Also, what is everyone doing about exercise? What are you plans? Or what are you doing? I hate exercising because I hate being sweaty but I know I need to start something.

I have a gym membership, my work pays for it. I haven’t been since May! And I don’t particular like going either anyway.

My plan was to shift 2-3 stone and then start going again to help with weight loss when it slows down.

I do have a dog and 2 kids though so I’m pretty active when not working.

I have been doing a session with a PT once a week since January lifting weights mainly, I'm keeping that up but also trying to get back into the habit of doing more steps.

I swim quite a bit - I trained for and then swam the 11 miles from one end of Windermere to the other this year. Not that it helped me lose any weight but fat floats and the "bioprene" helped keep me warm at least. Will continue with swimming and going to up the gym sessions (even though I find it so boring).

I love a good spin class but there's none near me sadly.

One thing I'm really looking forward to after losing weight is being able to run again. My knees can't cope with my excess weight right now.

SunQueen24 · 26/10/2024 11:12

I train regularly anyway so am continuing - I’m worried about loosing muscle mass due to MJ. I was worried I would feel weak/faint because I hadn’t eaten yesterday but I was ok. Hopefully the suppression wears off enough so I can get the nutrition to support my training but not so much that I’m spoiling the calorie deficit.

Such a shame this isn't available on Android. Seems like it would be really handy

Oh no, that’s a shame. I’ve just had a look on Reddit and someone has said there is a similar app called semaglutide journey for android. Apparently the android version of shotsy is going through beta testing, so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

LumionaMoonsplash · 26/10/2024 11:42

I've hated exercise for decades, actively avoiding any kind of movement if possible. Probably why I'm so overweight. Last year I made an effort to get fit in my 40s, I joined the gym and did Zumba, yoga and a dance exercise class. I ended up loving the gym though, I do 20mins weights and 25 mins cardio 5x a week. The first 3 weeks were the hardest, being a newbie but eventually I became comfortable there and now love it. A few things I do which make me go, I put gym clothes on first thing and delay my morning shower until after the gym so I feel gross until I've been for my workout and have a good endorphin shower. I have fab playlists and download tv shows for the treadmill, cross trainer and bike, makes the time fly by.
It's ridiculous how much of a couch potato i was and now how much I love that feeling walking out of the gym after a great workout.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 26/10/2024 12:19

I weighed today and am the same today as I was on Monday when I did the first jab 😬 despite having 4 pounds off on Thursday morning!

Suppression wore off on Thursday so have been eating a bit more than I was the first 4 days. I am hoping that the second jab will top me back up and get me through next week.

I was thinking about bringing the second jab forward to today or tomorrow but we have a long booked meal out tomorrow night with friends. I was planning on just having a starter, or kids meals if Suppression was bad, but if I jab today or tomorrow I wont want anything at. So will just have to push through til monday and start again.

Squirrellover2 · 26/10/2024 12:23

I am now on week 3, I am following Slimming World and have just had my weigh in. 7lbs off since I started on 10 October. I am very pleased as following the plan has not been the usual torment. Mounjaro really does take the food noise away. I had not heard this description until these jabs came out but that's just what it is. Normal people don't have this which is why slim people do not understand how hard it is to eat normally.
I have had no major side effects, slight constipation and feeling cold but easily remedied.
So, so far so good

Mummy20213x0 · 26/10/2024 12:59

So I have a question about BMR! I’ve only been doing this for 1.5wks (W2 D3) and have lost 7lbs so far. I have those scales where it shows body metrics as well, and my BMR has gone down from 1639 to 1600cals!

I don’t want it to decrease drastically and definitely not this much this quickly, as I have another 3+ stone to lose! I am not staying on MJ long term as I haven’t the finances, I’ve said get to 6 months and see how I’m doing. At this rate I’ll be coming off MJ and my BMR will be like 1000cals and that’s just not sustainable.

I haven’t been tracking calories (I got very obsessive doing that a few years ago, dropped weight very very fast and I know that damaged my metabolism, so don’t want to go back there) but I do intermittent fast, as in don’t eat until lunch time. I have still been getting hungry and eating on MJ, so no total suppression, I’ve just found it easier to resist the snacks and make healthier choices. I aim to have two high protein meals - usually a protein flatbread with chicken, hummus and salad for lunch or one of the high protein BOL soups, and then tea is always some form of meat with veg, whether that be chicken or salmon or a casserole. I don’t always snack mid-afternoon but I try and remember to have some almonds or nuts or even few falafels, especially on the days I go to the gym after work. I have a recently diagnosed dairy intolerance so my lovely Greek yoghurt and milk has been replaced with lower protein dairy free alternatives, and I can’t stomach protein shakes or powders in food (never have been able to) even the vegan ones. Has anyone got any advice?

lapuf · 26/10/2024 13:16

BMR will have to go down as you're moving less mass around

fourquenelles · 26/10/2024 13:25

Hi all. Just taken my 3rd injection on 2.5mg. Started at 17st 10lbs (5 ft 4 in) and have now dropped 7lbs. Tried to eat a bowl of thick soup for lunch and could only manage half of it. The dog thinks its Christmas! Really happy to have been able to take a stab at cutting my own toenails this morning too. Its the little wins that motivate me to carry on.😁

Also, what is everyone doing about exercise? What are you plans? Or what are you doing? I hate exercising because I hate being sweaty but I know I need to start something.

I’m continuing my usual routine. I do a bootcamp twice a week at my gym - one session focussed on strength and higher weights and the other is more of a HIIT session with lower weights. They absolutely kill me 😅. I have quite a desk based job so on the 3 days a week I do nursery pick up I have started walking there and back instead of driving. I also run once a week - my aim is to get my passion for running back. Pre-baby (DS is now 2) I ran half marathons and loved having a focus and a goal. Now I can’t even do 5k without dying and the pain in my knees and joints is all down to my weight. I’m keeping up running once a week (when I say running it’s very intermittent jogging!) and hoping as more weight comes off I’ll be able to go longer and faster and not hate it as much because it won’t hurt 😂

@Mummy20213x0 your BMR reduces quite quickly with weight loss. In fact it probably decreases more than those calculators suggest.

This book gives a fascinating insight.

Thank you! As long as it’s normal. I aaa quite shocked with how much it went down when I’ve just lost 7lbs.

Also, what is everyone doing about exercise? What are you plans? Or what are you doing? I hate exercising because I hate being sweaty but I know I need to start something.

I also hate going to the gym but DH has cleared an area in the garage for me just before I started on MJ and I’ve bought some weights and kettle bells, some new and some on Facebook market place to start with. I’ve been exercising there consistently 5 days a week for the last 8 weeks and I’m loving it.
I’m beginning to realise that it’s the whole faff of going to the gym, the sweat, me feeling everyone is looking at what I’m doing and being self conscious is what I hate and not even the exercises itself because so far, I’m loving it. DH teaches me some things and I watch some YouTube videos as well and use it for my work outs and I can do it when I’m free.
If you have a small space at home, you can look into that as well.

Tohaveandtohold · 26/10/2024 13:50

Weigh day and Jab day for me today and I’m so pleased with how far I’ve gone.
This week, I’ve lost 1.3kg (2.8lb), not as dramatic as week 1 and 2 but I’m pleased with it. I have now lost 1 stone in 3 weeks. I’m so happy. Mu clothes size is still the same but they are fitting much better now. So close to having a BMI of under 30.
I downloaded the app someone posted in this chat earlier and so happy to see the progress. I’ll do my 4th jab later today

Also downloaded that tracking app and I love the time vs progress bars! Thanks to whoever suggested it on here!

I've always used the Fitbit app to track weight as it works out the weekly average and I'll continue doing that but it's nice to have a bit more data (and a prettier way of looking at it Grin).

ApolloandDaphne · 26/10/2024 16:13

My suppression must be wearing off as I am craving a big glass of wine. Jab 2 tomorrow thankfully!

SunQueen24 · 26/10/2024 16:21

Day 3 and I would say my suppression is less today. I’ve still not eaten loads but definitely had more of an appetite and cravings.

I totally agree re food noise description and was pondering this re slim people. They seemingly just don’t hear it or have discovered techniques to silence it. Either way, I am grateful for this wonder drug.

SunQueen24 · 26/10/2024 17:11

i take it back. Prepared a small portion of dinner feeling hungry and only managed two bites!

Despite the suppression I am still ruminating about foods constantly.

recklessgran · 26/10/2024 17:46

W2 D2 and all I've managed today so far is a weetabix. I'm off to the kitchen to make chicken soup in the soup maker as I really don't think I can manage a dinner no matter how small. Total suppression. I think I made a rookie error last night. I took two Nytol tablets to help me sleep without thinking that they were probably in my stomach for too long and therefore ultra effective. I've felt very weary today and I'm looking forward to bedtime already. VERY unlike me but I'll take it!

ruethewhirl · 26/10/2024 18:02

Just took my first dose, glad I've got that first one out of the way and now know how it's done! I'd been reassured it wouldn't hurt and it didn't, so glad. Now to see what happens... 😄

financialcareerstuff · 26/10/2024 18:37

I have my first doses arriving tomorrow. I'm excited and nervous.

I have a question ..... I don't feel like hunger is my challenge. I comfort eat and have terrible habits of eating lots of sugar and carbs. And I never seem to manage to give up. But I don't feel like I have real hunger or cravings.

Does the Mounjaro just take away cravings/hunger? Or does it actually make you feel repelled or put off by your normal food habits? I'm hoping the latter, if it's going to help me!
