Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun I have already had a partial dose from my 5.0mg pen though.

That was 0.5ml with a syringe, which I think works out as 4.0mg?

Therefore I need either 2 or 2.5mg from the new pen.

Am I right in thinking that is 16 or 20 clicks?

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 10:35

@HellofromJohnCraven Hang on in there, your woosh will come!

@Changinghabits1973 If the side effects have lessened over the last few days, it might be your body is finally settling into its 7.5mg level, so I would keep it to the same day.

@morbidcuriosity Congrats on your fab woosh!

@poppym12 Dont get disheartened it seems quite common for some people to have no/minimal losses on 5mg. Holiday and sickness are always going to mess things up too. Hopefully 7.5mg will pick things up for you.

@Blondeshavemorefun Sorry you are feeling poorly this morning. Might be an idea to keep a supply of anti sickness to hand, kwells or cyclizine work for me but there are lots of others and its a case of trial and error to find what works for you. Also anything ginger or mint will help. I also find a kombucha drink helps my tummy feel better. Welcome (finally) to the MJ nausea club!😊

@NippyCrab Thinking of you and your girl. I have everything crossed that she improves asap.😊

In case @Blondeshavemorefun has gone to bed... You are spot on.
You had 4.16mg from your 5mg pen so 16 or 20 clicks from your new pen will give you more or less what you want.

WorriedRelative · 11/11/2024 10:45

Super thanks @MabelSpan and @Blondeshavemorefun

Blondes hope you feel better soon

2.5 is 24 clicks. 2 is 20. This of a 7.5 pen.

Can I just check my understanding? I have stuck with 7.5mg rather than going to 10 as I still have really good suppression. I think that the purpose of the jab is appetite suppression and it slows the rate the stomach empties.
If I'm still getting this at 7.5mg, moving to 10mg won't increase how fast I lose the weight?

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 11:21

@FlappingMadly 20 clicks or mls is a third of any pen, all pens are 60 clicks or 0.6mls. So for a 7.5mg pen 20 clicks or mls is 2.5mg and 16 clicks or mls is 2.0mg.
@WorriedRelative Your calculations are correct.

Oops sorry! Missed the line. Is why I shared the pic too.

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 11:33

@HellofromJohnCraven That is my understanding too. I suppose you might lose more weight on a higher dose initially, but wouldnt that happen because the suppression is so high you simply stop eating? I am not really sure of the answer tbh just trying to think logically!

@FlappingMadly No problem!😊

owlyboo · 11/11/2024 11:39

@Changinghabits1973 I'd stick to the 7 days but obviously it's personal preference

@HellofromJohnCraven how frustrating hope you get a whoosh soon!

@morbidcuriosity well done! Fab loss!

Oh @poppym12 that must be really frustrating. Not really sure what to say as I wouldn't be fuming with no loss in a month!

Feel better soon @Blondeshavemorefun

@NippyCrab hope pup is on the mend.

Happy Monday all. Hope this week brings us all great losses!!!

NippyCrab · 11/11/2024 11:43

Good morning, wee chocolate chip girl is the same, yesterday her temperature was 104.5 he said and this morning still 104. She was sick overnight and didn't even attempt to get up so we cleaned her up and got her out for a piddle and she just slept. Because her temperature hasn't gone down she's had steroid injected and now we wait for the bloods to be analysed at the Veterinary hospital. They ran some this morning at the vet and theres no infection markers, so does that mean viral?

In regards to my amazing salted caramel milk chocolate covered almonds, I felt seedy afterwards haha so that was my karma for eating too many. I'll take a raincheck about moving up to 5mg until Friday 😂

@Blondeshavemorefun that doesn't sound like you my wee Biscoff Blondie. Hopefully a sleep will sort you out 😘

Thank you everyone 💓 I love this group for everything it does for me, makes me laugh, cheers me up, educates me, give me support and just knowing that we are all going through the same bloody hard road of weight loss is a comfort.
I'm going to walk the boisterous boys now and DH is leaving for his 10 days working, so although I've enjoyed my week with the pest, I'm looking forward to having time to myself 😂😂

This is why I've stayed on 5mg. Still getting the suppression.. sometimes day 5 or 6 I think I'll bring it forward a day, but when I actually think about it the suppression is still there so never do. . Once it wears off I will move to 7.5

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 12:00

@NippyCrab Goodness, your poor girl, I hope the results from the hospital come through quickly so they can get on top of whatever this horrible thing is. I remember all too well how upsetting and stressful it is when our dogs are poorly. Sending hugs to you both. Your salted caramel, milk chocolate covered almonds sound delicious!
I ate my body weight in roast potatoes yesterday. I only had 4 on my plate, I think, but then kept going back for more over the following few hours. They were so good though, I refuse to regret it! Having the leftovers bubbled and squeaked today, then no more carbs forever! Hahah, thats not going to happen!

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 12:08

Weigh in and MJ day for me. 2nd week of 4.25mg. According to Shotsy, I am 25% of my way to my ultimate goal weight! Not sure if that is inspiring or depressing😃

SW 20st 3lbs 14th Aug 24.
CW 18st 1lb
WL 0.8lb
TL 2st 2lbs
Week 13 Average wkly loss -2.4lbs

I would have lost more had I not eaten my bodyweight in roast potatoes, roasted in lard yesterday! God they were so good! I dont regret a mouthful!😄

WorriedRelative · 11/11/2024 12:14

So I did 17 clicks, which means my total dose this week is 6.2ish so next week 50 clicks should be about the same again.

I go on holiday next week so am being conservative with my doses.

Changinghabits1973 · 11/11/2024 12:15

poppym12 · 11/11/2024 09:32

Yes, I have a 7.5 and a 5mg pen in the fridge so I'll go for the 7.5 next Sunday. I thought 5 was working well for me too, hence why I'd ordered another one. Bit gutted about basically wasting a month.

How is the 7.5 working for you @Changinghabits1973 ?

Hey.. so initially not going to lie felt rough with nausea dizziness insomnia but think I've turned a corner now.. fingers crossed ! When I had the side effects I didn't really experience suppression to a huge extent tbh but the last few days I honestly have.. I'm starting to feel full so much quicker and also stopping when I feel that and eating slower.. due to inject today and going to stick with the every 7 days as asked for a bit of guidance on this lovely thread.. I'm hoping this next week my body will have adjusted more in terms of side effects and weigh days are Wednesdays so will see what those scales say ! X

Changinghabits1973 · 11/11/2024 12:18

Thanks for all the advice earlier.. am going to inject as normal later today and see what the next week brings !
@NippyCrab hope you get to the bottom of the bloods ASAP.. it's so upsetting when we love them so much and can't tell us what's wrong.. sorry that temperature was still the same virtual hugs xx

poppym12 · 11/11/2024 12:35

Glad it's settled for you @Changinghabits1973. I hope you get some positive results soon.

Thing I don't understand about my big fat failure is that suppression has still been good on the second 5mg pen (until maybe yesterday or Saturday), I have continued to count every calorie and have rarely gone into above 1200, (occasionally by around 50 cals if I have a soya milk decaff after tea to top up my protein). I did lose a little bit a few days after my holiday so didn't actually gain whilst eating 3 small meals per day whilst away (when I was having to estimate calories and portions).

Being ill, no appetite and eating crappier stuff even though it's been within my 1200 per day limit but not losing anything in 3 or 4 weeks doesn't make sense to me. A calorie is a calorie isn't it? I use Nutracheck to log everything so can see an average over 7 days from one screen and I was definitely under 1200.

Anyway, sorry for the miserable waffling. I'm not hungry today and feel a bit sick so can't face food at the moment.

20bloodypounds · 11/11/2024 12:49

@WorriedRelative Yes, 50 clicks is 6.35mg

@poppym12 how have you felt on the 5mg pen (apart from your illness)? Have you got over any side effects, has your appetite felt supressed? You haven't wasted a month, your body has plateaued for a little while - that's often not a bad thing during weight loss. And of course your body has been working hard to fix itself and recover. That's quite a lot for it to be getting on with. Now you just have to persuade it that you're fit and well and ready to drop a few more pounds!

Also a calorie doesn't seem to be just a calorie. How often have we read "calories in, calories out, just eat less and move more". And we all know it is not as simple as that. Excess energy from carbohydrates is stored as glycogen. It's a readily accessible form of glucose but it is bound to water molecules, so you are also storing water, that's why the first week of a diet (especially a low carb diet) can see a bigger loss as the glycogen is used up [easier to use than fat stores] and those water molecules are also released as well. People often report that on the first week of a low carb diet they can't stop peeing!

And if people have a very high protein diet and are excercising heavily (like body builders) the excess energy is used to build muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat, so weight increases.

poppym12 · 11/11/2024 12:58

You're right @20bloodypounds, thank you. I'll give myself a shake!

Just read up on medication side effects and apparently even a short course of steroids can cause fluid retention so I suppose that, combined with my cravings for toast and cheese sandwiches has refilled all those water bits.

I'll try to plan a much more protein heavy week. Tricky with not much appetite and being vegetarian.

FlappingMadly · 11/11/2024 13:00

Big hugs @poppym12 . Yes a calorie is a calorie. Commiserations. A plateau absolutely sucks. Maybe shake it up a bit? 4 or so days of more calories.

owlyboo · 11/11/2024 13:07

Oh @NippyCrab hope she improves soon!!

@MabelSpan glad you enjoyed them!!! Well done on the loss.

Moan away @poppym12 as that sounds very frustrating and strange! God knows why you're not losing?!

MabelSpan · 11/11/2024 13:38

@poppym12 Have you calculated your average weekly loss since you started? As @20bloodypounds said a calorie isnt a calorie. There have been so many recent discoveries where weight loss and calories are concerned, I think its been more or less accepted that the old calorie in, calorie out rule is not accurate after all. One of the things that stuck in my mind was about nuts, whilst they are high in calories, our bodies dont absorb quite a big percentage of them, dont ask me to explain any more than that though, way above my knowledge😄

@owlyboo Thank you! I really did love them😊

poppym12 · 11/11/2024 14:32

I was averaging around 1kg or just under per week so I was happy with that as it's1.5-2lb so not too rapid. Since I was ill, nothing lost at all.

I've not been able to face eating much fruit lately (unusual for me) and the thought of yoghurt or anything supposedly good for protein makes me heave.

I felt ok on 5mg after the first few days of nausea with the first dose and it seemed to be working well, hence doing another 5mg pen.

I'm sorry, I haven't tagged the people I'm replying to. Feeling wiped out today. Had a more normal weekend as I felt so much better. I've obviously done too much and ME is kicking my backside.
