Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

I am also on a massive reduction on UPF especially if given its role leading to me becoming the size I was 6 weeks ago. So I bump up my protein with nuts, eggs, pumpkin seeds, fish - fresh & tinned (even developed a liking for herring), throw chickpeas into everything. I do use protein yoghurt though having more away from the very low fat/zero fat alternatives

Azuresky68 · 10/12/2024 09:06

Good morning. I don't usually post on here as I am on the August starters thread. After 22 weeks I have 7 pounds to get to my goal and on my 3rd 10 mg dose. Just wondered if more experienced users can advise? What's going on? I jabbed 10 mg last Wednesday, and suppression was OK Thursday. On Friday I went to two parties but didn't go mad at all, although I went over my calories. Saturday and Sunday kept to under 1000 calories, and on Monday, I couldn't face eating at all..literally had nothing until 5 pmI I made a chicken and veg soup and struggled to eat it! I had Greek yoghurt mixed with protein powder later on. This morning, I woke up feeling bloated and still dont feel hungry. Tomorrow is jab day. Very confusing 😕

Azuresky68 · 10/12/2024 09:08

@3wDavid fantastic loss and well done. You must be over the moon. All the very best when you start maintenance.

PermanentTemporary · 10/12/2024 12:08

@Azuresky funny I'm having a Jab Eve day like that today. If I've had either pulses or more protein/fattier protein the previous day, I definitely get a resurgence of burps and feeling full. Imo it just fluctuates a bit.

I'm coming up on one and a half stone down. So far people are just telling me my hair looks good...

JusteanBiscuits · 10/12/2024 12:48

I was coming to post that on a Monday night (i inject on Tuesday) I am always STARVING in that feel sick kind of way. But... I am able to not give into it. And I had one mince pie last night instead of 3.

Just had first 12.5mg jab. In 28 weeks I've lost 21.4kg. So not the fastest weight loss in history, but fairly steady. Since getting up to 7.5mg I am losing a kg a week, fairly steadily, with minimal side effects which I really appreciate. A dried prune a day seems to be helping with the constipation.

Same loss as me! Nobody really knew I had gained a stone as I managed to hide it quite well! I have lost 8 inches off my waist since August..that's where a lot of the stone was 😱 hidden under baggy tops worn with elasticated waist 👖

PermanentTemporary · 10/12/2024 17:50

Kind of wish I'd measured before starting... I never measure my waist as even putting the measurements into an app causes the techbros at the other end to have a coronary and it's depressing. But there are an awful lot of trousers I can do up and things I can bend over to do these days.

10kg buddies [high five]

Doggymummar · 10/12/2024 17:54

Can I ask about the bonus dose?? I've never used it before, but this time there seems to be a lot in my pen so I was going to try.

Tomorrow I am due to go to 10mg, do I take the bonus dose, and then the 10mg meaning maybe 17.5mg on the same day, which seems a big jump, or do I do the bonus dose and go up to 10mg next week? So it might just be 3 or 4mg or as much as 7mg for a 5th week?

GetrudeCoppard · 10/12/2024 17:56

I just treat the bonus dose as a standard dose and use the new pen a week later.

Definitely don't take 17.5mg on the same day!

I'm guessing you have a 7.5mg pen? If so, depending on how much you've used by priming, you could have a 10mg dose in there but you would need an insulin syringe to extract it from the pen and then inject it. A lot of people have reported that the "hard twist" method doesn't seem to be working on newer pens.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 10/12/2024 18:05

Hi @Doggymummar - as a pp says use the bonus dose as an extra at that dosage - you will find it will actually be higher than the dose you are currently on but lower than the next dose up so I've found it quite a good way to bridge the two.

I've also found it very easy to get all of the remaining medication out of the pen using an insulin needle - you just draw it out until there is none left in the pen. You can buy those needles at a chemist or online easily enough.

SilenceInside · 10/12/2024 18:07

@Doggymummar don't take two doses to make 17.5mg! The highest dose you should ever take is 15mg as anything higher can make you very unwell.

The remaining liquid in your 7.5mg pen can be used to take another 7.5mg dose, if you want to stay on that dosage for another week. It delays you starting your 10mg pen till next week. If you use an insulin syringe to extract the remaining liquid from your 7.5mg you may find you get a bit more than the standard dose, say 0.7ml rather than the usual 0.6ml in a standard dose. 0.7ml would make a dose of 8.75mg for example from a 7.5mg pen. That would be a small step up from 7.5mg rather than going straight to 10mg on your new pen.

I hope that makes sense. But the bottom line is do not take 17.5mg!

Doggymummar · 10/12/2024 18:09

Thank you. I remember now why I haven't used it, because the hard twist doesn't work on my pens and I'm too squeamish for an insulin needle☺️. So I won't be doing that, thank you for your quick answers

GetrudeCoppard · 10/12/2024 18:16

I have to get my husband to do the hard twist as I’m not strong enough.

SilenceInside · 10/12/2024 18:18

I use a pair of pliers to do it, as my grip strength isn't sufficient to do it by hand.

simb · 10/12/2024 18:24

Had anybody had any luck with the hard twist method with a more recent pen? Mine didn't work last time and I'm coming up to needing to try again... rather hoping there is still a chance of it working as I don't really want to use insulin needles...

MounjaroMunchie · 10/12/2024 19:47

Using the insulin syringes is no more difficult / painful than using the pen, but I acknowledge that they can be a bit scarier, visually! I always use a syringe for my bonus dose (where did the term "golden" dose come from?) and it's been really useful to be able to extract that wee bit extra to use as a bridge between one dose strength and the next.

Doggymummar · 10/12/2024 21:08

Hmm. I'm scared I'll pierce an organ! I'm imagining a syringe like a flu jab or taking blood.

imnottoofussed · 10/12/2024 22:20

You can buy shorter ones. Mine are 8mm length so not much different to the normal pen needle

NearlyNewHip · 11/12/2024 08:39

Today I shall have a mince pie!!! I've been thinking about it for a few days, then forgetting, then remembering but forgot to buy any.... so today is the day. I will buy a box, have one, thoroughly enjoy it and give the rest away in the office. Currently deciding whether to nip to Greggs or Waitrose on the way in

Whoops. I bought some and forgot about them 😂

Did pop into town for some Christmas things and treat myself to a German sausage from the mini Christmas market though and I am having regrets.

I don't think I've ever been quite so flatulent in my life. Feel like a whoopie cushion. At least now I know German sausage is off the table for the foreseeable.

Hi @simb I can only get a hard twist using a pair of pliers, then it works easily. Just grasp the pen end in the pliers and then you can twist with the other hand

I tried today, but the spring doesn't work. Jabbed myself four times and nothing came out so opened a new pen

Yes this is what happened to me last time! Sadly it seems that they've cracked down on this method working... oh well! I will try it next week and report back. I'm still interested to know if anyone has had recent success with the new pens

GlueNoGlue · 11/12/2024 15:04

NSV- went to the panto this weekend and my arse fit comfortably in the seat!!!! Didn’t spend the entire show worrying I was encroaching on the person next to me and shifting towards my child, actually had wiggle room!
