Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

Really good item on BBC Breakfast about WLI.
Very balanced and positive and Mounjaro got a mention for a change too.

Snozzlemaid · 13/01/2025 08:31

And there's a Panorama special about the injections tonight.

I'm hoping it continues to be positive to hopefully help move society away from the negative stories we usually see in the media.

Jfw82 · 13/01/2025 12:52

Other than Oushk does anyone know any other suppliers offering maintenance?

Am over 4stone down now and less than a stone to healthy bmi now but ideally want to get down to BMI 21-22 and thinking ahead as don't want to be 'cut off' if I go under BMI 25

Bluenose1966 · 13/01/2025 13:13

@Jfw82 Read about a couple of people recommending Cloud for maintenance. Their maintenance policy below

Just watching this now. At first I thought the commentator said “over 1 in 3 adults in the UK is a beast” 😆. Thankfully realised he actually said ”is obese”

Thanks for this. Interesting read and a lot to think about in terms of best thing to do when I next order

Now these are the auditory processing outcomes I would probably make of it if I didn't have subtitles on.

Reminds me of the first time I heard American girls by the counting crows and I thought who the heck is Mary Cangles?

Medino are making plans to start maintenance programmes.
I was taking to their pharmacist about it last week.

@Paperwhite13 that’s amazing! Congratulations!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 15/01/2025 14:29

DP landed back from Portugal yesterday and hasn't lost the new year new me spirit yet so we've been out and bought new gym clothes today.

I feel like that, in itself, was a workout.

I also wore my smart watch to bed last night and it says I burnt 500 calories from sleeping.

I am taking that as permission to nap more often.

Or you could eat 500 cals of chocolate.

I was sat crocheting yesterday and it kept counting each stitch as a step. I'll take that as a win tbh.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 16/01/2025 10:51

In a shocking turn of events I'm ready for the gym and DP isn't so I'm going alone today.

Since restarting I've had really good suppression on 5mg so I've not had to work my way up to 7.5 again yet which has been wonderful.

I also didn't delete my subscription for bitepal but have used it on whole foods and then used mfp to back it up and I'd say bitepal has given more conservative estimates to calories intaken and I've lost 2lbs using it, although has coincided with me also wearing my smart watch more often and being mindful of my general activity levels and sleep so I will cautiously continue with these 2 tracking methods.

I'll just be hopping on the treadmill today for half an hour as I feel like I do need supervision with machines and weights and DP has suddenly lost his "dedication".

Hoping next week will also be a steady 2lb loss.

Also I feel mad going to the gym in January, it's probably gonna be very busy. Wish me luck.

I had to make a few sacrifices to pay for my mounjaro. But I went through my bank account this morning and found I'd saved £350 by not spending money on coffees, crisps and snacks, expensive (and horrible) food from the corner shop, newspapers and sundry impulse buys of things I don't need. It all added up to an unbelievable amount.
Also doing a two weekly shop from a big supermarket instead of from all over the place.
That has more than covered my MJ plus some for my savings account.

This is how I always know I CAN afford it. Counted up how much I used to spend on takeaways and the random extra shops for snacks, meals out etc - £170 to £200 a month. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 17/01/2025 07:38

It's worth the cost.

I've had family say why keep paying, and not just save up for a sleeve gastrectomy. That was my original plan but I could never afford it in the UK. I had done a lot of research and decided to go with a specific hospital in Turkey, but then when I became a mum the thought of taking a risk like that, flying to get surgery when I've also got a history of pulmonary embolism, as well as the risks like your stomach lining growing on the outside of your stomach, and the NHS not being obligated to treat for private surgery fuck ups just meant that this is the last stop for me now. It's mounjaro or bust.

I don't know why I couldn't stop eating before. It's like I knew everytime I opened the fridge it was wrong and I'd have a voice scream STOP IT but my arms had a mind of their own and I'd do it anyway. Or I'd eat, and then forget I'd eaten and have to go and get more food even though I didn't need it.

I was on the NHS weight loss pathway when I lived in Sheffield and then I moved back home to a different town, and the GP said I had to start again which meant another 2+ year wait at least.

DP has just reached the end of his NHS weight loss journey and they've offered him ozempic, but given his pancreatitis last year he's really apprehensive. They've said there are no NICE guidelines not to prescribe with a history of pancreatitis, and I'm very against the idea but he is struggling with his weight again too.

They've said if he was diabetic they'd offer mounjaro.

Well ive tried ozempic and it didn't do the job for me, and I'm also baffled because ozempic was licensed for diabetes but mounjaro for weight loss so it's confusing me why they'd offer ozempic and also just confirms that it probably isn't the right pathway for me too and I should stick privately.

Genuinely wish there was more factual information being published to the gen pop because it would change the lives of so many, but I hate how it's slyly marketed instead by some providers.

Hi all,

I have not checked in here in a while, life and the new year have been full steam ahead!

I’m currently sitting at 73 kg (having started at 107) and I have about 1 lb until healthy BMI and probably another 7-8 kg until my ultimate goal weight. I can’t believe I’m writing this, because 30 kilos ago I would not have believed it was possible. I would have happily settled at 80 kg. Or 75 kg, and now I’m aiming for 65! I would love to take the next 4-5 months to get there. I am enjoying this slower pace of losing the last 3 months, feels more gentle and sustainable. I am however thinking about what happens after. My plan is to titrate slowly down once at goal and eventually come off MJ. I am not at all opposed to staying on MJ long-term / indefinitely. I am also not opposed to microdosing or injecting every 10-14 days instead of every 7. I think it will help keep me on the straight and narrow. I even have a consultation booked with Oushk to explore their maintenance plans and figure out what works best for me.

However, I am 33 and me and DH have been talking about maybe baby number 2. I would love to start planning for that towards the end of the year, and I know that I would be 1000 times healthier and have such a better pregnancy being 40 kg lighter than last time!! I also didn’t gain much last pregnancy so I am hopeful I can continue eating healthy and exercising throughout etc. But I would lie if I didn’t admit I am PETRIFIED of gaining weight and being unable to re-start MJ again. I never want to be obese again, I am finally feeling like myself after a decade + of obesity. I am loving my new body. And I also want to have another baby and know I will have to be off MJ for a few months before even starting TTC, throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding. But I am terrified that once it’s all done I would like to go back on MJ, and won’t be able to. I feel like I would have such a peace of mind going into it if I know that I could be supported (if I wanted to) as I navigate this next chapter of life, but everyone is saying nobody can do that. Which just makes me more anxious about the future.

Sorry, this was a lot.

Choux · 18/01/2025 08:53

Amazing progress @3wDavid. You must be thrilled at how much life has changed for you.

I can totally see how you would be worried about what happens when you need to have 1-2 years of no Mounjaro due to having a baby. But remember suppliers are still working out how to look after our maintenance and sooner or later others will talk to them about stuff like this and a few of the more receptive / more long term customer minded suppliers will work it out.

Mounjaro was only released in the UK 11 months ago - it's not even been available for a year yet so policies are still being worked out for long term use and maintenance. Suppliers want to keep selling and are looking for ways to do that whilst still being seen to be prescribing responsibly. I think they will figure out what to do about people who have stopped using it and put some weight back on but are not obese again and be able to represcribe to them. And then a baby break is just a longer version of that.

I take HRT and in the last couple of years my GP has stopped asking me when I will come off it and now just accepts that I want to keep taking it so he keeps prescribing it. The thinking around long term use has changed. I think the guidance and suppliers will realise that MJ is a drug that offers long term benefits and weight control support and should be able to be prescribed long term - sometimes with breaks - for non obese patients who have shown they are using it responsibly

Pinkbendyman · 18/01/2025 12:18

Congratulations @3wDavid and it’s good to hear from you.

I completely understand about your fear of gaining weight.

@Choux makes some excellent points about maintenance too.

I reached my final goal weight in November and have been tapering down the strengths with the little stockpile I have. I’m also back at the gym for cardio and weights (and finding everything so much easier now I’m over 4 stone lighter!)

I switched over to Oushk before I reached a healthy BMI as Zava didn’t offer any maintenance plans and have a consultation appointment with them next month.

I have 3 shots of 7.5 left then I'm on my own God knows how ill do it 11lbs left

MelainesLaugh · 18/01/2025 18:58

For the first time in many many years I am in the 13 stone bracket. Totally unbelievable. I’ve gone from 16stone 4lb to 12stone 13lb since August.

Ive just moved up to 10mg and tbh the suppression is too much. I’ve barely been able to eat anything today so I think I’m going to go back down.

Has anyone else noticed too that there are new style pens that you can’t get the bonus dose out of with the hard twist? I’ve never had a problem doing it but the last one I tried the plunger didn’t work after I’d done the hard twist.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2025 22:07

I’ve been thinking about mj for those who are diabetic - what happens if they get preg

I get they can’t say use While preg as hasn’t been tested in trials

but surely it’s the same ?

Are you not going to reduce down rather then cold turkey

murraymcgill · 18/01/2025 22:35

@Blondeshavemorefun can't afford anymore I don't have a choice 😕
