my brain). I drop it a bit when I work as I work in a job where I need someone to directly cover me so I can go to the bathroom so normally aim for about 3L at work. Since moving up to 5mg last monday I keep waking up with a dry mouth and really dry lips.

@MissMarvelMum
That article on plateaus was so useful, I kind of knew this but reading it in black and white, reminding myself about the role of gherlin (sp.?) and how our MBR slows down to compensate for weight loss really helps. It emphasises the importance of building positive habits and how exercise of both strength and HIIT types is so important to mitigate and help reset our bodies to the new normal. I can see why MJ is advised for the long run - up to two years because that’s how long our bodies take to adjust to a new weight- so once we reach ‘goal’ weight - that’s when the real ‘work’ begins - helping our bodies to readjust to a new baseline! Our plateaus are a good sign, our feeling cold is an indication that we are plateauing and our bodies are lowering temperatures to try and conserve fat! Keep going ladies - we have to help ourselves by being patient and understanding that this is a long marathon not a sprint to the goal weight 👍🙌🏻🎉💃🏻

How interesting. I too am suffering with being cold and also on a bit of a plateau at approx 10% body weight lost. It makes so much sense my body is reacting to the weight loss by trying to reset. Typically this is the time I would have chucked in the towel by now and eaten my weight in mince pies. Now I know better. Keep going even through a plateau as my body is working it all out for me

MontyJinks · 11/12/2024 20:06

@WafflingDreamer Yes! Despite drinking plenty I also have an extremely dry mouth on injection day/day after.

Reading about the 10% bodyweight was interesting, I've just reached that and had stalled for 3 weeks, just had a nice whoosh though - 3lbs off so far this week.

Hands and feet absolutely FREEZING all the time, I've got got chilblains on two of my toes 🙄

Still worth it though, onwards and downwards everyone!

recklessgran · 11/12/2024 20:16

@WafflingDreamer yes, I have this problem too which I'm putting down to dehydration even though I drink loads. I have a list of steps I'm taking before my next jab on Friday to try to work out why I'm completely floored every time. I'm only on 2,5mgs as I've never had the nerve to increase my dose due to the side effects. In fact I'm thinking of trying 2mgs this time to see if I can stay upright!
My measures for jab day are going to be;
Eat some complex carbs on jab day and the day before - I'm normally keto [ish] to see if this alleviates the exhaustion that envelopes me within 4 hours of jab and lasts for at least the next 24 hours..
Drink a litre of water before bed on jab day to hopefully do away with the headache I get which I'm putting down to dehydration.
Take B12 spray daily - I don't think I'm low but hoping it will help with energy.
Have dextrose sweets handy and suck those.
Will report back at the weekend once I've seen how that goes.

The Andrew Jenkinson ones on obesogenics (think it's called!)
Lots of theories on set points and UPFs Smile
I cut out wheat and most sugar last year and lost about 11lbs following his recommended way of eating as can't be arsed calorie counting, so I'm largely doing that again as a sequel weight loss plan this time, albeit with purchased willpower Wink

I had a nsv tonight, my MIL said I was doing well with my running and looked great. So pleased!

FuckOffGerms · 11/12/2024 22:18

I’ve just done injection number 10 this evening. I did 30 clicks from a 5mg pen and gone back down to 2.5mg after three bouts of horrendous diarrhoea and sickness over the last few weeks.

I’m hoping the lower dose will ease the side effects in the run up to Christmas, and that I can continue. Otherwise I’ll probably stop taking it and have to use will power instead.

I’m 20lbs down in total, with another 10-15lbs to go before I’m at a “healthy weight” BMI.

You4coffee · 11/12/2024 23:30

Rejoining the thread - posted when I first started possibly under a different name...

The info re plateauing is really interesting. I'm absolutely at that point as well. Lost 8 kilos quickly and easily but barely anything in the last week or two.

I've took my first 7.5 jab on Monday and been really suffering with acid reflux since then (having had no other side effects in the last 6 weeks). Anyone else found this? Will it settle down or should I invest in some gaviscon??

Sunblocker · 12/12/2024 06:06

Thank you for the article on plateaus. Ive std for a fortnight since starting 7.5mg. I was losing 3lb a week so had been worried. However, as I’ve lost 10% of my body weight, it makes sense. No change in my diet at all but my sleep has been rubbish, so maybe that’s a factor too. Onwards and downwards!

Mincepieinthesky · 12/12/2024 06:44

HansHolbein · 11/12/2024 15:05

Helloooooo.. well, after the storm at the weekend we’ve been without WiFi since Saturday morning. We live in the arse end of nowhere so we barely get 4G/5G either. I’ve managed to contort myself into a tiny corner of the bathroom to write this.. who knows if it will post! Very annoying.

Weekly update from me

3.5lb down.

SW 16st 2.7lb
CW 14st 2.3lbs

Did my first 7.5 on Monday. That was my 9th injection.

The suppression yesterday was unbelievable. I woke up with a raging headache this morning so had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. First time I’ve had bread in over a month.

I’m freezing cold. Jeez Louise. Ugg boots surgically attached to my feet. Hands like ice!

Also agree with other posters that the first couple of days after injecting I’m very tired and struggling to find motivation. Not sure whether that is the medicine or eating less or winter? Not sure.

Love reading everyone’s updates.

@Mincepieinthesky Hope you’re ok.

I’m good thank you ☺️ just back from holiday, was nice to feel warmth - though now colder than ever and also living in uggs!
Well done on your loss, amazing 👏🏼 hope your WiFi is sorted soon too x

I had acid reflux for the first time a few days after starting 7.5mg, found some gaviscon squirreled away, it took two to calm it down and I haven’t had it since so hopefully it was just a one off for me. I think I’d reacted to a warm mince pie, it’s the first time I’d eaten anything like that. Had you eaten anything that could have sparked it off?

lapuf · 12/12/2024 07:48

Mid week weigh in for me and still STS, swore at my scales Grin
I want a whoosh!
I am eating such nutritious, high quality food though that I feel very healthy in myself so that's something. I guess I gained it over three years so it will take longer than three months to come off

TheChosenTwo · 12/12/2024 13:58

Suppression is so weird for me, it seems to be strong enough to totally knock my appetite away for 2 weeks and then it vanishes for the next 2 weeks! I’m due my 8th and final 5mg shot this weekend and will be reordering 7.5 - I just want to find my golden dose that keeps me in the middle long term!

Fizzleawayy · 12/12/2024 19:31

Just catching up on the post.

@HansHolbein well done on 3.5lbs down this week. How is 7.5mg going still? I’m going to do a second pen of 5mg as so far so good.

@JustMoved123 1 stone down is amazing! I think we all have weeks where we stay the same or lose a very minimal amount. It will be moving along soon again.

@WafflingDreamer Can I just say when I read the first sentence of your post and you asked if anyone has been feeling dry, I thought you were referring to vagina dryness 😂🫣🫠

@Sunblocker hopefully things get moving soon, well done on the 10%. A great achievement!

@recklessgran I hope the next dose doesn’t wipe you out! It really seems to hit you hard.

@You4coffee well done on the Loss. how are you finding 7.5mg? Hope it’s treating you well.

@lapuf I’m praying you get a whoosh!

@TheChosenTwo I swear suppression also has something to do with our hormones, a few days a month I still think about food a lot but it’s linked to my period. MJ seems to still be able to take the edge off though so I can still behave

OP posts:
TheChosenTwo · 12/12/2024 21:03

@Fizzleawayy my hormones are totally out of whack with my PCOS, I’m hoping my periods start becoming a little more regular with the weight loss.

recklessgran · 13/12/2024 06:28

Morning all it's my jab and weigh day.
SW 15st 7lbs
CW 14st 9.5lbs
I've lost another 2 lbs this week making a total of 11.5lbs so far. I'm really happy with that especially as I'm a slow loser. It's amazing how life changing the lack of food noise is.I'd set myself the goal of a stone off by January 5th when I go to the Canaries again so hopefully I'll make that allowing for a bit of indulgence at Christmas. Hoping to enjoy a mince pie, a piece of Christmas cake and maybe a sausage roll!
I'm doing my jab prep - extra water, eating some complex carbs alongside high protein today and will jab tonight and see if it makes any difference to my side effects. Fingers crossed. Still on 2.5mgs for week 9.
Hope everyone is O.K. and has a great weekend.

EVK · 13/12/2024 07:03

@recklessgran - the jab prep sounds sensible - making sure you have steady blood sugar will hopefully alleviate a lot of your side effects- I really hope so. So glad you’ve had a good loss this week, 2lbs is great - I think I average about 1lb a week following a more rapid loss at the beginning of the MJ journey. Saw Jules Holland last night and didn’t have time to eat before going! Ended up with McDonalds chips (glamorous!) followed by a glass of wine in the venue - thankfully I feel ok today - one glass after about 9 weeks of no drinking was enough!! Weigh day for me tomorrow but I think I’m plateauing.
Happy Friday everyone-

lapuf · 13/12/2024 07:11

Thanks for the whoosh wishes Fizzle, no luck today but hopefully by weigh day on Monday!
Any plateau escape tips?
Lots of people talk about fluid intake, how does this help weight loss? Is it to fill you up or flush everything through?

letshavetea · 13/12/2024 07:12

@recklessgran that’s a great loss! Fingers crossed for you with side effects. I think the prep you’re making will hopefully help.
@EVK - did you like Jools Holland - saw him last year and was a bit underwhelmed!

NearlyNewHip · 13/12/2024 07:18

Normal weight day is tomorrow morning but....works Christmas do tonight so I'm cheating and weighing this morning (will weigh again in the morning and see what the damage is after a 3 course xmas dinner and booze). Usually have my jab on a Friday night but will delay until the morning. Its my bonus dose and if the twist doesn't work, don't think I'll be able to handle the syringe method drunk as a skunk (free bar). Week 9 (5 x 2.5 and 4 x 5mg) and I've lost 2.5 lbs, 17.5 in total.
Will decide in the morning which weigh in is the "official" one x

igivein · 13/12/2024 07:23

Feeling a bit down today. I’ve had a couple of events this week that involved eating. I was congratulating myself on how I hadn’t overdone it, until I got on the scales this morning and I’ve put on a pound - and I’ve got another meal out tonight 😩.
This week’s going to be a write-off. I was one pound off a three stone loss and was determined to hit it this week, but it’s not happening is it?
I’m so scared of falling off the wagon and undoing all the good work.
Please tell me to give my head a shake - I’ll still be going out tonight in a dress that I hadn’t a hope of fitting into at the start of October …

letshavetea · 13/12/2024 07:30

@igivein i know exactly what you mean I’m up half a pound this week so far and I know it’s due to pre Christmas events. Two so far this week. I’m out tonight and tomorrow night as well! You’ll look fab in your dress and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. We’re in this for the long haul and I really don’t think we want to not have a social life over the Christmas period!

igivein · 13/12/2024 07:41

Thanks @letshavetea hope you enjoy your nights out without too much damage being done.
I think it’s hit me because I’d sort of convinced myself that I wouldn’t be able to overeat on MJ, and it turns out that I can …
oh well, onwards and upwards - but hopefully not much upwards!
There’s always next week.

lickycat · 13/12/2024 08:23

@igivein I wouldn’t let a pound increase let you believe that you’ve put on more fat. A pound is well within daily fluctuations and nothing to do with storing fat. If you’ve been drinking, it could be water retention following dehydration. If you know you hadn’t overdone it, you need to trust yourself, not the scales.

Someone told me an analogy once that stuck with me - in relation to my self sabotage following any blip. If you were a car, and you’d punctured a tyre, you wouldn’t throw your hands up in the air and slash the other 3 tyres. You’d change that 1 tyre. Just like when eating healthily gets interrupted; don’t throw your hands up and go back to old habits. Change your tyre and keep driving. This process isn’t going to be messed up by one (or two) night out. And we all need to live our lives in between too. Look after yourself today and set some intentions for enjoying tonight.

Lots of people talk about fluid intake, how does this help weight loss? Is it to fill you up or flush everything through?

Do not take this as 100% fact but years ago when I used to do weight watchers club and I was on a different forum they all tried to get out of a plateau by having a higher calorie couple of days, to trick your body and thinking you are not on a diet anymore. It seemed to work.

With the old Weight Watchers system that I used to do you used to get so many daily points (depending on your weight) but then you could have 49 extra points on top of those throughout the week and you could eat them however you wanted, so you can have them all on one day or split evenly, so you have more food each day. A lot of people used to use those and rejig all their points around to do some high calorie days

I don’t mean over eat by the way! For example if you eat 1500 calories a day,

I would have a couple where you eat 2500 each day and then a couple at 500 (so you still eat the same amount of calories over the week but distributed differently) and then back to normal.

I still do the Weight Watchers pro point method loosely, they haven’t done it in class for years though so I never go as I hate their new system, it’s too much like slimming world which I never liked.

i’m not sure if I explained that very well, but hopefully you get what I mean.
