Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

@3wDavid well done on 5 stone, epic. I feel terrible as I through out ten protein yogurts today that were best before the end of November. I was buying stuff and not eating it too. I hate waste.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 07/12/2024 18:47

@3wDavid congratulations! 5 stone loss is amazing.

It is the season to be merry, and you're still making losses, and you're so close!

5 stone?? Absolutely amazing 💐

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2024 20:20

You have done so well @TheShellBeach

Wouldn't your doc know tho

My supplier informed mine

No. Medino only tell your doctor if you let them.
That's why I went with them.
That, and their prices.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2024 20:23

Why didn't you want your doc to know @TheShellBeach ?

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/12/2024 20:33

@Doggymummar Are you eating properly?
I saw you post something either here or on another thread we are both on about nausea/ick and thought it might be worth sharing that I find plain food and eating regularly helps me so I will be better if I eat e.g. fruit and a bit of yoghurt at breakfast, soup and toast at lunch, then meat with veg for dinner, even if the portions are small, rather than attempting thicker and heavier things like protein yoghurts.
I have found that, if I eat less the nausea worsens. It's a bit like morning sickness in that respect!

TheShellBeach · 07/12/2024 20:38

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2024 20:23

Why didn't you want your doc to know @TheShellBeach ?

Because she has been as much use as a chocolate teapot as far as weight loss is concerned.

I don't think that telling people to eat less and exercise more is terribly helpful. Nor is it sound medical advice, as we all know.

If it was that easy, nobody would be fat.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2024 20:56

Tbh most doctors say that. Mine did

TheShellBeach · 07/12/2024 20:58

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2024 20:56

Tbh most doctors say that. Mine did

Yes. So that's why they don't need to be told that you've taken real steps to lose weight

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 21:39

@QueenOfHiraeth thanks for asking. I'm gonna say no. I only lose on less than 1000 cals and I have 100pc suppression and could easily not eat for days, but I still aren't really losing. I have today earten tho, a Greggs steak bake and Carolina Reaper chicken strips. I'm looking forward to some vegetables tomorrow when the shop comes. I'm gonna try harder next week. I finish for Christmas on Wednesday so will have no excuse to be lazy with my food. I've ordered soup. Yoghurt and vegetables.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/12/2024 21:55

@Doggymummar I went down a very big rabbit hole when I first started this and watched a lot of TikTok lives with American doctors who have used GLP1s for much longer than we have over here. Most of them stressed we should not aim for too much suppression and, if their patients hit that, they reduce the dose. They suggested aiming for a point where the appetite is reduced but you still feel hunger as you have to be able to eat healthily both in the short and the longer term, once on maintenance.
They also said they find patients who are not eating enough are often cold, tired, nauseous and not losing weight. Do you think you might be hitting that point?
Having said that steak bakes and processed food is likely to cause nausea for many of us on this medication because of the fat content so, hopefully you'll feel better once you get your fresh stuff delivered. Good luck with it x

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 22:51

Thanks, I've been on it since March 23 and I've never been cold or tired. The nausea is sometimes food related. I cant taste anything anymore unless it's really strong so I don't fancy anything. I'm just having a bad few days. This time last year I had stopped medication and gained 10lb over Christmas which took me until a couple of weeks ago to lose and I don't want to do that again this year hence listening to my body, which has been saying no thanks, I don't want anything. Today all I've been thinking of is sprouts and bacon, so I'm looking forward to that. Soup is always a good call as it's nutritional and easy to swallow. I only get 30 mins for lunch and have to take the dog out in that time so it's not always easy to get something nutritional at lunch.

I am 4lb off my pre COVID weight, which psychologically is huge for me as that it probably the lowest I have been in a decade. My partner is Autistic and Arfid so we often don't have anything healthy in as he pretty much just eats KFC or his own version he makes himself.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/12/2024 23:13

@Doggymummar That all sounds very hard for you.
I'm one of those people whose world has always been food-centred so I worry for anyone not eating!

DH and I are absolutely opposite you and your DH as I am always thinking of food and cooking and my DH is happy to eat anything but food is just fuel to him so he eats intuitively and is still the same size as when we met where I am almost twice the woman he met!
You and I have 2 things in common though - homemade soup and pre-Covid weight Grin
I hit mine this week and am simultaneously thrilled and appalled it has taken this long and been this hard

JamieFrasersSassenach · 08/12/2024 10:10

@Pinkbendyman I thought I was going to have to confess to DH the other day as he cleared our fridge out in preparation for a new one being delivered and my pens are concealed in a coffee tin hidden at the back of the fridge. He had put the coffee tin in the tea/coffee cupboard.
I very stealthily re-hid it at the back of the new fridge when he wasn't about and prayed he wouldn't say anything (he didn't!)
I actually don't know why I'm worried about him knowing now - it's definitely working and I'm not using our joint finances to pay for it.
But I still don't feel comfortable telling anyone else about it, although more and more colleagues are mentioning my weight loss to me, I'm still saying it's through smaller portions and cutting right down on crap and alcohol - which is true.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 08/12/2024 10:18

@Paperwhite13 out of interest how long did it take for your first order to be approved by Oushk?

Mine is still saying being processed nearly a week on, I thought it said someone would be in touch for a video consultation but nothing yet. I can see the letter to my doctor on my account but as yet there is nothing on my GP record when I check online in there so I don't know if it's been sent yet.

I completely get the feeling of not panicking about an outfit for going out - it's wonderful! It sounds as though we have a very similar amount of weight left to lose - I think 7kg loss which is approx 15lbs is my target - although I will see if I feel 'right' before then or even if I need to lose a few more after that. It's such a strange (nice) feeling to feel in control of where I will call target - I'm so used to just never getting anywhere near what I would like and giving up and putting it all back on plus some more!!

Paperwhite13 · 08/12/2024 10:32

@JamieFrasersSassenach honestly, it was around a day I think... maybe they're just busier with it being before Christmas? Although, I ordered a second pen around Black Friday and that only took around a day too. It might be worth sending them an email? I also didn't have to do a video consultation either.

Very similar amounts left to lose! It's nice to see the end isn't it?! But I'm like you, very 'easy' on the GW and just going to see how I feel/ look as I continue to lose. It's also the first time I've EVER got within a stone of GW.

It's nice to hear from you @3wDavid and more of a relief to hear that the hair loss has slowed. I'm starting to panic slightly at how bad mine is atm, hopefully it'll stop once I'm at GW. Congrats on the 5st loss and amazing news that you're so close to target.

Bluenose1966 · 08/12/2024 11:13

@JamieFrasersSassenach My Oushk order took about a week to authorise. I think it was because I didn’t want it delivered for a couple of weeks.
I know the application form says you will require a video call, Howe mine was approved without. Assume they only do that if they have any queries.

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/12/2024 13:43

@JamieFrasersSassenach My pens are hidden in a package in the fridge vegetable drawer, my reasoning being that nobody in this house eats or cooks vegetables unless I tell them to, and my cleaner is not likely to check the pack if she decides to be ultra-helpful and wipe the shelves!

I have had a bit of a realisation or maybe more of a reinforcing what we all know but try not to think about.

I posted the other day about being in a very grouchy snit and was craving something to eat but didn't know what so I decided to have a day or two off my eating plan and eat whatever I fancied. That was tough in itself as my cravings have more or less vanished but, yesterday, I had a really lovely croissant with salted butter and strawberry jam for breakfast, a bag of prawn cocktail crisps at lunchtime and half a portion of sweet and sour chicken with a couple of spoons of fried rice and a few prawn crackers for tea. I enjoyed them all, probably had slightly more calories, lower protein and fibre than normal but not anything like I used to eat pre-MJ. By bedtime I was starving!
It has made me realise (yet again!) that eating processed food is a big part of my problem and it is not just the MJ that is helping me lose weight, it is the healthy way of eating I am using alongside it 😊

Pumpkinforever · 08/12/2024 14:07

I agree @QueenOfHiraeth my consumption of processed food has plummeted over the past 5 weeks. So I guess I am not consuming as many hidden calories and I am now eating stuff that makes me feel fuller for longer

JamieFrasersSassenach · 08/12/2024 18:10

@QueenOfHiraeth the vegetable/salad draw would be the worst place for me to hide my pens - everyone in this house loves salad & veg so they would be discovered in no time at all!

I completely get what you say about processed foods - I've had the odd day at work where I've been very stressed and have eaten a biscuit or two - I then don't eat my lunch because I feel really full up. If only I could harness that forever and be happy with one or two biscuits (rather than a whole packet!) I don't think I've eaten a packet of crisps since I started using Mounjaro.

Tonight's dinner will be salad with baby potatoes and a very small slice of quiche - pre MJ there would also have been lots of cheese and bread as well and some sort of pudding afterwards. I just really hope that I can stay off of the processed stuff once I'm at my goal weight.

That's interesting @Bluenose1966 - I've asked for my first pen to come at the beginning of January so that could be why it's taking longer to process. I have dropped Oushk an email today enquiring about it so hopefully I will hear from them tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone!! Smile

Hi all I’ve been following this chat for some time now and thought I would join.
First I have found it very helpful, informative, honest and supportive . Your words have really helped my journey .
For all of that I thank you all.
about me:
SW 95 kg
CW 82 kg
GW 65 kg
I have been on Mounjaro for 7 weeks and have lost 13kg 2 stone .
It is such a relief to have finally found something where I am confident that I will finally reach a healthy BMI
The only side effects I have had are tiredness and dehydration ( when I don’t focus on drinking enough water)plus some feeling cold and constipation . The latter sorted by daily multi Vegetable soup.
I had suppression and prolonged fullness from the start. I’m on 5mg my next pen ( ordered ) is 7.5 mg
i am eating small heathy meals 3 x day no picking . I have gone out for meals and eaten lightly no residual guilt or discomfort.
I find I’m not interested in greasy or sweet food ( have leftover chocolate in the cupboard - untouched) but I still like bread in small amounts
i exercise every day - I cold water swim and walk my dog long walks
I weigh my self weekly and the loss has slowed down but I’m not worried as a small loss shows more now.
it’s expensive but I recon I was spending that on rubbish food and larger quantities.
My next step is planning for the future - how I’m going to maintain my GW
Finally I have told friends and family. I think these meds are life changing and I feel it’s important to spread the word and I’m proud of myself for committing so whole heartedly to it

JusteanBiscuits · 09/12/2024 17:34

Having just read the "what we ate today..." thread, everyone seems to be having protein shakes, or protein yogurts etc.. can I ask why??

Mounjaro has made me go off carbs, so my meals have been pretty much protein plus veg. Life is always such a rush that I fail to plan lunch so tend to have a tin of tuna or similar with some veg to snack on.

Should I be adding more protein into my diet?

IrisPallida · 09/12/2024 18:01

No. Protein shakes etc etc are Ultra Processed items and full of shit, and totally unnecessary unless you are a professional body builder - or very occasionally if you cannot actually eat. It is just the fad de jour.

It is easy to get sufficient protein and even a small excess, from a calorie controlled diet. 300g of fish or meat/chicken plus some dairy/legumes/seeds will do it.

JusteanBiscuits · 09/12/2024 18:38

Thank you @IrisPallida . That's really helpful. I don't think I could manage to drink a protein shake at the moment anyway. And I avoid UPF where I can (not perfect, because I am not making ketchup, or soy sauce etc etc!!) so that makes me feller better.

Doggymummar · 09/12/2024 18:49

I don't find it easy at all to get my protein in, just looked back over three weeks and only hit it once 😭. I haven't resorted to have a protein shakes, but I do have cottage cheese or a 25g protein yoghurt or pudding to get closer.
