Thank you everyone for your dose thoughts/strategies it's so interesting that despite being more similar in how much we want to lose there is still quite a variation.

@PotatoBreadForTheWin I think your strategy is most close to mine & your thoughts about skin & gallstones definitely echo my own!

I'm not really looking for being unable to eat as I see many people describe, it was some discussions about micro dosing to fix metabolic dysfunction that got me interested in the drug originally. I know I eat healthily (whole food etc) albeit too much but I also know I can stick to low calorie allowances & lose barely any weight. So far 2.5 has meant that sticking to my low calories is "worth it" because I've lost nearly 6 kg in nearly 4 weeks (so happy I could spit 🤣).

I'm focusing on hitting my protein & fibre goals so being unable to eat would be a bad thing for me!

I was wondering if anyone had any advice re late delivery. I was due a new pen on sat, Royal Mail mucked it up so it came Weds (so 5 days from dispatch). I had contacted my provider who sent a new one (also due Weds), Royal Mail tried to deliver today but rather than leaving it in my safe space will now re deliver tomorrow (3 days from dispatch).

So I now will have two pens that have been out of the fridge for a number of days, I know they are good for 30days at room temp but I was hoping to not start my new pen for another week. It’s been cold this week so will the second one have been at effectively fridge temp?

What do I do?!?

WeeklyJab · 21/11/2024 19:14

Interesting hearing people’s thoughts about dosing.

I did my first pen at 2.5mg (4 plus the “extra”) then bought the 5mg pen.

I was wary of side effects in doubling the dose so I’ve been doing 3.75mg (45 clicks) and keeping the pen in the fridge so it lasts more than 30 days.Obviously 3.75mg means 6 2/3 doses, so that would take it over the room temperature lifetime.

I will go to 5mg when this weight loss plateaus.

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 19:22

The 30 days is regardless of it being in the fridge or at room temp. 5 doses fits within 30 days and then it's up to you if you're ok with using it for a 6th dose beyond the manufacturer's instructions.

You do realise the instructions say 30 days in or out the fridge.. I know people keep it longer but it's not advised..

Depends how much of a risk taker you are and how much you want to abide by the official instructions..

alltablenochairs · 21/11/2024 19:23

@BM202 stick pen #2 in the fridge and use pen #1 first.

Regarding dosing, I've been doing it according to how well I feel it's working. I found that the food noise came back with a vengeance on 5mg so have upped the dose to 7.5mg. So far it seems to be working and only wears off around day 6. I have a 7.5mg pen to finish and also a 10mg pen in my fridge. I may or may not go up to the full 10mg depending on how well the 7.5mg works.

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 19:24

@BM202 was the pen that arrived on Wed still cold? If it was, then I'd not be worried about it. Ditto for the one due to be delivered tomorrow.

Does anyone find they are getting more musculoskeletal problems? And that pain killers are taking longer to work?

I keep getting a stiff neck and the slightest wrong move and my back is in agony. Just wondering if it's a coincidence or if it's something others are experiencing

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 22/11/2024 08:31

I can’t comment on musculoskeletal issues as I haven’t experienced anything unusual but it is well established that the delayed gastric emptying affects the absorption of medicines taken orally. You might have more relief if you use a topical ibuprofen or diclofenac gel like Ibuleve or Voltarol.

I've not noticed any joint issues - if anything my painful hip (misaligned pelvis and SPD that never buggered off after pregnancy) is much less painful at the moment.

There has been a lot of chat on one thread (I think the November starters thread 2 but I read a few) a couple of days ago about painful shoulders plus back. Some had assumed it was because they were sleeping more heavily but not all.

Painkillers taking longer to work makes sense in terms of slowed digestion.

Arglefraster · 22/11/2024 09:14

Posted Too soon!
hope it resolves or you find something that helps soon @WafflingDreamer

TorturedParentsDepartment · 22/11/2024 09:43

In other news - I got the tape measure out yesterday (I was procrastinating work) - I've lost 2cm off my swollen calf, 5cm off my waist and 7cm off my boobs (the first two places it comes and goes with me). Absolutely nothing off my fat arse and thunder thighs (at least I'm padded sitting down) and the scales have dropped another chunk today after playing yo-yo at 22st 12lb, I'm now showing at 22st 6lb. Some of that will come back on over the next week as that time of the month looms though but it's made the general downward graph look all pretty.

Still really testing my willpower with the return of a lot of food noise, although generally I can replace that with "I can go and buy a pack of Pokemon cards" noise if I have spare money - I've replaced my dopamine hit from going to the supermarket for crap to eat with buying shiny cardboard.

alwaysscared · 22/11/2024 11:12

The midweek 1.5lb loss has gone back on for no real reason. I'm getting so frustrated. Keep seeing people with big losses and I just wish I could be like that

alwaysscared · 22/11/2024 13:04

I mean, this is how much exercise I have done since Monday. Surely I should be losing more weight. I'm counting all my calories. I know I moan a lot but I'm just finding it really hard to stay motivated when I'm not seeing results on the scales

alwaysscared · 22/11/2024 13:05

Some of those work outs are meditation (have a peloton)

WeeklyJab · 22/11/2024 13:06

Thanks, @morbidcuriosity and @SilenceInside . No, I had misread it as lasting 30 days once at room temperature.

However, on balance I’m happy with the 6th dose on day 35 this month. I won’t make a habit of it (because I’ll be on 5mg from next pen anyway). But I do appreciate the information.

@WafflingDreamer , that sounds rough! I’ve found the reverse - my joint pain level has improved. I’ve been assuming the 10kg of weight no longer bearing down on it as alleviated things a little. I hope it eases for you soon.

SilenceInside · 22/11/2024 14:44

@alwaysscared that does all sound really frustrating, I'm not surprised you're feeling fed up. You will get through this though and the scales will start to move down again. I had a gain a couple of weeks ago too.

Darlinghag · 22/11/2024 18:03

I hear you @alwaysscared - I am not a fast loser either. This week I am showing a slight gain - unless things change by tomorrow. I am doing it right, and I know this time of the month makes me bloat, but its so frustrating!

i try to take comfort that slower is better for me. Minimising loose skin, pancreatic issues etc is paramount for me, plus its giving me time to adjust to this new life.

EternalFatalist · 22/11/2024 18:47

Hello and happy Friday.

So I have just finished my fourth MJ pen (1 x 2.5mg, 3 x 5mg) and have lost 3st 1lb since the beginning of July. Current weight is 12st 10 lbs - when I hit the 12s last week, I was so happy. I'm 3.5 lbs away from being out of the "Obese" BMI category and have lost 26.5 inches, including 8 inches from my waist. 😀

I'm continuing with 5mg because it is still working and I am happy with a steady 2lb/week loss rate. I ordered a pen from ASDA (my supplier since Day 1) last week on Tuesday evening, it was approved within 3 minutes (!), and was delivered by 1pm the following day. They are always good but wowza!

I'm still always cold (my only side effect) so this week has been hell with the weather.

Wishing everyone a good weekend and happy to see everyone's losses and NSVs, and the supportive community here on MN. ❤️

Pumpkinforever · 22/11/2024 18:59

That’s great @EternalFatalist I am only starting week 4 on Tuesday and my ambition is to be out of obese category. You are almost there. Well done👏🏻

NewbieMJ · 22/11/2024 21:48

I temporarily lost my pen! I was away for a week. Searched everywhere, in my case. Couldn't find it. In my panic, ordered a new one, only to find the fucker - exactly where I had put it for safe keeping🙄

Put on a couple of pounds while I was away, but feel I can get back into the groove relatively easily. Onwards and upwards lovely losers.

alltablenochairs · 22/11/2024 23:47

@WafflingDreamer my joints are either wrecked or in the process of being wrecked. Long story but the tldr version is autoimmune disease that's trying to pretend to be something else. My neck/shoulders is one of the worst places but then I also have a spinal curvature. The only time I noticed a difference in range of motion/pain was right in the beginning whem I hadn't yet worked out what I should and shouldn't be eating. A few days of lack of calcium muscle cramps in my calves/things wasn't much fun.

However the weather where I am isn't great. I'm already having issues with MJ and feeling constantly cold. However when it's -4 outside or raining my body likes to tell me alllllllllllll about it. The autoimmune disease I have is well known for temperature intolerance though. The cold-induced dystonia is a new thing since starting MJ though. Could it be that actually it's the crappy weather that's making you hurt?

InfoSecInTheCity · 23/11/2024 00:38

For those of you feeling the cold I would like to strongly recommend a heated throw. I have one on the sofa and one at my desk, the one on the sofa is an extra large Dreamland one about 200cm, the desk one is just the standard 160cm and was £35 from B&M. They are wonderful, like wrapping yourself in a hot water bottle,

One of the very few negatives about losing weight is the lack of insulation, it will be great in the summer but I will miss being able to go the whole winter with just a hoodie and fingerless gloves against the cold. Now I have a calf length puffer style coat, snood, gloves, hat, 2 pairs of socks and I still feel cold.

The other downside being a bony arse that feels bruised after about 20 mins of sitting down.

Darlinghag · 23/11/2024 09:45

I love a heated blanket! Have a dreamland one and its the best!

Well, after an entire week of being anywhere between .5 to 4lbs up due to the wrong time of the month, today I am a 1lb down!! Woohoo!

7.5mg was only ok this week. I am on day 6 and from day 3 its been a lot of food noise, but I am going to continue on the dose until my next pen (4 doses to go!!) and maybe one more dose after (as its the week before christmas and if I go up and get hit with insane suppression it will be a dead give away with family!!)

I have 5.5 weeks to lose 4.7lbs and bit my target so feeling hopeful!

hope everyone else is happy with things this week!
