Hi everyone,

I know that a form etc for medical advice isn’t usually the best and I’m hesitant on whether I tell my GP or if this is completely normal.
(i guess as it’s so popular right now if someone else has stuck through it, it will give me less fear with these side effects)

I looked into mounjaro a lot before buying, ever forum I could and did try get an app with GP but was impatient and thought i’ll not take one up when it all seemed positive. Bought from recognised pharmacy. As heard some horror stories too!

i took 2.5 for the first time after tea last night so 6ish, within few hours I started getting abnominal cramp pains. Through night woke at 1am with diaherra and was sick. Tried to sleep it off and now woke again with more of the same. I don’t think I could put my body through this again. I had my gallbladder removed this year after birth then ended up in hospital with complications due to blocked bile duct and nearly died so i’m hoping for this not to happen from it! (I sound extreme but it was so traumatic that experience)

I wanted a quick fix after years of binge eating struggling with weight i’m 15st and 5ft6 i wanted to better my health after what happened. I know exercise and calorie deficit but my moods just end up giving up all the time and cycle of never managing to lose it!

has the med reacted badly to me or this is normalish? (2.5 dose first time) less than a day and just worry how long this might last

@StMarieforme Mounjaro is licensed for weight loss. People buying it online are getting private prescriptions, with online consultations and doctor approval. Reputable providers also notify your GP. So that's more than one doctor who is aware of what has been prescribed to me.

What side effects has your single Dad to an 8 year old friend had with Mounjaro?

Come on OP, you're not being honest with yourself.

You let slip that you wanted the quick fix (even if you backtracked later). You wanted Mounjaro to 'change your mindset'.

Then you went and paid for it, and had a massive 'last hurrah' lunch and wondered why you felt ill? If anything, you should have been having a smaller/normal lunch to get you in the groove of what your life will be like now.

You need to completely reset your attitude, because you still believe that the injection will do the work for you. It's like someone starting AA 'tomorrow' but then going out on the piss the night before the meeting? They're doomed to fail because they're taking no responsibility and relying too much on external crutches.

You'll be back here shortly claiming you're not losing weight or not getting the appetite suppression and therefore Mounjaro 'isn't working for you' like you're some special case. But your mindset on this is totally off.

You seem a right joy. I made a mistake doing that, having that last lunch. But if you knew my circumstances or why people turn to weight loss injections in first place.

also resetting my attitude? Yeah the mounjaro is gonna do all the work, totally. I said betore its a lifestyle change i’m sure, well aware that hard work with any weight loss journey and cresting long term habits.

everyone in life has reasons - I backtracked because it was wrong wording, I knew fine well it wasn’t gonna be wake up tomorrow and boom the weight is off. You change your arrogant mindset for a start it will help you better in life, people can be naive make mistakes and admit

i seen gp who was very for it considering my bmi and health conditions

A GP approved this before starting as I provided my GPs contacts and thats part of the prescription. Didn’t just buy it on the street

Have you said where you got it from?
I can't see in your posts?

Laks19 · 28/10/2024 14:46

GP did state that common side effects and has no concern. But do have UTI so prescribed stuff!

Medexpress - who consults GPs and approves, went on this due to very popular choice and review from others on it.

When I first took Ozempic , I was sick , had stomach pains, awful wind and belching and diarrhoea on and off for about the first six months… but now I very rarely get any symptoms. I take it for Type 2diabetes, though. It was hard going to begin with, but it certainly helped my weight loss, and continues to help, after 18 months.

There's no point getting defensive and pissy.

I'm actually really hoping that in light of the somewhat 'surprise' data of the impact these injections have on other addictions (shopping/gambling/alcohol etc), then I may in the future be able to use them myself. Unfortunately I'm not of a weight to be able to even lie to get them now for that specific addiction. But hey ho. I certainly wouldn't be buying them and thenhaving that last hurrah right before. You're very lucky.

Really, you should have been 'dieting' or at least cutting down the second you bought Mounjaro. That's the right mindset. Not squeezing in every last mouthful until right before you start - because THAT makes it sound like you think you're leaving something 'good' behind, and starting something 'hard'. Not starting anew with the future you want, and the help you need.

AnnaFrith · 28/10/2024 14:50

Your GP will likely just tell you to stop taking it.
Stop taking it, and discuss it with whoever prescribed it for you - they have the responsibility for ensuring your safety while taking it.

SilenceInside · 28/10/2024 14:51

@Laks19 glad the GP was helpful and that you've got some answers for why you've not been feeling well.

MedExpress and the other online providers don't actually consult your GP, they simply notify them which just means they send off a standard letter. The admin staff at the GP will put that on your NHS record and that's it. The GP doesn't review it or respond in any way.

Ihopeyouhavent · 28/10/2024 14:53

Just ride it out for a few days, it'll pass and then your on the path to success!!

Any positive Mounjaro stories out there?

I signed up via Voy and have my first consultation on Wed ... slightly dubious/terrified now after reading all this.

Have to say I have zero medical issues (and all vital organs!) and am rarely sick or react to anything.

SilenceInside · 28/10/2024 15:05

@HCHQ many many positive stories. People post more about problems than about getting on ok with no issues. Have a look at the Continuing Mounjaro Thread 22 in this section, and also you could join the recent November starters thread that's ongoing. Lots of positives and support.

BookishType · 28/10/2024 15:08

I think you’ll find on here, the vast majority of stories are positive.

My own experience is that I have had zero side-effects, and I’ve lost 38 pounds. It has been easy.

I have some friends who’ve also started it and they are not experiencing any side effects either.

@HCHQ im on week 5 (now on 5mg) whilst has bits of nausea when I’ve made unwise food choices (too much/too heavy a meal/fried or greasy or too spicy) on the whole I’ve been fine.

loads of water and small regular meals and snacks. Got some multivitamins etc and currently trialing some collagen and biotin.

I’ve lost just over a stone so far.

SW 19st 4lb
CW 17st 13.1lbs
GW 15st 4lbs

Im 50 and 5ft 11in.

this is my habit setting period. I’m thinking of using it for 4 months to make gym/swimming and more movement and healthy eating a habit then come off the Mounjaro.

my weight gain has been laziness / lethargy / depression and a long period of illness and medication that has weight loss as a main side effect this last 7 years.

Edited

I had already adjusted my eating habits prior to starting, making sure I had 3 meals a day and increasing my steps water intake. (Calorie defecit was worked out by a fitness person) and I had reduced my snacking lately too at nights going for lower calorie options. I looked into slimming world and was referred by GP, they accepted my referral to weight management. The day of starting mounjaro was celebrating a birthday and thinking well I’ll enjoy this and get my head set up as thats why msot people choose to start diets on a Monday I feel. A fresh week and like how people go into new year starting! After Christmas joys. This getting mounjaro was to promote more and I heard so much positive on it!

2.5 seems like a high first dose?

Also, stuffing your stomach full of food before taking it was not a good idea OP!

The jab will last for a week, won't it. I'm sure it will settle down.

Karatema · 28/10/2024 15:33

You do know Mounjaro weight loss is a side effect of the drug! It was developed for those with a family history of Parkinson's disease.
Stop taking it and get a grip.
You should be monitored closely when taking this drug and shouldn't take it if you suffer from quite a long list of contraindications.

What on earth are you on about? The OP has seen her GP today, who has diagnosed a UTI and is fine with her continuing with Mounjaro. Mounjaro is licensed for weight loss in the UK and it is absolutely fine for the OP to be prescribed it. The contraindications list is no longer than for any other medication.

🙈🙈🙈

Yes as men don’t use this drug, it’s for women only.

I am so surprised at the people continually and obsessively haunt these boards to throw scorn on wli. And what’s worse is as we read all the comments, it is starting to look like it is often overweight , or even healthy weight women who are envious and resentful as they can’t get the drugs, and don’t want anyone else to have them.

thats messed up. Like properly messed up,

cinnamoncaby · 28/10/2024 15:44

These jabs look easy way to loose weight but I am waiting for some years to see how this business pans out. Meanwhile I do sports and try to eat healthier.

Unreconstituted · 28/10/2024 15:58

Oh god, you anti-weightloss jabs people are so tedious.

My husband has lost, so far, three stone on Mounjaro. He is far less likely now to have a heart attack, or develop obesity-related cancer. He's still got two stone to go. It's been a life-saver - literally - for us.
