4lbs off this week. But was unwell too so that probably added to it. Planning on taking two weeks (maybe one) off over Christmas though!

EVK · 09/12/2024 07:54

@NearlyNewHip - 2lbs a week is a great regular weight loss. Just keep going and you’ll be where you want to be in no time. If I have a 2lb in a week then I’m over the moon. I’ve generally been averaging 1lb a week after an initial faster loss during first couple of weeks.
What is tdee? How do you work that out?

I bought 4mm needles which are very small and you hardly notice - will I be able
to buy a syringe to fit them? They are scree on pen needles, or will I need to buy something else for bonus dose. Is 3ml half a dose?

NearlyNewHip · 09/12/2024 08:08

Not great with acronyms...its the one that works out how many calories you use to live and then how many to walk around a little. Loads of calculators online. Realistically I know I'm doing ok I think it's that saying 'comparison being the thief of joy' .... 😂

letshavetea · 09/12/2024 08:10

Morning all. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s updates. I’ve just taken my 11th injection last night. I’ve used two 2.5mg pens (inc bonus doses extracted with insulin syringe and needle). Last night was a 45 click (3.75mg) from a 5mg pen. I’ve still been experiencing nausea, burps and indigestion so decided to take it easy! Weight is now 12.2 and 3/4 stone. So that’s just over half a stone in 10 weeks (two of which I was on holiday.

So, I’m having a very slow weight loss, but I feel less bloated and my jeans are looser! This is the point that I normally give up as I find the slow weight loss so difficult. MJ means I feel fine to keep going.

NearlyNewHip · 09/12/2024 08:10

The syringes come with a needle already as part of them, to get the doses, it's one or the other. So either a screw on (if the pen turns and still pushes) or extract with a syringe x

lapuf · 09/12/2024 08:26

I watched a short video to check how to do it. I squirted too much out in priming though

NearlyNewHip · 09/12/2024 08:36

I have syringes but still a bit scared, hoping my bonus dose on Friday will work with the hard twist like the last pen.

Fizzleawayy · 09/12/2024 09:07

Mysticmaiden2024 · 07/12/2024 15:22

I use a B12 oral spray, haven't needed the injections since. I take 1000mg a day and it feels similar to the injection but better as I don't have the decline after 6 weeks or so.

I bought a spray and Iv just started taking it, I will take it on top of the jabs. Thanks for recommending as I thought the pills were rubbish.

@NearlyNewHip 15lbs in 8 weeks is fantastic and if you are not hungry then it’s working for you.

@EVK if they are the screw on kind can you just put them on the pen and break the pen? You will need to buy the actual syringes like I linked if you want to extract the dose and yes 0.3 is half the dose.

@letshavetea well done on your losses.

@lapuf I only one click to prime it now as I don’t want to waste it 😂

@NearlyNewHip Iv done it with a syringe 3 times now and honestly it wasn’t any worse than when you normally do it. There was no pain. It just feels scarier.

This was with an insulin needle though so I didn't have the clicks to hold me back! I physically jumped with the squirt, haha Blush

oooo I see! I get you.

when I did it with the needle, I just faced the needle upwards and flicked the syringe a couple of times so the Air went to the top and then I pushed it a tiny little bit until I saw liquid come out.

Probably seen the flick thing on greys anatomy 😂

I am basically a qualified doctor now, ha ha.

Morning all

Jab and weigh day for, and moving up from 5 to 7.5.
SW 17'10
CW 16'11

Not much more to say at this point, just hoping suppression gets stronger with 7.5 as its been rubbish so far. The 7.5 pen, including the bonus dose, will take me to my holiday in jan, and I will take a 2 week break then probably go up to 10 when I get back.

Well done to all on the losses!

lapuf · 09/12/2024 12:07

@Fizzleawayy love it Grin we have become self-proclaimed experts on this in just seven weeks or so!

I did 3mg last night and my suppression isn't great today! First time I've felt proper hunger for a while, but riding it out and making sensible choices. Might be a long week ahead but I'm going to be dealing with this when I titrate down in spring so will use it as practice

Hi all - I have a question. Since losing weight has anyone been considerably colder than they usually are? I'm cold every single day and struggle to warm myself up. Albeit I've only lost 1.5 stone and I'm FREEZING all the time!

Yes, my electric water bottle is my new best friend. I actually don't think it's weight loss - it started right at the beginning, before I'd lost much (if any) weight so I think it might be a side effect of the drug for me.
Either way, yes - I'm layering up, drinking hot squash and going for brisk walks to feel warmer.

Yes me too. Apparently it's a common side effect.

Yes I’m cold all the time now. I working from
home and normally, my Oodie will be enough but today I have my electric water bottle as well under it. It’s so cold

I hope they work for you! Yeh I had 1000mg pills and felt no difference. Started taking vitamin d via spray and omg I can sleep through a night now..months of sleepless nights 😫

ChaosDream · 09/12/2024 19:35

Hi all, feeling a wee bit deflated - got digital scales and it turns out I'm 7.3kg heavier than I was on the old scales! However, I'm 9.2kg down in total so things are definitely going in the right direction. Am about to start my 7.5 pen and hope it works a wee but better than the 5 as I didn't feel much suppression with that 😊

UtterlyQuackers · 09/12/2024 19:35

The sulphur burps have arrived! Wow these are not pleasant. 2nd dose of 5mg, I thought I had escaped them!

Honestly give the insulin needle a go, I was really scared of doing it but it was really straightforward! xx

LumionaMoonsplash · 09/12/2024 19:40

I dont think I'm eating enough. I'm tired all the time and have a headache. I'm drinking lots of water though. I just feel like I need to sleep all the time, finding it difficult to switch myself "on". I don't know if I'm exhausted with it being really busy this time of year or perimenopause or small appetite. I'll try to eat a little more often and some more veg and fruit to help. I'm forcing myself to the gym 4x a week and that does help.

Thankfully I finish work a week on Friday so I can sleep in for a few days and I need to visit the Dr in the next few weeks to review my HRT so perhaps that will change things.

On the plus side I've lost another lb. Every lb now is the lightest I've been in 20yrs and quite exciting.

ItsMintUpNorth · 09/12/2024 19:52

I was going to do my 5mg bonus dose tonight but after being starving all day I think I might just sod it off and start my 7.5mg...

recklessgran · 09/12/2024 23:14

Is anyone else still being wiped out by 2.5mgs? I've been off the planet since my jab on Friday - almost the whole weekend in bed as I simply couldn't keep awake. I've been having this problem from the beginning. It's ridiculous that I'm such a lightweight. I think I'm going to count the clicks and drop down to 2 mgs next week. I just need to find the sweet spot don't I? Crumbs, 8 weeks in and I can't get off the lowest dose.
On other matters I uploaded my online medical record to MedExpress and they seem to think that's O.K. so fingers crossed I'll be able to order my next pen without any problem. I still have no idea why my G.P isn't playing ball but don't have time and can't be bothered to try to get to the bottom of it - they just keep saying it's up to my prescriber to decide whether or not it's O.K. for me to be on MJ. O.K. then if that's what you think why aren't you prepared to share my medical record with said prescriber so they can make an informed decision. Sigh!!!

Is there a chance your tiredness is a vitamin/mineral imbalance or not eating enough? I know your GP has been quite obstructive but would they do bloods to check things like your iron levels?

recklessgran · 10/12/2024 06:22

@WafflingDreamer the thing is that I'm really robust normally and wall to wall busy with no issues and more energy than anyone else in my family. I'm pretty certain my bloods would all be fine as it's not long since I had a full panel, BP check etc. It could be the not eating enough so you're right about that as I rarely go over 1000 calories. That's because I'm hypothyroid and above that I definitely wouldn't be losing. [10lbs so far in 8 weeks.] Having read everyone's musings on here I have actually ordered a B12 spray mainly to see if it helps with my insomnia which I've had for several years and is nothing to do with taking MJ. I'm going to make sure that the day before my next jab I eat extra protein and increase my calories to see if it makes any difference. The only other thing I can think is I wonder if these collapses of mine are caused by extremely low blood sugar? I don't have a sweet tooth at all - my downfall into weight gain mainly caused by bread [fresh baked, thick butter etc - carb crack to me!] and cheese of course. However no bread to speak of has been consumed since MJ except the odd slice of factory wholemeal to go with scrambled eggs. So, should I have some chocolate or something on jab day?
