I don’t know what to eat today… I just keep looking in the cupboards and think ‘meh’… don’t want any of that.

I had a protein cookie for breakfast (which was shit😂 but I had to eat it as I bought it)

Do you drink a very large glass of water with the psyllium? I drink a litre with it. As psyllium can do one of two things, not enough water with it and it bungs you up, like taking Imodium. And with water, it keeps you regular.

I drink 2.5 to 3 litres a day, but not necessarily a large amount when taking the psyllium, so thanks, I’ll give that a go 😊

I just had half a tin of beans on a slice of toast.. was ok.... not great, but it will do lol

TheChosenTwo · 10/12/2024 14:30

Just pondering what to eat myself. Not sure I’m hungry but I need to have something - I’m going out tonight but not for food, I just don’t know what I fancy. Beans on a slice of granary might do it, I’ve not really eaten bread for ages!

Fizzleawayy · 10/12/2024 15:21

I ended up having 2 warburtons crumpets with a few raspberries & blueberries on the side.

We won’t be hitting any protein goals around here today 😅

That’s good intake. But yes needs ro be with the psyllium, as it does have the opposite effect if you don’t…

I sit and drink a litre bottle in the morning with it. And then have my morning coffee a bit later. I then have a handful of dried prunes and figs for breakfast mid morning. Touch wood no constipation issues so far.

my daughter has ibs and she takes it without water, and it has cleared her ibs up. So it was her who warned me I had to make sure I drunk a good amount or I’d have a problem,

Week 7 5mg
SW 19 stone
CW 17.5 stone
GW 12 stone

I am cold like everyone and constipated ditto. Trying to bring myself to much on those hairy ball sacks ;-)

I find I get low blood sugar, get cold and grumpy and normally my son tells me to eat something, which is a real novelty.

I read an interesting article which was about research into whether advice on needing to change food and exercise a lot is still needed with MJ and Ozempic. They had run a trial with people eating normally and doing as much exercise as they had before, and just reducing what they eat and maybe fancying different things on the drugs, versus folk who did the whole diet and exercise and drugs. They found very little difference in the weight lost. They therefore thought that longer term advice on weight loss would change. Not that we shouldn't be eating healthily and doing the necessary exercise to make us fit, happy and healthy.

I started October 3rd and had a 2/3 week stall but today I’m 2lb down so hoping that’s me moving in the correct way again! Someone linked something (maybe another thread) saying once you lose 10% of your weight, your body ‘resets’ itself and it can take a few weeks to do before you can start losing again. I had lost 11% so almost bang on. Hoping I’m over the stall and keep losing lbs! I’ve lost 24lbs since I started 😊

That's so interesting as my 3 week stall was around that period of time too

Fizzleawayy · 10/12/2024 19:26

Scrolling tik tok and this come up on my feed…. And it just reminded me of myself in the bath😂

@EVK I've ordered Better You B12 apricot flavoured spray from Amazon so I'll see how that goes - also hoping for better sleep with that. Incidentally it was radio that killed my thyroid gland and wrecked my ability to sleep after my onc. having concerns about BC spreading up to my clavicle..........so grateful to be here 6 years down the line!
Yes, I think you're right about low blood sugar being responsible for wiping me out. I'm really a carb avoider and mainly eating keto fashion apart from the odd slice of toast.

Bless you, the BC and consequent side effects of treatment are the gifts that just keep giving but like you it’s fabulous we’ve been there are are still here. I’m 8years post HER2 which is a type that likes to come back so had herceptin for a year (brilliant drug but hard on the body too!) - incredible treat on NHS - herceptin is incredibly expensive but really makes the difference for this type of cancer and recurrence gives us so much better odds. Apparently once I get to 10 years I will be as at risk as the general population in having another breast cancer.
I’m sorry radio messed you up (chemo is horrid but radio no walk in the park either ) but as you say it stopped the spread and you’re here. 🩷

I started weight gain during chemo - (thought at least I might get skinny!) but no- all the steroids meant I was hungry all time and too tired to do any exercise! Piled it on!

Just wanted to say I’m glad you both survived the dreaded C, it’s a terrible disease.

Long may the big C stay away. 🤍

Thank you 🩷

EVK · 11/12/2024 06:24

That was a most excellent read, thank you. It really helps explain what’s happening in our bodies the importance of being in this for the long game. 👍

EVK · 11/12/2024 06:50

@MissMarvelMum
That article on plateaus was so useful, I kind of knew this but reading it in black and white, reminding myself about the role of gherlin (sp.?) and how our MBR slows down to compensate for weight loss really helps. It emphasises the importance of building positive habits and how exercise of both strength and HIIT types is so important to mitigate and help reset our bodies to the new normal. I can see why MJ is advised for the long run - up to two years because that’s how long our bodies take to adjust to a new weight- so once we reach ‘goal’ weight - that’s when the real ‘work’ begins - helping our bodies to readjust to a new baseline! Our plateaus are a good sign, our feeling cold is an indication that we are plateauing and our bodies are lowering temperatures to try and conserve fat! Keep going ladies - we have to help ourselves by being patient and understanding that this is a long marathon not a sprint to the goal weight 👍🙌🏻🎉💃🏻

EVK · 11/12/2024 06:52

Even when we stop using MJ, I think we will need this group to keep going for a year or two!!!

letshavetea · 11/12/2024 07:25

@MissMarvelMum thanks for that link. It’s such a good article. It’d be helpful also to out that at the top of the continuing mounjaro thread so others can see it and it doesn’t get lost!

PolaDeVeboise · 11/12/2024 07:42

Very informative @MissMarvelMum , thank you!

lapuf · 11/12/2024 09:47

Fascinating, thank you. I've stalled at 15lbs off from a 165lb/11st 11 starting weight, so makes so much sense.
Been listening to why we eat too much on audiobook again but think I'll buy the hard copy so I can reread the set point stuff in it.

comewhinewith · 11/12/2024 12:34

I'm on Mounjaro for diabetes. I've noticed zero difference in blood sugar plus no noticeable weight loss (I'm not weighing, just going by clothes fit) on either 2.5 or 5ml, which has been quite disappointing.

I moved up to 7.5 last week and it's made a huge difference to my blood sugar - I almost can't believe it! Still a way to go but I'm feeling like the gastro issues may be worth it after all.

JustMoved123 · 11/12/2024 13:07

My journey has been mixed with the break to travel to UK and I messed about with the doses because I was away but this week I took the full 5mg for the first time and I’m hardly eating,
I think I was happier on a lower dose and enjoying my food. I don’t think I want this level of supression over Christmas. However at weigh in on Tuesday I had maintained so maybe I need the suppression?!
SW 86.5
CW 80
GW 65

8 week loss 6.5kg (1 stone) so a lot less than most people but pretty amazing for me tbh!

Can I ask why no weighing? I can honestly say it was a huge mistake I made and you cannot tell by clothes, most clothes you can go quite significantly up or down in and not notice. And of course can be bloated not bloated.

scales can be daunting, but I personally will never decide to just go by my clothes again as it allowed be to gain quite significantly.

Mainly because weight isn’t my priority, blood sugar levels are. The important thing is to get that under control. I’ve always struggled to lose weight (& I’ve tried pretty much everything apart from surgery) so any help this gives is a bonus.

Ah ok. That makes sense. Hopefully your diabetes is well controlled now.

I think I am insulin resistant, as does my doctor. My stomach has shrunk back amazingly. Quite seriously I must have lost at least six inches off my tummy. In 8.5 weeks, and now 23 lbs lost. It is quite staggering. My anxious jittery feeling has gone too, which will be due to my blood sugars now being stabilised. My difference was from the very first dose when it started visibly shrinking. And I’ve always had a round stomach, even when I was skinny and it was always rhe last place to lose weight, this time it’s the first.

HansHolbein · 11/12/2024 15:05

Helloooooo.. well, after the storm at the weekend we’ve been without WiFi since Saturday morning. We live in the arse end of nowhere so we barely get 4G/5G either. I’ve managed to contort myself into a tiny corner of the bathroom to write this.. who knows if it will post! Very annoying.

Weekly update from me

3.5lb down.

SW 16st 2.7lb
CW 14st 2.3lbs

Did my first 7.5 on Monday. That was my 9th injection.

The suppression yesterday was unbelievable. I woke up with a raging headache this morning so had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. First time I’ve had bread in over a month.

I’m freezing cold. Jeez Louise. Ugg boots surgically attached to my feet. Hands like ice!

Also agree with other posters that the first couple of days after injecting I’m very tired and struggling to find motivation. Not sure whether that is the medicine or eating less or winter? Not sure.

Love reading everyone’s updates.

@Mincepieinthesky Hope you’re ok.
