Hi everyone,

I know that a form etc for medical advice isn’t usually the best and I’m hesitant on whether I tell my GP or if this is completely normal.
(i guess as it’s so popular right now if someone else has stuck through it, it will give me less fear with these side effects)

I looked into mounjaro a lot before buying, ever forum I could and did try get an app with GP but was impatient and thought i’ll not take one up when it all seemed positive. Bought from recognised pharmacy. As heard some horror stories too!

i took 2.5 for the first time after tea last night so 6ish, within few hours I started getting abnominal cramp pains. Through night woke at 1am with diaherra and was sick. Tried to sleep it off and now woke again with more of the same. I don’t think I could put my body through this again. I had my gallbladder removed this year after birth then ended up in hospital with complications due to blocked bile duct and nearly died so i’m hoping for this not to happen from it! (I sound extreme but it was so traumatic that experience)

I wanted a quick fix after years of binge eating struggling with weight i’m 15st and 5ft6 i wanted to better my health after what happened. I know exercise and calorie deficit but my moods just end up giving up all the time and cycle of never managing to lose it!

has the med reacted badly to me or this is normalish? (2.5 dose first time) less than a day and just worry how long this might last

@Motnight Brilliant! Showing up the ignoramuses.

IMustBeInvisible · 28/10/2024 11:58

She was happy to omit the 'ex' in friend when she wanted to convince people that she knows someone closely who obviously represents all mounjaro users as lazy arses who don't want to do any work. Now everyone caught on, she's an "ex friend who stole". Some friend you keep.

She probably 'stole' to buy her mounjaro fix so she can continue to 'barely leave the sofa' all day and just jab. It's definitely not for any other spending or food if she only eats 'mouthfuls of things' and barely leaves the house. Maybe netflix or something for her 'netflix and chill' habit.

OriginalUsername2 · 28/10/2024 12:05

Maybe look into intermittent fasting instead. A couple of days of hunger and the weight starts dropping off.

Sampler · 28/10/2024 12:13

I like the idea of intermittent fasting (for after MJ) but I don’t fecking understand it fully. Sorry to derail thread but @OriginalUsername2 do you know a good source re reading as there’s so much out there ?

TorroFerney · 28/10/2024 12:39

yeaitsmeagain · 28/10/2024 11:01

Correct, I should have said ex friend, she stole money from my home.

Manages to get off her sofa sometimes then! Sorry that was mean but I couldn't resist.

I am almost certain I have read that if you’ve no gallbladder you shouldn’t be taking weight loss injections.

Absolutely not true. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago. I have declared this on my consultations
With VOY, Medexpress, ZAVA and Jupiter.

They ask if you have gallbladder disease.. which if you no longer have a gallbladder - then you do not have it !
(Still declare the removal though^)

It's like the thyroid issue. It IS NOT off limits to you if you have an under active thyroid. It is if you have a particular type of thyroid cancer in your family. Very different things.^

Sampler · 28/10/2024 11:03

@yeaitsmeagain why do you come over to this board if you hate all the weight loss injection stuff so much ?

I’m curious too, we’ve quite a few of them, obsessively posting on these wli forums in a resentful manner, about how much they dislike weight loss jabs. It’s very odd to be so obsessive about something you’re not going to be taking and doesn’t impact you.

one can only wonder why that is….

valueyourself · 28/10/2024 12:52

Laks19 · 28/10/2024 07:08

Definitely and before going ahead I looked at no gallbladder removal and from everyone else no issues, I’ve just been unlucky maybe? And gonna speak to a gp today

You are completely correct
People saying it's a bad idea with no gallbladder are talking out of their arses. !

The sort of people who are so risk averse that they believe ANY side affect is certain to kill you . Sorry but ALL drugs have some side effects.

You just need to decide whether the potential for serious health complications of obesity. (the side effect is which is death ) is worth the unpleasant nausea.

Missing GB is irrelevant.

A quick google will tell you if you have no gallbladder or with intact make you sicker than the normal person . I would be very very hesitant taking anything like that with no gallbladder

I don't understand why you'd rather put up with this than just doing more exercise and eating less op.
So worrying these drugs. I hope you're ok x

This weight loss shit is going to be the scandal of five years time.

so the Atkins diet and Paul McKenna and Herbalife turned out not to be the fix they claimed to be, but some people made good money selling them, who knew.

And now we’ve moved on to injections where nausea and sickness are seen to be the norm. What could possibly go wrong.

Do you really know nothing about the causes of obesity and how this medication works?

Maybe go and educate yourself before offering an opinion?

Calexicomoor · 28/10/2024 13:30

I was exactly the same with wegovy. I was fine on the starter dose but as soon as I went on to the next dose I had horrendous vomiting, diarrhoea, migraine for a couple of days. I tried again a few weeks later and has the same result. I won’t put my body through that again. It frightened me.

SilenceInside · 28/10/2024 13:31

@AndBreatheeeee because "these drugs" are effective at helping obese people eat less and then begin to move more. Don't you think that if doing it unsupported was easy and achievable that obese people would be doing it already and we wouldn't have an obesity problem?

The risk of side effects is outweighed by the benefits of losing weight and being able to maintain losing weight for long enough to move out of the obese category into the healthy weight category.

SilenceInside · 28/10/2024 13:33

@AndBreatheeeee Are you trying to persuade me that remaining morbidly obese is a feminist position??

CheekySwan · 28/10/2024 13:45

I took 2 pens of Mounjaro - persevered with the side effects, mainly headaches with me, but 8 weeks on I gave up. It was making my life miserable. I lost 10kg, I still have more to lose but hoping the research on diets and nutrition I did whilst taking MJ will stand me in good stead. It's in your system now so see how it is in a couple of days before you decide whether to continue. Also, up your water intake to minimum 3ltr and get your steps up and make sure you eat little and often. And not late in the day. I have had mornings where I ate around 6.30 - 7pm, and i've thrown the food up the following morning because it had not digested.

Laks19 · 28/10/2024 11:18

Hi everyone,

I noticed some people commenting saying that it’s lazy way out and that not putting in any work. What I didn’t mention on the form is that for the first timr last week I had a gym induction in my local gym because I had hoped to do gym, and also bought meals lower in calories. Mounjaro isn’t a quick fix from my impression of buying and well it would be silly for me to pay for something then just to go back to old habits, I seen mounjaro is an opportunity to stop food noise whether that was gradually and work alongside the medicine.

I also didn’t get a GP appointment as one of the first steps to approving the prescription they notify my GP. I had also briefly spoke of mounjaro in past to my nominated GP.

i’m hoping it’s more me being an idiot and having that last meal thats caused this and the gallbladder being removed and more likley to cause it!
still in abdominal pain!
it edged me that this isn’t a new drug as I had worried over unknown effects in future, I’m sure I read many comments how long it takes meds to be approved and go through clinical trials.
its also a prescription being approved on nhs soon for weight loss!

Come on OP, you're not being honest with yourself.

You let slip that you wanted the quick fix (even if you backtracked later). You wanted Mounjaro to 'change your mindset'.

Then you went and paid for it, and had a massive 'last hurrah' lunch and wondered why you felt ill? If anything, you should have been having a smaller/normal lunch to get you in the groove of what your life will be like now.

You need to completely reset your attitude, because you still believe that the injection will do the work for you. It's like someone starting AA 'tomorrow' but then going out on the piss the night before the meeting? They're doomed to fail because they're taking no responsibility and relying too much on external crutches.

You'll be back here shortly claiming you're not losing weight or not getting the appetite suppression and therefore Mounjaro 'isn't working for you' like you're some special case. But your mindset on this is totally off.

Sampler · 28/10/2024 14:00

@AndBreatheeeee I don’t understand why you go on a sub forum of a weight loss board for injections blessing us with your outstanding and innovative nuggets of advice ? I must go on style and beauty and say I hate style and beauty…makes perfect sense.

Because when you are obese, it's not just about eating less, moving more. Would suggest you educate yourself about that before spouting prejudiced, ignorant nonsense.

SunQueen24 · 28/10/2024 14:17

OP I think the best thing you can do is seek some advise from a GP or prescribing pharmacist. I bet if you Google you can find someone who also prescribes WLI and have an initial consult - a lot of prescribers offer this.

On top of people lying to get the injections, faking BMIs etc.

A friend of mine, single Dad to an 8 year old, got his with just a few questions online. No one checks blood pressure, heart rate etc.

Then they're all buying insulin needles to "get an extra dose out"

Again, what could possibly go wrong?!

As an aside, lowering carbs ie Atkins is proven to lower blood sugars, reverse pre diabetes and help to control type 2, and also helps with epilepsy. It's not a fad. Just doesn't suit everyone. But there's years of clinical research. Unlike these injections when the recipient is not a diabetic.

StMarieforme · 28/10/2024 14:30

@InfoSecInTheCity the difference being
a) you are actually diabetic and
b) your medical practitioners are aware.

Very different from people randomly buying it on the internet!
