Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

Wow @GlueNoGlue - 6 stone!! That is amazing - really well done 👏

@Slimstar13 - 8 stone - that's more than my very (naturally) slim colleague weighs - huge congratulations to you 🥳

I'm sorry to sound repetitive but this stuff is bloody brilliant!! How much has it changed so many lives? And all of us all saying the same thing about food noise.

I feel vindicated that my life long weight problems have not been because I'm lazy or greedy or weak willed, but because I'm missing/lacking a hormone.

We have all been treated badly by society and the diet industry for something we have no control over, until now. And now that we have 'a cure' we have the British media trying to scaremonger us into remaining obese by saying that weight loss injections will mean we end up in hospital or dead.

And yet on these threads, every single day we have this amazing supportive network of so many people who are safely losing weight and reaching a healthy BMI or on target to do so.

It seems to me that we all have a far greater risk of ending up cutting short our lives because of obesity than because of Mounjaro.

I am so grateful for these threads - as I said yesterday, without them I would never have known about Mounjaro and certainly would not have tried it and got myself to a healthy BMI.

I'd like to think that we are, very quietly, leading a weight loss revolution!!

Anyhow I'm off of my soapbox now - keep going everyone!! 😍

@Pinkbendyman what a transformation - you look fantastic! 👏

@Slimstar13 @Fromthesidelines @JamieFrasersSassenach and everybody else.
I don't know how relevant this is but I worked, some time ago, with bariatric patients and it is widely accepted that they lose weight after their procedures then there is always almost always a rebound, hopefully not too large of one, but it is after that their weight usually stabilises (if eating is kept under control).
I wonder if we GLP1 patients will follow the same pattern?

It might be likely as those procedures affect the hunger hormones as do GLP1s but I haven't seen any evidence as yet.

@Slimstar13 It takes time for the brain to adjust to body changes. Apparently that is why teenage boys are so clumsy, their brain has not adjusted to a larger body so is permanently off-kilter!
Just think of yourself as a teenager in reverse and give it time.
It's probably good to have a bit of leeway in case of a small regain but also bear in mind that it can take time for the body to readjust and redistribute itself.

A personal trainer I know says she often has clients, particularly older ladies who are unhappy with the results of weight loss but after a few months it is as though the body has adjusted at the new weight and they look better and feel great

SnacklessWonder · 29/11/2024 20:12

@QueenOfHiraeth My friend lost about 10 stone through a gastric band. Had a lot of painful surgery on arms and tummy to remove excess skin and...put all that weight back on within about 2 years.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 29/11/2024 20:33

@QueenOfHiraeth that is really interesting. If our stomachs shrink because we have reduced food consumption, then maybe it will follow a similar pattern? However, I imagine it doesn't take much to re-increase stomach capacity, especially when it hasn't been reduced by surgery. I don't think it explains the role that GLP1 plays in appetite either as I can't see how physical surgery would affect hormone levels and/or production?

I also wonder if we GLP1 patients were born without enough of the hormone or if an illness or condition caused production of it to slow/stop?

Whatever it is I really hope that lots of research is carried out into the role of GLP1 in obesity and that it results in obesity being seen as a disease rather than self-inflicted condition.

Hello again everyone! It's fantastic to read so many positive stories on here!

I have a quick question again, please. I am about to reorder from IQ Doctor, and it asks for my current weight and if I've had any side effects. I want to say that I've had some bouts of diarrhea, because I don't like to lie on medical forms, but I'm worried that they'll then stop prescribing. Would they do this for such a common side effect? What would you do?

Thank you for any advice 😊

Doggymummar · 29/11/2024 21:12

I always say no to side effects, I have a tiny bit of heartburn but no bad enough to medicated, so figure it doesn't count

Fromthesidelines · 29/11/2024 21:14

@QueenOfHiraeth @Slimstar13
There's a lot to think about, both in the weight loss journey and when and how to stop. And so much we don't fully understand about obesity and how these drugs work. Pharmacies are also clearly feeling their way, with stances on when they will stop prescribing and if and how they will support maintenance very varied and evolving all the time. We just have to muddle through I think and do what feels right for us.

PermanentTemporary · 29/11/2024 21:16

I've named side effects and then said they've resolved, which is mostly true (I seem to have a shorter menstrual cycle which is continuing). I've always named at least one side effect and they've sometimes asked more questions but haven't refused to prescribe.

MelainesLaugh · 29/11/2024 21:16

Is anyone else struggling to get comfy with their less fatty bum? Mine feels so boney now!

I’m 5lb off of losing 3 stone since August

No not yet

GlueNoGlue · 29/11/2024 21:24

@MelainesLaugh not my bum, but my knee bones rub against each other during the night and it annoys me! Never thought I’d complain about that!

As long as you make it clear that the diarrhoea is occasional and clears up quickly, they won't stop prescribing MJ.

Forevafatty · 29/11/2024 22:03

Thank you all. I'll put it but make it clear it resolves quickly.

Sorry to ask, but does anyone else have some diarrhea a day or two after injecting most weeks? It doesn't last long - usually only a few hours.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/11/2024 22:09

@Forevafatty I declared nausea as a side effect and my provider sent me an email asking more details, presumably to check if it was serious, longlasting, etc. They approved the request after I sent in my answers confirming I was OK but sent me a follow-up email of advice on dealing with side effects

@JamieFrasersSassenach Gastric sleeves and bypasses remove part of the stomach that produces ghrelin (hunger hormone) so, as well as making the stomach smaller, they reduce the appetite
GLP1 increases fullness and satiety so they are kind of achieving the same thing from opposite sides. The patient is able to eat less, one from reduced appetite and one from increased satiety. I agree it will be interesting to see new learning coming into practice as time goes forward.
Just pre-Covid I worked with a bariatric specialist nurse who had been to a conference in America and was telling me what seemed, at the time, to be revolutionary stuff like obesity was a chronic illness that required ongoing treatment. Fascinating that we are seeing those things now accepted in the mainstream and I hope, like you said, that the ongoing learning can help us all.

Yes. It stops if I take loperamide.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 30/11/2024 11:53

@QueenOfHiraeth that is so interesting about ghrelin and GLP1.

Fingers crossed that the learning continues

Oh yes, I've got those scales.

They told me I had the body of an 86 year old, the first time I stood on them.

Hmm

And I take it you're not 86 😂

JamieFrasersSassenach · 30/11/2024 12:26

@TheShellBeach - are these the scales you have?

Gettingbysomehow · 30/11/2024 12:19

Actually I'm 68.

So maybe it just got the numbers the wrong way round.
🤣

Paperwhite13 · 30/11/2024 14:42

I'm also a victim of the scales.. had me at 43 and I'm 31!

I've just done an online order and ordered M, M, S and S! One of those is a pair of socks but still! It used to be XL or XXL.

PermanentTemporary · 30/11/2024 16:11

I've dropped a dress size. My size 20s which were getting to be on the tight side are now loose, and the 18s fit.

Pumpkinforever · 30/11/2024 16:13

Oh yes - good news @PermanentTemporary that is one of my goals which I hope to achieve by Christmas

well done 👏🏻👏🏻
