Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

@TheShellBeach @QueenOfHiraeth @Pinkbendyman @pinktransit I am starting to get lots of people at work noticing my weight loss and asking how I have done it.

I have told no-one - not even DH, that I am using Mounjaro. I think I'm worried that people will try to talk me out of using it or think that I'm cheating, so I have very honestly been saying that I have cut down on my portion sizes, stopped eating so much rubbish like crisps and chocolate and cut right down on alcohol.

When I'm asked how much I've lost I say I'm not sure but I think around 2 stone. It's actually almost 3 stone but I'm just not comfortable telling people that. It's odd because whenever I've lost weight before on WW or SW I've been delighted to tell people everything they want to know about what I'm doing and how it's going, whereas this time I just want to carry on very quietly in the corner with no fuss or attention.

I've got between 5 & 10 kg left to lose - I'm not sure at what point I'll stop. I'm in the process of changing suppliers to Oushk so that I can use a maintenance dose if I feel I need to and they will tell my GP.

I also have some lovely black loafers - M&S leather ones that I bought this time last year - that are way too big now, I'm sad about that as if my feet get any smaller the shoes simply won't stay on!

@Scarletstenfeettall this thread is amazing for support - the only reason I found out about Mounjaro was stumbling across one of the early threads, lurking for months and then in July finally taking the plunge and ordering it. I read it/catch up with how everyone is doing every single day.

@TheShellBeach you have done brilliantly and must feel very thin & deservedly so!

Keep going everyone!!

Pinkbendyman · 06/12/2024 10:09

@JamieFrasersSassenach I’ve not told a single person either, not even my DH or 2 adult DS. I think initially it was because I was worried it might not work and would be a waste of my money!

Gettingbysomehow · 06/12/2024 10:16

I'm really confused by mounjaro dosing. I need to be sure before I take the golden dose.
I'm on 2.5 mgs.
The syringe says, "4 doses of 0.6ml solution 2.4 mls solution that can be administered. What does that mean?
So do I administer 0.6 of a ml or 2.4 mls?
Im absolutely rubbish at maths, i don't want to overdose myself.
There is about 2.4 mls left in the syringe so I'm assuming 2.4 mls.

InspectorGidget · 06/12/2024 10:17

Hi @sshk

It wasn't 5 weeks altogether. It's every 5 weeks I have a stay the same or a small gain.

I've just had to acknowledge a gain this week but I was out on Saturday night and was rather tipsy and had a kebab!

I've accepted that my loss is slow and steady but for me it's now that last attempt to be a healthy weight as I approach 50 and I think I may even take this drug well beyond maintenance.

SilenceInside · 06/12/2024 10:22

@Gettingbysomehow Each dose is 0.6ml, regardless of pen strength in mg. So if you want to use the remaining liquid in the pen, presumably using a separate syringe, then to do a full dose (2.5mg in your case) you need 0.6ml.

The whole pen contains 2.4ml plus extra liquid which is meant to be used for priming. There is always some liquid left over because priming sometime only produces a tiny drop. The remaining liquid is usually around 0.6ml, sometimes a bit more or sometimes a bit less depending on how much came out when you primed the 4 normal injections.

You can't have 2.4ml left in the syringe if you have already administered 4 normal injections (4 x 0.6 which is 2.4ml in total). Can you upload a photo of your pen?

Paperwhite13 · 06/12/2024 10:33

I've recently changed to Oushk because I'm nearing maintenance and I'm really impressed so far @JamieFrasersSassenach . I think I'll order one more pen and then start a maintenance plan with them.

I have 15lbs until GW and the weight loss has significantly slowed (I'm definitely not eating over my allowance and have adjusted for the lower BMR) and it's frustrating. I think it's likely as I have less to lose now but I'm still overweight (25.9 BMI) so it's not as if there's nothing to lose.

On a more positive note, I'm going out tomorrow with a group of old friends from school (who are all v-slim) and I'm not dreading going/ haven't spent £100+ on a 'slimming' outfit and I'm not going to be the one offering to take all the photos, so that's a nice change.

I'm in a real snit today. DS1 has irritated me, DD has irritated me, DH has just arrived home and it's only a matter of time until he irritates me too!
There's nothing has made me narky, I just am, but it's worse than usual because I want to eat something but can't decide what I want and everything I think of gives me ick. Think I may have to award myself a gin!

Snap!

I've been really struggling because all of my usual go to foods have either been changed somehow or substituted in the online shop, and I've been living off prawns and chicken thighs and I just want something salty or tangy or sweet or spicy but nothing that we have in with those flavours are actually what I want so now I feel really short changed of food.

I'll be happy when christmas is over and done with. Even the christmas bries taste off this year.

I know what you mean about Brie I was on this last Christmas and so much stuff tasted wrong. I had Bailey's earlier and it tasted of sick. I had to ask my oh if it had gone off! I have a glass of my favourite expensive red wine I only get at Christmas and I have been drinking the same 175ml glass for three days.

A banana yoghurt earlier, the dog finished. I don't know what I fancy. Meanwhile other half is tucking into KFC with rice

NearlyNewHip · 06/12/2024 20:01

I had that last week...all I wanted was something tangy and had nothing here. Ordered some little pickled onions ( the nice white ones...silver something) and they're sort of doing the trick for me x

Edited

I've really gone off baileys but aldis ballycastle classic is quite nice. Their other cheap Irish cream liquer is probably more disgusting than baileys tbh though. I've been not so quietly putting hints out to the people who usually gift me baileys that the £4.99 aldis version is absolutely delicious and I can't believe the price of baileys these days. I don't know if I'm making a rod for my own back though as they might double down and think baileys is a fiscal luxury for me or something.

I saw someone make their own Irish cream and it's almost all the same stuff as eggnog which I seem to be making every other day at this rate minus the eggs obviously, so I might switch it up and see what I can create.

I can only taste really strong things now. A packet of salt and vinegar Discos just hit the spot.

I'm not ashamed to admit that this week I've eaten 2 jars of very lazy chopped ginger... solo. Not accompanying any other food. Maybe we should start our own pickles and ferments club.

NearlyNewHip · 06/12/2024 20:34

I dont know what it is, but when I do really fancy something, I'm convinced it has to be a sharp taste. Did go a bit mad and now have gherkins, pickled onions, posh pickle (think it's caramelised onion, nice on a cracker, don't really fancy the cheese), sauerkraut and pickled onion monster munch. Will prob never fancy any of it again 😂

KrankyKumquat · 06/12/2024 20:39

Yep I'm the same with Aldi's salt and vinegar rice cakes. Make you purse your lips, lovely with marmite

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/12/2024 21:19

@Jimmyneutronsforehead I have a recipe for coffee cream which is very similar to Baileys and is nice, I'll dig it out although I'm not sure it's appropriate when we are all trying to lose weight. Maybe I could whack some collagen or whey in and claim it's high protein Grin

I don't know how you can all eat pickles and ginger, etc. I'm a proper wimp and have tastes like a toddler so can't cope with anything strong, spicy, fermented or vinegary. Maybe this is part of my snit, like the rest of you I want something different but there's nothing different to try that I don't already hate!

GlueNoGlue · 06/12/2024 21:29

Weigh day for me, another 2lb down. Still aiming to be down the full 7 stone by Christmas. Means I’ve got just over two weeks to lose 5lb. Might be doable. Not sure

SW- 20 stone 2lb
CW- 13 stone 7lb
TW- 13 stone 2lb

for those discussing how to explain the weight loss, I’m telling everyone who asks about mounjaro. It’s done such an amazing job for me, I’m happy to share! You wouldn’t believe how many others have tried it and it’s not gone well, or are considering it but unsure, or who are on something similar! In my children’s school there are 6 in one of those groups! I’ve never felt judged or been accused of cheating. I did see the women on reception at the gym clearly talking about me today though! Not in a bad way, but they were all clumped together and looking at me as I left my class :)

OrangesAndLemonz · 07/12/2024 09:58

Morning all. I am trying to reorder 5ml pen from care pharmacy. My last order was 8th October because I got that UTI I mentioned on here, and I couldn’t face taking MJ while poorly.

the pharmacy asked why I had a break. Told them UTI. They’re asking how long I had a break for - if you have a break of a certain period will they not dispense the pen?

ive not been able to ever take full dose of 5, max I’ve taken is 3.75 as suppression is strong enough for me on that.

so I had a total break for 2 weeks but been taking dose of 3 since then.

do pharmacies frown on us taking less than full dose? I don’t want to tell them something that’ll mean they refuse to dispense it.

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 10:10

I had to start over from 2.5 when I had a break, it was really annoying as I'm still on 7.5, six months yo get back to full strength. I think over two weeks you have to start over. And yes, I'd not tell them you are splitting the dose. My mum's a pharmacist and they have to tell you to take it correctly.

OrangesAndLemonz · 07/12/2024 13:39

@Doggymummar thank you that’s really helpful! I didn’t know that.

Gettingbysomehow · 07/12/2024 13:54

This is ridiculous. I went up to 5mgs on Friday and thought it didn't work. Today I went to make lunch and didn't want anything in the house it was instant nope. Went to make a coffee and it tasted horrible, I couldn't touch it, I normally drink about 10 a day.
I think I'm going to starve to death. I feel revolted by all of it.

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 15:35

Yes @Gettingbysomehow I'm the same. I ate a banana yoghurt yesterday which I shared with the dog. And a packet of discos. Then I had a Greggs sausage and bean pasty for breakfast today. I've been drinking the same glass of wine for three days(chucked it down the sink now). Everything revolts me. Baileys tasted of sick, and I can usually drink a litre over two nights no problems.

PermanentTemporary · 07/12/2024 15:40

I've found plain fruit and veg the easiest when nothing appeals - sometimes porridge made with water, or chickpeas. Tbh the effect does settle down ime.

3wDavid · 07/12/2024 17:12

It’s been a while since I’ve been here last (work is crazy busy this time of year, and everything else that comes with Christmas!) but it’s amazing to see everyone hitting milestones, goals, NSVs, getting compliments etc. Well done everyone!!!

Quick update from me: I hit a 5 stone loss today. And I’m literally 5 lbs off a healthy BMI! Everyone around me is noticing and commenting and asking and complimenting which feels amazing but also overwhelming. I’ve not shared it’s MJ, so feel like an imposter a little bit.
Hair loss has stopped. It was shedding like crazy at one point.
I am more lax with food and allow myself the odd glass of wine. As a result, weight loss has slowed from the usual 2 lb per week to 1 lb per week but that’s totally ok by me.
Also I’m now on 7.5 mg.
I do have some cravings for chocolate again, but nothing too bad. I don’t have any icks per se, but my toxic habit is doing the food shop, things sound appealing in the moment, but once they’re in the fridge at home I want nothing to do with them.. 🙈
