I've been taking MJ since June and I shop around each month for the best price. I've ordered from 4 different pharmacies in total.

I order a pen every 4 weeks but take 5 doses from each one so have a bit of a stash now.
My BMI is 31 now and will continue with this for a while yet. I think as long as you have proof of previous prescriptions you can move providers when BMI is a bit lower than 30.
At some point I will see what maintenance plans are available and make a move to the one I feel I want to stick with.
I read the maintenance threads regularly to keep up to date with who is offering what.

Rm2018 · 12/01/2025 16:03

Got to 3 stone lost today. Still 4stone 11 to go but today I felt it. No jeans that fit anymore and binned a load of leggings and underwear lol. Just got to stay motivated now!

Darlinghag · 12/01/2025 18:35

Thanks @RobinEllacotStrike and @WeAllHaveWings .

feeling better about it today, and appetite more reasonable as well.

just jabbed and I am wondering if i somehow messed up my dose last week. I bled - for the first time doing it, and there was a bead of drug on my entry point when I pulled the needle out - and tons of bruising the next day. I wonder if i am just stretching trying to find the reason for a bad day, when the reality is its probably just my period and hornones making me a bit off about it all!

i used my golden dose today and the plunger didn’t break! Typical, when i bought syringes for it haha!

i’m determined this week will be a better week!

I was just looking at the price comparison site, and it looks like there’s a lot of price variation between providers with a lot of offers. As I have a long (long!) way before I’m at the BMI 30 mark, would it work to jump between providers to make the most of all the offers, then settle in with a provider who offers good maintenance before I get to BMI 30?

Are there any downsides of doing this?

I’m very new to all this, but already it feels life changing (and I don’t use that lightly) so trying to stretch out the funds to afford for as long as possible!

Grateful for thoughts of others who are in it for the long haul.

I moved providers after about 4 months but decided I could not face the stress of moving every month so wanted to pick someone I could hopefully stay with for a while.
I ruled out MedExpress on principle before starting as I hate the culture they promote of scruffs posting codes all over every site (we've even had it on these threads for those of you who are newer and may not have seen it) then I weighed up cost, Trustpilot rating, things I'd read on here and whether they offer maintenance options for if I ever need it. For me the choice came down to Ashcroft Pharmacy, Oushk and Pharmulous as all are reasonably priced, have reliable deliveries and seem to have good support services. It may have changed though as I moved a few months back.

Good luck with whoever you pick

roughtyping · 12/01/2025 20:24

Hi all, hoping I can join. Waiting to hear if my prescription is approved. Ideally would love to lose 6 stone but feels impossible at the moment. Lost 30lbs last year through diet & exercise but it was monumental effort, stress has ramped right back up this year at work along with a flare in my physical conditions so hoping this gives me a boost.

morbidcuriosity · 12/01/2025 20:39

@roughtyping I want to lose 6 stone too and it felt like a massive task to begin with but I'm over 4 stone down now since August and less than 2 to go. So it's very doable.. Good luck!

I don't think it's very nice that you've basically called people using MedExpress 'scruffs'
Fair point if anyone posts referrals where they shouldn't (they will be removed sharpish by MN and rightly so) but at the end of the day we are all just trying to lose weight. Often with upsetting and challenging medical conditions. We are all just trying to do it for a fair price. It's a difficult and expensive business anyway. We are all in the same boat. No need for the 'scruffs' comment. There's enough judgment on us already.

That's fabulous @morbidcuriosity , well done! How have you found sticking to it all?

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/01/2025 22:01

@RainbowZebraWarrior I did say "scruffs who post codes over every site" so it is clearly not referring to everyone who uses MedExpress but just to that specific group.
MN have done well to restrict it although it did take a lot of reported posts at one point but it is still endemic on other sites. I have seen several TikTok "influencers" saying they are often removing 50+ code posts put in comments on their posts and lives.

The law in this country specifically forbids pharmacies from offering any financial inducement on prescribed medication. This is from one piece of professional guidance so I really do not understand how they are still getting away with such unprofessional behaviour.
"Q. Can I offer a free gift such as a voucher for new patients who bring in a prescription to be dispensed by the pharmacy for the first time?
A. No. The Terms of Service state that a pharmacy must not offer any gift or reward to any person as an inducement to: a) present an order for drugs or appliances on a prescription form or repeatable prescription; b) nominate the pharmacy as their dispensing contractor; c) receive any Advanced or Enhanced Services. A ‘gift or reward’ would include vouchers, money or reward points. Additionally, the terms of service state the pharmacy must not offer any gift or reward to any person for recommending the pharmacy to others for provision of the above mentioned services."

alltablenochairs · 12/01/2025 23:52

I don't shop around. Mainly because RM isn't that reliable where I am and I wanted to avoid anyone who uses them. I've also got enough hassle in my life without having to worry about codes and who's the cheapest this month.

I've been taking it since early October and have lost around 16kg so far. My BMI recently tipped over into the 30's (currently 39.6) but I still have a long, long way to go. I'm coming close to my first mini goal which is losing 20kg. I've got a few goals after that lined up centred around meaningful weights. I don't have an end goal yet.

This I really interesting, I wonder how they are getting away with it?

I've been with Asda since day 1 and never used a code. Sometimes I think maybe I'm being a fool paying over the odds but actually I'm glad I've stuck with a reputable established brand.

Darlinghag · 13/01/2025 09:50

@Eminybob ive been with asda and never used a code (although i did cave and post mine once in the thread!). Its always been an easy and quick experience for me!

will have to move eventually though, mainly for the maintenance plans elsewhere and to get the cost down a bit long term! But happy to wait and see what providers are figuring out for these - it still feels early days and i think the landscape will change a lot in the coming year with regards to prices and programmes.

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 10:20

There are some interesting articles on the Chemist + Druggist website, like this one:

https://www.chemistanddruggist.co.uk/CD138399/Revealed-Online-pharmacies-use-TikTok-stars-to-shift-discount-weight-loss-jabs/

It seems like the pharmacies are saying that they don't promote the discount codes themselves, and that they aren't for a specific prescription only medication, they are for their weight loss services in general, so could be applied to a prescription for Wegovy, Mounjaro, or other medication that they offer. But, the GPhC seem to disagree and have made public statements to say that the pharmacies should not be using discount codes at all. The problem seems to be that when the GPhC do their inspections and when they fail pharmacies for reasons including promoting codes, they are not insisting that they stop doing it in the subsequent improvement plan! So there's no effective sanction for doing it. I suspect most pharmacies will continue until specifically told not to in an improvement plan following a failed inspection.

Darlinghag · 13/01/2025 10:23

I feel like the bubble has to burst on the codes. Aside from the legalities etc.

People will pay to attain thinness, thats just the reality of it, and large corporations are greedy!

hellohellooo · 13/01/2025 11:27

16.3 today

3lb loss this week

Losing around 2 lbs a week

3 and a half stone down

3 stone 4lbs to go

Giving myself 6 more months and then wondering how I can manage with out using these weekly injections?

gimmemounjaro · 13/01/2025 16:47

I fell off this thread in November, well I chose to stop looking at it and stop weighing and tracking because it was getting a bit all-consuming.

Anyway, I'm back. I started with about 6 stone to lose last summer, still on MJ, 7th pen, now at -50lbs and with about 30 more to go, although that might change when I get there.

Posting to placemark really, will go back and read the thread now 👍

MooBaggage · 13/01/2025 16:57

Well I've just done my first injection! I was so nervous...! Took ages and I read the instructions a trillion times...

I'm trying not to feel immediately ill - am scared of side effects - so a quiet night in for me and early to bed to try and forget about it...!

Well done @MooBaggage ! I remember the first time well - there was shaking, swearing and tears of frustration - took me an hour to do it. 🙈 It gets easier!
