Please can I join?

Started my changed diet 15th Nov (DH started MJ on this date and lost 2.5st so far) and added MJ 20th Dec.

Lost 13lb to date (including a small gain Christmas week).

Need to lose a lot! First goal is 3 stone gone for March when we go to Thailand.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 04/01/2025 09:44

Welcome @Dueanamechange2025!

@Timetofindme if you have good suppression on 5mg with days when you struggle to eat enough it doesn’t sound like you need to titrate up at all.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping when I ordered the pen I'd had a couple of tiny losses (like 0.2lb) but when you average it out it's probably 1lb a week. So I decided to order the 7.5 but I am debating going up a bit.

Probably not helped as I felt like someone on another thread was (I felt - although im sure it wasnt their intention) a bit scathing about the speed of my loss and that I'm on 'such a low dose'. I definitely dont want to go up to the full 7.5 but I'm considering an in the middle.

Maybe I'm just a slow loser and need to be happy with 1lb a week, just a bit despondent I suppose seeing others good losses, and the fact I can't see any difference in how I look despite now being over 2 stone down. Maybe I'm just in a slump and need to pull myself out of it!

Timetofindme · 04/01/2025 10:16

@Dueanamechange2025 hiya! Thailand sounds awesome! We've all got (or had!) and lot to lose and I've found this thread so supportive. There are lots of other threads around but I've felt a bit out of place on them cos some people have reached their final goals already and I've such a long way to go!

Bibulous · 04/01/2025 10:22

End of week 11. Lost 2lbs this week which means I've lost a total of 3st! If I lose another few lbs then I'll be 25% of the way to my goal. This is such a great start to the new year!

Darlinghag · 04/01/2025 10:25

@Timetofindme I agree that it doesnt sound like you need to go up! 1.5lbs loss a week is an average deficit of 750 cal a day! Thats more than enough and is far more sustainable - and better for your body in terms of side effects/negative reactions like pancreatitis and loose skin?

ignore those quick fixers - they are not you and they are not right!

@Timetofindme obviously it’s your decision but I wouldn’t consider the ill-informed opinion of a stranger to be a reason to increase the dose of a potent drug (and I do appreciate that in saying I am also a stranger who may be equally ill-informed!). You may lose more on a higher dose but if you’re already experiencing strong suppression on 5mg then it is likely to come at the cost of increased unpleasant side effects.

OP posts:
Timetofindme · 04/01/2025 10:48

@Darlinghag ironically I've said similar to other posters. I think some weeks is 0.2lbs and then the next is 2lbs so it's about 1lb a week. Kind of regretting buying a 7.5 currently so might use 5 out of it (noting @WafflingDreamer about the having some left over - i usually use the bonus dose but not sure I'd want to go beyond that). Will see how losses go but if I can stick on the 5 my bank account won't complain!

Thanks all, you lot are the best!

Timetofindme · 04/01/2025 10:51

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping a fair point! I think on the lower loss weeks I've started thinking I need to go up, then the next week when I drop more I think oh no I'm ok as I am. Appetite is definitely suppressed still, have to make myself eat breakfast (although I've never been a big breakfast person) and my portions are significantly reduced still.

Thanks all for talking me back into being sensible!

Timetofindme · 04/01/2025 10:54

@Bibulous that's a great loss! 25% of your goal will be such a good marker to hit! Fab!

fourquenelles · 04/01/2025 11:03

Morning lovely people. I have just taken my 5th 5 mg dose. I have lost 25 lbs since I started on 12 October. I managed to cap my Christmas gain to just 1 lb whereas in previous times I have been able to pile on 7 lbs in 4 days! NSV include a new number on the scales and a £7 in the sale pair of F&F skinny jeans in a size 20.

I am finding I have more sulphur burps on 5mg and I have gone from being a little constipated to being much looser (never trust a fart!) I have also noticed that my appetite has decreased but there is more food noise than when I was on 2.5mg. Something that will train me for when I eventually come off the drug I hope! Onwards and downwards.

Thanks, looking forward to getting properly into it not Christmas is over. Really glad I didn’t wait another two weeks to start.

Thailand is a special trip for DHs 50th and our 20th wedding anniversary. Really want to be fitter then now so we can do some of the trips to temples and Emerald pools etc without worrying too much that we won’t be able to do it.

Is your maths off a bit there? (or questioning myself as never slept much last night thanks to hot flashes!)

I get 6.25 / 7.5 x 60 = 50 clicks (or 0.5ml)...............

40 clicks would be 5mg

Probably that's why I put the calculation there too. One day I'll learn not to do the actual maths and share it

Darlinghag · 04/01/2025 11:27

Well, weigh day for me. Since last Saturday I have lost 4.4lbs!! Please note, I have been unwell for weeks, so this is why - its not normal loss for me!!

A scale victory for me - I am now under 16st!! I am 15st12.6! Hoping to reach 15.7st by thw last day of this month. Really enjoying having these interim goals too! 1.1kg left to get under 100kg!

Some non scale victories - I no longer get hip/back pain when walking and sleeping! I have an old hip issue from an injury that didn’t recover properly. Its meant sleeping in most positions and walking for a length of time was painful. Not anymore!! I didn’t realise it has gone until this week!!

I can see my bone scar on my face! This is a weird one, but basically I have a cheek fracture that has left a significant crack in my cheek - with the chub on my face previously I couldn’t see it, now when I smile its visible. Its not awful looking - like a dimple! Can also see my cheekbones in the mirror now too.

a non scale not-a-victory - so much less fat on my bum means i hate sitting too long in the theatre or cinema 😂😂

congrats on everyone else’s successes!!

Arglefraster · 04/01/2025 11:49

Hello All
I'm keeping on & despite only not tracking for Xmas & Boxing Day it's taken me a while to get the scales moving again. Having had another freak out about my alopecia it's definitely lack of sleep that destroys my efforts.

My NSVs are
All my me made pants fit, including the bamboo ones that shrunk
DH told me he can see I've lost weight (I was a bit snarking about how he's only noticed 10kg gone now & he said it thought it was my boobs getting even bigger but has now realised it's my belly getting smaller 🤣🙄🤣)
I was able to eat at Christmas fairly normally so there is far more will power (£ power??) in control than results would indicate- which is both scary & awesome.

I've read along but doing so on the app now (because the mobile site crashes my phone 🤷‍♀️) & I can't work it properly yet. So my congratulations to all especially everyone on the cusp of those all important BMI categories 🎉🎉🎉

WeAllHaveWings · 04/01/2025 12:18

First weigh-in of 2025. Happy to have escaped Christmas and New Year with no gains. This weeks stats -

End of week - 28 (5 x 2.5mg, 23 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 16st 5lbs BMI 34.9
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0
Total loss - 5st 0lbs (70lbs), 23.4%
Next Target 🎯- 14st 3lb by end June (BMI < 30, 100lbs lost, Onederland!)

New year, new target and new-ish graph! If I average 2lb a week loss target would be hit sometime in April, but I expect loss to slow down and hoping to reach it by end of June, also hoping to start HRT if I can get a Dr to talk to me, not sure how that will impact weight loss.

Not looking forward to getting back to work 🙈 but looking forward to getting back into a routine again! 🎄is coming down today and while dh is putting it back up in the loft I'll ask him to get ds's 5kg dumbbells down - I need to get into some regular walking and some strength training. I keep starting then life takes over and it gets dropped again - never got past 5k steps and absolute beginner dumbbell exercises with 2kg. Any hints and tips (suitable for weak menopausal joints!) welcome!

Welcome to all the new joiners 💗, and a huge well done 🏅 to everyone who is still here, working hard and fighting for your own goals! Brace yourself, 2025 - this is our year and we are all going to nail it! 🤩

Well done @WeAllHaveWings love your graph - how did you create it and is it something you could
share please so I could add my own data? Thanks x

Arglefraster · 04/01/2025 13:18

Gorgeous graph @WeAllHaveWings !

For strength training I'm a big fan of "You are your own gym"/"body by you" which is a body weight strength training book. It's a do anywhere kind of thing & when I'm on track I run through 3x12 sets after dinner when I can. It's progressive so you start where you're at & then modify the exercises as you get stronger (think wall push up, to work surface, to chair, to floor)

For weights I like LiftwithCee on YouTube

MontyJinks · 04/01/2025 16:06

2 stone down 🎉 (3 to go) 💪

@Darlinghag - totally with you on the 'non scale not-a-victory' 🤣

Having a 'bony' bum is absolutely new territory!

WeAllHaveWings · 04/01/2025 16:30

Just taken my last dose out of current pen (5mg with expiry 11/2025) and hard twist was definitely different/didn't work. Instead of snapping once then turning it snapped 3-4 times, then went loose. I tried to inject and the dose knob went down partially (plunger in vial didn't move at all) then it stopped and wouldn't go any further.

I took the dose with the syringes I had on standby instead. It is worth getting some in if you have had success previously with hard twist, just incase. If it snaps more than once/goes loose on the hard twist I would abandon trying to inject yourself as it probably won't work.

Darlinghag · 04/01/2025 16:32

@WeAllHaveWings my 7.5mg pens have all done this - either impossible to twist or the plunge grey bit snaps. I keep meaning to buy syringe needles but forget all the time! Stupid given the cost hey - I will get some for this pen I swear!

WeAllHaveWings · 04/01/2025 16:44

@Darlinghag some links to help with syringes - a popular 1ml 8mm 32G fine needle syringe is

FMS Micro Syringe 32G 8mm 1ml

or if you are wimp like me and bought above and looked at them and can't face 8mm or are worried about blunting the needle injecting into the red seal before using yourself - I used the ones linked below and changed the needle between extracting and injecting. It is not necessary and most people use the syringe above or similar, but I have a bit of a mental block with needles and this suited me. Video link gives some ideas on how to switch needles in-between - need to buy myself a nurses outfit 🤣.

1ml Unifix Luer Lock Syringe
31g Light Blue 6mm
