Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

Well I’ve only gone and reached my goal weight!!!

16/5/24 15’11 BMI 33.6
15/11/24 11’10 BMI 24.9

I’m 54 years old and 5’8 with a large frame.

I’ve lost 57 pounds in exactly 6 months = 26% body weight!

Regarding my maintenance plan, I’ve got 2 unopened pens in the fridge so I’m going to use these to gradually reduce my dose over the next couple of months and then see how I’m doing in the New Year.

Congratulations to all of us amazing losers 🤩 we are absolutely fabulous!

I'm so proud of you. Well done! This is amazing news!

We're getting so many fabulous updates.

I started this journey in mid April with a BMI of 35 and today it’s 25 and I can wear pre-COVID clothes.
Ideally I’d like to be around 23 (suits my frame and was there for most of my adult life). I was on 10mg until last week but from this week I’m on 7.5 and plan to reduce until I’m back to 2.5. Based on feedback from Boots I can continue on Mounjaro without a time limit, providing I’m over 22.
Very happy I started this journey. Thanks to all March and April munsnetters. Without their input I would have never decided to go for it.

It's like a party on this thread there's just so much to celebrate today 🥳🎉🎉🎉 well done you.

Getting into old clothes is just the best feeling ever and such a reward.

I can't tell you enough just how proud I am.

@VioletsHeart @FarriersGirl I have some lovely friends who are supportive no matter what but there's just a couple I just couldn't be sure about and don't want to risk any fallout. One is always trying to lose weight herself but is quite resentful if any of the rest of us do it. Another is married to a retired medic and, although she is lovely, I know she tells him everything and I don't think he would approve. It's also pointless arguing as he thinks he knows everything and she agrees with him!
I do realise my sensitivity about this is my problem and not theirs but it's hard to change the habits of a lifetime. It's funny that I've reached my 60s before realising all this! 🙄

MountKilimounjaro · 15/11/2024 04:43

@QueenOfHiraeth I find the same people that are judgey about how people lose weight are the same types of people that are judgey about people who are overweight.

It's very much their problem, not yours. Grr.

Absolutely loving all of these positive updates. Everyone has come so far.

I'm currently enjoying thinking about style and fashion. Before I always thought that was for other people as I could only think about what might fit. Now I'm slowly rediscovering dressing well and in clothes I like and that reflect who I am.

OrangeWire · 15/11/2024 05:50

@MountKilimounjaro style and fashion has been on my mind recently as well. I’ve spent my entire adult life tailoring my clothes around what was “slimming” and best hid my weight but now that I’m changing shape I’m starting to wear things I never dreamed I would and I realise that before that wasn’t really a choice of mine, just what was drilled into me by my mother (who had the best of intentions).

MountKilimounjaro · 15/11/2024 06:06

@OrangeWire I know what you mean about adhering to slimming rules.

Having the choice now is what's so exciting I think. The choice of where to shop, of what to wear and the choice of how you want to present yourself to the world.

It's a bit daunting but very freeing!

MountKilimounjaro · 15/11/2024 06:48

Eek, I was inspired by all of this talk of finding a sense of style to start a thread in Style & Beauty but now I'm slightly terrified. It's a previously uncharted part of Mumsnet for me.

If anyone wants to come and talk fashion I've created a thread there, hopefully I've managed to copy the link correctly:

SnacklessWonder · 15/11/2024 07:33

Haven't been around for a bit as lots of work but hello 👋 and I'll try and catch up later!

My weight isn't really moving now. I keep bouncing around 9st 3/4lb. Not sure what to do. I wanted to start moving back down to 2.5mg now - I'm 4lb away from goal but I'm really not losing weight anymore.

I've got one bonus dose left in my pen so I guess I'll do 5mg on Sunday again and then take it from there. I've got another 5mg pen in the fridge so I can either do 5mg after that or reduce it down. Doesn't feel like the 5mg is working for me now. I'm rather hungry too!

Fromthesidelines · 15/11/2024 07:38

Absolutely getting the uncertainty of what to wear when it's no longer a case of 'this fits and doesn't make me overly conspicuous, so I'll take it'. I'm still a stone from goal, so I'm hoping that will largely come off my still very flabby belly and not the sad remains of my bum.
I didn't start putting weight on until my early 40s but, now I'm in my mid 60's, I'm not sure that my old hippy chic style will work for me now! Anyone know what the stylish granny wears these days?

Weigh day for me and only lost 1lb again so feeling really deflated. I’ve been consistently losing 8-9lb a month since I started (not counting the 20lb first month!) but only lost 3lb in three weeks now. Nothing has really changed, calorie intake and exercise are the same. I’ve even started an aqua fit class so if anything exercise has increased?

just feeling pretty shit that I’ve paid £200 this month to lose 3lb and pretty sure 2lb of that is in hair loss

out of interest, how many calories are people eating a day? I’m aiming for 1,000-1,200 a day. I’m way under at the beginning of the week when I’ve just injected, but at the higher end by the end of the week when the suppression is wearing off?

Forevafatty · 15/11/2024 07:48

Ahhh I'm a bit disheartened at the minute. I'm a slow loser anyway and I'm now 37 pounds down in five months. My weight loss has slowed right down and I've actually stood on the scales today 2 pounds heavier than yesterday. I've only lost a few pounds this whole month.

I'm wondering if part of the problem is that I'm struggling to tolerate 10mg. I have awful diarrhea on it, and have had to scale back to 8.5 - 9. But surely if I'm still in a calorie deficit, I should still be losing?

I wish I'd stayed on 7.5 now. Do you think I could go back to this, or has that ship sailed now and I'd just be starving?

Sorry for the miserable message! The lack of weight loss right now is reminding me of my failed dieting attempts previously. Any help gratefully received.

I'm losing about 1lb a week now, too.

I think that's normal, and to be expected.

Thank you. Do you think it's normal when I've still got so much to lose though? I am less than halfway through and need to lose another 3 stone ish.

I know my weight loss is quite slow compared to many on here (I worked it out as averaging half a stone a month over five months, which I was happy with) but with not really losing the last couple of weeks, I'm starting to feel like my body is letting me down like it always has in diets before!

Yes, normal.

I've still got 5st to lose.

I've slowed right down now.

Since starting MJ in June, I've lost 3st 5lb. I had a huge loss in the first six weeks, then it started to slow.

I started dieting back in January. For six months, I was without MJ. I lost just over 2st. Then I found I couldn't bear to stick to it anymore.

So in June I took the plunge and bought MJ. And that's when things really started to shift.

But for the last month, it's been about 1 - 2lb a week. Sometimes nothing. Just stay static.

But the difference is that I'm not permanently hungry. So I know I'll succeed.

This is really reassuring, thank you so much. What you said makes perfect sense - I know this is sustainable, so I don't need to lose big amounts every week. I'll just keep chipping away at it.

Really well done on your weight loss, both before and after MJ!

TheShellBeach · 15/11/2024 08:24

@GlueNoGlue don't look at it on terms of the cost of MJ.

You're not paying out money and expecting to lose weight in relation to the price of MJ.

It isn't the medication itself which causes the weightloss. It's changing what we eat. And eating less. Even just a little less.

BTW how is it costing you £200 a month? If you use the bonus dose, and get a pen at a good price, it shouldn't be much more than £110 a month.

GlueNoGlue · 15/11/2024 10:21

@TheShellBeach i don’t us the bonus dose, I never have. I buy through Asda so it’s £200 a pen. Maybe I need to shop around a bit, but when I started I wanted a pharmacy that I knew and felt I could trust?

GlueNoGlue · 15/11/2024 10:24

@Forevafatty ah snap! I’ve lost 6 stone so far but was aiming for another stone before Christmas (in 2 months this should have been easily possible, now it’s really unlikely). I’ve had bad side effects the entire way through though, I usually have an upset stomach from Saturday (inject on Friday) through to Tuesday/wednesday? Ive had it since my second month

Welcome!

I totally understand on the exercise front. I struggle with exercise often due to pain.

When you live with a disability there are a lot of hidden barriers to exercise.

I'm not going to be evangelical about the benefits of exercise, sometimes our physical limitations don't align with what we are told we should do. Many people here have only really needed to adapt their diet to see results.

However, if you do decide that you would like to try incorporating some seated exercises, or modified exercises I do strongly recommend Mr Motivator on YouTube. He also often does tiktok livestreams where he shows the adaptations that can be made. It's a complete personal choice.

For everything else we are a lovely bunch and I can't wait to hear all of your updates.

Hi. I can't exercise either.
Various health conditions.

But the MJ has definitely helped me to lose weight.

Good luck.
